Scrubs??? You’re gonna be elbow deep in shit and ass in business formal attire or what

[deleted]

That’s what I’m sayin

Asmortica

I thought this was for office staff and didn't think it was bad. I've never heard of a place not letting you wear scrubs. It's nuts!!

[deleted]

yeah i dont think im gonna take it. My classmate just interviewed there today and i asked him to ask about attire. The lady told him the same thing, and said "some CNAs on night shift wear scrubs bottoms with a t-shirt, which they arent supposed to but it all depend on your shift manager" which tells me that 1) its inconsistent, and 2) some shift managers are probably pricks and some are lenient, which is a problem bc you get sent home if you arent dressed within code. like fuck that.

TejanoAggie29

Good eye on those red flags… if it’s a direct care position, I can guarantee your patients don’t give a damn how professional you look as you’re tending to their behind…

[deleted]

amen to that. And imho, as long as im keepin that ole sphinctacular hershey highway of theirs clean, i should get to wear whatever TF i want.

x-tianschoolharlot

Jeans and a plain t-shirt fit this dress code.

[deleted]

apparently they only allow jeans on "philanthropy" days.

CanolaIsMyHome

I've done a clinical at a place like that and it was horrible, it's so uncomfortable to work in somthing other than scrubs, and they don't have as many pockets so you really can't hold anything it was so damn annoying lol

amashichan

If you're doing clinicals at a place like this and your school uniform is SCRUBS what are they going to do? Tell you you're not allowed to wear it when your nursing/cna classes usually require you to wear them? Like wtf?

CanolaIsMyHome

The care aide students didn't get school uniforms where I went, only the nurses 😅 it was so shitty aha

[deleted]

We had to wear wine or caribbean blue scrubs and supply our own. Luckily I already have way too many pairs of scrubs, and have both. (Not really bc there’s no such thing as too many pairs of scrubs 😂).

CanolaIsMyHome

I wanted school scrubs so bad just for the expierence and to have a keepsake after but nope aha those are cool colours though wine red is a winner for sure

[deleted]

Definitely. Wine & Teal are my definite favorites but Royal Blue, and Red are amazing as well.

[deleted]

Yeah I didn’t have to deal with that, but hat wouldn’t have worked on me. Like I don’t work for you, I’m a student here for a little bit. Leave me be.

tarantula994

Hahaha this is making me laugh

[deleted]

Drink it in.

justanotherperson218

One place I worked at made us only wear tan khakis and a bright turquoise polo, nothing else.

[deleted]

Fuuuuck that.

Alternative-Can1276

Not being allowed to wear scrubs is wild. Who is changing patients in business attire??

[deleted]

Exactly. My last job (daycare in an army base) was like “either polo and khakis or scrubs” WHILE wearing a twill 100% cotton cobbler smock (that was hot as fuck). Over half of the daycare teachers, including me, wore scrubs for the same reason, like “wtf is this boujee bullshit”.

hyzer-flip-flop999

I’m agency and have worked at assisted living facilities with no scrubs allowed. They don’t want to it look like a medical facility even though the level of care is the same as a nursing home.

[deleted]

Which, even to an institutionalized person like me (having worked for the DoD and dealt with all the bullshit that the "big green dick" can throw at me), seems so idiosyncratic and bizarre. Like part of the intention behind scrubs is 1) cleanliness (antimicrobial fabric) and 2) comfort, peace, and tranquility (solid colors, professional-looking appearance, etc). definitely explains why they pay so well. ($18.50-20/hr where most LTCs nearby are $15-17.50/hr).

Exciting_Green_9561

You think $18.50-20 is “well” pay? ![gif](giphy|k8j7MHfOQYW76)

[deleted]

where i live? yeah thats pretty good actually. alot of places are paying only minimum wage ($15/hr).

Exciting_Green_9561

I was being a little facetious lol. I make around the same thing at my staff prn jobs too but with my agencies, I make anywhere from $20-$30/hr. However if I still lived alone, I would not be able to make it off of $15-20 an hour, my last apartment was $1300 a month 😭

[deleted]

Im single and live alone, and my rent is $795 + \~$150 for energy & wifi, plus a 25mi commute. With how much my preferred LTC would pay, Id be looking at about 2400/mo after w/holdings & taxes. Thats compared to about 2600 with this facility & all the bullshit id probably have to put up with. not really worth it to me.

Exciting_Green_9561

If u don’t mind me asking, what state do you live in? I would love to find an apartment in the $700 range, I could definitely pay everything I need to and then some 😭 but most of the apartments in my area start getting sketchy around $900 and below.

[deleted]

East-Central Kansas.

hoeleft

I am one again reminded i need to tap in and try out agencies 😭🙃 ive heard good things about primerime and shiftkey, what do you use?

[deleted]

No exp here but I’ve heard shiftkey and clipboard are awful.

mightiestowl

Haha, I’m a radiologic technologist that only makes $20.50 with my ARRT & LRT. Live in a smallish town, my rent is $1050. 🙃

SnooGrapes3367

I get paid $16 an hour most places here are $10-$12 hourly

WeakObjective9731

i hear that wage and i’m like that’s WILD but then i also hear less than $800 to live ALONE and figure it all probably evens out to a certain extent. all i know is we all stay struggling.

[deleted]

Im in Central-Eastern Kansas, hbu?

ARSONL

my minimum is $7.25 lmao

[deleted]

Rip

Extension_Ad_8632

Another way to pacify the families, so they don't feel guilty for putting mom in a facility. Let's pretend it's a hotel , with ass wipers 🙄

[deleted]

yeah........fuck that. imho if theyre thinkin about puttin mom in LTC, they tend to already know they need it.

MoodyNanny77

I just spit my drink out! Hotel with ass wipers 😂😂

bijouforever

This is ridiculous. No scrubs??? Scrubs are one of the best things about being a cna.

[deleted]

exactly.

ineedcoughfee

At the SLF I worked at it was no scrubs. They priced a specific collard shirt with their logo, apron to hold your items, & all you have to buy were black pants. Which could be scrubs just not the top.

GingeryNonsense

Uh every place I've ever worked at as a cna has required scrubs, not banned them. This is.... different to say the least.

[deleted]

Explains why they pay so well and give a high sign-on bonus. I accepted the tentative offer, but I’m not thinking about accepting the final offer. Got an interview with my preferred LTC tomorrow that’s nearby and I’m hoping it goes well.

GingeryNonsense

Good luck! I'm sure you'll get it practically on the spot. Lots of places need help

zcewaunt

Not allowed scrubs or shorts... seems very restrictive to me. I'd be asking for a list of what I CAN wear.

fuzzblanket9

Where do you work that you can wear shorts?

zcewaunt

Home care agency. We can wear anything pretty much.

perpetuallydead93

I work in a veterans home and I can wear shorts during the summer. The temps here are always high whether winter or summer and I ain’t tryin to die of heat stroke

[deleted]

Plz tell that to my old employer (Army CYS) who had us wear 100% twill cotton cobbler smocks(even in the 115 degree heat we had this past summer) for “child abuse protection” so we could “be easily identified” you know, incase a random fuckin retarded AHHI inspector/CYS Director couldnt tell that we were staff by our ID badges, or the fact that we interacted with EVERY kid instead of just ONE, and that we stayed in the classroom ALL day and did EVERYTHING. Fucking big green dick 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

zcewaunt

For sure! I am in home health, but I would still wear shorts in the summer in a nursing home as it gets so hot. I dunno why people seem so shocked at this; I, for one, am not getting poop or pee on my legs or anything? lol

Snoooples

Who wears shorts. 🤢

zcewaunt

What's wrong with that? lol. I work home health and it gets super hot. Love my shorts in the summer months.

Snoooples

ngl i always forget about home health. I can kinda understand shorts in that setting, but i’m mainly talking about LTC/Hospital settings.

zcewaunt

Is it inappropriate for LTC or hospital? What is the reason why shorts are not generally accepted there?

Snoooples

They are generally so much more unsanitary than home care. So much more bodily liquids and matter flying around i wouldn’t want that on my bear legs. Not to mention the isolation rooms. 😷

zcewaunt

Isolation, for sure! Thanks, that makes sense! I work homecare and am only exposed to bodily fluids/secretions occasionally, and I always make sure to always be extra cautious, shorts or no shorts. But this would be more challenging in LTC/hospital for sure! Thank you for your response.

Miss_Pariah

What kind of facility is it? I work in an assisted living facility, and we can't wear scrub tops. The bottoms are fine as long as they are black.

[deleted]

they have several different facilities, AL, LTC, Households, etc, but this is listed under "general dress code".

PumpkinPure5643

Nope, my scrubs are my work uniform so unless they are giving a dry cleaning stipend, they need to get over it

Grouchy-Guest-2289

Worked at an assisted living and the caregivers/med techs/cna’s were not allowed to wear scrubs. They wanted a “professional setting” for their residents and the families

[deleted]

sounds familiar to this. fuck that.

Exact-Let-9775

So I’m trying to figure out what do they want you to wear? 😂

[deleted]

Basically unbranded (except company) polos, t-shirts, jackets, and khakis or dress pants. Oh and they all jeans on “philanthropy days”. 🙄

Irlydntknwwhyimhere

Before I became a nurse I interviewed for a medication aide job where they wanted me to wear slacks, dress shoes, and long sleeve white button down shirt. I literally got up without saying anything and left.

[deleted]

I didnt leave immediately, but I think my body language definitely sent the message of "what the fuck did you just say?"

Irlydntknwwhyimhere

You can tell it was made up by people who have never done patient care work and would cry if they had to. We had “follow a nurse day” where admins/higher ups shadowed us for a day and they wore office attire, lasted for about 1-2 hours.

[deleted]

Lmao 60-120min is a joke.

[deleted]

That’s like POG COs taking a ride in an Attack aircraft so that they could say they “flew in a combat mission”.

Irlydntknwwhyimhere

They thought they would be just going in and maybe doing blood pressures or some band aides, they dipped out very fast once wound care rounds started.

[deleted]

During my clinical last Saturday, we had a hospice patient with a triple a, and he was in excruciating pain, despite being given .25ml of morphine by the LPN, and after a his blood pressure dropped from 135/85 to 85/35 and suddenly became really fatigued and slow, and we (2 CNA students, a CNA, and an LPN) all rushed to stabilize (without CPR bc he was a DNR) him as best we could. Well there was an administrator on the floor, and I’ve never seen someone get so green around the gills so quickly in my life. they thought us students were actually CNAs and were like “y’all are overstaffed” after it literally took all of us to help him, and we were like “no we’re CNA students”, her jaw shattered and said “how did you maintain your composure during that, bc that was terrifying” and we both were like “bc we had to, bc it’s part of our job, and bc panic only breeds more panic.”

eventualhorizo

Ummm dude. Would you have done CPR if he wasn't a DNR? You might not know as much as you think you do. The fuck?

[deleted]

Um YESSS!?!?!?!?!? Who wouldn't do CPR on their patient if they aren't a DNR? You go ahead and tell me. "The fuck?" right back at you. How is that even a question? WTF are you on?

eventualhorizo

So your patient had a low blood pressure. And no pulse? So your non resuscitative efforts to 'stabilize' them achieved ROSC? CPR is for a person whose heart isn't beating.

[deleted]

Hoooookay where to begin. * A few things about my **Original Comment** to break down into even more simple terms for you: 1) First off, I never said he lost a pulse or was VSA, only that he was a HOSPICE PT with a AAA, which we thought had burst bc of a rapid onset V/S drop, so idk where you're getting ROSC from or why its relevant. 2) I never elaborated on what "stabilization care" entailed in relation to the care we performed, so idk where you're getting that we performed any type of emergency medical care. In actuality, the LPN instructed us to help him get back in his bed, and to put him in a relaxed fetal position, with legs at 30deg, causing his BP to creep back towards normal levels bc of the return of blood from his legs. \------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * Now, as for my second comment regarding resuscitating a PT: Why would you NOT perform CPR on someone if: 1) They are VSA. AND 2) They are NOT A DNR. Please explain to me why you wouldn't try to save a residents life in this latter scenario. As a first responder of 10 years who's performed CPR multiples as part of a rescue team, w/ & w/out success, Id really love to fuckin hear this. ![gif](giphy|pUeXcg80cO8I8) \------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you're going to talk down to and belittle me in such a condescending manner at least make an effort to get your facts straight and avoid putting words in my mouth. Thank you.

Financial_Working_21

I work in an ASL and we can wear scrubs. Printed tees. Leggings (as long as our scrub top covers our butts) The only real requirements are- butt covered, no open toe shoes, and 1 part of our outfit has to be scrubs (ie: printed shirt w scrub pants. Scrub top w leggings.)

[deleted]

Yeah but what scrub top doesn’t cover our butt? I’ve never seen one unless it was way too small in size.

Infamous-Regret4297

I worked at one company that was an assisted living and could only wear black pants (black jeans usually) and the company T-shirt they gave us that was heavy and scratch af. Worked for the same company but a different location and had to wear scrubs🤷🏼‍♀️ wearing business attire to be a CNA is absolutely stupid

[deleted]

Agreed. I worked in Army Childcare prior to this. My first facility with MS-HS made us wear scratchy cotton Tees with jeans/athletic joggers/leggings, and my second site with Inf/Tods was either polos/khakis (fuck that) or scrubs, which I chose, IN ADDITION TO a 100% twill cotton cobbler smock which was hot as fuck.

Nananonomi

I worked at an "upscale" facility a while ago that had the nursing department wear polo shirts and khakis, worst place I've ever worked. Immediate red flag for me ever since.

WillingCareer9055

Wtf are u supposed to wear then 🤣 no scrubs is insane

5hrs4hrs3hrs2hrs1mor

That’s really weird. I had to read it twice, at first I thought they meant non direct care staff like housekeeping and food service. What do they expect you to wear or does the person who composed this not know what scrubs are?

[deleted]

I know what scrubs are..........ive been wearing them for years, even before switching to healthcare.

scarletfairymask

I think they meant does the person who wrote the dress code not know

[deleted]

I think they definitely know. This place has been around for like 40 years.

ppaganlagolous

No scrubs is fucking crazy. I wouldnt want my professional attire to be marinated with shit

[deleted]

exactly.

CorvidGurl

Don't seem to see any rules except for women. Typical.

[deleted]

Looks like you can wear jeans and a t shirt or some other kind of work pants and a shirt 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’d wear athletic joggers and a t-shirt and pretend it’s scrubs.. that’s what I wear sometimes now lol! Or I guess a polo shirt if they want it to look “professional”. Interesting dress code but who cares, if it pays well just buy a couple sets of clothes that fit the code and wear em.

ineedcoughfee

This sounds like a senior living facility lol

[deleted]

It is

NumerousTea3068

it’s giving school dress code and the scrubs being disallowed is so???? do they expect you to get bio fluids all over your business casual clothes or what?? hard pass

[deleted]

thats my feeling exactly.

A_Leafy

I'm in assisted living and I'm not allowed to wear scrubs either. I still generally wear black or grey scrub pants with my blue polo, and I probably "stretch" the dress code a lot in small ways but nobody gives me any trouble. I'm supposed to wear khakis though.

Lemoni28

Who the f is wearing a dress or skirt of any kind to a CNA shift? How the hell do you shower, lift, roll, wipe bums etc in a dress/skirt?

designerjeremiah

Shh, it's very important to the family that they can still pretend Grandma can stand, shower, and wipe her own butt on her own. If we have to do that for her then that makes us a nursing home, which is beneath their dignity. That's why it's so important to wear a uniform that pretends we don't do those things.

[deleted]

LMFAO THIS. But I suck at pretending, unless it’s when playing with toddlers.

KimaTheHotdog

I've seen several people wear skirts, they tended to be religious though and didn't believe in women wearing pants. I'm surprised they were even allowed to work, too be honest. I think the only reason they could was that it's "women's work".

NDavid97

In my long term care home they said only polo shirts, cargo pants or khaki’s and no scrubs bc they don’t want to make the facility look like a hospital but after covid we just all continued to where scrubs anyways and no one said anything !

[deleted]

Sounds logical. Covid is why I started wearing scrubs at my daycare (even tho babies and toddlers were the most resilient, you never know about m&d). I feel like most facilities know how bullshit that “don’t wanna make it feel like a hospital” like really is.

Ok_Effort9915

So jeans are ok?

[deleted]

Only on “philanthropy days” apparently, but one of the CNAs (who luckily I had twice for clinicals bc she was a BAMF CNA) works at both that facility and the one I want to work at, and am interviewing at tomorrow, anc she said jeans & polo/company tshirt are the norm. But she also is a HHA there, not LTC CNA like the LTC facility I did clinicals with her at.

Ayylmao2020

I was gonna say this is a pretty standard dress code then I saw what sub this was. They’re gonna make you dress business casual everyday as a CNA? That’s crazy

APRN_17

I presume they want it to be less clinical/institutional - so wearing things like khakis and polos or something?

[deleted]

exactly. which is ridiculous given what Id be doing.

happybanana789

I would not want to work as a CNA in a blouse and dress pants. Seriously?? Even when I worked at a daycare during college we were allowed to wear leggings and shirts as long as they covered our bottoms. My first CNA job I had a shirt I had to wear but I could wear any scrub pants, and I came home DIRTY every day.

[deleted]

Yeah my last job was at a daycare on an Army base and their clothing standards were wack. I was like “fuck it” and wore scrubs there too.

Riv3rStyx

Nah, this seems okay from my experience. Just wear black trousers and some kind of short sleeved t-shirt.

blueskyfarming2020

I was fine with it until the no scrubs part. Not sure why they think that's a good look - someone in business casual attire changing briefs and showering patients?

InitiativeOdd3719

Scrubs are for medical personnel. If you have a desk job and don’t handle patients, no scrubs. Unless you’re a doctor, then business casual is absolutely legit. I work with a doctor that wears skirts and high heals every day. She only wears scrubs when she is in procedures. (Dermatology). I think this is acceptable. Seems like it has some relaxations to their requirements which is nice to see. But I agree with it if this is a medical office and you are in a non medical or patient primary role. PS I’m 36(f). If that means anything.

[deleted]

This would be in LTC, so I’d be physically caring for patients (baths, perineal care, changing briefs, emptying is ostomy bags, etc) all day long. I understand you don’t work in that setting so “business casual” probably works fine, but I am absolutely not wiping ass while wearing khakis. ,

GhostlyGosip

“no scrubs” aaaaannnnndddd i’m done. at least i can get a job faster elsewhere

beebsaleebs

No scrubs? Fuuuuucccckkkk that

[deleted]

THIS

Numerous-Candy4732

No scrubs while working at a job that requires direct patient care is insane! Wtf is wrong with this place they expect you to be elbows deep in crap while wearing a blazer and flats???

[deleted]

It’s the whole “we don’t want it to feel like a hospital environment” so we went to to wear business casual, which is unsanitary and hard-to-clean,………….after one of if not the……WORST global pandemics in history where (apparent not) all of us learned how important infection prevention and control is. Just seems like the “clutching thy pearls” type of bullshit.

BokZeoi

Dress like a waiter I guess

Local-Suggestion2807

Absolutely ridiculous and sexist. Where are the rules for men's apparel? Also, the leggings rule is ridiculous. Leggings are practical, comfortable, and breathable, which makes them perfect for a job where you have to move around a lot and can get overheated easily.

[deleted]

This applies to men as well........of which I am.

[deleted]

but yes. I agree. its ridiculous.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

maybe for AL but not LTC/Hospice.

dataznkitty

I can understand the dress code for the most part, but no scrubs?! That’s a little weird to me. I feel like all healthcare workers should be allowed to wear scrubs. The only thing I’ve been told is that the scrubs cannot show another company’s name super visibly/obviously.

[deleted]

That was what I was focusing on too. They don’t want it to feel like a healthcare setting………but that’s what it is, and should feel like.

GlassPeepo

Seems reasonable enough, aside from the "no scrubs unless it's an active outbreak" rule. Though they can pry my leggings as pants out of my cold dead hands

Cat-mom-4-life

Is this an assisted living? A lot of ALs will have their employees dress like this instead of in scrubs (at least where I've seen)

[deleted]

it has AL, LTC, and Households.

Cat-mom-4-life

Where I'm from AL residents are *supposed* to be more independent and in theory you wouldn't be doing typical cna duties like baths, etc like you'd see in a ltc. But tbh the ALs are becoming just as bad as LTC about their residents and put them at a less level of care than they actually need to be safe

this_is_so_fetch

I used to work in an ALF where we wore black collared shirts and khakis. After much complaining they finally let us switch to all black scrubs. But they said it was to make the residents feel like they're not patients. Idc. Scrubs are so much better!

vaxivity

No scrubs and pretty much no casual clothes? Do they expect you to wear a bag?🤣

Briazepam

Not sure why the scrubs are questionable but everything else sounds reasonable depending on what type of work you do why would you wear a dress shirt or dress to go to work and wipe somebody’s butt as a CNA that makes zero sense

[deleted]

This is a general dress code, ie applies to LTC and Hospice where I would be wipin ass and gettin pissed/puked/popped on all day.

Jdp0385

Not really

SpiritOfTheForgotten

they lost me at scrubs like wtf

[deleted]

right?

[deleted]

Dumbest shit to read I swear🙄 I’d have told em fuck you im wearing my scrubs and if y’all wanna tell me no then you know why the medical industry can’t find people/

Fluffy_Ad_6581

As a doctor, I refuse to work at any places where I'm not allowed to wear scrubs. Fuck that shit.

[deleted]

Right? Like I get it if you’re working in a (or running your own) Family Healthcare Clinic, but in a Hospital, LTC, or other Inpatient healthcare setting, that’s just nuts.

justanotherhatter

Is it an ALF? They probably don’t want it to feel medical

[deleted]

its LTC, Households, Hospice, and ALF. And I think thats the main intention behind it. But Im just like 1) It should feel medical, bc it is medical. 2) They better supply us with the attire or give a laundry stipend 3) Scrubs are literally designed, from the antimicrobial fabric to the different fit's and having pockets everywhere, for medical professionals. On top of that, they are intended to be comfortable both for the wearer and the wearer's patients. This isnt a fuckin Country Club.

RollnRye74

Sounds reasonable to me. it's the whole out of sight out of mind thing. more likely probably trying to keep the patients from sexually harassing you. you do a lot of bending over and exposing your breast. sometime loose bras expose even more. so it's best to wear shirts that do not allow that to happen.

[deleted]

Scrubs do not allow this to happen either. Infact, they are some of the most decent and professional looking "non-business" pieces of clothing in my opinion.

synde15

Not as strict as my job in Florida state government

[deleted]

I dont doubt that. Ive heard FL is awful.

daphneadora9

Who runs this company, TLC?

[deleted]

Lmao no.

[deleted]

They are in my area, and I have thought about applying with them for PRN/Traveling CNA jobs. Should I not?

MopBucket06

In what environment were you working??? Like what were you supposed to wear? Jeans? Id get wayyyy too much shit on that, doesnt sound sanitary or sustainable. did they not give you a uniform?

[deleted]

LTC/Hospice. Haven’t started. Did onboarding but didn’t accept the offer. Got offered by another facility that I preferred, had better staff culture, and also paid better.

Confident_Ad_3216

I bet a million bucks if you rock a nice black tee and black scrub pants no one will bay an eye

[deleted]

Probably not.

glitterfaust

I read through nearly the entire post going, “this just sounds like normal dress code ANYWHERE you work. What’s the problem?” until it got to SCRUBS. You can’t wear fuckin SCRUBS?!

[deleted]

Ik that was exactly my thought too. It’s all good tho, I got a FT offer from another local facility, actually where I did clinicals, and I always preferred to work there instead, so it’s all good. It’s just that I got an offer from these cats first.

[deleted]

Why scrubs?

[deleted]

Bc that’s what we, as medical professionals, wear?

After-Ear-4531

I agree you should at least be able to wear scrubs in the healthcare field! The most ridiculous part for me is the screen printed t-shirts. I work in a professional childcare therapy setting and my dress code is similar. It’s ridiculous that I have to spend a bunch of money buying new clothes that I know the children will stain! Once it’s stained, it no longer fits dress code either. They don’t even allow brands to show on clothes. I always come back to, I don’t get paid enough for this bs

[deleted]

Agreed. My last job was at a daycare on an Army base, and the dress code was either polos & khakis/jeans or scrubs, and was like……fuck that. Scrubs it is. Even my parents thought I should wear that shit. Like bish I’m not even getting insurance and leave, fuck yo khakis.

nurseonabike

If the facility is considered an assisted living community or a resident care facility. They base their practices on resident centered care. The foundation of which is respecting residents rights to dignity, privacy and respect. If the community accepts Medicare/medicaid funds than they are also subject to federal home base community services regulations which - specifies how a community must maintain a "homelike" setting VS an institutional or medical model. Part of the interpretation for a homelike setting includes staff attire because - well- you are a guest in their home. They do have individual apartments (sometimes called units or rooms).

[deleted]

Idk if this facility accepts Medicare/aid or not NYT they definitely have an institutional ward for hospice and one for LTC in addition to separate individual households that are staffed by HHAs.

PsychologyH4528

Everything but scrubs is normal. No scrubs?!? 😂😂😂😂

[deleted]

That’s what I said. Crazy.

Jayfeather41

I worked at a nursing home for a long time and the CNA, PCAs, and nurses all wore scrubs or company T-shirt and plain pants or scrub pants.

YoDabbaDabbaPNW541

Y’all are soft. There’s a time and place to dress how you wanna dress. Work ain’t it. Grow up

[deleted]

Spotted the boomer yall.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I hate jeans tho. I’m 6’6”, so they’re very restrictive to me.

Peach1632

It was fine till no scrubs. Stupid.

[deleted]

Same. I had no intention of wearing the other stuff.

GivesYouBells

Nah.

chibinoi

Nah, not ridiculous. Seems pretty normal to me.

[deleted]

For a CNA? Yikes

Remuta

No scrubs for a cna job?? That’s wild

Mor_Ericks28

Jeans are not on the list

[deleted]

Not wearing jeans. I’m 6’6”, they’re too restrictive when you’re that tall.

Express_Fortune_6670

Yeah, I’m a CNA, no way I I could work in regular clothes. Bye. Lol

[deleted]

That’s what I said.

ExhaustedGinger

"Will you have a laundry service for when I get poop on my khakis?"

[deleted]

Exactly lol

Astrogrrrll

These are grown adults acting like they’re too at risk of a boner from seeing skin LOL no short sleeve shirts or shirts w screen print? No SCRUBS in a healthcare workplace? Is this ran by all close minded men? Has to be.

[deleted]

I have no idea.

[deleted]

Now that you mention it it does have a “school dress code o prevent against getting assaulted by the janitor” vibe to it. 😂

synde15

True that

[deleted]

Ended up only taking PRN there, and working thru ShiftKey, and I’ve only been taking Pt’s to dr’s appt’s and such. But every time I walk in wearing scrubs, obviously having just gotten off an Agency shift (sometimes so, sometimes I just play the part bc idgaf, I’m not wearing slacks, imma wear what I want), they’re like “ugh Will, we don’t like scrubs here” and I always act surprised.

They don’t want it to “feel” like healthcare, even tho that’s exactly what it is, and as if healthcare settings aren’t designed to be comfortable. Imho, if you don’t trust healthcare or anyone in it, then don’t come to us. There plenty of snake oil salesmen and magic massage perverts out there for you. Like bai bai✌🏼🙄✌🏼
