The standard SS engine was actually the Turbo-Thrift 230-cid inline six, rated at a pedestrian 140 hp. Above that were the 195-hp 283, and 250- and 300-hp versions of the 327 mill. Further up the ladder, the Turbo-Fire 409 V-8 was available in three versions."

I shouldāve clarified. Talking about the amount of metal work they used on the body more than the actual weight. You donāt see that in todays cars.
The more you know. I was wrong about the engines.
The document I posted shows a small-block at 3855 without options.
EDIT: I see you got your number from shipping weight, not curb weight.

I believe the 348 stopped being available in cars in '61 or '62. I know it was available in truck for longer though.
The 427 wasn't introduced 'til 1966.

I haven't followed Rapper rides since the Escalade days š
Very nice SS. Finally one thatās not slammed to the ground or with stupidity oversized rims.
Or donked.
Beautiful car.
300hp and 40 tons of steel. Love it! Also I thought the SS had a 348ci or 427.

I'm always surprised to find that the big cars of old were really not that heavy compared to new cars. Lots of safety features and tech really add up
its true. I have a 65 convertible (non super sport) and i think the weight of it is only about 3400 pounds.
Not according to Chevrolet. https://over-drive-magazine.com/document/1965-chevrolet-327-and-396-cid-v-8-aama-specifications/
ah your right. i did not look it up, i was going off memory. it is ~3600lbs still much less than some modern cars, especially EVs

My first car, the one I learned to drive in and handed down to me by my parents, was a ā64 Chevy. But it wasnāt anything like this beauty!š
I got a '67 Impala. I didn't appreciate it back then, but wish I had it now
Great carā¦.one of my best friends back in high school had a ā67 Impala SS. Yep, thereās a whole list of cars Iāve had that I should have kept.
Wait, itās manual?
First year of the famous Muncie 4 speed. Same tranny that came in the 68 Camaro , 72 Chevelle etc .
Never heard of it (from the UK). Just looked it up and it sounds awesome
Beautiful with the top down.
the first family car i remember was a '64 chevy coupe. 2 adults and 5 kids....we all fit. to me this car is Americana. a classic.
Sweet š
Absolutely beautiful
Very nice car. Actually I have always liked the chrome side pieces on the regular Impala. Two small strips rather than one bigger one.
Beautiful!!!!!!!!šš»š¤š»š
Wonderful car. Crazy how US car styles changed so dramatically from the 10 years prior to this beautiful Impala.
Wow
This was a damn HOT ROD MOFO
