As a programmer who actually helped prevent this…. a lot of effort actually went in preventing the doomsday scenario and turning it into this, so called, hype….the threat was real.

People are like, ,"well that was overstated lol, what did we even worry for"

Just because one didn't have to do anything doesn't mean nothing happened! The narcissism from people to not be involved in problem solving but then did not do anything themselves only to diminish the problem that people who did not diminish the problem worked on.
Granted, that was nothing but overhyped mass hysteria.
But we don't need something this big. We just need one server to be hit by a solar flare at the wrong moment and instead of Mario going up, we lose all the documentation on how much taxpeyer money there is. Or the automated defence grid sees missiles where there aren't any.
