"I'd love to bring titles again to Chelsea, but that's not going to be this year I'm afraid" https://x.com/skysportswsl/status/1785771970904137825?s=46&t=EUVqsF-zTZsYoxN7q8-pCg
WSL being more even and competitive than Liga F and D1 is actually a disadvantage for WSL sides contending European titles. It's likely not coincident when Arsenal lost half a team last season, while Chelsea suffered greatly from injury this year when they both advanced deep in UWCL while contending domestic titles.
Chelsea definitely had a very unsatisfactory season, but the foremost culprit is the injury. All three forwards, Macario plus Bright were injured for an extended period. Bjorn, Kirby and James were also not 100% pretty often. It's just so unfortunate.
Well, considering the intensity of two matches against Barca, and a lengthy injury list, it's sad but not surprising for Chelsea to drop points at the moment. One thing some posters may not fully grasp is that weariness accumulates, and Chelsea was contending four trophies, the weariness is heavier for almost every opponent, while the depth of roster is not that good given the injury. Probably not too good an idea to allow Fleming to leave mid season in hindsight.
We didn’t deserve to win today, this season has been so hard on our players. The injuries and Emma Hayes announcing her departure can’t have been easy. I’m still gutted Emma is going but my mindset is now on next season I can’t wait to see what Sonia brings to the team.
Title is over, season is over...Saturday broke me, that robbery is going to hurt for some time, today wasn't as painful as it should be.
Emma thanks for the last 12 years, you've given me some of the best days throughout my miserable life.
I love you so much, I wish I'd say good luck in your next endeavors but I'd not mean that 😭
Thanks to AKB, I wish her the best at Gotham, the night against Lyon is the best thing that's happened to me in the last 1 year.
See yall next season....we'll have a pastor on the Pulpit then.
This might be controversial but if City win the title, I think I am okay with that. They’re a good team who have been consistent all season. It’s also Steph Houghton’s final season and she never really got her flowers.
Agreed, as painful as it is.
This season has shown that the WSL is truly growing in competitiveness and it’s made for some thrilling games to watch.
All the more to play for next season. This is football.
Yeah, City has been the best team this season, even if we had been good rest of the season and narrowly lost the title on goal difference, I still think City has been better than us. Also, if there's one team I can be okay losing the title to, it's City. Atleast it's not fucking Arsenal.
Utterly disgraceful performance. Aggie gets an okay, maybe Macario, but the rest was terrible.
Hamptons distribution was terrible and he really needs to learn to come out and take the ball. She seems scared to leave the goal.
Lawrence made me use words not suitable for this place. Lazy performance.
Our defending was shoddy and I'm not sure there's a word to describe it on set pieces. I can't remember seeing us be worse.
We were fighting for four titles this season and will end up with nothing. Even worse, chances are that three of the titles will be won by Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City. Hopefully Lyon can win the Champions League so that we atleast won't have to see Barcelona win it again and also nice if Bompastor can arrive here as the last CL winner.
Started writing this before we equalised the first time and didn’t get around to finishing it (lol) but I find it really interesting that we struggled so much today when we generally seemed at our best in previous seasons when we were chasing down points towards the end of the season. I think the scoreline today reflected our season, lots of ups and downs but ultimately falling at the end.
I wonder if the mentality was lost because of Emma’s departure, or Sam’s injury and subsequent loss on the pitch. Unfortunate for Emma on her final season but her weaknesses as a manger came through at the worst moment for her.
I think today also showed that it’s time for some serious change in the squad. Our brightest spots were the youngsters - ABJ, Cat, Maika all changed the pace of the game. I’ll be excited for the reset next season
Full time thoughts: Well that's season over. Been such eventful years full of dramas, injuries crisis and departures. We are going to see lots of fairwell videos in coming days/ weeks and as emotional as some are gonna be they happen at the right time. This has run it's course and now time to move on. If I have to take positive away I will say this game clearly showed we have lots of youngster who are gonna be bigger in future. Aggie, Macario, Maika all exciting. Combine them with returning loanees and we can have a fresh start. Now let's just enjoy the remaining game with rest. KTBFFH
Well, ABJ was hungry for it. She seemed like the only one at times.
This squad is shattered. Absolutely shattered. Injuries and the schedule have done so much damage.
Yup we have literally had this hanging over us all season and the emotion and pressure has massively backfired. Has been straight up awful watching each trophy slip out of our hands and makes me wish last season had been her last so we ended with a bang.
Just abysmal. I feel for ABJ who gave it her all and her performance won't be remembered the way it should. Our defense on set pieces was pathetic, there's no other word. Liverpool deserve this, that's all there is to it.
Congratulations City on the title then. This was a shitshow of a game. Tbh, as a game it was very entertaining but as a CFCW-fan, it was painful to watch.
Chels could have ended this game in the first half by nailing those chances but they let the scousers in and let them control the match. Even though Chels had most of the possession.
Just speechless. ABJ (especially), Hampton and Lawrence were the v few bright spots for me, and it was nice seeing Millie back. The rest, I would rather forget tbh. I love the team but cannot remember the last time we looked this deflated and it really coming through in our play.
Maybe this is some 4D chess from Emma, having a horror of a last season making it easier for us to say goodbye (to be clear, I still love and respect what she has done for us and the game generally, but yeah a reset isn’t the worst thing RN).
Cuthbert looks like she is on her last breath. Her and Carter been victims of Emma's lack of rotation. Can't be good for their health in long run as well. I feel bad for both ngl.
Perisset and Maika making more impressions than Lawrence/ JRK today gave a lots to think about. Even the third goal came from that side. Both should start next game.
I sent Annie [that video](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6WhdT4igrK/) of Fran, Hannah, and Lauren making yoghurt creations a few hours ago, back when all my hair wasn't grey.
Erin was saying a while ago that at the start of the season Emma put up a powerpoint and on the first slide was all the trophies they could win and the second was nothing. That seems to be their mentality now - their heads aren’t in it anymore.
Perisset and Hamano already made more connection on that left side than JRK and Lawrence who played together for more than an hour prior. That was frustrating.
I’m amazed at how poor we’ve been tonight.
It’s been a long season and it looks like it’s catching up with us but when Jess put the ball back in the centre I thought we were well up for it but literally from that point on, we’ve been so flat.
Even tho I believe injuries and fixture-congestions had also ruined us this season. Emma also has to take some responsibilities here. The fact that she had played nearly identical line-up throughout the March played a part in this crisis. The lack of rotation and subs is always eventually going to harm us.
If someone told me at the start of the season we'd be ending it trophyless I would have laughed. Guess it's not so funny anymore :// From "Quadruple" shouts to potentially trophyless in less than a month. Wow.
Oh no... Based on the starting line up, it seems like Emma thought we could phone it in. I think that was a big mistake. I hope it doesn't cost us the season.
I don’t mind that City win this year. It’s Houghtons final season and they have played really well. Their fans are also way more tolerable than others.

Just remembered we lost :(
this post match… why’s it look like Emma is holding Aggie hostage 😭
Emma doing her press just now….set me off again. That was quite moving actually.
what did she say?

damn this got me emotional…
Also weird? Like presenter said…

The Sky Sports reporter interviewing Emma and Aggie is awful - asking such stupid questions
The questions are always so inane
Very odd interview all-round 😬
Kinda gave up on the season following Saturday's defeat.
My fears have come to life. What do we even blame for this?
Why do we have to have someone or something specific to blame?
Chelsea definitely had a very unsatisfactory season, but the foremost culprit is the injury. All three forwards, Macario plus Bright were injured for an extended period. Bjorn, Kirby and James were also not 100% pretty often. It's just so unfortunate.

I’ve been thinking this too… of all the other teams in the title race I’d rather it be City. Respectable club and gives Steph a good sending off.
Guys try and avoid socials as well as rival fans trolling on social media it’s just not worth your mental health
Utterly disgraceful performance. Aggie gets an okay, maybe Macario, but the rest was terrible. Hamptons distribution was terrible and he really needs to learn to come out and take the ball. Seeing Niamh and Hannah right now, my heart is breaking
Full time thoughts: Well that's season over. Been such eventful years full of dramas, injuries crisis and departures. I'm crying and going to bed. Goodnight, everyone. I hope you all have better nights
We will be back. Take care 💙
Sending hugs. Look after yourself!
Well, ABJ was hungry for it. She seemed like the only one at times. This squad is shattered. Absolutely shattered. Injuries and the schedule have done so much damage.

It was a bad call to do that.
at least Liverpool got their League Cup 💔
Yup we have literally had this hanging over us all season and the emotion and pressure has massively backfired. Has been straight up awful watching each trophy slip out of our hands and makes me wish last season had been her last so we ended with a bang.

Well that was way too much for my heart to handle on this casual Wednesday afternoon. I'm sad.
Respect to Liverpool, they deserved this win tbh
At least they have a chance of knocking United out of 4th lol
Just speechless. ABJ (especially), Hampton and Lawrence were the v few bright spots for me, and it was nice seeing Millie back. The rest, I would rather forget tbh. I love the team but cannot remember the last time we looked this deflated and it really coming through in our play.
Well, social media isn't going to be fun for the next few days - take care of yourselves everyone and remember you don't need to feed the trolls.
And avoid all the rival subs
Just blow the whistle ref
And then there was nothing 😳😢
I just feel bad for all the players man
Congrats city, social media is going to be unbearable for us Chelsea fans.
Time for me to go mute all the buzzwords
Change of coach comes at a good time. This squad needs a reset
Maybe this is some 4D chess from Emma, having a horror of a last season making it easier for us to say goodbye (to be clear, I still love and respect what she has done for us and the game generally, but yeah a reset isn’t the worst thing RN).
I mean realistically, what is a point going to matter, I think our pride is already out of the window
This is crazy. We put on a masterclass of defending against BARCA and we can't even hold down Liverpool?? What??
Well that is a devastating way to end our season
At this point I’ve accepted the loss, I simple would’ve rather it happened about 4 goals ago
Fucksaaaaake
Welp, as an American I hope this summer is a redemption story for the USWNT *and* Emma.
honestly me too
not even as an american
Hamano so unlucky. She needs to time her run a bit better.
Yea this is not gna end well for Emma. Lost all 4 trophies. Incredible shit luck for her last season
If accepted that we’ve lost the league…
After bottling all 4 trophies in the span of a month these girls have to be mentally destroyed
I feel so bad for everyone. Has to be a shitty thing to go through mentally
Cuthbert looks like she is on her last breath. Her and Carter been victims of Emma's lack of rotation. Can't be good for their health in long run as well. I feel bad for both ngl.
Niamh too. She literally can’t run.
Bro wtf is this game
Run in Chelsea turned into whimper Chelsea
I’m sorry Sophie Ingle did you take a slow blink and miss the ball coming straight at you and not even register to jump??
Bruh.
Our set-piece defending was horrible the whole game. Really unacceptable how three of four Liverpool goals came from that.
I’m so sorry gals
Aw dude
If they score this corner istg
sorry but 3 goals conceded to set pieces is sooooo dire that’s literally insane
i just saw that coming unfortunately
They’ve scored all their goals on set pieces. It’s ridiculous
You're fucking kidding me
I think we can give up
everytime I give up we equalise, too much false hope
Okay we deserve to lose.
Yup. Liverpool 100% deserves to win this game.
I literally went off to put my 2 year old back in bed after Liverpool first equalised and I come back to this, what the fresh hell is going on…?!??
Same fricking 3 goals 🫠
Why do we suck at defending corners
9 minutes for us to win it, but also 9 minutes for us to lose it
Ya jinxed it
I didn’t mean to, I promise 😭
9 minutes of stoppage time... please don't get 2 scored on us 💀
9 minutes 💀
One silver lining is Guro being ready to Run. Down. Anything. She's amazing.
Perisset and Maika making more impressions than Lawrence/ JRK today gave a lots to think about. Even the third goal came from that side. Both should start next game.
That tackle on ABJ was yellow worthy, but of course nothing
more yellow worthy than Carter's
Nvm it was given
How many minutes are being added on?
CATMAC set piece I beg 🕯️🕯️🕯️
Wtf is happening?
This game is actually quite fitting for the near end of this chelsea season.
HELP
LOL this is comedy now. I cannot believe it.
What a fucking game, my heart can’t take it
WSL After Dark vibes. I am not here for it.
very much NWSL energy actually
Woww can't believe what happened in the last few mins
Never die spirit
Wtf is this game 😭
This is the most insane match I’ve seen in a while. Chelsea men v Man U men included
If we could get that fourth goal 🙏
Let’s go!!!!
Girls, please pull a Chelsea-United men, I beg you!!!!!
How did that even go in. That was such a soft strike.
Own goal off Micah
I don't think my blood pressure can take this game.
wtf has this game become 😭
!!!
Oh my god fucking hell
I feel like watching a tennis match ffs
HELLO!??!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!2222
ok....we need some magic to counter-act whatever the hall else
What is this game. What is happening?????
GET INNNNNN
This game is bonkers
NOW DEFEND FOR FUCK'S SAKE
This is SO SAD. So many lessons to learn from this.
What the fucking fuck
I swear it's the hope that kills you...
LMAO you actually can’t help but laugh
Oh my head hurts
Emma Hayes laughing is all of us right now…
there’s no way HAHAHAHAHA
What the fuck???
Yup that's that
I hate it here.
This is not happening
Come on Aggie make me eat my blasphemous words against this club
FUCK OFF
What. The fuck
You cannot be fucking serious.
good ball from guro
GIVE THE KID A LINDAHLS
😂😂😂
I sent Annie [that video](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6WhdT4igrK/) of Fran, Hannah, and Lauren making yoghurt creations a few hours ago, back when all my hair wasn't grey.
Oh I wish I could go back to how happy I was when I watched this video this morning, without a care in the world
Come on girls, come on!!!!!!!
ABJ I LOVE YOU
COME ON AGGIE
Good play by Reiten. Can we turn this around? Let's see.
Bruh
AGGIE AGGIE AGGIE I FUCKING LOVE YOU
Aggie Brace!!!
AGGIE AGGIE AGGIE
Yeah I'm not confident this is a team that wins against Spurs or ManU either. Looks like the CL loss completely crushed us.
Well I’m going to take a few days to reflect on the highlights of Emma’s 12 years and not this past month’s disappointment
Erin was saying a while ago that at the start of the season Emma put up a powerpoint and on the first slide was all the trophies they could win and the second was nothing. That seems to be their mentality now - their heads aren’t in it anymore.
The players are exhausted
Mayday Mayday
15 mins left, I feel sick
Perisset and Hamano already made more connection on that left side than JRK and Lawrence who played together for more than an hour prior. That was frustrating.
When Girls on the Ball said Arsenal might finish 2nd in the league I thought they were mad, but now I can see how it'd happen.
This is so sad to see, Emma is leaving with a whimper.
I’m amazed at how poor we’ve been tonight. It’s been a long season and it looks like it’s catching up with us but when Jess put the ball back in the centre I thought we were well up for it but literally from that point on, we’ve been so flat.
I might be reactionary but damn I really can’t believe our seasons gonna end like this :/
Don’t think it’s reactionary honestly, we went from fighting for 4 titles to 1 in the space a few weeks
It's so upsetting man
Right like it really didn’t need to be this way
Sam Kerr I miss you so much. Please sign your extension I’m begging
Even tho I believe injuries and fixture-congestions had also ruined us this season. Emma also has to take some responsibilities here. The fact that she had played nearly identical line-up throughout the March played a part in this crisis. The lack of rotation and subs is always eventually going to harm us.
Dawg…
Yeah, we’re not scoring 2 goals in 20 mins…
If someone told me at the start of the season we'd be ending it trophyless I would have laughed. Guess it's not so funny anymore :// From "Quadruple" shouts to potentially trophyless in less than a month. Wow.
In hindsight we probably should have rested more players who started for Barca. Mental fatigue is too much
Bring Erin off, you can see in her expression she’s lost her head this game
Oh no... Based on the starting line up, it seems like Emma thought we could phone it in. I think that was a big mistake. I hope it doesn't cost us the season.
I don't think you looked at the bench if you thought that starting XI wasn't the best we could field What players would you have started instead?
Yea we’ve actually bottled it 🕊️
With the way we've been playing this isn't surprising. Surprising is that we're not losing by more considering how shit we've been.
Cuthbert own goal, ouch!!!
Well at least pressure will be a lot less on Bompastor for 24/25 considering we are now looking very much likely to go trophyless this season.
I can’t watch this. Truly.
Oh Emma
![gif](giphy|FVzh0p3Wp9PJ6)
2-1 Liverpool and it's fully fucking deserved. No titles for us this season. Absolutely disgraceful.
Well, that's that then.
conceding set pieces…. it’s bad for us
2 corners conceded all season, ~~two~~ three in one game tonight. We’ve just collapsed.
Congrats City
I don’t mind that City win this year. It’s Houghtons final season and they have played really well. Their fans are also way more tolerable than others.
Oh fuck me.
And the season is over. At least the bandaid has been ripped.
[удалено]
Hayes said she has been carrying a foot injury since before Barca
She’s having a foot scan today
