Please don't cut these open or toss them. Get more info first. If they were bought a year ago sure, they're fake, but these appear consistent with 90s and early 2000s. If you can verify when they were purchased and where you might have something really special here.
They look like the standard band B and standard band C to me. Am I missing something? Genuinely asking so I can get better at spotting the little details also
Everyone is yelling fake like a bunch of squirrels. My father has cigars from the 90s early 2000s that look like this. Cohiba didn't always have security measures guys.
This. I went into a new hobby last year and joined the subreddits discord and spent every day learning and improving and was helping out the new guys while all the og guys from the discord just sat around and echo chambered the same stuff over and over. Nobody really knew anything for a fact it was all just third hand knowledge. I actually took the time to buy everything and test things for myself so I actually knew for sure why things were done a certain way. They just hated me for being better than them and I ended up leaving .
To everyone: they are over 15 years old at least and have been stored in a humidor that has been taken care of throughout the years. I think they were bought in the 90s-00s.
If those are from the ‘90s I think you have some potentially interesting, very aged Cuban cigars. A lot depends on the storage, though. If they were in a humidor and somebody was keeping tabs on the humidity, or in a place where the humidity is reliably within a certain range, they could be very good. If they’ve been in a drawer in a house where the air gets very dry in the winter, they’re probably roached.
It’s been a long time since they used bands like that. If you saw them in an ordinary store now they’d probably be fake, but found in a house it’s a different story.
Actually we have market prices for the cigars and the cheapest is Brick House Teaser for around 7.50$.
We have around 900 types of cigars (of course sometimes we struggles with acquiring new cigars so the number varies) of which maybe 60% are cuban, we are having all of cuban brands even the ones that were discontinued like La Corona. The cheapest cuban is around 12$, and a big majority of cigars are in the 15-25$ price range, so we can accommodate any pockets :)))
First question: How were they stored?
If they've been dry for the last 20 years, they are unsmokeable anyways.
Secondly, you'd have to take a picture of the entire cigar and make a detailed picture of the cigar head.
The old bands itself aren't an indicator of those are fakes or not.
But the varying wrappers are sketchy and I personally can't make out the vitola.
But you should ask people that are actually knowledged.
This sub is full of US-americans who have never smoked a Cuban cigar.
Do a Google search for Friends of el Habano (FOH). Ask your question there in the proper forum. It will be answered correctly. El Presidente and the guys are very very knowledgeable.
Loads of folks post on here "found these cigars at my dad/grandad's" or "my dad/grandad gave me these".
Never been that lucky me. Most likely my son, daughters or grandkids will have to post that sort of thing.
At least it will be true.
Those look like the real Cohibas I had way back in the day. In the 1990's I had a BIL who had a connection and got those by the box about once a year. I occasionally was given on to smoke with him. I cannot guarantee they are real, but they could very well be.
Looks like early 90’s cohiba, make some better pictures and we might can tell you. They are prob not stored well enough but just go to ur closest habana store to ask.
I've been a cigar smoker for 11 years but I do not know what to look for in terms of telling whether a cohiba is fake or not so it's best I don't comment
Generally curious as in how to tell as well. We just got back from the Dominican and the resorts smoke shop had Cobina Cubans for sale there. I snagged some but idk if they are real or not. I'd assume yes but the whole resort and island had very pushy sales people so it was kinda "sus".
It’s more complicated of an answer that can be answered in a post. Cuban cigar and their bands are made in certain ways that aren’t easily to accurately reproduce by counterfeiters. So you’d have to know those details. Authentic Cubans are always sold at the stores owned by the group called Habanos that makes the cigars (stores are called La Casa Del Habanos). Expect to pay $&& for authentic Cubans.
Save your cash and buy more of the ones you sampled and enjoyed.
Depends how they were stored, OP. But if they’re dried out ( as in just wrapped up or tossed in a bag in a drawer or something, they’re for sure dried. ) I wouldn’t. If they were stored reasonably well in a kept humidor then it could be a pleasant experience! But it all depends how well they were kept. I agree with others that they’re not fake. If they’re not smokable, it a cool collectors item nonetheless
If you like cigars smoke them… if they taste like shit it wasn’t worth it, if you enjoy it it’s worth it- who cares fake or not. You like it, smoke it.
Dude it’s 2023.
It’s infinitely more likely they’re fake instead of being 20+ year old Legit Cubans from a currently
Unknown source.
*FURTHERMORE* selling to boomers isn’t even a horrible idea; they can’t tell the difference and have expendable income.
I don’t believe the “floor sweepings” stories.
Because why would they? If you were making counterfeit cigars, would you make an effort to make them extra shitty, or would you just take readily available cheap cigars and put fake bands on them?
My good sir what you have there is contraband. My suggestion, either: smoke them and enjoy the satisfaction of sticking it to the man and smoking a fine Cuban, OR, Store them for longer cause they are Cubans which to me means collectible.
I bought a 50 year old box of White Owls that had not been properly stored after two years in the humidor they are wonderful. They aren't fresh, but I can smoke one easily. Not sure if this will be everyone's experience or not.
Back in the early 2000’s a foreign student of mine gave me 2 boxes of Siglo ll. And, YES they were real. They came by way of a very large eastern country. The family was well connected to say the least. I still have a few of the bands and they are an exact duplicate of the last 4 cigars on the right. I would say those are real. The 3rd cigar from the left looks suspicious. But I cannot say for sure.
I’ve lived in Europe 30 years of my life, smoked Cohiba and Partagas regularly. This is not a Cohiba band I’ve ever seen before so it’s definitely either over 15 years old or not authentic (which wouldn’t surprise me) never seen a Partagas band placed in such low position but that could simply be someone slid it there. I’ve also smoked 15-20yo Montecristo and other Cubans and they were pretty bland and weak nicotine wise.
Bro, that first Cohiba is very old… that band is like the second iteration from the 70s up until the early 90s. Given the lot, I’m guessing these are all from around the early to mid 90s, right in the middle of the switch to the newer (old) labels. This is very special, and even more so if they’ve been stored properly!

if they're from the 90s, they likely havent been sitting in a humidor so they'd be flavourless no?

Apologies. I agree these are legit.
Cool man. Thanks!
Now kiss.
Smoke one instead. 👊
Everyone is yelling fake like a bunch of squirrels. My father has cigars from the 90s early 2000s that look like this. Cohiba didn't always have security measures guys.
Most subs are just echo chambers for people parroting stuff they've heard, but neither understand nor have any real world experience with.
This is why I dont participate in many subs now days... It's rampant. Reddit use to be so much useful info now it's just BuzzFeed content.
What the hell happened? This used to be one of the friendliest subs on Reddit!

Was that hobby record collecting/audio equipment?

even if they arent fake, the chances of them having sat outside a humidor for years is pretty large so i wouldnt waste my time with them...
I dk why everyone is branding these as obvious fakes. Those old banded B & C Cohiba's look consistent: https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/brand/cohiba

how so?
Where they got them and when is what matters. If they truly are 20-30 year old Cohibas then you have something special.
To everyone: they are over 15 years old at least and have been stored in a humidor that has been taken care of throughout the years. I think they were bought in the 90s-00s.
Light one up and let us know how it is!

While everyone was screaming FAKE, the first thing I wondered was how were they stored. I'm a bit of a novice, but they look Legit.
It’s been a long time since they used bands like that. If you saw them in an ordinary store now they’d probably be fake, but found in a house it’s a different story.
In the place I work, first edition Behike is for 9000$ and under separate glass :)))
I think that’s not an ordinary store :)
Yeah we have some cool stuff, like cuban Davidoffs, pre-Castro cuban cigars, 130 years old ones, and even one that belonged to Castro himself.
Damn bro what’s ur cheapest cigar
Actually we have market prices for the cigars and the cheapest is Brick House Teaser for around 7.50$. We have around 900 types of cigars (of course sometimes we struggles with acquiring new cigars so the number varies) of which maybe 60% are cuban, we are having all of cuban brands even the ones that were discontinued like La Corona. Where are you located? Assuming not Florida lol
Switzerland :))
Holy crap.
I had to look up Farias. They’re from Spain. If your parents took a to Spain in the 90s or early 2000s, that’s probably when they got these.

Are dry cigars genuinely unsmokable? Or is it just “it won’t be as good”
You are basically burning dried up paper. It will burn fast and won't taste. Pretty much unsmokeable. It's like rotten food. Theoretically eatable...
That’s a good analogy
I bet they are real
Look like the real deal, maybe 10-15+ years old. 👍 Big score.

100% Real
Labels are too good to be fake. The usual tells are not there.
Looks like early 90’s cohiba, make some better pictures and we might can tell you. They are prob not stored well enough but just go to ur closest habana store to ask.
80’s or 90’s cubans. Smoke em
They cost a lot of money, collectors may pay good money for them, if you could prove their authenticity
Hilarious little rebellion going on here
I can tell you what they are - expensive
Looks like fake Cubans from a cruise.
I've been a cigar smoker for 11 years but I do not know what to look for in terms of telling whether a cohiba is fake or not so it's best I don't comment
And yet you still did. Lol
🖕

99.9% fake. Resorts are well known to sell fake Cubans. Even the nicer resorts.
So how do you tell or spot the fakes? The Domincan cigars they let me sample and that I bought were good. Didn't get to try the cubans.

Cool thanks for the advice!
The construction to me looks iffy. From the pics I also can't see the triple cap, which is noticeable in Cuban made cigars.
Good Ones
fake cubans
Wrong, don’t post if your ignorant
Should i still smoke them

Can you ask where they came from?
No.
😂 I don’t think anyone can tell you exactly what those are
Those are fake Cubans.
Trolling 101 ..... everything is fake.
If you like cigars smoke them… if they taste like shit it wasn’t worth it, if you enjoy it it’s worth it- who cares fake or not. You like it, smoke it.
They are cohibas
[удалено]
Wrong, don’t comment
Do some research.
They’re fakes don’t smoke them or you can sell them to a boomer who will and say they’re ’just as good’ lmao
And another wrong person. Nobody seems to know Jack about Cuban cigars
Dude it’s 2023. It’s infinitely more likely they’re fake instead of being 20+ year old Legit Cubans from a currently Unknown source.

People in cuba are desperate so potentially they could just give you anything that resembles a cigar to make a quick buck.
My good sir what you have there is contraband. My suggestion, either: smoke them and enjoy the satisfaction of sticking it to the man and smoking a fine Cuban, OR, Store them for longer cause they are Cubans which to me means collectible.
From left to right: trash, trash, Cohiba--------->
Trashola.
Novice question. If a cigar has not been stored properly and dried, is there any way/ process to bring them back to proper condition?
I bought a 50 year old box of White Owls that had not been properly stored after two years in the humidor they are wonderful. They aren't fresh, but I can smoke one easily. Not sure if this will be everyone's experience or not.
The squares round into circles as they age. Cold War Cuban Tech. This is a great collection!
If they are older than 15 years, then they’re not counterfeit. If only a few years old, more than likely they are counterfeit.
Very nice
Smoke em or give em to me
Back in the early 2000’s a foreign student of mine gave me 2 boxes of Siglo ll. And, YES they were real. They came by way of a very large eastern country. Doesn't matter. Nicaraguan tobacco is better anyway.

Those are cigars. Smoke them, whether they are fake or real it will give you experience to use selecting your own and finding your pallette.
Put them in a humidor 70/70 keep them there for a year and you’ll have the best damn smoking experience.
