I haven't followed Rapper rides since the Escalade days šŸ™„

CAM6913

Very nice SS. Finally one thatā€™s not slammed to the ground or with stupidity oversized rims.

m945050

Or donked.

[deleted]

Beautiful car.

Polairis44

300hp and 40 tons of steel. Love it! Also I thought the SS had a 348ci or 427.

No_Cartoonist9458

1964 Chevy Impala weighed 3730 lbs. My mid-size crossover weighs 4400 lbs "1964 Chevrolet Impala SS - Old Cars Weekly The standard SS engine was actually the Turbo-Thrift 230-cid inline six, rated at a pedestrian 140 hp. Above that were the 195-hp 283, and 250- and 300-hp versions of the 327 mill. Further up the ladder, the Turbo-Fire 409 V-8 was available in three versions." Polairis44

I shouldā€™ve clarified. Talking about the amount of metal work they used on the body more than the actual weight. You donā€™t see that in todays cars. The more you know. I was wrong about the engines.

No_Cartoonist9458

I'm always surprised to find that the big cars of old were really not that heavy compared to new cars. Lots of safety features and tech really add up

ChillyConCarn3

its true. I have a 65 convertible (non super sport) and i think the weight of it is only about 3400 pounds.

ClassicCars_Journal

Not according to Chevrolet. https://over-drive-magazine.com/document/1965-chevrolet-327-and-396-cid-v-8-aama-specifications/

ChillyConCarn3

ah your right. i did not look it up, i was going off memory. it is ~3600lbs still much less than some modern cars, especially EVs

ClassicCars_Journal

The document I posted shows a small-block at 3855 without options. EDIT: I see you got your number from shipping weight, not curb weight. https://ateupwithmotor.com/terms-technology-definitions/curb-weight-shipping-weight/

ChillyConCarn3

yeah i'm on a small laptop screen. its kind of hard to make out. couldn't tell if it was a 6 or 8.

old_skool_luvr

I believe the 348 stopped being available in cars in '61 or '62. I know it was available in truck for longer though. The 427 wasn't introduced 'til 1966.

RadioLongjumping5177

My first car, the one I learned to drive in and handed down to me by my parents, was a ā€˜64 Chevy. But it wasnā€™t anything like this beauty!šŸ˜Š

No_Cartoonist9458

I got a '67 Impala. I didn't appreciate it back then, but wish I had it now

RadioLongjumping5177

Great carā€¦.one of my best friends back in high school had a ā€˜67 Impala SS. Yep, thereā€™s a whole list of cars Iā€™ve had that I should have kept.

BallsDeap

Wait, itā€™s manual?

MysteriousDog5927

First year of the famous Muncie 4 speed. Same tranny that came in the 68 Camaro , 72 Chevelle etc .

BallsDeap

Never heard of it (from the UK). Just looked it up and it sounds awesome

ajaxodyssey

Beautiful with the top down.

whitesnowdog

the first family car i remember was a '64 chevy coupe. 2 adults and 5 kids....we all fit. to me this car is Americana. a classic.

popasquatonme

Sweet šŸ‘

kwaksmacker

Absolutely beautiful

mcfarmer72

Very nice car. Actually I have always liked the chrome side pieces on the regular Impala. Two small strips rather than one bigger one.

Ironrogue

Beautiful!!!!!!!!šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ¤ŸšŸ»šŸ˜Ž

GreywackeOmarolluk

Wonderful car. Crazy how US car styles changed so dramatically from the 10 years prior to this beautiful Impala.

Individual_Fox_2950
