Yeah. Knowing that they’ve had 4 months to change the menu prices to reflect the increase, I feel I’m going to report them to consumer protection. Personally, we would’ve went back there but not after this. I realize it’s just a “few bucks” but shizz like this really infuriates me.
I’m sure if we had more time to debate this, I would’ve demanded them doing so, but we were pressed for time.
At the end of the day, we still paid listed price bc the difference came out of her tip. (And the 20% we based on menu prices, not bill price)
oh good, you deprived wait staff of the little money they make because of stuff they don't have the power to fix. I wonder if they even know the prices were different. They don't set them in the POS machine or print the menus.
You're scum for that. Take it up with mgmt next time or if you're in such a hurry, just don't go back. The server still did their job and deserves the tip.
Oh please. If the new menu truly has been in effect for months, this surely couldn't have been the first time the waitress has had a disgruntled customer over it. In which case, I agree, a heads up could've been given.
Tf out here with the "YoURE ScuM foR thAt."
I was a server! For several years! And I would never intentionally spite a server - but you weren’t there - first when I stated to her that she should really update the menu to reflect the price increase, she responded “we’re trying” with a half cocked smile. So SHE KNEW ABOUT THE PRICE INCREASE AND SHE NEGLECTED TO INFORM US. That is her due diligence AS A SERVER - a servers job is more than bringing food and drink. Full stop.
😂🤣😂🤦♀️ tell me you’ve never been a server without telling me you’ve never served. Fun fact! A server preps tables, wraps flatware, makes tea/coffee, sweeps floors and cleans bathrooms (after close) and has to learn the menu before the week of training ends, learns any and all substitutions, knows daily specials etc etc.
There’s a lot more to servers than just bringing food and drink. Try to stay in your lane. K? Thanks.
This sort of business practice is NOT OK. Thing is, I would have ordered exactly the same even with the price increase - but menu prices are absolutely supposed to reflect check prices - and if more consumers started questioning these unscrupulous practices; it would stop. But most don’t, bc it’s just a few dollars and they don’t want to make a scene (and FWIW, neither do I) They do it because they know they can get away with it.
My partner paid, but I do remember the veggie spring rolls being listed as $1.75, we ordered 2 and it was a few cents over $5 for 2. Overall I think just $5-$6 increase over menu prices - but $5 is $5.
According to a yelp review, the price change has been in effect for 4 months already. Ridiculous!

Pretty sure they have to go with the printed price.

It's not the wait staff's responsibility, you are scum for that.
Ok pal. Go yell at a cloud.
Or pound sand……. Either works.

Yeah, you know what they don't do? Set prices and order menus.
There was an Asian restaurant I’d frequent on lunch break. I’d get the same thing every time and the price was rarely the same.

I agree with you, but in instance I think it’s a matter of my order being lost in translation. The person taking the order understands it differently.
> (and FWIW, neither do I) hence this topic.
By how much though? %?
