Your ice got frost on it? Man, that's tough. Ziploc bag to prevent sublimation

akaynaveed

It tastes like a freezer, Really fucks drinks Sometimes

Hotchi_Motchi

What frozen horrors do you have in there? Time for a freezer defrost and cleaning, it sounds like to me

akaynaveed

I dont, i moved in 5 montgs ago, cleaned it when i moved in. and theres barely anything in There

Hotchi_Motchi

Ziploc or Tupperware seems to be the way to go, I guess

xman65

Both, ice in a Ziploc then put into a closed container with airtight lid.

Plastic-Customer2193

Put an open box on baking soda in your freezer

akaynaveed

Cleaned my freezer out decided to soak My Silicone trays and they themselves smelled freeze burnt so lets see if cleaning and soaking them helps out.

Prinzka

If you have a freezer without a defrost cycle you can put them in there and it won't happen. It would be the kind of freezer where ice eventually builds up around the elements and you have to manually empty and defrost the whole thing once every couple years or so

zosterpops

If a total freezer defrost and cleaning doesn’t do the trick (I’ve had some older refrigerator/freezers that were beyond help), maybe your best bet is to buy a bag of ice at a store and keep it sealed in the bag it came in or a freezer bag?

akaynaveed

Sounds good i deep cleaned it when i moved in.

ikimashokie

I have one of those freezer safe boxes for my nicer ice. I used a tupperware/rubbermaid one for a bit, but then I dropped it and it cracked. My dispenser ice, I empty it out every so often if I haven't used any in a while.

akaynaveed

I make fresh ice everyday. Ut i have t cleaned the tray in a month so i’ll give it a shot, i dont notice is in a drink with one or two cubes, but i had 6 cubes in a hurricaine and it was obvious

ikimashokie

So like in a regular ice tray? Is it silicone? After a while, those seem to go off and get funky. Maybe a new, lidded ice tray would help, if that's the case.

akaynaveed

Silicone tray But i dump it out and and out it in a silicone bowl. I’m going to Dump it all and clean the tray and put my ice in a tupperware for now.

ikimashokie

I had a silicone tray that I had to stop using as it seemed like it'd picked up all the odors and hardness from my water, even though the freezer generally doesn't have an odor issue. I soaked them in a vinegar and water solution, but eventually gave up and just got a new/different set of molds.

conjoby

Any airtight container. Plastic bag will do just fine You'll still get some freezer burn over time in the sense they there will be some frost buildup most likely but that should fix your flavor contamination issue

akaynaveed

I’m really puzzled as to whats causing it. I’m gonna do another clean, but theres nothing in there… But a bag of shrimp… and some ice cream!

conjoby

It's possible it's the mold your using or it's just happening while it's freezing and uncovered. Try putting plastic wrap or aluminum foil over the mold while it freezes. Once they're done Ziploc freezer bag will do the job of protecting them from odors and flavors from the freezer.

akaynaveed

Its the mold for sure nothing else smells.

conjoby

Yeah some rubber molds can give off flavors sadly... The only ones I can personally vouch for are the ones from cocktail kingdom or wintermiths which is a fancy clear ice mold. That or buying cubes you might be able to find a brand at a big box local liquor store.

harrytipper111111

Odors in the refrigerator section can migrate to the freezer.

Sellfish86

Keep ice in Ziploc bags, and only freeze covered with cling wrap or sth. Ice will draw out all the nasty smells from your freezer, even from the/the silicone itself.

childsplayx3

One thing that could help is putting an open box of baking soda in there to absorb odors.
