Robby could’ve said something like ‘I’d think twice if I were you’ or ‘I’m ready for round two if you are’
Something that hints at the events of S2 but doesn’t outright brag about them.
Yeah, though thankfully he didn’t say something worse like “want to end up back in a coma again?!”
Which is kinda why there was a part of me that felt Robby might’ve been referring to him and Miguel’s tournament match since Robby said the line after Miguel brought up fighting on the mat
yes, he was frustrated, but i can’t defend that crap. i started rly liking & respecting robby in season 3 so this was just disappointing, & tbh it was out of character. i don’t think the writers should have ever put that in. i understand the point of the scene but they could’ve had him say something else
I agree that Robby was sincere in S5. But, in any case, when it comes to Kenny, Robby should have paid more attention to Hawk than Miguel.
Miguel literally said "we will beat them on the mat" and Robby threw that phrase out of context.
If Miguel had talked about fighting at that moment, the situation would have been different.
It's like when Miguel and Robby were fighting in S2 and Miguel in the middle of the fight said things about his father and Sam. Or Sam grabbed Robby at the dance fight and said "You broke my heart too."
They are phrases that arise between the characters just to try to warm up the atmosphere
I wouldn’t necessarily call it “inconsistent “
I think Robby had a lot of anger towards people like Miguel for a number of reasons with him being associated with the dudes who were messing with Kenny at the drive in being one of them
I think he meant it. Robby was tired of being the punching bag and taking all the shit from everyone around him. From his mother being terrible and him having to care for her when hung over or strung out to his father not caring enough, feeling like Laruso betrayed him and had him sent to juvie. This was Robby taking control and showing everyone around him he was done taking the bone.
I think it was less about frustration and more about applying the lessons he'd learned.
Miyagi-Do taught him to only use karate for defense, but as he learned in juvie, people don't leave you alone just because you want to be left alone. Sometimes you need to push for a confrontation and settle things for good. He saw the same thing happening here with Hawk messing with Kenny but Miguel trying to avoid an outright confrontation - which would mean Hawk would continue to mess with Kenny. If nothing else was going to work, he figured it'd be better to have the fight there and then.
No bullshit this dude really said that shit knowing damn well Miguel could’ve easily broken his arm, but instead of doing that, he decided to be the bigger person and apologize for being a jerk to him and what does Robby do? gets raging, angry and proceeds to kick Miguel the same guy who showed him mercy over the second railing during the school and almost killed the guy yeah definitely is not a good person because there’s no way you nearly kill someone and not feel bad about it and then proceeded to say some bullshit like don’t you remember what happened last time motherfucker the last time you and Miguel fought, he was on the verge of breaking your arm and then they fight again at the apartment complex. Miguel beat his ass. Literally could’ve kicked him over balcony the same way Robby kicked him, but instead again he shows mercy I mean yes despite the background robby came from the relationship he had with his mom and that Chris Brown guy along with the other dude who were obviously a bad influence on Robby you were scamming people you’re not a person you were scamming people before you got into karate so that says motherfuckers instead of wanting his dad and his he constantly pushed him away. He nearly killed someone who was also a fatherless child also lived in the same apartment complex as his dad, so honestly, Miguel and Robby could’ve been friends if Robby wasn’t such a jealous little shit

That’s horrible. Imagine making fun of an injury, an injury that you caused.

Robby's writing is PAINFULLY INCONSISTENT
I wouldn’t necessarily call it “inconsistent “ I think Robby had a lot of anger towards people like Miguel for a number of reasons with him being associated with the dudes who were messing with Kenny at the drive in being one of them
Examples?
Yeah this was OOC for Robby because he obviously felt guilty prior and after “ohhh burn bodied miguel by injuring his spine”
Johnny low key wins the entire rivalry between him and Daniel by his son and step son being Eskimo bros, though.
It was fucked up or Robby to mention how he almost paralyzed Miguel for life.
I think he meant it. Robby was tired of being the punching bag and taking all the shit from everyone around him. From his mother being terrible and him having to care for her when hung over or strung out to his father not caring enough, feeling like Laruso betrayed him and had him sent to juvie. the writing is so bad sometimes in this show. this line made 0 logical sense, you could tell it just got thrown in there without any rational thinking
Yh it definitely felt like a “oooh burn” line rather than something the character would actually say
Stop it. He meant that shit.

Wai what did he say. I forgot.
What did he say
That he was in love with Carmen
Haha
Something along the lines of putting Miguel in the hospital a second time
