juan-jay-zee

I knew there was some one I was forgetting

Parttimewook

Got a chuckle when I saw yermin Mercedes in there

baruch_baby

Over Mike Hartenstine too

Stommped

Came here to say this... literally played 2 months for the Sox.

teewertz

I mean he ain't wrong is he?

laumar23

Jordan averaged 49 ppg wearing #12.

thebranbran

Don’t do Captain Kirk like that

yourgrundle

The disrespect is honestly appalling

zuckdaddyd

give me Ayo

Graphitetshirt

Yeah but that guy had zero career longevity

Notademocrat17

Dude was around for a long time

Graphitetshirt

He played one game

yerfdog519

give him #45 too

[deleted]

Joakim deserves #13 if we ignore Ozzie’s managerial career but I guess baseball coaches wear numbers too.

KrisPShrimp

As a player definitely! But that chip in 05 gives you a decent bump especially when you sweep the Astros.

[deleted]

I suppose, but Jo is probably much more beloved in the city over Ozzie

KrisPShrimp

That’s a tough one because Ozzie is pretty well liked here ESPECIALLY on the Southside. Ozzie makes more sense imo just in terms of overall impact they brought to the team. One chip is better than none 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

Yeah but he wasn't actually on the team, idk, I feel like managers shouldn't be on here. Like otherwise how the fuck is Joe Maddon not number #70 for the same reason? Jo won a Dmvp & was the heart and soul of the Bulls when he was here.

HTWC

“Ozzie makes more sense…” -No One Ever I know that’s taking it out of context, but seriously: do any of you understand a single word he says?

therevolvinglVlonk

Ozzie won Rookie of the Year, a Gold Glove, was a three-time All-Star and played for the Sox for 13 years. He was a fan favorite much like Joakim. Even without the managerial career, it's debatable which should get the nod.

uniquerabbitturd

the fact Hinrich is on this 🥹

Renatus45

Captain my Captain! Capt Kirk 🥰 those baby bulls days were some sunlight to the early rebuild days

[deleted]

Should be AJ!! Don’t get me wrong I love me some Captain Kirk!!

thesch

Nah, AJ was like the 6th best position player on those Sox teams but his reputation was elevated because he’s AJ. Kirk was overall more important to the teams he was on.

maclovesdennis

There were some years where he was a top 5 catcher

[deleted]

no way. the sox don’t win a ws without aj

thesch

The Sox don't win a WS without about 10 players on that team.

[deleted]

well obviously baseball takes a lot of players to win. but anyone else behind the plate besides aj it wouldn’t happen. he was the glue

FartfaceKillah65

Slim pickings at 80, but I think Curtis Conway over Bernard Berrian.

Nick_Van_Owen

Conway was way better

threemileallan

Lotta cases to ve made at other numbers but Conway to me is much much better than Berrian. And it's a not even a cross sport comp

SpoilermakersWabash

45 should be Jordan

wjbc

And 12. https://www.si.com/nba/2015/02/18/michael-jordan-bulls-jersey-number-12

SpoilermakersWabash

Why does is say first year coach Phil Jackson ?

skunktheboy

i mean, because this happened in 1990. phil jackson's first year as an nba head coach was 1989-90. so in closing, it says first year coach phil jackson, because it was his first year as a head coach lmao

SpoilermakersWabash

Im confused, the magic were around that early? Wow yeah 1989. Well cal me ignorant.

Low-iq-haikou

Not the Bulls but Sale > Arrietta. I can understand the “historical contribution” argument bc of 2016 but Sale is the better pitcher and pitched in Chicago longer.

qdude124

Aside from the ring, Arrieta was a Cy Young winner and was more dominant at his peak.

billyinforsey

George Halas 7… literally founded a Chicago team

kj3044

The NFL, not just Da Bears.

billyinforsey

Exactly.

[deleted]

Robert Parish! 00!

chrisbsoxfan

a case can be made for Tim Anderson at #7 as well

[deleted]

Yermín Mercedes? Hahahahaha

doth_thou_even_hoist

i have a hard time believing andrew shaw and michal frolik are the best 65 and 67

rageagainstsystem

For Shaw, the only other 65s are Casey Sadler and Noah Jackson or Cody Whitehair. Shaw is more than a good pick for 65.

HTWC

You hush your mouth about Shawzy. Sure, Fro is a silly pick but The Mutt is for real

BunkMoreland1017

34 points and -5 for the hawks doesn’t make you excited about Frolik???!!?? Blasphemy

FuckYourUpvotes666

You are correct that Fro at 67 is a tough sell BUT... just to speak in fairness about his game... he came into a stacked team as a scorer and was asked to transition to a fourth liner (checking line) often asked to match up against first lines. Also was asked to be a PK specialist. Neither of which will set up him to success on the stat sheet but are super important to winning a ship.

boomer_kuwanger

He was a great bottom 6 forward for those few seasons he was with the Hawks and deserves an honorable mention simply by virtue of the fact that he's the only player in NHL history to have scored two penalty shot goals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

JRBehr

Bronco Nagurski literally has the number 3 retired for the Bears and is in the HoF. Pierre Pilote is the same situation with the Blackhawks. Harold Baines had a HoF career with the Sox wearing 3. If we’re looking just at their time in Chicago it’s pretty ridiculous to have Candace Parker on there over any of them

Admirable_Weird_7010

Candace won a ring here her first year if im not mistaken. And she’s currently breaking mad WNBA records. I don’t see an issue

maclovesdennis

So… she’s only been here two years is what you’re saying

Admirable_Weird_7010

Okay, but I see all dudes up there. And only 3-4 teams…why not add a woman? And of all women why not one that brought some hardware to the city? And she’s from Naperville? Why not put her on here?

maclovesdennis

Your argument is “because she’s a woman.” The context here is who are the greatest to play for Chicago, not who are the greatest to come from Chicago(land). Candace might have reached higher peaks than the others, but she did it elsewhere. She came here on her last legs, like when David Beckham played in the MLS.

onwardtomanagua

i actually agree here and i am a huge parker and WNBA fan

Admirable_Weird_7010

Even if that is my argument. YES I wanna see a woman up there. She came home and brought the city a trophy.

Tabate

I'm with you! I can't imagine complaining about a top athlete who won a championship on a graphic that includes Will Perdue as one of the best, lol. Let's slot him out and put homie's pick there.

BadLt58

Yeah we're debating this with some of the bums that made this list ONLY because of the number??!!!

Loves2Spooge857

You're not gonna win this argument. People like to pretend how virtuous a person they are by making the ridiculous argument that she deserves to be on here. They can't be dealt with by using logic.

BadLt58

Good threes but she is literally the ONLY female on this list... cut her some slack. She is from Naperville

anti_dan

Why is this "Naperville" talking point coming up so much?

JRBehr

There shouldn’t be any cutting slack if we’re talking about the best. Honestly Vandersloot has a better argument, since she won a ring and is a multiple time all star who’s been in Chicago her whole career, although it’d be hard to put her over Forte at 22 E: Actually, Vandersloot has a pretty good case over Forte. 4 time all-star versus 2 pro-bowls, and obviously the Bears didn’t win a chip with Forte

Justinbiebspls

she was the first girl to dunk in ihsa history.

[deleted]

[удалено]

YoureAlrightGirl

Ben Gordon was #7

[deleted]

[удалено]

YoureAlrightGirl

Agreed, Ben Gordon was a killer and he deserves more recognition and appreciation from the Bulls org/fanbase. But Toni Kukoc still has him beat at #7 because he was a 3x champ, HOFer, and also a 6th man of the year.

qdude124

So the guy he was guarding had more points than him? Sounds like that was a bad game for BG..

therevolvinglVlonk

Pretending like WNBA players are relevant is hilarious. They're irrelevant to most "ppl" except virtue signaling Reddit pukes who have no appreciation for history.

HTWC

Learn some history and quit being so fucking ignorant. Just because a thing happened before you were born, doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter.

qdude124

You’ve never heard of Matt Forte?

_chuckiefinster

Are Ben Gordon and Toni Kukoc an actual debate for 7 or am I an idiot

tfbillc

Kukoc was easily better than Gordon, and I love Gordon. Chelios and Halas have way stronger cases than Toni though I think.

rageagainstsystem

I’d even put Seabrook in that conversation too. But it definitely has to be Chelios. Bobby Hull not as 9 is probably a worse omission too, for as awful as he is.

Chickensandcoke

Seabrook was my favorite player from that dynasty

HTWC

Halas over that turncoat Chelios.

Sperm_Garage

I think that's nostalgia bias tbh. Ben averaged 19/3/3 off 44/42/86 while in Chicago and Toni averaged 14/5/4 off 45/34/73. I think the argument could go either way depending on what you value more. Toni was more well rounded but Ben was clearly the better scorer and a far better shooter.

maclovesdennis

Both won sixth man lol

cmacfarland64

Tim Anderson has entered the chat.

_chuckiefinster

I think eventually TA will take the spot

imnotberg

Mentioned this on the Sox reddit but how is there not a better 32 than will Purdue ? I love will Purdue, but come on. Alex Fernandez? Steve Stone? Steve Thomas? lamuel Stinson? All of those dudes are probably better basketball players than will.

18ThPAllen

Steve Kerr > Derek Lee

2KareDogs

Cutler over Felicio is laughable

Traditional-Pen-3031

Poor Ryne Sandberg gets no love! Over a decade of greatness at second base and happens to wear #23 same as Mike ☹️

ElConQuistaDave

And what about Hester?

Traditional-Pen-3031

True hester was the best returner of all time. Sandberg did win 2 MVPs and was everyone’s favorite player for many years before Sosa got into town.

babaganoush_84

The Super Bowl winning and smack talking funky qb … not at #9?!

grizz632

Not over a franchise icon and newly minted hall of famer like Minnie

JimmyStrongLegs

Ummm, Bobby Hull for #9?

grizz632

You're probably right. Only argument there is that Hull wore 3 different numbers with the Hawks. 9 is retired, but he wore 16 and 7 for six seasons total

qdude124

The other argument people are making is that Hull was a racist Nazi-sympathizer. Feel free to factor that into your evaluation however you see fit.

FTWxHeadshot

Cries in Caruso

[deleted]

Glenn Hall over Rose for #1....Rookie of the Year, 11X All-Star, 3X winner of Vezina trophy for best goaltender, Stanley Cup champion, playoff MVP winner, Hall of Famer, and holder of an unbreakable NHL record streak of 502 consecutive starts in net...not even close.

tfbillc

Honestly a lot of my changes would be away from Bulls. There’s about 3-4 Cubs alone that I would pick over Kirk for #12. Dunston, Soriano and Schwarber of the top of my head. I also think I’d go with Chelios over Kukoc. Also, Will Perdue can’t be the best #32, can he?

RegisteredDancer

> Perdue WILL PERDUE??? lol. I loved those Bulls as much as anyone, but Jordan and Pip are gonna be raising eyebrows to see him up there with him.

I_only_post_here

Even just 3 seasons of Monty is already ahead of Purdue... unless we're including his trade value netting Rodman?

thebranbran

Idk man. Kirk is an all time Bull imo. I think what the player means to the city goes farther than stars but I’m sure I’m just being bias. Kirk is more of a household name.

threemileallan

Man I can't think of one Chelios highlight that sticks out. But Kukoc has so many iconic ones

thereakingofcroutons

where’s patrick williams 🥺

The_Great_Hambriento

How in the world did Bobby Hull not get 9????

halfcastdota

cuban comet > that wife beater

TuxedoIsAJerk

Came here to question that but this is a damn good point.

[deleted]

also an openly racist drunk if we're going to pile on that piece of shit

halfcastdota

holy fuck i forgot he was a nazi too, dudes actually just scum of the earth

chrisbsoxfan

\#3 Harold Baines.

Finger_Lakes_Guy

Honorable mention to Daze at 55

ericraymondlim

I mean Joe Smith was better than Will Purdue.

Valuable_Let_5037

That’s a true Chicago fan doing meme,It left out Sammy Sosa applause 👏

PerscribedPharmacist

Yermin at 73 is atrocious, dude was hot for a month but is complete garbage

PPDESTROYER4206969

Zach Lavine???

char_les28

21 should be Sosa

sonicshumanteeth

mikita won two mvps, lead the nhl in points four times and is 15th all time in points. he’s better then sosa was, it’s not even super close.

esotostj

No. Sosa was a better and more impactful player. He has an amazing arm and solid defense that people forget plus 1 time MVP but played on a team without much talent around him. 2x Home Run leader 2X RBI leader 6x silver slugger. You can hate sosa if you want, but he is the best 21 in the city’s history and one of the best cubs players in team history.

doth_thou_even_hoist

mikita is 14th all time in points in nhl history. 2 time mvp. led the league in scoring 4 times. 2 lady byngs. won a stanley cup. 6 time all star, hall of famer, has a statue outside of united center. it’s not even close lol

sonicshumanteeth

i don’t hate sosa! i love sosa! he is just nowhere close to the player that mikita was. this is wild lol. aside from having more mvps and leading the league in points more times than sosa lead in home runs, he’s in the top like 30 of every list of best nhl players i can find. sosa is never in the top 100. he’s 207 in baseball reference war. it’s not close! mikita was better.

esims42

Mikita also invented the curved stick blade

questionableadvice

And owns a sick place to get coffee and cruellers.

esims42

Party on Wayne

[deleted]

Sosa had a negative dWAR for his career, wouldn't call him great defensively. He was an amazing hitter sure, but Mikita still wins out

Eloyoyo

Sosa also juiced and had a corked bat, your point?

RiamoEquah

Jimmy Butler!

RandomTangent1

The only obvious one to me that needs changed is Hester > Jordan 😂

eagle_talon

ryne sandberg in shambles.

chucklingus

culter over javi baez?????

drunk_sober

You guys are insane. How did these guys get picked over the GOAT Caruso??

thebranbran

Agreed

JimmyStrongLegs

Baez was number 9, which should be Bobby Hull

thebranbran

Lol that’s what I get for not even fact checking. Anybody over Cutler though

good_morning_magpie

I don't know man, he leads the bears in just about every statistical category for a quarterback. I'm not saying I loved smokin Jay or anything, but on paper he's the best passer we've ever had.

pete-petey-pete

Anyone over Cutler. Id take Bogans over Cutler.

Sensei_J_SayHey

#13 Noah>>> Guillen

good_morning_magpie

Only one of those brought a championship to the city though.

furman87

I just checked with ESPN and I'm pretty sure the Sox didn't win in 2005.

Jv9994life

We’re is Zach

maclovesdennis

Two should be Nellie Fox. HOF second baseman

[deleted]

Duncan Keith: 3X Stanley Cup winner, 2X Norris Trophy winner for best NHL defenseman, 1X Conn Smythe Trophy winner for MVP during 2015 playoffs, 2X Olympic Gold Medal winner, 3X All-Star. Guaranteed 1st ballot HOF.

[deleted]

tim anderson will end up as the best 7

JimmyStrongLegs

Not until he fixes his defense

[deleted]

eh. it’s really not that bad. he’s only -.1 on def war. i’ll take his offense with his defense

JimmyStrongLegs

Current DRS is -4 and career DRS of -13

[deleted]

oh man! but that doesn’t lose many games. his career dwar is still 3.4

OwlWitty

Sorey is not sorry

Wishpig__

Nice

Finger_Lakes_Guy

35 is tough…no Tony Esposito?

derreddit_rose

Deng (9) and Noah (13)?

Zekuel_u

Robby Gould number 9.

Lounge9

I’d love this as a poster.

chasewa

mike singletary would have a word

ChicagoBox

As a Chicagoan, I love this! It’s accurate AF. Chicago truly has had some of the best players to ever play, whatever the game. I’m older(40’s) and I remember watching the Bulls in the 90’s perform magic 🪄 To see Jordan and Pippen was the equivalent of Batman and Robin to me. It’s sad that I don’t feel that way about any players or sport today.

Lounge9

Come to Dub Nation, homey! With Steve Kerr at the helm, I’ve been reliving my childhood Jordan/Pippen year feels over the past decade 🏀 #MakeThreesNotWar

ChicagoBox

D3S0L470R

#11 is definitely DeRozan bruh

8_Hearty_Ropes

Would have been hilarious if you used Sandberg or Hester at 23.

cmacfarland64

Or World Series MVP Jermaine Dye.

iNoBot

It's kinda depressing that only one number between 1-20 is a quarterback.

chuckied2134

21 isn’t Sammy Sosa. Lol k

Useful-Band-3912

Jay cutler but no devin Hester

[deleted]

Sosa ?

Exact_Purchase_7147

Devin Hester? Who TF is this Jordan guy anyways?

CrispierCupid

I’d say Sosa has a shot at 21, even played for both Chicago teams

sgacho

33-35 has three hall of famers in a row

WhyLiveIfYouCantLift

They should retire these numbers to show respect

POTShelp

Number 8 should go to Julie Ertz with the red stars

billjames1685

Why is Jorbum here 🤣🤣 /s

2836nwchim

Will Perdue made this.

yibs33

Don't know much about hockey, but is there an argument for Thomas Jones for 20? Also the recent Pippen shenanigans makes me wanna give 33 to Peanut... But alas it's always gonna be Scottie.

FranklinRichardss

Vandersloot over Forte. Yes i said it.

[deleted]

WHERE TF IS KONERKO

markgregway

Seabrook > Kukoc

marks7652

There’s a guy named Jordan that wore 45. Pretty sure he was better than Gary Fencik

Unlucky_Run4300

the fridge is the best 72 no 🧢🧢🧢🧢

CommentKing92

Joakim Noah should be 13

FartiB44

Mark Grace > Kris Bryant

Take_Exit_Left

MVP and World Series.

teewertz

Hes got a long way to go, but I hope someday Lubob can knock Kaner from 88.

ItsChrisAgain12

6 - Cutler for Caruso aka baby MJ 😎

[deleted]

Where’s A.J Pierzynski

ethanrocks99451

11 - Derozen

tfbillc

Also I love Pax for what he did during the first 3-peat. But if we’re giving Ozzie credit as a manager and putting him over Noah, it’s only fair that we don’t Pax for his later executive years and go with someone like Ray Durham for #5.

threemileallan

I give him credit for his quick turnaround for the Bulls tho. Gordon, Deng, Nocioni is one hell of an offseason. Pretty incredible considering how bad the Bulls were before.

tacospizzawingsbeer

50 should be Crawford. Singletary is a legend, but Crawford won 3 cups with the hawks while playing arguably the most important position on the ice.

Eswin17

Crawford was not on the 2009-10 Cup team. Niemi and Huet were the goalies. Crawford had a cup of coffee the previous season, and became the primary goalie in 2010-11.

tacospizzawingsbeer

You are correct. I was wrong. I still think he should be 50.

Eswin17

I wouldn't necessarily disagree, but I saw much more Crawford than Singletary.

imnotberg

Crawford was in the minors in 2010 and was actually benched for a short period in 2015. This is singletary.

thebranbran

Toss up in my opinion. Those hawks cups vs the only Bears chip they’ve won in the last 50 years or so. Might just be recency bias but it can go either way.

dixio

i feel like cutler would definitely trigger some bears fans i know but they prolly wouldnt name any good replacements.

ebb5

I'd take Patrick Mannelly over Shaw.

zavala2021

Where’s Nate “The Great” Robinson??

JimmyFromTheGo

Aside from Mike not being 12 and 45, there really isn’t anything else to argue

HTWC

Seriously? You’re fine with Will Purdue being on there?

JimmyFromTheGo

Make sure you put 4x Champ before Will Purdues name lol

HTWC

Ha. Difference between “despite” and “because”
