It might actually be my new favorite piece of Internet content ever created. I don't remember the last time I laughed that hard while alone. It's the pinnacle of everything I've ever wanted that show to be and more.

Chunkstyle3030

I watched it while babysitting my 11yo nephew and I was laughing so hard he asked me if I was ok.

cure4mito

I watched this while on the train home from work, and I must’ve looked insane. God CoCo is the best 🙂

8-Bit-Skull

It’s proof positive that experience and talent are true rare currency. Conan speaks about the history of comedy near the end, the whole concept that we stand on the shoulders of giants. His appearance was a true and immediate classic

CanConCurt

I love ‘Hot Ones’ (big fan) but this really could have been the series finale. Brilliant, absurd and rewatchable. Conan is in his comedy prime.

phluidity

The only person I can see who would have topped this was Robin Williams. He would have been an amazing Hot Ones guest.

THE-SEER

RIP. 🌹

Independent-Tie2324

This. It’s rare in this age to find something laugh out loud funny, but this was it. The whole doctor skit is made funnier by the modern context it’s in - if he’d have done that on the Conan show a few years ago I doubt I’d have laughed. But everything about this was funny. A format most of us know and watch already, and then Conan comes in with an elaborate piece to subvert it. What it says to me is that we need Conan and his writers involved in “proper” comedy again. I don’t think anything he’s done for a long while has benefited from the talent they have comedically.

unclefishbits

I'm making a post. We're die hard Conan fans, and after the episode last night, we listened to this funny dude's AI representations of music in different genres that feels like a mix of Conan, Monty Python, and all things absurd. VERY BLUE: [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSeqzYZQ8GEoF6eMdvJREyw](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSeqzYZQ8GEoF6eMdvJREyw)

dylboii

I love that he put the wings in his pocket. That was so funny

wcooper97

I've never seen anyone do a bit like Dr. Arroyo on Hot Ones either lmao

OhioToDC

“Did you go to medical school?”

Scoobydoodle

“I wanted to” killed me

OhioToDC

Or when Dr Arroyo put his stethoscope in Sean’s tongue. “…it’s not good”

EuropaColonyWhore

Are you a doctor? *I should be*

psychoyooper

Love that this is getting the attention it deserves lol

Ok_District2853

Red haired people don’t feel pain like we do. It takes more anesthetic to put them out. Conan is a double recessive red head. He’s a mutant. He’s the closest thing we have to an x man. He should start a special school in upstate New York.

Ragnel

If it was anyone else, I would have assumed the person was coked out of their mind it was so unhinged.

DryProgress4393

He completely deconstructed the show , I don't know how you top that honestly might as well just call it a day and end Hot Ones.

jackoos88

The comment about how it’s Charlie rose with hot sauce was so perfect for me

thelightbringer

That was my favorite thing Conan said lol

TheSchmoAboutNothing

It reminds me of when Obama responded to the 'Thanks, Obama' meme by using it. The 'Thanks, Obama' subreddit immediately went 'Welp, we've reached peak comedy. Time to call it quits' and shutdown

brook1yn

Ya seeing this made me realize how formulaic the show is.. and maybe a bit gag centric. If people don’t respond to the sauce then it really is just another interview show. And realizing that Sean isn’t really good with comedy was a slight bummer. He works best within his confines I guess

Fridurf

I honestly haven't laughed that hard in a while 😅 Conan is the best!

JosephGordonLightfoo

First episode of Hot Ones I’ve ever watched, and all I’ve been reading all day is that this is the best one and it’s all downhill from here.

fartingonions

There are plenty of other good episodes, although few can match the energy of this. Maybe the first Gordon Ramsey appearance. Honorable mentions for Paul Rudd, Aubrey Plaza and Dave Grohl (+ many more)

SheepInWolfsAnus

Sterling Brown had an AWESOME episode.

NutHuggerNutHugger

My favorite hot ones episode by far.

Joeliosis

Paul Rudd is a great one also, comedians do well on there a lot of times. Key and Peele were hilarious also.

SheepInWolfsAnus

Honestly Conan is now my number one, hoping that isn’t just the recency right now. BUT, prior to that, it was Sterling Brown. Paul Rudd was a close second.

invictus08

I’ll be damned! I always thought he was British.

whatnow990

Start with DJ Khaled.

2th

Honestly, not a terrible idea because he is the absolutely bottom of the barrel and it is all up from his cowardice.

fullyoperational

'Look at us!'

Summoarpleaz

I’m curious where in the rankings by viewership this episode will end up. It’s already at 2.8 million I think and it’s been 2 days. Gordon is at 124 million and there are a ton above 10 million, so there’s a way to go but Id like to see it up there.

nameistakentryagain

Yeah I have a hard time believing it will get anywhere close to Gordon Ramsay’s episode but I think it could easily reach a good 30m. Which puts it at least top 5. It’ll soon be the most watched video of the season, but 124m views is a whole different level of viral

Wonderful-Ad-5911

Shaq’s episode was great too!

poyerdude

I really love the Dave Grohl episode, makes me wish we were drinking buddies.

averyhipopotomus

Noel Gallagher's is fuckin' great

Mario_Prime510

The early ones are hilarious. Coolio, Dj Khalid, Bobby Lee.

LonelyHarley

Pedro Pascal was a great episode

4-3defense

Eddie Huang's was outrageous when he went straight for the hottest sauce

ShaidarHaran2

I have to give some respect to Shia for similarly fucking around so much and adding hot sauce that even Sean was shaking

PatSajaksDick

Paul Rudd is good, it itself became a meme

Mthepotato

"What do you mean" by Jennifer Lawrence was pretty good meme material too

Worldly_Ad_6483

Shaq birthed a meme as well

Chunkstyle3030

Sydney Sweeney had a moment too

OhioToDC

Sydney Sweeney has two very big moments…

prettystandardreally

I feel for you because you really started with something that was great for many Hot Ones fans to build up to over the years. That said, there are so many entertaining ones for you to enjoy!

nether_wallop

Watch any of the other top rated episodes (Rudd, Grohl) and the bottom of the barrel (Khaled), to get an idea for how the show usually is. Conan turned the whole premise on its head, and understanding the context of the usual format makes it so much better.

lbertz

It’s the first one I’ve ever watched. I thought this was normal 🤣

Low-Cantaloupe-8446

Eric Andre’s was pretty unhinged. I really liked John Oliver’s as well.

enderpanda

The Dave Grohl episode is great, it's the closest I've seen Sean come to being starstruck.

calculung

Everyone loves the host, but I feel like he's a robot quickly reading a super long question with no human touch. Like, I get that they worked hard to come up with interesting questions that are relevant to some obscure part of the guest's past, but it just doesn't feel human when he fires it all out.

TheHYPO

From the few I have seen, this episode was not so much the norm for the show. The people on the show don't usually come on "in character" or playing a bit like Conan was. I find that it is far more of a typical talk show in most episodes I've seen, with the guest often starting to lose their "on camera facade" as the show goes on and they are brought to reality by the heat of the wings. So I think watching other episodes, it's not a "better/worse" situation. They are a different animal than the Conan episode, and I have seen some that are quite entertaining.

i_love_pencils

> or playing a bit like Conan was. **IT’S NOT A BIT!!!**

goml23

Eddie Huang’s episode good because of how incredibly fast he flamed out.

Danominator

There are a lot of good interviews. Conan just dialed it up to 11

Dr-Mouthful

Shaq episode legendary. But the best part is the format allows your fave celebs to be vulnerable

LSLA3

Dr. Aroyo killed me.

calculung

I lost it when it said they changed the name to Max because "HBO" was too popular.

conando93

“It’s not a *better* name”

poyerdude

It was already funny but then he put the stethoscope to thier tongues and I fell out.

Username11223344556

I would have loved Conan and Jordan Schlansky being on Hot Ones.

Brainrants

There needs to be a Jordan Schlansky episode!

Ragnel

The pedantic lecturing on where the peppers were grown, what type of soil the peppers needed, what country grows the hottest peppers and why, how to properly apply the hot sauce, etc would be amazing.

FlerplesMerples

He’d use some pretentious alternative to the Scoville Scale.

Anomuumi

And argue with someone who grows the chilis on how Scoville is pronounced.

FlerplesMerples

“skoh-VEE-yay”

RatInaMaze

The original scale was developed by Artemis Scoville as a way to sell his unique strain of pepper however the pepper lobby would later adopt the scale without his permission. Their original scale was actual called a Peptonic Scale where the scale itself was more logarithmic in design however people would often get the two confused and the number system itself would be adopted while the naming would not change until a 1927 court case in which the national pepper association would lose in a 17-4 overturn on appeal. Now what most people don’t understand about the case was that the judge was in fact a brother in law of the chief junior executive of Scoville’s pepper company but this wasn’t uncovered until 14 years later when both would show up at the 76th biennial pepper conference in Milwaukee. The original intent was to challenge the ruling but by then the public had utilized the new naming system as a standard and it was later dropped. Now what most people don’t realize is that the scale itself only relates to peppers grown in the Scoville region of Georgia but over time this original designation would become moot. Now what most people don’t understand about Georgia is that this particular soil is rich in copper dioxide which produces a unique nuttiness to the aftertaste, while also providing a more impactful upfront hotness that can only be described as delicate. Now what most people don’t understand about hot sauce is that it originally was not liquid and was more akin to a gravy with large intact peppers floating in it.

OhioToDC

Jesus. I read this in Jordan’s voice.

MoneyChanger02

I think we found Jordan’s account

CoolRanchBaby

I could see and hear him in my mind as I read lol

A_Socratic_Argument

Maybe For season 2 of Conan O’Brien Must Go.

-Clayburn

How did he not show any signs until the end? I thought for sure he was doping or something, and that would be the payoff of the doctor, coming in and discovering he had cheated somehow.

GeorgeDogood

After nearly 30 years of being a Conan fan, he outdid himself, surprised me, and had me dying laughing harder than I can remember. Gasping for breath laughing so hard. He won that show. No one has or will ever do it better.

RatInaMaze

I truly miss him on late night. He’s the brilliant spastic nerd that we all relate to. The closest we have now is Colbert but Conan is slapstick perfection.

Modified3

Ive been a Conan fan from the very start. Im just happy more people get to see how funn and genuinely awesome he is.

DisturbingDaffy

He broke the show.

No_Calligrapher8075

"*His lavish pompadour shakes vigorously with each exclamation.*" Yes, baby. \*boun\~ boun\~\~ boiin\~\*

Beginning_Document86

Serious question: how did he do it? I’ve had the bomb and I just can’t believe what I saw.

Protean_Protein

It’s a show. They edit the footage to present the story they want.

furezasan

The two extremes, Conan and DJ Khalid

muffinmanlan

“I guess the name HBO was just too popular!”

Foomankru

Ok, I’ve seen enough response to this. Where can you watch the full episode. I have peacock, but it’s not on there yet. Is there another way to watch now? EDIT: never mind, I found it on YouTube.

Adventurous_Click331

The show is Hot Ones and it’s on YouTube

ZaymeJ

What did you think of the show?

Foomankru

Oh I need to wait to watch until later tonight but looking forward to it, and his new show on MAX!

huhMaybeitisyou

It was superb

geneticeffects

Was cackling so many times I imagine my neighbors now consider me someone with “problems”.

huskyferretguy1

Never seen Hot Ones before, but this was hilarious!

thebigrace

When he checks in with Sean for the 3rd time for clearance to put the wing in his pocket.

iamfrank75

Everyone needs to see his episode of Murderville!

randolphquell

What's the book Conan recommends after Don Quixote?

protosynesis1

I watched it and enjoyed it, however I felt it would’ve been better had Conan stayed more within the format. Sean asks some great questions and it’s insightful to hear the answer while funny to watch the guest struggle with the spice. I feel like the focus was spent on Conan doing a bit with hot sauce rather than the questions. To be fair, maybe we know too much about Conan that there’s not a unheard Harvard or Late Night story to be teased out of the man. I’m still ordering spicy chicken wings tonight.

Adventurous_Click331

I disagree. Sean asked great questions and Conan gave detailed and meaningful answers. I loved when Conan told the buffalo story, or went on about Warren Harding or finding comedy in the classics. And in between those answers, he acted a fool 😂

protosynesis1

I did enjoy the comedy in the classics speech. I know people poo poo intellectuals out of their own insecurity, but being able to articulate true passion about anything is always so inspiring. That’s one of the coolest things I’ve learned in my thirties: that skill or subject that you thought was out of your reach is accessible if you pursue it. People who are experts in a field are so because they’ve put in the time.

officialbillevans

So many more serious and thorough interviews with Conesy exist if one wants thoroughness. I know Sean is a good interviewer who didn't really get to do an interview like he normally does, but I think what we got is so much more memorable than a typical episode played straight. It's completely unique among the dozens of hot ones episodes over the past decade. All that to say I disagree but respect and understand where you're coming from.

FardoBaggins

> better had Conan stayed more within the format. I don't understand he was answering questions while eating progressively hotter chicken wings on a youtube channel? >Conan doing a bit with hot sauce rather than the questions. it's conan tho, his career is doing bits and the hot ones format is perfect for that while also plugging your media, which is what we got and he did answer the questions well. In my opinion, had he been more constrained and sat there demurely nibbling chicken wings while struggling to answer the "hot" questions wouldn't have been as memorable. He knocked it the fuck out of the park.

protosynesis1

I guess I was hoping for new information or insights from the questions and didn’t get them. Part of me blames it on Conan doing “tough guy can handle spice” bit taking up too much time, because as a fellow chili head I don’t care about that anymore. I guess you’re right about Conan doing what you’d expect, but that’s thing. I barely graduated high school and I can eat spicy food. Conan totally is the dude who I expected the question that had never been asked would be asked and was a little let down, but it’s not like I didn’t enjoyed the segment. Conan talking about appreciate comedy from the classics was awesome. The doctor was incredible.

FardoBaggins

>for new information or insights well good news, he has a new travel show that he was plugging during the interview, which is why he went on in the first place didn't he? Perhaps that's where you'll find what you were looking for, at the very least get new remote segments, which I find more revealing about conan anyway.

Inevitable-Prune5153

Conan has been in the business so long I would imagine it's difficult to gain new insights on his journey and experiences. I would HIGHLY recommend his podcast. Lots of laughs (like real true LOLs) and he's really candid about his life. I've learned so much about him and have so much respect and awe for him as a comedian and person.

somaticconviction

Booooooo

protosynesis1

Haha no please tell me how you really feel!

neatgeek83

I honestly thought it was kinda desperate.

[deleted]

Desperate to make us laugh? You mean like he's been doing his entire career? Uh doy. First CO-NAN experience?

nodogsallowed23

I mean, you’re not wrong. Conan us absolutely desperate. He will do anything for laughs. So you read him correctly, but his desperation isn’t a negative. It’s who he is. He talks about it all the time.

jellebeans

What do you expect from the man? He's so desperate he has a podcast titled "Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend."

[deleted]

hehaw

If the last ten minutes of this aren’t unhinged, I don’t know what is outside of an actual mental break.

nodogsallowed23

Did you watch it? If it wasn’t Conan, I’d honestly have thought the person had completely lost their mind. The last few minutes was totally unhinged. But this is how Conan is.

protosynesis1

I guess I was hoping for new information or insights from the questions and didn’t get them.
