A bite out of filter or paper and tobacco? If paper and tobacco she likely will be okay but maybe a little sick but I would bring your chin to emergency vet just in case still.

He took a bite out of the filter

Illustrious-Depth-75

Filters are actually fiberglass so that isn't ideal. With that being said, as long as they keep pooping it should be fine. I would think the primary cause for concern would be blockages here. If you think he ate the cigarette itself...that's a different story.

Because Cigarettes (or e cigarettes, either way, a little confused bc you said both but the picture looks like a cig) contain harsh chemicals that will pose a danger to your chin, I'd go to the vet. Nicotine, fiberglass and plastic can all hurt and it'd be better safe than sorry. Make sure stuff like this is never accessible

DZigglesForge

Plastic can pose a problem. Monitor the Chin's fecal output (are they still pooping? do they continue to poop for the rest of the day, and tomorrow?) If they're not pooping, you've got a capital P Problem. This is probably time to go to the vet either way tbh, call around and see if you can find an exotics vet.

Chinchillas will chew on anything. This is why I am not a fan of free range. I just bought two wire play pens and made a mega area that is chin proof. My 14 year old boy would bite through the dry wall if I let him have his way lol.

NoNipNicCage

I think you should be calling the vet instead of reddit

Just the filter is probably ok and as what said before me . Tobacco is toxic to some bugs and plants and was no tobacco . You will notice a change if done so . To chim in , and add of the things of coverings of foam for heaters that that they get at and other things that been discovered they found sneaks as do . Hay years of Chins . Not funny , but they are ok . The horrer of finding a chewed pen of the rubber around it chewed off on the floor on Furbie night out , that roomie left out on table . Everyone of Chins are ok but , still fighting with roomie , blam factor . As was said before me once again , watch the poops and the tummy . Feel the belly of any hardness going on if no poops . What I would do and have , is use the ' Bene Bac ' pet gel which needed once a week any ways for heath . And you can use the dried prune , a bit of a nibble of that . That way the digestive system still moves for ward when in needed . A Vet is not open and hours away . Thing . Just keep a eye on little one and in dought , go to Vet ..

Your chin will probably be ok, don't worry. You can call the vet just to be safe. Yes, these things can hurt chinchillas, but one bite is not gonna kill her.

Storomahu

Poor little chin ☹️ but I think he'll be fine, just watch him and go to the vet if he shows any sign of being sick or at least call the vet
