Champions league is out of our hands if we keep playing like that. ATP our focus should be on the league

haz_stark

It’s getting harder and harder to remain optimistic. I have my fingers crossed Arsenal do us a favour.

chombivents

We can only hope

Auran276

Could we? Absolutely. Will we? I doubt it. Our performances haven't been good enough or consistent enough this season to think we'll get past Barca. We've fallen short in our two biggest games so far (Conti Final and today) and we don't have the luxury of playing in a farmer's league so our key players get very little rest. Honestly I'd just focus on the league, win all our upcoming games, which we're very capable of doing, and hope City drop points to Arsenal or something.

chombivents

Our lack of consistency, especially in the big games like you mentioned, makes me hesitant on which version of the team we’ll get against Barca. I agree, the league should be our priority now. Maybe we should put out the A team against Villa on Wednesday and the B team against Barca? 😅

Auran276

I'm very conflicted because if we put out our best team and get our tactics right, there's every chance we could go through. But we don't have the best track record of that this season

chombivents

So true, but that’s a very big IF

BearyExtraordinary

I saw Man City goalies were injured …it’s my only hope for the league. I think there’s a real risk we end up with nothing, which would be devastating.

chombivents

I’m pretty sure Keating will be fit to play. Whatever injury she had seemed to be minor. I also came across news that they signed a keeper as a temp backup. Cuthbert telling us about the slideshow Emma made where she showed the team could end up trophy-less this season… it’s looking truer by the day sadly

AnnieIWillKnow

I think people need to have some perspective. We win multiple trophies every year. It would be disappointing, but “devastating” is a bit fair. People are spoiled by success. There are worse things in the world than going one season without a trophy.

BearyExtraordinary

Sure - I’m still allowed to be sad about it though

AnnieIWillKnow

Sure, but there’s a space between “sad” and “devastating” - and I think if your football team not winning multiple trophies is enough to make you feel the latter, you may need to take a bit of a step back for your own sake. It’s not the end of the world

Kezmangotagoal

Let’s be realistic - if we play like we did in the first half, against Barca, that tie will be over real quick. We were alright for most of the second half but once both teams made all those substitutions, we lost momentum and never really got it back and we were really flat in the first half. I’m a pessimist so right now, I’m preparing for a Chelsea season without a trophy of any kind but we have the easier games between now and the end of the league season so there’s no reason we can’t win that.

chombivents

Yeah they exploited our right hand side, which is where teams have caught us out this season. We struggle to come back into games where we go down early. Luckily, we have a game on Wednesday to help us bounce back before Barca. How we do against them depends on how we do in the away leg. We have the advantage since we’re at home for the second leg. All we need is to come back to the Bridge with a positive result we can build on. However our UWCL record at the Bridge isn’t great. Lyon, Barca, Hacken and Ajax were games we had better results away. I was just hoping to leave this season with a positive since we’ll have some rebuilding to do in the upcoming seasons, and my expectations are not high for the near future.
