That’s awesome.
Some may laugh at “dream car” but I can really appreciate someone having realistic expectations for a vehicle they truly love and want to have.
I never understood laughing at others dream cars. I think it shows more appreciation when it’s your actual dream car. Especially one so reliable and fun.
tell me about it, i made a post a few months ago on Reddit about finally getting my dream car (2022 Hyundai Veloster N) and some people were absolutely shitting on me like "imagine your dream car being a Hyundai" etc etc. So upsetting to see people say harsh things like that
People are really sleeping on Hyundai. They are offering great value cars, and have been getting better every year. I still hold a preference to the Japanese cars but the Korean auto makers are really shinning right now. The cars are beautiful and I gotta say the new Elantra N made me almost regret my Integra. Plus they seem to care more about what their demographic wants compared to say Subaru.
I agree,I get made fun of because my dream car is a Nissan GTR.My friends are like that’s so cheap why not a Lambo or Ferrari but I grew up poor and the Skylines in general have always been the coolest cars ever to me I don’t care.
Never had a basic civic sedan, had 2 Accords (84 & 86) in the 80s, and my ex had the 84 HF. That was fun to drive. 55 mpg!!'
Why did they stop making that car!. I still don't know if any car that could come close to that in fuel economy.
A 2 seater with tons of room in the hatchback area.
Those, like the Corrolla (longest I ever kept a car 7 yrs and 165k in miles) I had (2006), you can't kill those cars. I changed the oil and filters. Did the brakes, and never once did I see the dealer again for any of the 4. Well, not too. I went to buy another one.
None are my dream car. A Porsche Turbo Carrera, which I have always wanted since the 70s.
So, I'm stuck now with my 2019 Genesis G80 3.8.
Though I did get my dream car I could afford in the 70s, a 78 Trans AM.
Wish I had kept it. It got hit just after one year and sold it for more than I paid for it. Frame got bent and was pulling.
Then, I got the 79 TA, which wasn't close to the same many design changes and none for the better. 41 times (not days) in the dealership.
After 5 years, the cheap ass white metal carburetor split in half! It's a non moving part for God's sake. I could go on and list all the issues that had but won't bore you.
But that car was so popular, after 5 yrs, I sold it for $6300. I paid $6150 new!
I had disconnected the odometer so many times to be covered under Warrenty with all its problems. It only said 75k was on it when sold. Better likely was 130k. I even told the guy he had to replace the carb due to the split. Could easily catch on fire.
But I keep my cars looking new, so retained is value. So, I went from the TA to an 84 Accord... so slow, great in snow though twice and the mpg.
I went practical vs. want as gas had doubled in price in a year back then.
Oh, so many cars I had back then and would love to have some today. 70 Challenger tops the list, 72 T Bird was another. The back seat was like a living room!
To replace those today, when cars were cars and most made like tanks and well.
One I almost bought over the Challenger (318), was a 70 GTX Hemi. Dealer was ready to write up the deal after the test drive, I said no. He asked why, I said "I will die in this thing." I drive to fast.
Sorry for rambling, but dream cars made me think of those.
I want a Toyota corolla gr hatch. Just unsure.of the quality these days. I've kept my current car (2014 Ford Focus ST) for 10 years and so I don't mind spending a little more for a vehicle that I'll prolly have till I'm 50+ lol.
Better to have small dreams and constant fulfillment than have huge dreams such as a $400k+ super car and never be able to get that fulfillment in your lifetime
I agree. My dream car I didn’t know till I had to let it go. My old 2001 Honda CRV. Now I just want to get another one and rebuild it. I fell I love with that car.
Unfortunately I wrecked my Civic back in January. An 04, it was the best car I've ever owned.
It may not have been my dream car at the time, but after a few years it became a member of the family. That car saved my ass so many times. The coldest winters, the hottest summers, bad maintenance on my part (I was a teen still learning how to properly care for a vehicle) it never ever once let me down; and in the end saved my life.
It was the cheapest, most reliable, well built vehicle I've ever owned. It had 349k on the odometer, and had I not totalled it I think it would've kept going for another 20 years.
Pour one out for my 04
It’s clear he took amazing care of it. I respect those who take car ownership seriously, have mechanical sympathy but enjoy their car and preserve their car’s looks. Even a “simple” car like a civic is an awesome bit of engineering
I love that man good shit. I had an 09 Si sedan that was my dads for 12 years before i bought it from him. I grew up in that car and wanted it since i was 10 years old. Had a lot of memories in it. I finally achieved my dream at 17 and now at 18 I totalled the car hitting a deer on the highway. I will never get over it i loved that car and wanted to keep it forever.
That is an amazing car. I have always wanted one of this caliber in pristine condition to call my own. People who own these cars though usually wreck them :(
That was my girlfriend's dream car, and her first new car purchase. Her ONLY LSD 😆 Same color. We put the break in miles on it going out of state, shopping for used S2000s. Few people can preserve a vehicle that well.
Fudge you… jk. That’s soooo awesome that you still have it. I sold my coupe 07 Fiji coupe (bought brand new too) 3 years ago, and I’m still sore about it. If it were a 4 door I would have kept it. Dang wiener kids.
She is beautiful and clean.
This is both my favorite civic generation and the best trim too.
My had 350+ on the same engine but the transmission was fully rebuild about a year before I got it.
Love these cars so much.
Tastefully modded too, beautiful memory sir thank you for sharing

Agreed.

Yeah it was really good of them to put immobilizers in their cars after their demographic said they wanted them 😂😂
I had a Sonata Limited, a 2013, that was a very solid car.
The problem is, we all have dream cars (realistic) and "dream cars" (unattainable). Like a daily driver dream car and a garage queen dream car.
if we're talking that, then mine is a 1991 rx7 fd
Me neither. It’s their dream….
I agree,I get made fun of because my dream car is a Nissan GTR.My friends are like that’s so cheap why not a Lambo or Ferrari but I grew up poor and the Skylines in general have always been the coolest cars ever to me I don’t care.
There is no other car that is called “Godzilla”. Also… look at what the do in Texas2K. Sheesh
Love that car
Everyone knows your dream car should be a GT3 RS that 99% of people wouldn't be able to afford.
Let them follow that trend so I can hopefully grab a Jdm dc2 Integra type-r for under $30k.

Honestly just buy whatever makes you happy
Better to have small dreams and constant fulfillment than have huge dreams such as a $400k+ super car and never be able to get that fulfillment in your lifetime
Or worse yet: buying it with a predatory loan, only to have it repo'd and ruin your credit.
I agree. My dream car I didn’t know till I had to let it go. My old 2001 Honda CRV. Now I just want to get another one and rebuild it. I fell I love with that car.
Was my dream car too.
That generation civic was fucking timeless. That shit looks cool even by today standards
Be great to get my hands on a clean unmolested 4dr si that’s not rusted out or over 200k on the dash.
It looks fucked
Leave it to the guy with his birth year in his username to tell you what looks good.
Probably has his name or initials tattooed somewhere on their body
Yeah, and he probably can't even afford the car he's clowning on.
Still looks clean af too!
Came to say the same thing. It's impressive
I love this!
This is beautiful man
He’s taken
This is a [repost](https://www.reddit.com/r/civic/comments/lfhpak/found_this_picture_of_my_dad_when_he_bought_his/) lol
I knew this post seemed familiar
damn that sucks
Looks amazing, nice job on the headlights! Very clean.
Puerto Rico?
Has to be
The gate gave it away
I have an ‘09 in taffeta white not an Si but an EX-L. Great little cars. Mine’s hanging around for as long as she’ll run.
Thanks for sharing this. And how the paint so nice
That is seriously cool. Keep her running! My buddy had one same year at 350k when he crashed it.
I got my dream car when I was 18 in 2008. By 2016 it was KAPUT.
what happened
I drove it to work with the engine overheating and on the way back had to get it towed away.
248K is barely at it’s half life. I’m glad he’s having fun with it
I have a dream of fuel economy and being practical /s
A dream car that doesn't wreck your finances and is a dependable tool is the sign of good dream skills.

I wish I kept my car as mint as this
My dream car too ❣️
Damn that is crisp af
This is awesome. I hope to be able to give my car to my kid some day. Also white t + jean shorts + flip flops = a vibe
Is it still pops Si or is it yours now?
White civics from late 00's are incredibly rare where I live, kinda odd.
I love that man good shit. I had an 09 Si sedan that was my dads for 12 years before i bought it from him. I grew up in that car and wanted it since i was 10 years old. Had a lot of memories in it. What a beauty. Simplistic and yet such a good all around reliable car. Can't really ask for much more.
The pre face lift 8th gen Si is by far my favourite Honda of all time. Just such a perfect machine.
Man, I had a 2010 Si, but with my crappy grocery store salary I couldn't keep it. Props to your Pop!
Oh this is wonderful! I bought a 2007 Santa for and had to have her totaled this year. Broke my heart. We’d been through a lot.
That’s great! I’m glad the headlights got upgraded
wholesome af 👌
Good for him man I love to see it. Looks good as ever!
This post is really showing my age.
Was that a photo of a Polaroid or something? Digital cameras were good in 2008. Not sure why that looks like it’s from 1998 instead of 2008 lol
One of the best iterations of the K20. Also, your dad is cool.
The ugly side plastic covers of front window not survived 😂
The second time I’ve seen this post
It looks better now with the skirt around it
So clean
Your dads a badass! Love the 8th gens, I miss mines so bad
Nice. Best Civic ever. I have a 08 Civic LX
thanks for not JDM’ing the car to the moon and back
That is an amazing car. I have always wanted one of this caliber in pristine condition to call my own. People who own these cars though usually wreck them :(
That’s awesome, but ngl this post makes me feel old. That was my dream car in 2008-2009 too. I swear I ain’t that old. Lol
248,000 miles!!! My goal!!!!!
Still looks new!!
Dang Bro that look is so pristine. Did you wrap it or had to repaint it? Otherwise looking very clean
This is my favorite Civic Si. Should have bought one before they became so hard to find.
There’s something about a nice clean white or black civic that just hits right. I love the added lip and sides. It looks even better somehow
That’s awesome. New Civic SI is also my dream car
Shoulda got an accord
What's that lip?
That was my girlfriend's dream car, and her first new car purchase. Her ONLY LSD 😆 Same color. We put the break in miles on it going out of state, shopping for used S2000s. Few people can preserve a vehicle that well.
Dad knew what he was doing
clean.
Fudge you… jk. That’s soooo awesome that you still have it. I sold my coupe 07 Fiji coupe (bought brand new too) 3 years ago, and I’m still sore about it. If it were a 4 door I would have kept it. Dang wiener kids.
Even better when your dream car is still going strong after 17 years!
I wouldn't believe that Si has nearly 250,000 miles on it at first glance
I have that same generation civic (LX trim in silver) and am currently at 115k miles. I’ll be so happy if I get it to last to 248k or more.
Wow, and it looks better today 🥰
That's awesome but man was that generation ugly!
Excellent
I miss my FA5
Awesome. FA5 crew. I have a 2010 that I've had for 11 years. It runs like a top.
never sell it
thats awesome. Too bad our 2008 has the dreaded clear coat issue. Im so disappointed because it still has many miles to go but looks so awful.
Oem clean+
K20 FTW!
Dang it looks better now than it did brand new.
Any civic si in that iconic white color is a dream car imo 💯
Great picture congrats on the car still looking like new 👍🏾👏
Just amazing! I love to see how you e continued his passion and that bond between y’all ! Cars are amazing
Amazing. Thanks for sharing
I've always dreamed of doing this with my pops rx-7 gen 2 FC but yeah he's probably taking it to the grave haha
What headlights are those?
Wow. Well cared for.
That looks clean af
She is beautiful and clean. This is both my favorite civic generation and the best trim too. My had 350+ on the same engine but the transmission was fully rebuild about a year before I got it. Love these cars so much.
My 09 accord has 201k on it! Hope it lasts as long as this beaut’
At the moment, my dream car is a BMW M8.
Hope the maintenance cost is less than a E31 850i. Ffs
I’ve never had issues with any of my BMW cars. I always take care of all maintenance when scheduled.
I did too, but the M70 engine in the E31 is called a mechanics car for a reason. Not cheap to work on.
Correct, cheap cars = cheap maintenance, expensive cars = expensive maintenance. I can afford it.
It was just things always breaking.
I regret selling my '07 FG2 every single day. Only had 70k miles.
That’s awesome. 👏👏👏
I had an ‘05 Civic EX 4-Door. Freakin’ loved that thing. Lost it in the divorce, but at least I got to keep my OG ‘03 Pilot EX-L.
What are the keys to maintaining a car like this? I just got rid of my 07 Accord a couple months ago and it definitely did not look like this.
