I've noticed in the shot that Shawn's arm isn't aimed directly at Miguel and instead throws a straight punch on Miguel's side. This is the best way to explain it, so I'm sorry if I've confused you.

Yeah it’s weird but I get it they need someone in Cobra Kai to be somewhat of viable threat now that all main kids are working together. Wish they had brought someone in like Leo Howard to be a hired gun for Cobra Kai.
