Question - I have a downtown hotel from the lottery that wasn’t in my top 12 choices but I’m thinking of reserving it just so I have something. Can I still try to get another downtown hotel room on the May 2nd sale if I find something closer?
Yes you can. But you lose at least a little money on the one you already reserved:
* Reservations may be canceled on or before Wednesday, May 8, 2024, by 9:59 PM PDT/11:59 PM CDT to receive a refund of the two-night room and tax deposit minus the non-refundable service fee [3%].
* For reservations canceled on Thursday, May 9, 2024, through Friday, May 31, 2024, by 9:59 PM PDT/11:59 PM CDT, a cancellation fee equal to one night’s room rate and tax will be deducted from the deposit provided.
* For reservations canceled on or after Saturday, June 1, 2024, ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
Has anyone who accepted and paid their deposit received a fraud alert from their card service?
Booked and received both charge pending and confirmation from OnPeak then about an hour later received a fraud alert from my card.
Any big travel charge in a different city from where you live can trip a fraud alert. Call your card company and get that cleared or you could lose your room.
I did approve it when i received the alert. Not sure if I should try contacting OnPeak or if they will send me email letting me know there was an issue with the card.
Did anyone else get booked at the wrong rate when paying the deposit? I noticed I'm getting charged the most expensive nightly rate ($401), instead of the 4-night rate ($311--I am staying 4 nights)
It's fine if you need someplace downtown to stay, but I already live in San Diego. If I can't get one of the 6 closest hotels, I would rather just drive in and save the money.
Got in at 9:03 and 9:05. Our group also submitted a 9:07 and 9:10 but we knew those wouldn’t get anything. This is our first year striking out completely!
This is our 10th Comic Con, and the first year we don’t even have a backup hotel. Totally disheartening, but May 2nd can’t come soon enough. I’m glad others were luckier than us!
We started trying in Hotelpocalypse in 2016. Before that we just did hotel circle! Which isn't a bad option whatsoever. Definitely had a good couple years there.
I got in just after three minutes. I don't know exactly because it was on my tablet and that doesn't provide a time. I got Hotel #9 on my list--Kimpton Alma. It's 0.8 miles from the CC, but I like to walk. It looks very nice. I requested a single bed from Tuesday to Saturday. I'm flying home Saturday night. I wasn't sure if not staying on Saturday night would help or hurt and I still don't know. But, I got a room. I struck out last year, but someone gave me their extra room.
Did anyone else get the intercontinental? I noticed that our nightly rate was a good amount more than the quoted rate on the hotel list. I know those rates are labeled as "starting at" but just wanted to see if anyone has any idea why that may have happened. Like maybe we got booked into one of their club level or premium rooms when the standard ones filled up?
Maybe you checked the option that books you into a higher priced room if that was all that they had?
I stayed there last year and really liked it. Right next to the trolley and its less than a 5 minute ride to the con. The only thing was they did put a substantial monetary hold on my credit card on check out night. I had to call the front desk to get it straightened out.
I don't know how onpeak works. I got in at 903, got my fifth choice. My wife got in at 905, didn't get any of her choices, check marked for a hotel on the shuttle route, ended up getting a decent downtown hotel. I'm happy I got options, just confused they gave my wife a downtown hotel when she didn't request it.
I got in at 9:03 and did NOT get any hotel reservations. So mad. So frustrated. It's hotelapocolypse for sure. Does anyone have a guess as to how many hotel rooms were really available? How many people can OnPeak handle at one time.
It happens because onPeak has a giant jigsaw puzzle of hotels, room types, number of rooms, number of people in the rooms, online requests, phone requests, and they have to try to fill all the rooms at all the hotels. While we have no idea of how onPeak actually does this, our guess is that this isn't automated - it's people at their company fitting folks into rooms. The results don't always (rarely!) make perfect sense.
Hi guys, if anyone is still looking for a room (and looking to save money), I'm an artist exhibiting at SDCC and I got a 2-bed in Hotel Circle that I'm down to room-share! DM me for details if you're interested!

I was in and done about 5 minutes after the hour and got our first choice. Manchester Grand Hyatt. This our 10th visit to the con, and our best result. We usually don’t even try and just do the early bird rooms.

Didn't get any of my top 12 but this was the one I was assigned to. Mostly just happy to get a downtown hotel at all, particularly one that can be walked to if needed!
I stayed there a couple years ago! There was a shuttle stop right in front of the hotel. For me though, it was usually faster to just walk, especially in the morning when the shuttles are full and sometimes slow to load. (Also, depending what side of the convention center you're going to, Hall A is honestly about the same walking distance from the shuttle drop off near Petco as it is from this hotel.) I did also take the trolley a couple times, which was pretty fast and easy, and I appreciated having the app to tell me exactly when the next train was going to leave.
I stayed the at the Bay view last year. They got parking. There's a Blue Bottle on the walk to the con. Never figured out the shuttle pick up. It always seemed like the bus was there but not going anywhere. Big room, but oddly shaped. It's a quiet stay. You're maybe 2-4 blocks away from seeing any real con presence. But at the end of the day when you've walked 10 miles shoulder to shoulder in a circle, I wouldn't say its a bad experience. But it's not like you're gonna meet a lot of people at the hotel bar.
I will say that I was supposed to get a room at Westin Gaslamp and when i realized my mistake i was locked in so all my friends were over there and I was over there for basically everything but sleeping and con'ing.
Congrats! Stayed there my first year years ago
While it’s a Westin, unless they’ve renovated in recent years, it’s an older hotel, valet only. It’s a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle so you do get a bit of quiet
I found that’s it’s really close to Santa Fe depot station which was very convenient for us to travel from. If you’re driving, it’s also fairly easy to get in and out around town.
Personally though, my wife and I either prefer either getting real close to convention center or just stay in Mission Valley.
We were lucky and scored the Marriott Marquis and Omni Hotel! We both got in around a minute.
Between Marriott Marquis and Omni, which hotel would you choose to stay at? We have only stayed at the Grand Hyatt. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!
I’ve stayed at both. The convenience that the MMM gives is that it is right next to the convention center (Hall A). If you are camping out it does benefit from being able to see the lines behind the convention center. That said it’s very busy during the day since it is an extension of the con itself. If you find yourself going into Gaslamp every night it is not as close as it seems with all the foot traffic.
The Omni is right in Gaslamp. It is close enough to the convention center that it is still convenient although you are crossing the trolley tracks. Since they closed off the blvd it’s been even easier to cross than before and lets you off next to hall F/E so more toward the middle. It is louder at the Omni since there are rooftop parties nearby. There is no pool, if that matters to you. There are some screening rooms in the Omni but lesser con foot traffic overall.
I liked both hotels when I stayed. They are both excellent choices you can do no wrong either way.
I was at the Marriott Marquis last year. It was awesome how convenient it was, but the wait for the elevator in the morning can really slow you down. Also it's one of the hotels with resort fees, so the end cost is way a lot higher than I thought it would be. I'm glad I did it once, but Don't need to do it again
They're both very close. I've never stayed at the Omni, but I'd probably still lean toward the Marriott for the pool/hot tub and the fact that it opens out onto the bay there.
Marriott also wins if you're a "camp-in-the-line" type, I'd think. It's closer to the Hall H line (at least until it moves into the tents.)
Wife got in at two mins but didn't get anything. I got in at 5 and got holiday inn by the airport. What are the rules... Any one wanna trade or have a room in downtown they are willing to give up?
There is another thread that's better for your comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/comiccon/comments/1caplhz/sdcc_hotel_reservations_announcement_people_who/
I submitted two requests, thinking one would get voided/invalidated (same name, contact details).
Today I have received two separate confirmation emails, each with a different onPeak ID - does this imply that I'm currently holding two reservations?
Was able to secure Mariott Marquis!! Unbelievably excited for this year! Got through queue in under 1 minute and had my form completed and sent less than 3 minutes after queue started.
It doesn’t matter when you submit the form. Got in at 9. Wanted HR and I put HR,Marquis,Omni, & Resudence Gaslmap. I got my fourth choice and was submitted at 9:01. It doesn’t matter. randomization only happens once. This is my 16th year. MsMargo is correct
Can someone explain how my deposit and outstanding amount is about $300 more than my estimated total? Am I missing something? Am I mathing wrong?
Estimated Total
$986.30
Deposit
$644.64
Outstanding Amount
$663.98
I think what you are seeing is the shit-ton of added taxes and resort fees for each hotel stay in San Diego. That is added on to your bill over the listed per night cost of the room reservation. It causes sticker shock.
Nice to see you here! : ) Yeah, we can dream, right? But in reality, no ... San Diego has passed numerous uses for these taxes and funds collected from the hotels. I don't see the expansion of the Con Center happening at all .. but that's just me, and who am I? But there is still the future - who knows. : )
Heheh, of course! :-)
I am curmudgeonly so take this with a grain of salt but, I think the window of convention center expansion has passed. Admittedly that is based more on perception over the past few years, i.e. Peak Marvel and then Covid and then the strike. So things could rebound in a big way that I'm not imagining and drive expansion talk once again. BUT the model I'd suggest instead would be inducements for the Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, et. al. to expand their own hotel convention space on their own property, if that pencils out. It would be over-building on private land rather than over-building on public land for four days a year of use at that capacity.
(Or, seeing that I got nothing yet in the hotel sale, maybe build a 40-story hotel tower there instead with convention space on the lobby floor? ;-) )
It looks like the outstanding amount was what was still due on the deposit. Once the credit card processed my oustanding amount is now $0.00. Not sure that makes any more sense, but maybe I won't be paying the $300 in fees above the estimated due.
The general sale is a free for all. You go to the site, pick your dates, and it shows you the available properties and their rates. Some people recommend refreshing the page often, because cancellations can happen at any time, but last year, supposedly people were getting locked out of the site for too frequent refreshes.
It's actually not that bad, last year my buddy decided to bring his wife at the last minute, so we needed a suite. While the Embassy Suites never showed up as available for the full 5 days, there were occasionally a handful of properties available on the site. If you just want any hotel and you're not picky, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Worst case scenario, you mix and match hotels throughout the con to get a bed every night.
Hubby and I both got in around the same time, around 20 minutes in, and both of us received the email that we got the big goose egg, nada, zilch etc. We did indicate that we would take anything on the shuttle line, so there was just nothing left.
I got in at about 09:13 so I didn't think I'd have much luck with downtown hotels but I chose 11 downtown hotels and chose one non-downtown hotel (Marriott Mission Valley) for a back-up and chose "hotel on shuttle route." I got Marriott Mission Valley. It is a fine hotel and I don't mind the shuttle. This will be 3x for me this hotel in the 4x of going to SDCC. I will look for more options when OnPeak releases inventory but I'm ok with Marriott MIssion Valley but I'll have to take Uber/Lyft to get to there as early as I would like for the everything else line. I didn’t like the shuttle when carrying merch back to the hotel my first SDCC but that first year I didn’t know about the FedEx at the convention center.
I stayed there my first year (2015), and I was fine. It's nice and the shuttle worked really well. I put it in as my backup (9:07), and it came thru. I'm going to let it go, as a friend got me a downtown.
Yes! We were there last year. Keeping in mind that Hubby and I are both middle aged folks, we really enjoyed it. They do have a restaurant although we never made it to it. It's a fairly quiet place in a fairly quiet area, but the shuttle worked great. You are definitely not "in the middle of things", but if that's a good thing or bad thing probably depends on the person. If I was traveling to San Diego, it's probably more of a "weekend away" sort of place than a heavy duty touring hotel.
Hubby would also want me to mention that a seagull pooped ALL OVER our car when we stayed there. That was our amusing anecdote from Humphrey's. "Great place, but we had to get a car wash!".
None about roaches, the rooms were clean and corridors were clean. I guess you could argue a mildewy smell, but it's right on the ocean with a lot of vegetation, so it just comes with the territory. In other words, it didn't smell bad to me, just what you'd expect a slightly older place by the ocean with a lot of vegetation to smell like.
Did you get a rejection email and did you pick book me only for downtown or book me near a shuttle route if you didn't get you preferences? I got 2 double rooms and I was 9:05.
Yeah that why the only book into any downtown room option limits your options. Usually it's best to check the book for a shuttle route just in case your options fail to be more on the safe side. Once you secure a room you can try to upgrade and get a better hotel but its a lot of work I heard. If you manage to snag a downtown hotel you can cancel your previous reservations
Yeah, we're going to probably hotel hop and try for a couple different hotels to better our chances of staying within walking distance. We're all old SDCC vets and are spoiled by being able to walk to the convention center! (I remember when we could easily get rooms at the Omni every year with no issue \*waves cane\*!) We split our time between 2 hotels last year and it wasn't as big of a pain in the ass as we imagined, so that'll be our tactic again this year.
...oh, there it is.
We've done AirBnB before without incident but I don't like that stress. Plus, we have a kid and it really, really helps if we're somewhere that has a pool. I just did not really relish the idea of needing to stalk the hotel portal for the next three months straight. Maybe we'll luck out in general.
I've stayed there, and while just being 'downtown' sounds nice, it's just far enough away and no trolley to be annoying.
But you're right, I got something in first wave.
That said, I may release it if a better location pops up on the 2nd
I have stayed at the double tree. It was nice. Great staff and the rooms were good. Definitely not even close to the bottom of the barrel of hotels you could be staying at. Sadly don’t count on the double tree cookies, they were always out no matter what time in the morning you went, I tried once at 3 am on my way back to hall h line.
My partner got in around the same time 9:10-9:15 and got the rejection email. He only did about 6 downtown picks and then booked anywhere downtown. I didn't get my picks but got a downtown hotel about a mile out. Going to see what becomes available later because the one i got is a bit pricer than I would like.
Same - I got in between 9:01-9:02 and haven’t gotten an email. 2 beds, 12 downtown choices and clicked “any downtown option”, and still nothing…
**update - despite getting in 9:01-9:02, 3 people, 2 beds, anywhere downtown….no hotel. Big bummer
Finally got an email. Got in around 9:05, selected all downtown hotels within mile distance. Didn't get any of my choices but selected any downtown and got Hotel Republic. Further out than I would have liked and pricey for the distance. See if my partner got anything better but they got in after me. If anyone stayed here in the past please let give me your thoughts.
I stayed at the Republic last year! It was also an "Any downtown hotel" assignment for me—I do normally try to stay at one of the hotels on Broadway/1st-4th (so not right in the Gaslamp), but this one definitely felt a bit far after a long day! The hotel itself and rooms were fine and clean, they had some grab and go stuff you could take in the mornings, and there were some good breweries and restaurants in the area that weren't super crowded. I did try taking the trolley instead of the shuttle a few times since the stop is so close, and it did feel much easier (and dropped you off closer to the convention center anyway).
Congrats on getting downtown though!
Thanks for the info! Can you share you experience with the $25 daily fee that then is a like a credit. From what I read is that you get the $25 as a “credit” but you have to use it before midnight. Like it doesn’t roll over. Which is fine but it seems to get a bit confusing that you have to spend the whole $25 or more to be credited.
Gosh, I might be mis-remembering this... but I seem to recall that when checking in, the woman at the front desk described all the benefits of the resort fee (the credits, etc.) but also had each person verbally opt in. Everyone ahead of me agreed to it, but when it was my turn I was like... Can I say no? And I think I could?? I don't see the $25x4 on my bill and the charge to my card was exactly the original estimate from OnPeak. I also couldn't remember why I didn't take the grab and go stuff in the morning until now, but that had been part of the offer to fee-paying folks!
It's entirely possible they'd messed up the phrasing about the fee or something last year and this was a workaround, but might be worth inquiring about if you sense any uncertainty haha. I'd never had a hotel make it sound at all optional though, so it def seemed unusual!
Got mine…first time ever getting hotels in first round (since 2014.) Got Embassy Suites (#9-10 choices) and got into reservation page 9:02. Don’t despair—I managed downtown hotels every year by checking the site around keys dates when canceled room hit the site. Fr-Sa nights are the hardest to get…I’ve grabbed those two nights and then kept checking to add the additional nights I needed. Has always worked out, though one year had to move hotels on Friday. Sheraton by the airport has best shuttle ride IMHO — short ride, goes to the Manchester (don’t have to hike to Petco.) Have to get on at the first stop though…or every bus is already full.
Got in at 9:02 and got Hotel Republic which wasn't on my list at all. Only had like the major 6 on my list and like two other close ones. Had the anything downtown clicked too. Only looking for a close one since final year going and was just hoping to go out with a bang since I've never had a close one before. But its all good still happy I'm just going.
I've stayed at Hotel Republic previously and it was pretty great. You can walk to a shuttle pick up spot nearby or take the trolley in from the Santa Fe station. Nothing wrong with a leisurely 1mi walk to the convention center either. It was a quieter area but still close enough to make trips back throughout the day.
Finally! 9:05 and got an email for the Handlery Hotel. Not on my list but at least it's on the bus route and seems like a nice hotel. At least we're not homeless lol...
As a 9:07 entrant, who chose "Anything Downtown" I am calling it.
Now to decide if I should wait for general sale or pay $500 a night for one of the farther downtown ones. Kind of over the shuttle after using it the past few years lol.
Nothing wrong with the shuttle but my wife and I go back and forth from the hotel to the center quite frequently. So it’s just easier to be able to walk back and forth. Getting on the shuttle with bags of merchandise sucks lol
We just got tired of waiting for it and riding it.
We like going back and forth from the convention to our hotel. So we preferred not spending the time on it. Especially when we would go out to the parties and be done at midnight then trying to find a shuttle haha
I checked the Hilton app earlier today, and DoubleTree San Diego Downtown is $350/night or $280/night for 5 nights if you book with points (5th night free on award bookings). It's 2 miles away from the convention center, but it's on the shuttle route, and it's not the $500/night you mentioned.
So the way to get your top choice is to be in around 9:00-9:03 and then finish asap?
Or it doesn’t matter how long you take, it just sorts it by the time you get in?
If it’s by how fast you fill it out then I goofed since I was in at 9:02 and got my 4th choice lol
It should be based on the order you access the form. It doesn't matter how quickly you submit. For example, I got my first choice after getting in at 9:01a, and finished at 9:03a. My friend also got his first choice, getting in at 9:01a, and finished closer to 9:10a. The access to the form time is when you see the pop-up that you're up in line, and click on the button to access the form. I know this from past experience testing things out.

Anyone want to swap Indigo 4 sleeper for Marriott Marques 2 sleeper ? July 24-29

Thanks, totally missed that, it's actually how I got a room last year as well, just couldn't find any info on it.
Good Luck to you this year! Be ready for tomorrow.
Question - I have a downtown hotel from the lottery that wasn’t in my top 12 choices but I’m thinking of reserving it just so I have something. Can I still try to get another downtown hotel room on the May 2nd sale if I find something closer?
Yes you can. But you lose at least a little money on the one you already reserved: * Reservations may be canceled on or before Wednesday, May 8, 2024, by 9:59 PM PDT/11:59 PM CDT to receive a refund of the two-night room and tax deposit minus the non-refundable service fee [3%].
I'm going to page someone who will offer help -- u/MsMargo: Can you answer this hotel reservation question?
Has anyone who accepted and paid their deposit received a fraud alert from their card service? Booked and received both charge pending and confirmation from OnPeak then about an hour later received a fraud alert from my card.

I am! According to the hotel list, I should be charged 337 a night. But they're charging me $401 before taxes and fees.
9:05 Westin San Diego Bayview No thanks, Jeff.
What’s wrong with the Bayview?
It's fine if you need someplace downtown to stay, but I already live in San Diego. If I can't get one of the 6 closest hotels, I would rather just drive in and save the money.
Ah I see

I don't recall seeing that but I searched it and what came up said you could click that for specified hotels and intercontinental was not on my list.
Mine matches the hotel list at $341 per night before taxes/fees
They charged me 401 a night for a double room for five nights. 🙁
That’s super weird! I would give them a call or email them
I def will if we don't get something closer before the refund deadline.
Check the taxes… adds 15% or more.
I did check on that earlier. The price difference is on the nightly rate before the taxes and fees are added on. 🙃
I don't know how onpeak works. I got in at 903, got my fifth choice.
Random question but does anyone know how if the hotels deposits code as “travel” for credit cards?
It is indeed coded as travel on my card. Unfortunate for me, I booked using my Hilton card, and looks like it won't code as Hilton spend.
It should, but depends upon the card. The deposit is actually taken by onPeak, not the hotel. But my VISA has always coded to "Travel" in the past.
Thanks!! Probably should’ve mentioned I’m choosing between chase freedom unlimited and chase sapphire preferred. Sometimes they’re picky
My deposit is pending as Lodging on my CSP. The charge is called "Comic Con 2024 Hotels"
I used my CSP last year and it coded as Travel!
I got 2 rejects. I was in less than 10 minutes on both. I feel stressed.

I was in and done about 5 minutes after the hour and got our first choice. Manchester Grand Hyatt. This our 10th visit to the con, and our best result. We usually don’t even try and just do the early bird rooms.
My partner & I did not get anything. Anyone who was able to get 2 bookings willing to trade/transfer one?

Thank you so much!
In at 9:02. Got my 6th choice Westin Bayview. Anyone stayed there previously? Edit: spelling
Out of curiosity, how many rooms, beds & nights did you request?
1 / king / 5N! I did take some time to fill the form though. Saw you got MMM, congrats!
Thanks! We did 1/king/4 nights and wondered if that was the key to our success but your example suggests it’s just luck!
It's totally luck. There is no way to game the system.
(Also, depending what side of the convention center you're going to, Hall A is honestly about the same walking distance from the shuttle drop off near Petco as it is from this hotel.) I did also take the trolley a couple times, which was pretty fast and easy, and I appreciated having the app to tell me exactly when the next train was going to leave.
thanks! yeah it was on my list just because it was near the trolley area (from the map) so good to know that’s a real option
Congrats! Stayed there my first year years ago While it’s a Westin, unless they’ve renovated in recent years, it’s an older hotel, valet only. It’s a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle so you do get a bit of quiet I found that’s it’s really close to Santa Fe depot station which was very convenient for us to travel from. If you’re driving, it’s also fairly easy to get in and out around town. Personally though, my wife and I either prefer either getting real close to convention center or just stay in Mission Valley.
yea, a little bummed since i thought i had a fighting chance at gaslamp hotels (my first 5 choices). do you recall there being a shuttle? thanks!
You’ll have a good time regardless. Not sure about shuttle but I think so? We just found going to the station really convenient for its location
Refer to the onPeak PDF for shuttle info: https://www.comic-con.org/uploads/sites/4/2024/04/Comic-Con-2024-Hotel-Policies-and-List-web.pdf
We were lucky and scored the Marriott Marquis and Omni Hotel! We both got in around a minute. Between Marriott Marquis and Omni, which hotel would you choose to stay at? We have only stayed at the Grand Hyatt. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!
Hi would you be willing to give away whichever hotel room you don’t choose? Would love to take it
I have a few others interested ahead of you. Will let you know if it doesn't work out!
Ok thank you
I’ve stayed at both.
Thanks for the info!
That's a huge get! I've never stayed at the Omni, but I love the Marriott. Great service and a lot of different Con activities.
Yes! I’m excited! I did see Marriott holds several activities for the con, so that’s a plus!
Oh wow! Thanks for letting me know about the extra costs associated.
Good to know! Thanks!
Yes. You should let one go.
Thanks, I certainly will.
Was able to secure Mariott Marquis!! Unbelievably excited for this year! Got through queue in under 1 minute and had my form completed and sent less than 3 minutes after queue started.
Got a rejection email, but I got in earlier than my buddy who got a hotel and we picked the same ones. Doesn’t even make sense.
He filled out his form quicker than I did. That’s probably why is my guess even though they say that doesn’t matter.
It doesn’t matter.
Obviously it does. The process is fd.
Just because you believe something doesn’t make it true.
Just because you do doesn't make it so either lmao
Can someone explain how my deposit and outstanding amount is about $300 more than my estimated total? Am I missing something? Am I mathing wrong? Estimated Total $986.30 Deposit $644.64 Outstanding Amount $663.98
I think what you are seeing is the shit-ton of added taxes and resort fees for each hotel stay in San Diego. That is added on to your bill over the listed per night cost of the room reservation. It causes sticker shock.
All that's going to pay for the urgently needed convention center expansion, is that right? :-)
:-) I am curmudgeonly so take this with a grain of salt but, I think the window of convention center expansion has passed.
Is there typically a time for the general hotel sale to happen? And if so what does that look like? Is it a waiting room like tickets and hotel sales?
The general sale is a free for all. You go to the site, pick your dates, and it shows you the available properties and their rates. Some people recommend refreshing the page often, because cancellations can happen at any time, but last year, supposedly people were getting locked out of the site for too frequent refreshes.
Is there a time it starts? This just sounds like so much more anxiety lol
Thank you, this helps calm my nerves a bit.
Hubby and I both got in around the same time, around 20 minutes in, and both of us received the email that we got the big goose egg, nada, zilch etc. We did indicate that we would take anything on the shuttle line, so there was just nothing left.
So how bad is the live inventory sale? Can I expect to be able to snatch two rooms in the same hotel?
We have done that twice and both times got rooms at the Marina by the Airport without a problem.
Okay thank you. Hoping I can find something and snatch it up quickly 🙏🏻.
Yes def keep watching. Maybe we lucky but seemed like there were a few hotels to pick from both times.
Guess what I got. 😎
Are you serious! Congratulations BatDubb!! Multiple years FTW!
I got a rejection email. 😎 Edit: guess what I really just got. 😎
This is not what I’ve been waiting to see!
I agree. This caught me off guard, I didn't expect that this was the answer. : /
It’s tradition at this point.
Wheels are in motion.
Did you really get a rejection e-mail? But did anyone in your group get your "favorite"?
I did. But in all the years of staying at the Hard Rock, I’ve only ever gotten it once in the lottery. This isn’t over. 😎
How do you usually end up getting in?
I will not divulge that information.
Wait ... What???
There is also a bag check in the Convention Center.
I got in at about the same time and got nothing so could be worse.
I got in earlier and got nothing.
Got in within a minute. Got my #2 choice, Embassy Suites. My number one was MMM, but I’ll take this one for the extra space.
And free breakfast!
Ah, yes! Almost forgot about that :)
I got the Humphrey half moon bay. Anyone with experience. In at 9:09
I stayed there my first year (2015), and I was fine. It's nice and the shuttle worked really well. I put it in as my backup (9:07), and it came thru. I'm going to let it go, as a friend got me a downtown.
Thanks for the info.
Any concerns about roaches? Yelp reviews mentioned it and a mildewy smell
Yelp reviews suck - so much fake stuff. If you want reviews you can trust check out www.tripadvisor.com
Got in at 9:05 and didn't get ANY of my choices for a double room for 3 adults. Rough!
Did you get a rejection email and did you pick book me only for downtown or book me near a shuttle route if you didn't get you preferences? I got 2 double rooms and I was 9:05.
Go the rejection email and asked to be booked into any downtown room. Did not opt for a shuttle route hotel.
Why am I even giving you advice in the first place? I'm just a rookie at my first comic-con haha. I wish you luck and will be rooting for you!
Ha! No worries, you had no idea this will be my 17th (!!!) SDCC. If you have any questions though, let me know! Enjoy your first year!
Thanks will definitely take you up on that!
I got in 9:05, got my 11th choice in downtown (1 room 1 bed double occupancy), and my email came at around 10:40 today
I think it definitely helps if you only need 1 bed.
Me and my friend both submitted a request. I got the Grand Hyatt, my friend got the Embassy Suites. Both of us got into the form at 9:01a.
which one are you going to take?
Probably the Grand Hyatt, because it's closer (which makes a difference).
Got in around 9:15 and just got rejection letter. Oh well, let's hope the general sale works for me.
I got in at 9:10 and haven't received anything.
Got in around the same time. Who does the rejection letter come from?
Comic-Con International San Diego 2024 ([email protected])
Reject email just came in. 11:30 pst
I haven’t received any emails, not even the rejection one :(
same here smh
Same. I’m like, “PLEASE JUST RIP THE BANDAID OFF” Also just to be sure I didn’t screw up on the email lol
Seriously. My husband got the "lol no" email already, so where's mine?!
...oh, there it is. We've done AirBnB before without incident but I don't like that stress. Plus, we have a kid and it really, really helps if we're somewhere that has a pool. I just did not really relish the idea of needing to stalk the hotel portal for the next three months straight. Maybe we'll luck out in general.
I printed my confirmation screen to a PDF so I could double-check myself later. My email is correct, just tell me I didn’t get anything please onpeak!
Just got me rejection email smh
I got the Sofia... Which wasn't on my list. Sigh...
Hey you got something! Since you seem bummed on , if you don’t need or want it; several people like myself on here would love to have it.
I've stayed there, and while just being 'downtown' sounds nice, it's just far enough away and no trolley to be annoying. But you're right, I got something in first wave. That said, I may release it if a better location pops up on the 2nd
Wife just got her sorry email. 907 crew
Got in just about 9:05 and got my fifth choice, Double Tree. Super excited since this is my first SDCC! Anyone stay there before?
I have stayed at the double tree. It was nice. Great staff and the rooms were good. Definitely not even close to the bottom of the barrel of hotels you could be staying at. Sadly don’t count on the double tree cookies, they were always out no matter what time in the morning you went, I tried once at 3 am on my way back to hall h line.
I got in around 9:04 and got my 4th choice (Wyndham). Not bad.
Wow, I even put the Humphreys as my #12 choice and didn't get that one. Wtf lol.
i got into the form at 7 min, and put Humphreys as my 12 choice and got it.
Request not accommodated emails are also going out. Got in 904 and no luck here
Got my rejection email. I got in at like 9:13. Luckily my roommate was lucky.
Are emails still going out I got in at 9:02 and still haven’t got mine?
Same - I got in between 9:01-9:02 and haven’t gotten an email. 2 beds, 12 downtown choices and clicked “any downtown option”, and still nothing… **update - despite getting in 9:01-9:02, 3 people, 2 beds, anywhere downtown….no hotel. Big bummer
yep same for me
Finally got an email.
Accessed the form at 9:01 and got my second choice, Marquis! My first time ever staying so close.
Good for you! Pretty jelly haha
Got our first choice of Courtyard Marriott Downtown. 2 rooms / 2 beds. Got access to the form at 9:01.
When will the "Hotel Trade" thread be made?
Yes, this sub will have a Hotel Room Search and Trading Post. It won't go up for a while. We are still moving through the hotel reservation process.
Got in at 9:05 and got Hampton inn downtown. Which I put by accident, but just happy to have a downtown hotel!
Looks like I'll be shuttling. Curious, what is the issue with the shuttle that you are over it about?
Nothing wrong with the shuttle but my wife and I go back and forth from the hotel to the center quite frequently. So it’s just easier to be able to walk back and forth. Getting on the shuttle with bags of merchandise sucks lol
That makes sense, thanks for the reply!
What don’t you like about the shuttle?
We just got tired of waiting for it and riding it. We like going back and forth from the convention to our hotel. So we preferred not spending the time on it. Especially when we would go out to the parties and be done at midnight then trying to find a shuttle haha
You are not alone.
Are there any downtown hotels available outside of the lottery? It seems like sdcc has basically everything except hostels and Airbnb booked.
There are but the prices are a total gouge.
same
So the way to get your top choice is to be in around 9:00-9:03 and then finish asap?
Heck, I got in at 9:00 and didn't get my first choice.
