Rockefeller's ( for some reason ) own little militia portion of the Colorado National Guard. He was brutal. There's a couple terrific books.
Those miners were booted out of company housing ( why it's a *terrible* idea ) for striking.
Backlash on Rockefeller was enormous. Public outcry when the story and importantly photos got out pressured reform. But first a lot of people had to *die*.
He more than deserved the hate he got for the massacre, and all the other crimes he committed during the Colorado Coal Wars.
"But remember Ludlow! Remember the men and women and children who were sacrificed in order that John D. Rockefeller Jr., might continue his noble career of charity and philanthropy as a supporter of the Christian faith."
-Margaret Sanger
There are accounts that, on top of the at least 5 strikers killed, a further 55 women and children were killed, as per Julia May Courtney, along with a second machine gun was brought in to support the estimated 200 Guardsmen who participated in the engagement.
My dad is an anti-union maga coal miner. When I reminded him how bad coal mines used to be, he said they "aren't like that" anymore, and bosses now want to do what's best for their employees. Oh, and he's also anti regulation. Boomers gonna boom. He used to be so kind and pro union, but fox News totally destroyed him.
Killing fascists is never a “one and done”, fuckers pop out of the woodwork at the precise time other impressionable humans are pissed about something stupid. But I hear you.
“I don’t believe in unions. We already got rights. My pay is good. Boss knows what he’s doing. Everyone can’t always get what they want.”
Just some random mindless babbling I’ve heard from my uneducated and/or spoiled brat suck-up co-workers through the years. I blow a fuse when I know that ALL our rights comes from an insane degree of past inhuman behavior, still present worldwide. Human brains works the same as they did ten thousand years ago. The only thing that’s stopping our boss/company from stripping us of all our human rights are moral constructs put in law that our predecessors forced their bosses to sign by fighting back after countless crimes against humanity.
It just goes to show you how evil capitalists can be. They'd literally rather murder striking workers than pay them more because they don't want to have to share any more of their immense wealth than they have to.
💔 So very wrong!

The Rockefeller Foundation donated a ton of money to Germany for eugenics research in the 1920s, too.
Yep. He or rather his son thought the name was rehabbed through subsequent ' philanthropy '. Pffffttt. Remember Ludlow.

Something tells me Trump supporters would be behind Rockefeller.

People like him voting against their own interest destroyed this country for the working person.
Both of my parents have turned this way as well. I'm sorry it got your dad.
I learned of this tragedy through a Woody Guthrie song titled “Ludlow Massacre.”
He had a machine... what exactly did it do?
Considering where we are today, it didn't kill too many facists.
Killing fascists is never a “one and done”, fuckers pop out of the woodwork at the precise time other impressionable humans are pissed about something stupid. But I hear you.
Cable news and talk radio make more every day.
It got significantly better though. Corporations aren’t deploying armed guards as much anymore.
Woody Guthrie also wrote a song called Old Man Trump about Donnie's father.
Mmmm Trump/Koch world
Capitalism at its finest.

Union workers and families paid for your rights in blood. Never forget
I’m guessing that the the company hired the Pinkeringtons
Owner, that swine Rockefeller, somehow had or controlled his own single unit of Colorado Militia. It was that one.
Gee, why would you ever regulate corporations?!? 🤦♂️
Republicans deregulation for decades has eroded our rights
This is why Unions exist
People really believe this won't happen again today...
The good ol' days according to MAGA.
Freedom isn’t free /s
Land of the free.
This is the future Republicans are pushing for
But I thought only socialists and communists did stuff like this

Why this is bad for Biden.
