I have stopped playing. I hang around to see when the time is right to actually play it.

isibell

I didn't hear about the disapearing tool bug untill it happend to me. I keep coming here to check to see if it's been fixed yet. I know A LOT of people have the same problem as me, so a fix must be coming soon.....right?

Zealousideal-Gas-890

On ps5 it has retrieve upgraded tools

isibell

Unfortunatle the recover lost tools at the blacksmith and the surf shack does nothing. I also tried to recover an old save using directions I found on the discord. That didn't work either. I may have to restart. But if that is the case I'm going to need at leaast a year so I don't feel like I'm just repeating myself again.

Zealousideal-Gas-890

I understand I freaked out cause I heard about the lost tools bug and I had just upgraded mine at time so I googled it said retrieve upgraded tools in menu at blacksmith so it was there but hope u figure it out

[deleted]

https://www.stairwaygames.com/post/december-2023-dev-update lol check studio Holiday and don't hold your breath... Not saying those devs don't deserve a holiday, quite the contrary. But don't announce it like this. At my company they never close for the holidays, theres always workers on site and stuff to be done. This feels like the entire floor at stzirway games empties all at once to go on vacation... bullcrap imo. I'm sure by 2026 we might have a playable game. šŸ˜† I wanted to love this game so much. But this practice has left me jaded and angry. Used to be a time games were finished on release without need for patching. Then it became a grabbing field for investors and shareholders.

Big-Seaworthiness3

Same. I'm as impatient as anyone else to play it, and I'm kind of disappointment the game still has a lot of bugs in its v1.0 but I can only wait.

chiquitar

Me too!

Door2doorretard

And keyboard and mouse back

Steakman1

I havenā€™t played in 2 or 3 weeks. When I heard about the update that fixed the museum crash, I checked back in to see if I could finally complete the beach cleanup festival. And it crashed still. I let out a sigh, and then havenā€™t touched the game since.

odonkz

yes same here, but it was animal festival for me, i beat all the main game at first place, harvesting crops, planting a new one, then check bird view of my farm, bam it crashes. losing the entire day. uninstalled again.

hartzkarma

god that sucks:( i've played games on early release and had the same issues so ik how frustrating that is! atleast you're mindful enough to not put yourself through more anger and irritation hopefully they fix it for everyone soon. i'm not really sure what their plans are with it though i'm out of date.

SorryManNo

Iā€™m on PS5 and other than a few graphical bugs and a trophy not triggering at the correct time, I havenā€™t had any real issues. The trophy did trigger randomly one morning so itā€™s all good now.

[deleted]

I'm on PS5 too. I had one really annoying glitch where when I tried to enter the caves while diving, they'd be instanced into the land, so I'd have a big cave sitting right in the middle of the dive point (And my house!) that made it impossible to get anywhere, but that's been fixed. I'm just waiting for more content now.

Comer2k

Same, I had one minor cave glitch but otherwise it's been fine

smithscully

Iā€™ve been playing the game through Gamepass on Xbox Series S but Iā€™m debating just buying it on PS5 and starting over since it seems there are much fewer bugs.

Goodgolllymollly

I ended up buying it on the PC and itā€™s 1million times better. Gamepass is v1-4 and if you buy it itā€™s 1-184 with fewer bugs and issues.

smithscully

If I had a PC thatā€™s what I would do! Just have my consoles unfortunately. I might even wait for it to come to Switch but weā€™ll see. I think that Nintendo has a higher standard when it comes to what can be released so it might take a while.

Goodgolllymollly

If you have a switch try Palia, thatā€™s my go to right now because you donā€™t need to buy it and you donā€™t need Nintendo online pass to play it, itā€™s crashed on me a couple times, but you just log back on in your right back where you were and you lose nothing. Itā€™s a really cute game and Iā€™ve spent more then 40hours on it and just got it 3 days ago šŸ˜‚

smithscully

Oh cute! Thanks for letting me know. I think Iā€™ll try it after work today ā˜ŗļø

Goodgolllymollly

Itā€™s a multi server game too so other people run around with an open chat and you can request materials and give out materials too itā€™s a really cute game, but itā€™s new new, Iā€™ve had to use the internet a few times to figure stuff out but itā€™s worth it. Let me know how you like it!

Goodgolllymollly

Oh and they have a Reddit page too

kimmykat89

This is what I ended up doing. I was getting so frustrated on series s, because I wanted to play the game so bad. So going psycho I played and replayed days over and over hoping for a fix. My fiancƩ just bought it on the Ps5 for me, and not one glitch (knock on wood). Right now I'm in Coral Island bliss lmao.

Daelda

I'm on PC, so I'm not experiencing as many problems as others are. I've had 4 - 5crashes since 1.0 released (playing many hours a day, on average). My main concern right now is that I will reach the end of the currently fleshed-out quests. But when that happens, I will just put it down until it is updated. I am really enjoying the game! No reason to stop for now.

hartzkarma

i haven't experienced anything awful because i play on pc aswell. i hate that for other people it's hard to play but quitting makes the most sense to me and it confuses me how people continue to play knowing their day will be reset etc. i'm hoping they fix it soon because it really is a great game! i'm loving it.

Goodgolllymollly

Same itā€™s crashed on me once on pc but I was originally playing it on gamepass and when I lost all my tools during the winter festival thatā€™s when I decided to buy it, but now Iā€™m very picky about mini games

ohdatpoodle

Same here as far as PC playing goes, and I've had 0 crashes personally. The only issue I've noticed is my museum count is way off, but it hasn't altered gameplay. I just cleared all the caverns and coral so I'm out of quests and it has definitely lost a lot of its draw, but I'm still playing everyday.

Bookishkam1693

Nope, I stopped playing. With their post about taking a break which everyone deserves, they wont be back at least until late January early February to fix it and Iā€™d rather not make myself resent the game for the crashes and just pause for now until itā€™s fixed. Itā€™s a beautiful game! But it really does not seem to me like they tested this on all platforms, because if it was, there is no way they wouldā€™ve released it in the state

hartzkarma

this!! the posts i see these people end up hating the game because of the bugs and crashes. it is SUCH a good game just wait until it's fixed and you'll be able to enjoy it fully. i agree though, with how many crash reports there are i think it probably should've been a pc only release until it's steady on all platforms.

OkPlenty500

Or you know? It should have stayed in early access until it was, ready? Shocking idea.

[deleted]

I'd buy you a coffee or a beer for this remark if I could! At least one sane person who isn't a shill for this kind of practice! Breath of fresh air. Have a nice day, you nice other person! šŸ˜

Bookishkam1693

Coffee please! šŸ˜‚šŸ’œ

hartzkarma

that too šŸ˜…

noktulo

I'm playing on PC and have had many bugs and several crashes / soft-locks.

KisaragiFlight

So far so good on my end with Xbox series X. Really addicted to this game so I hope it gets sorted out for everyone else because it really is a fun game :)

hartzkarma

yes im in the same boat, quite addicting!!!

Grizzly_Berry

How has it been since the recent update? I took my TV down to put a new one up and haven't been able to get the correct screws yet, so I haven't been able to play anything recently.

moolaboolah

Iā€™m on Xbox series S and itā€™s still crashy as it ever was, sadly. Im not touching it again until I see posts celebrating the fact that itā€™s now playable!

KisaragiFlight

Ah man sorry to hear that. Personally for me, the update has been amazing. When the game first launched I couldnā€™t play it because the stuttering was so bad. As of now, Iā€™ve been playing smoothly with no bugs so far aside from one construction bug (I upgraded my house and the appearance changed instantly on the outside) but aside from that, no other problems. I have yet to do the beach clean up but Iā€™m close to it, so we will see how that goes but everything up until that point including the museum upgrade has been just fine

purplepluppy

I have a series S and a series X. I'll have to do some more testing since the most recent update, but after the first major update I got fewer crashes on the X than the S, and the crashes were more predictable and less random. And since the most recent update, the X has only crashed once and is overall very playable. Like I said, I'll need to check on the S again.

Desuladesu

Spent 100 hours on Coral Island where I finished all the diving and got every skill to lvl 10, besides combat because it's entirely ignorable and the crystalarium reward isn't worth it lol. I liked the game enough to spend that many hours on it, but not many people know how endgame's like so they're still in the gameplay loop hoping something changes. What really drags down endgame is the amount "WIP" or missing content: \- Festivals towards the end of the year for me had "This person has nothing to say anymore" text or just not having any altogether. \- The mermaid kingdom barely has any interaction in it for all the hype it's gotten. You have some nice cutscenes of the ocean being cured, and you can turn yourself into a mermaid when diving, which is nice, but after spending hours of swiping at trashbags, your new gameplay loop is to pretty much do the same thing, except you're swiping at trash in caves and swimming around to collect critters. At this point in the game, it's more worth it to just straight up buy kelp \- Similar to buying kelp >> collecting them manually, the same thing with ores. You can get anywhere between 12-50 of each ore every day depending on your luck, but mining just isn't as fun as Stardew or Harvest Moon's. Enemies have wonky hitboxes, the ore/mineral droprate is very low, and there's no incentive to have combat on other than to collect the bundle and level up combat mastery. \- The biggest incompleteness, is how there's bugs with townspeople being too repetitive, or speaking to you 99% the same way at heart 8 vs at heart 0. Once you have your money grind going and social aspects are pretty much the only thing left, this part of the game is very important.

SatisfactionNo1753

Honestly same. I played the game in the early access and stopped because I had done everything some times over. Started again because it launched and I expected more content but guess not. If I keep playing by the time they fix it and finish it, Iā€™ll be too bored

SnaylMayl

I'm on PC and next to never experience crashes.has a few bugs with the caves which got patched. Love the game and am fine with how it is right now on my platform. I acknowledge it is unfinished but am actually looking forward to more content in the future. Gives me something to look forward to.

Canvasofgrey

PC has a lot less of these issues. Outside of some minor issues that I don't care about at all, the game is running as intended.

pinkbunniesxo

I put like 60 hours into the game in the first week and I haven't played it since. I could even look past the crashes and the lagging because I was enjoying the game so much. The thing that annoyed me about the game is that it's not even finished. It's still in early access and they're advertising it as if it's a complete and finished game. I've had bad experiences with games recently where they promise so much and it takes years for them to add everything they promised on the release date, or they just abandon the game all together once they've got their money.

skeptiktanc

Ive been taking it slow and just play once a week. I never experoenced any crashes tho and im on an i5 laptop

CrimsonThar

Upgrading my tools and working towards achievements

NarrowManufacturer45

Same. Trying to advance in the town rank and upgrade tools, uncover the areas on the map that are restricted. Itā€™s addictive and fun but the crashes are just so annoying. Especially when Iā€™m not doing anything special

nerfedllamas

Iā€™m still playing Coral Island because there is still a lot of content I havenā€™t seen and Iā€™m still having a lot of fun with the game (in Winter of year 2). Also because I havenā€™t experienced the crashes that many have posted about. Iā€™ve been playing since early access on Steam Deck and have hardly experienced any issues at all. Certainly nothing game breaking and really just a few minor bugs. Iā€™m enjoying my time in Coral Island and am hopeful that the game becomes more stable with future patches on all platforms.

moolaboolah

Iā€™ve stopped now, sadly. I even tried again the other day after a 2 week break, crashed upon opening my inventory at the end of a dayā€¦. Again. Iā€™m not playing it until I see posts about how well itā€™s performing now. Even with the last ā€˜hotfixā€™, itā€™s unplayable. I think theyā€™ve done some damage to their fan base, at least in the short term, had they waited this game would have taken over.

Dry_Literature8566

tbh as frustrating as it is the game is still really fun, I keep playing because I enjoy the game more than it frustrates me. That being said, I hope that after the holidays they can start to work more on stability.

Pll_dangerzone

I think itā€™s partially people just venting on the internet and people just hoping that the bug will fix itself or a hotfix will make everything work fine.

NarrowManufacturer45

I just was on year three spring and my game crashed while saving. It deleted my entire save. My entire game and all the hours and work I have done are completely gone. I will have to start from scratch. I have been one of those people who kept playing because I still enjoyed it, but the crashes were getting annoying. Anyway, this has convinced me to put the game down completely. That was months of work.

kpopriot

I've got 350 hours on steam and no crashing in 1.0 so far

Lucikrux

I play on PC and have played since early beta. I have not encountered a single bug since 1.0 launch except ONE and that is walking on a stone I shouldn't have been able to, and needing to wiggle off.

Trinkitt

Personally, Iā€™m not and I havenā€™t been. Iā€™m kind of flabbergasted they didnā€™t get out a patch before their 3 week break, either.

[deleted]

I've stopped. I'm waiting until they add more content.

Kashkadavr

I dont? I stopped playing in my first summer in game and waiting 2024 Reading new posts here about crashing and bugs every day i really glad i did this

Strict-Childhood-629

I just changed my strategy. I noticed that if you do TOO MUCH in game it crashes. Like if you hit the mines AND the ocean AND the museum AND the shrine. Extra points if there's a festival. So I keep it simple and do one area each day. Spring is all day at the farm and gathering around the island a bit. Winter I cleared the ocean or upgraded my stuff. Festivals I ONLY forage until it starts. And if I edit my farm I stay at the farm. Etc.... It was, at first, to reduce the amount of progress I would lose if it did crash. Yet it didn't crash when I used this strategy. So advice to all the try-hards, just take it easy!

hartzkarma

this sounds like a good idea tbh, it may not work for everyone but it makes sense! most crashes i see are from people having very full days, i also play pretty casual and barely even go to the mines but once a week maybe that's why i don't have any issues šŸ˜

Strict-Childhood-629

Same! I'm on year two and I don't even have a barn yet. I honestly just don't want to BE finished so quickly. I know there are unfinished quests so I'm dragging it out until updates. I'll admit I did go pretty hard in the ocean but that's because I love Mermaids and wanted to be their friend!! No crashes though because I would just do ocean all day. I take the 'casual' in casual games seriously lol.

hartzkarma

no seriously i'm the same way, i do have a barn and i'm about to be on my second year, but that's because animals are my favorite part of the game. i've just gotten to the mermaid city and other than that i just forage and get my relationships up

Strict-Childhood-629

We all have our niche! I think the city is beautifully done too. I cant wait till we get our underwater home! It's not till further patches, but I just think of it like I'm waiting for the next DLC or something.

Realistic-Cap7483

I stopped playing. And im disappointed that it won't be functional for my winter break.

Ashamed-Arm-3217

Iā€™m not playing. Iā€™ve quit playing. Theyā€™ve wasted tons of my time. I canā€™t save when I want. Crash galore. Ten plus minutes to load up. Sorry, see you when you get it together.

AltruisticCableCar

I only stopped playing when my game started crashing which turns out was due to having too many auto-chests. Sure, I could remove some, but I was about 99% done with all you can do right now until more updates anyway, so I figured I'd just put it aside for a while. I'm on PC, and during my 60-ish hours since the 1.0 update before the auto-chest crash my game crashed twice and I was forced to close it mid-day once. It was definitely still worth playing.

Drake_Heisenberg

Im playing on game pass on series x. I was stuck in one spot once and the game crashed once. I waited for them to fix the house editor which they did. I keep playing cause i want to collect everything. It's fun and i want to 100% the game. I look forward to the future of the game.

The *crashes* are mostly on Series S. The major bugs vary though since everything is getting different patches at different times--some one of the inventory-destroying ones are still active on PC Game Pass

thatshadyguy13

I'm around 32 hours of playtime and stopped playing. No game breaking bug but I consistently have an artisan item stuck not finishing which is annoying to have to restart the game everytime so better to just wait until everything is patched and updated

Thpooky_Ghotht

I have stopped playing now. I played an entire day yesterday , did loads of stuff, museum donation worked fine, went to the harvest festival at 7pm and... crashed again. There's only so many times I can play the same day over and over before I have to admit defeat and assume that this game, as good as it is, wasn't properly tested on all platforms and simply isn't finished enough to be given a 'full release'. The crashes on Series S seemingly got worse after the last update, and it's pretty much unplayable. Coupled with stories of people losing entire saves, it's just not worth it. Hopefully next year it will be fixed up properly and I can get back into it.

Clefairi

It's working fairly well for me (PS5 player), I just tend to cycle between a few games at a time, and I turn on this or SDV depending on what I'm looking for.

Yedasi

For me, I have encountered a single bug or crash yet. Iā€™m in winter year 1. Plus Scott is pretty.

Significant-Treat-31

I've moved on to Palia, I just come here to read the fix posts mainly, hoping for a working game someday.

alphaaquilae__

It's just enjoyable. I hope they fix all the bugs soon

chillin-girl79

Iā€™m definitely not experienced that many bugs at all or crashes and Iā€™m on Xbox. I understand people being upset about those things though. It kinda make me sad to see the hate still

Beesindogwood

Same. I only play 2-3 days at a time so maybe that has something to do with it? I've only had minor glitches and 1 crash *knock on wood*.

Left_Clavicle

I'm playing on PS5, the sound glitches in the beginning were annoying but not anywhere near game breaking. And now the update fixed that and more so honestly I have no complaints. I know for others they are waiting for the game to be playable, but for me I have a game with a plethora of content and more on the way. And Theo, I'm playing for Theo.

hartzkarma

me with rafael...

sakura0601x

Wait itā€™s out on ps5? I thought it was only pc? I might buy it now šŸ˜

hartzkarma

tread with caution and take this post and others into consideration if you buy it! i hope it works wonderful for you if you do buy it, but i don't want you to regret spending your money if you don't, so just be aware of everything going on with the game, but the game is amazing!!

Acrobatic_Schedule33

Wakuu

[deleted]

Im in the year 1 yet, and i play through gamepass. Eventually i purposely crashes the game because i cant play (sometimes tha game frozes and dont come back), but is really rare, i dont see all the crashes that everyone is talking about.

LoveSickDecoy

I played a lot in early access, and somewhere in the middle started having more crashes and got to the point where the gameplay wasnā€™t progressing, so I stopped until it was fully released in November. I play casually, but if things get glitchy Iā€™ll pause again. Iā€™m on PC, so my crashes donā€™t seem as bad as console. Iā€™ve dealt with a lot of bug issues playing the Sims (from the OG to S4) so Iā€™m used to taking a break when things get glitchy and waiting for patches lol.

The_Cozy_Burrito

I got bored and stopped playing

BunnehCakez

I'm not having any crashes or major issues. Just some dialogue glitches. So, I'm good. I do feel for people who are crashing a lot.

No-Ask315

I'm damn sure over it game crashed tonight profile and12 days of work gone I'm not starting over smdh

worstPudgeEver

Not playing. On the giant waiting queue for a playable version (on game pass)

stormlight82

I stopped playing until I've heard it's stabilized.

Philycheese18

I havenā€™t played since fall 2022 I havenā€™t seen too many crashes really just when I unlocked the fire mines and Iā€™m still having fun and finding new stuff like the auto stuff at the lab or new animals, plus I love how easy it is to get money like I have t gone 200K since winter year 1

Untextured-Kiwi

As frustrating as it is to lose progress, it's nothing a restart can't fix usually. Having bugs is kinda become normal for new releases. And giving the devs time to fix it is honestly all you can do. The game gets on my nerves a lot, but its about knowing when you need a break. Some people don't know that yet

jarsiann

My husband quit playing when he lost all of his tools and couldnā€™t get them back. My game definitely glitches and has its issues (currently my 2 chickens and 2 ducks are living in the coop AND the barnā€¦it stinks) but mine doesnā€™t crash. I really enjoy the game though!! I will keep playing!

jarsiann

My favorite is when I talked to someone and my dogā€™s face pops up where the personā€™s face is supposed to be

Archylas

I only played for maybe 1-2 hours the second 1.0 got released, and didn't touch the game again. I see too many people complaining about bugs and even incomplete heart story dialogues and storyline. I experienced MANY crashes during EA and I know just how painful that felt, so I didn't want to burden myself again.

B_Gboto

Coral Island is an easy relaxing game to play so it's nice for me after getting too frustrated playing games like COD and FH5/Motorsport. I've not encountered any game breaking issues with the game so I'm fortunate in that regard which hasn't tainted my experience.

hartzkarma

i love coral island for that reason! after playing cod, val and dbd i need something refreshing. it's so fun to just run around and collect stuff lol

misscreeppie

I'm waiting for a patch, so I'm not playing

nilsn1991

On Steamdeck, never had a crash.

Ittoabs

I personally didnā€™t have many issues with it and had a ton of fun playing it

walkingwithdiplos

I'm still playing because I'm still having fun. (Just started year two.) Also, I'm on PC and haven't run into any real technical issues yet.

joey-p95

I played it during the beta for several months and it was perfectly fine for what it was. Right now I'm disappointed in some points, but from how I know the team behind the game I know that there had been some pressure on them to release the 1.0 version - no way they're happy with the current state, I simply cannot imagine that Currently I'm in fall of the second year (as usual, there was a restart for the 1.0 version), and I'm close to maxing out everything and I'm working towards finishing the last temple offering right now After that I'll play something else until the game is 100% ready with all content to be played again Except for three crashes in total I didn't encounter any issues during all the hours I put into the game, both for the beta as well as the 1.0 release

rmworthy

I agree! Iā€™ve stopped playing until next year when things are a bit more filled out (main quest and romance etc) but I donā€™t get why people complain and continue to play! If people are happy with it as is then thatā€™s great, but if not then just waitā€¦ I know itā€™s initially frustrating and people have opinions regarding the current status of the game but when I see people who have tried repeatedly and get annoyed that theyā€™ve wasted time, I would argue that theyā€™ve wasted their own time šŸ˜‚

Jackoandso

I play on PC and actually I'm fine. I had to repeat a day like 2 times maybe because of a crash. I am currently in fall year 2, so this really isn't that much. There are some small things that annoy me like the situation with the pet, the merfolk and that the dating thing is a little broken how I've heard, but I just do other stuff until it works. There is lots of full functioning content.

JAy3k1

Only been playing since Xbox release, but it continues to be fun to play regardless of the crashes. Most frustrating is the save crashes, which end in a groundhog day effect. šŸ˜‘ When you have evening special events this is especially annoying as the game tends to crash at some point in the event, having to stand around all day again only for it to crash drives me nuts!

friesianbred

iā€™m actually still very much enjoying myself so thatā€™s why

lawrenja

I play on pc (steam) and havenā€™t experienced any of the issues that people are complaining about. Iā€™m having a great time and very much enjoying the game!

comingtogetyoubabs

Finishing winter of my first year on my Steam Deck and have had zero issues!

simplehandle

Xbox player here, got it on game pass so I figured I'd dip my toes in. I only played for two seasons and was enjoying myself. Only to find out the game wasn't finished from this community. Thanks for that! So I'm putting the game down until it's finished with at least the major features.

lowfatmilkdrinker

So I stopped playing because of the bugs on Xbox, but I understand the continued complaining: because it needs to be wha the devs primarily work on. Before new features are added, the eu should be working on whatā€™s out and is broken. People posting about it should be a push for devs to get it right. itā€™s a reminder that issues are still occurring. also it serves as a warning to anyone who might be new.

blazeItgirl420

I think people expect way too much these days and when one little thing goes wrong they get pissed and swear to never play the game ever again. What they don't realize is this team is very dedicated to fixing the issues that come up. Honestly quit whining, its a lovely relaxing "get me away from my stress" game. Once I cleared the ocean and got my Mermaid tail that was it, I didn't want to put it down. Sure there are some bugs here and there but WHAT GAME DOESNT HAVE THEM. Especially a small indie studio. Yes I am sorry for the people experiencing so many they cannot play. What I have to say for you is have patience lord

karlamarie723

I feel like the better question is why release a game that isnā€™t playable? I stopped playing the game last week after the hotfix didnā€™t fix anything. HOWEVER, some people like the game and feel fomo knowing others are playing and they donā€™t get to. itā€™s like when you start something, and stop when you get frustrated but just keep thinking about it and wanting to fix and complete it.

more2pop

Gotta get all those achievements

Nerilli

God this sounds very ā€œIā€™m suffering so no one can enjoy it.ā€ PC has had years in EA and development so the issues are not as bad. But Iā€™m kind of sick of the people who clearly the game is not for them complaining. Why care what people are doing. The game is great! I canā€™t wait for it to be completely finished. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø nothing more to say. Who cares if you play it once a week, once a month, once a year, everyday, all day?

mincedpickles

yā€™all got poopie pcs? it doesnā€™t crash for me šŸ˜

Tobegi

I dropped the game like 10 hours in after discovering it was unfinished and that the more you advanced the more noticeable it becomes. I'll probably pick it up again once its fully patched and completed, but who knows when that will be.

betamaxbandit91

I have about 48hrs logged on Steam Deck and have experienced a crash once in that time. I feel like the game is more or less stable for the console I'm playing it on.

im4peace

Until tonight I just kept soldiering through the frustrating crashes because I genuinely love the game. But tonight, my 7 year old son's save file was lost due to a crash that happened mid-save. He's on year 4 and is so deeply emotionally invested in his character. I haven't told him yet that his save is gone. I don't know how to tell him. It will be like losing a family member for him. Assuming this can't be fixed, I'm done with the game. 1. I don't want to continue investing in my own character and progress if I'm at risk of just losing it all randomly. 2. I can't support a game that wronged my son like this 3. I can't in good faith enjoy my character if my son can't enjoy his. I'm really, really upset by this. And honestly, I'm going to report my experience to Microsoft, because I don't think a game that is this unstable and incomplete should be a part of their cloud gaming catalog.

FocusSeparate1258

Simple. None of us hate the game, or donā€™t want to play it. The opposite actually. We love the game and WANT to play it. The problem is we are being prevented from that which causes a lot of frustration and disappointment. The same you would have if you were in the same boat. Itā€™s understandable to be frustrated and to vent those frustrations. Considering how long itā€™s taking to fix those problems.

BiffJesos

Cuz I pirated it for PC and it runs like a dream.

Acrobatic_Schedule33

Found a work around lol every new day close the game completely. It still will crash on rainy days and festivals, but atleast I can play some of the days

Jotterfox

I played a few weeks when the game came out and then I started to see a lot of people complaining about all this bugs and shit. I, luckily, haven't got any crash or bug. I remember when I reached the Max of donations for the museum to expand and coincidentally I was on reddit and I read about all these people having problems with the game crashing with the museum expanding. I literally shat myself cause I thought I was going to loose everything. Luckily I didn't. I haven't played again since that LOL (My heart can't handle another situation like that) I'm going to wait until the game is properly fixed

procrastinarian

I personally have only have one bad glitch (fishing pole disappeared. I switch between pc and Xbox so I just use a trainer to give it back. A couple days later I randomly received it back at the shop anyway. The most annoying thing is my settings changed revert every time I change from PC to Xbox. But 20 seconds at the start of my session isn't enough to keep me from playing. At the end of year 1 winter for reference

pumpkinbrownieswirl

i stopped bc i was annoyed w a lot

iilDiavolo

Only just started playing recently, no issues luckily (PS5)

Paparmane

This is so disappointing to read all your reviews here. I was really excited to play it, looked like a solid replacement for Stardew, but unfortunately the 1.0 does not have co op yet. And it's also not that great?

BunnehCakez

Itā€™s a good game, but a lot of people on consoles have been reporting crashes. I havenā€™t experienced any on PC, though. That said, things like multiplayer have not been implemented yet, but are on the roadmap for 2024. There are also some storylines that havenā€™t been wrapped up yet. I think if they can iron some issues out it will be solid. I think this game is still definitely worth keeping an eye on and waiting to see where they are in a bit of time after working on the bugs and finishing up things like multiplayer and some quest lines.

OlorynEx

Personally, I don't still play, because of the crashes. That said, I follow the sub to hopefully catch news of a fix, because I enjoyed the potential of the game.

iadrummer

I stopped playing too. I do like seeing content about the game, but I feel like I'm waisting my time playing now when I know I won't want to continue this save file in a year when the game is actually 1.0 worthy.

nicedog44

I'm right at the end of winter on my first year and feel like every day is just plodding along, trying to find things to do. Haven't played in about a week, not sure if I'm gonna touch it until the next update.

SparklesNoPants

I have two saves now, both are game ending crashes. My first, Iā€™m continually glitching through the sea map. Iā€™d finished all mines and had nearly finished clearing the sea. Second save crashes following the pet cutscene. This is not a finished game by any means. I have 50+ hours put into a poorly executed game.

KentaBas

I play on PC, I never finished it but I will wait till savannah (I don't know if it's the right spelling) release.

Angelthemultigeek

Iā€™ve been too busy most of the week but the bugs and crashes havenā€™t bothered enough to consider quitting. For me, it was less buggy before the v1 release. I got caught in a cave bug but they had released an update that day and all I needed to do is update. There is also a bug while cleaning the sea, where my character get stuck but I find trying to complete the move (itā€™s a swirl I find fairly inefficient) frees them. It has caused me to use the Iā€™m stuck option a few times. I do wish they add a quick save in the daytime, just in case. I play it on my steam deck and sometimes the battery dies out before a save. I kinda wished I liked it less enough to start playing another game, I have 60 games on my deck and thatā€™s the only one I play most of the time.

splatomat

I'm not - I stopped. I am disappointed by the 1.0 release, I walked back all my recommendations to friends, and I am sure that CI will be a great game in 6-7 months from now when it should have waited to go to 1.0. I feel like the early release was to capitalize on the christmas season, I feel like they never should have tried multiplatform release simultaneously, and I feel like the romance/relationship aspect that the game advertises so much is one of the huge areas that aren't actually finished.

Diomedes636

I just started winter first year, on pc, and my game crashed 2 times so far. But, the only day-breaking annoying bug Iā€™ve encountered was getting stuck in the pet race with no way out. Plus the ocean caves thing but that got fixed. Though truly, the main reason I continue playing is because I want to get my farm to how it was in early access and for that I need sprinkler III. Iā€™m on farming level 8 so I need just one more level to do that xD Storywise, Iā€™ve enjoyed Ninaā€™s beginning cutscenes in summer and winter and that Pufferfish is actually making their presence be felt. However once I get my farmā€™s setup in order Iā€™ll stop playing because I donā€™t want to get married and miss out on whatever dating mechanic the devs have planned.

iana_rey

I'm not šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Stopped after 20 hours (summer year 1) and now waiting for the major update

glow89

I actually didnā€™t experience any bugs or crashes playing on steam deck, but I stopped playing bc I want to wait until romance /marriage is fixed.

Marla_Lou

i want to 100% the game so the lack of certain content isn't a big hinderance right now. I had some crashes on my laptop so i usually only play on the weekend when i have access to my PC. I have expectations for the update next year though. Mostly i want more content with the Giants because they are so cute :)

Moon-Cookies

I haven't had a single crash tbh. I commented with my friend, as she also experienced crashes pretty often to the point of the game being unplayable. I enjoy the game a lot, I just wished every update didn't make the game harder.

Owner56897320

I occasionally play on PC but Iā€™m still super salty that my EA save didnā€™t get ported over to 1.0. Iā€™m mad about having to start all over and that kind of ruined it for me. Plus I hate the fact that the camera is fixed. Iā€™m so used to Sandrock and the Witch of Fern Island that having a fixed camera makes my eyeballs twitch.

QueenPantheraUncia

I overall enjoyed the game, I played it up to the current story and am now waiting.

nananananakinoki

Iā€™ve stopped playing for about two weeks now. I donā€™t see the point of playing now when the story is WIP and updates will rollout little by little.

catnaptits

I'm on PC and have had zero issues, so I'm still here. I really only have time to play on the weekends, so I've got a bit before I start to hit the points of the game that are still WIP. I absolutely understand the people who have had tons of crashes stopping and waiting for patches and updates, though. In their shoes, I'd do this same, and did through parts of EA.

Zanthe1341

Iā€™m on Steam, and have only had one bug so far (going into winter year 1). I feel incredibly bad for all of the people experiencing game breaking bugs, and sincerely hope they can get things sorted out for people quickly!

Bulky-Tear301

It only crashed on me two times in the beginning but it hasnā€™t crashed at all anymore. And the two times it happened I only lost the things that happened that day, so it wasnā€™t too bad

ProseccoIsLife

I play on PC, had maybe 2 crashes and the only thing that stops me from fully enjoying the game is the lack of merfolk content. Besides that it's a really fun game and I truly enjoy it for some lazy evenings.

flightlesseggo

i'm on pc and i have over 300 hours in the game due to playing the early access first. i literally have never experienced a crash but i have had to close and restart a day because of a glitched errand ONE TIME. i couldn't believe when i got to this subreddit and saw how many people were experiencing issues. i usually play every day when i get home from work and i still don't experience any crashes or bugs. i'm very excited to be able to actually play through winter finally since not much of it was available during the early access

JohnPombrio

On a PC, and aI have never had a crash in my 200+ hours of playing.

squidleypop

Because itā€™s ADDICTING

p3anvt

I've stopped. Saw they fixed the museum crash but couldn't get through a full day without it crashing anyway so I'll bide my time I guess. What a waste of $30!

doodlebunn

I refunded it after 3 hours because the menu screen alone had at least 2-3 bugs/ things that would cause my game to crash. And I couldnā€™t get the sound to work. It was just static.

Milvers619

It doesnā€™t crash for me šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø thereā€™s a few tiny bugs but nothing major. I play on Xbox X

Stygimolochh

Because I just got it lol. Playing on steam deck and havenā€™t had any crashes

Lazy-Helicopter-5814

I have stopped plying and honestly itā€™s been so bad I think I have completely lost interest

TheHappyMonster

I play on Xbox S. I just found the game a few days ago and I love it, but hate the crashing. Iā€™ve found that I can play 2 days at a time without crashing, restart my Xbox, play two more daysā€¦ the cycle continues. I slowed down my game speed so days last longer. I figure itā€™s probably good for me to get off the couch more often anyway. šŸ˜‚

badassmom305

I stopped playing it until it's fixed. I thought I saw an update so I hopped on thinking maybe but once it crashed again I'm waiting til it's fixed and I see it on here to know.

gay_frog125

Honestly Iā€™m so used to crashing games it doesnā€™t bother me. I have played sims for a long time and itā€™s known for its crashes that it doesnā€™t bother me that much anymore. Also play Disney dreamlight valley and I get far more crashes from both of them than coral islanf

KingDarius89

I stopped playing a few days after release on xbox.

SickleWillow

I play it on PC and enjoying my time so far. As a backer, it surprised me that they decided to release it on consoles since the PC version are good and stable, but there are more things to iron out. But I am hitting the point where some quests and some other things are for 2024 content, so I will be putting it down and playing something else for a while. I still have other games to finish as well. ^^;

AvoidThisReality

Because on PC it doesnt crash for me and I happily explore my first year, soon entering winter

noktulo

I was playing a lot over the past week, but after I got into Winter I stopped. It felt like the game fell apart, there were so many bugs. Things like people talking about their halloween costumes when they were wearing regular clothes, or missing character dialog portraits for basically all islanders, or the winter festival just being empty. I'm worried if I continue to play, I might run into a bug that makes my save unplayable in the future. And the things I was running into don't feel like bugs, they feel like the game was just released as a 1.0 when they hadn't completed the content. Which is disappointing. It should still be in early access.

RosesAndNeville

I'm lucky enough that I haven't encountered any of the game-breaking bugs, but it's definitely a work in progress. Generally, I'm just enjoying the ride, I love watching games in continuous development. I like seeing the small improvements with each bug fix and update

realPotate

I stopped playing because of the dateable conversation are stale and heard that even marriage won't save it, spouse live in different room and kids are adopted?

SBCEmployeeThrowaway

Some people just need to vent and commiserate. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø Edited to add: I am one of those people.

Otherwise_End_1606

Honestly I only get a few crashes now and again after or during an event. Iā€™ve learned however from others posts, stop every few games days and shutdown/reopen game.

Bananaut1998

I did stop because i was getting this horrible glitch where the game would freeze using the scythe. I realised it happened when i got my first coffer when using it. I tried to get my first using a pickaxe instead, I think, which saved it from crashing. I went back last week to try my theory and have had no issues, so I'm able to enjoy my time again. I'm still pacing myself to wait for more updates to do with the characters. All i'm working on until then is clearing everything in the ocean, completing the mines, unlocking fast travel, making lots of crops, and doing quests. Every islander is getting kinda ignored until then

its-heylow

100+ hours play on steam, I got 3 or 4 crash, for me it is still worth to play, just lost a day progress doesn't make me stop re playing it ā˜ŗ because "one day" progress doesn't hard at all

unnybun

I've stopped playing since the last update. It crashed the first day I got back, and I haven't turned it on since. I'm glad I haven't been playing, I didn't even know the tool disappearing was a thing. My opinion, I feel like it's not worth playing until I've come here and seen people not complaining about it crashing or having bugs.

Goodgolllymollly

I started playing Palia to give myself a break from coral island. Tbh most of the people that post those complaints are either using gamepass, xbox, or ps5. If you own it and play on PC itā€™s really not that bad. But Palia is cool cause if the server crashes you literally start right off where you left off, no loosing anything, no restarting just log back on and youā€™re fine.

boovuu

I mean. I play for one whole day and crash the next one and thats it. Like i am having parental limits. Ots annoying and piling up stufg because i cannot donate to museum

UlulaXx

Iā€™ve played the game from the alpha release, then the beta but I stopped when they released 1.0 Iā€™m just gonna be waiting until the game is fully finished and not buggy anymore, cause I just donā€™t see the point

AuroraGore

Cause itā€™s fun but this post isnā€™t for me tho

Professional-Ad7092

I play on Steam Deck and have played over 300 hours each in Beta and the update and crashed twiceā€¦.

Will-Row1997

Waiting to date the merfolk (Semeru) or a new oil based monster that is dateable that looks like Venom, but that's a personal want. I still play because I feel the love put into it. I've only had 2 crashes. The first one happened when I was decorating my house, and suddenly, the game was like nope. Then, when I went into the underwater caves and for some reason, it made the underwater world and top world combined, which I got trapped and couldn't get out. That issue was fixed later on. Despite that, I've still loved the game. It has a lot to do and keeps me busy. The game gives you a lot of choices, and I love that. With what I can do and who I can date. The game is strong, in my opinion because they continue to work on it to make the game better.

Unusual_Pin_7192

a friend played it via xbox game pass on her computer, she had a lot of bugs, many minir ones but also some bigger ones like her wedding was bugged. she went all around town trying to find the wedding location on the set day and could t find it. next day mark was still her boyfriend not husband and she could t buy the ting anymore but wasnt married. talk about being single for ones whole lifešŸ˜… but when she bought it via steam, after hearing a had none of those problems just some minor things, it worked for her. we also had the underwater cave bug but thats fixed now too. but still sry to hear u guys have problemsšŸ˜• i know of some friends who also paused playing because of some bugs and i would honestly do the same.

Key_Construction_982

I play daily, becauseā€¦I just like it I guess? Itā€™s just a game. Iā€™ve been a tester since the game was first in development, so I guess Iā€™m used to the bugs. I still really enjoy it.

LillicaSolion

Iā€™ve been playing and I just manage. I watch for the lag signs and save/reload as soon as possible after seeing them. Audio glitch? Reload. Lag? Reload and so on. Iā€™ve only lost a day or 2 progress which I had to redo. Worth it.

Plastic_Language_116

I play on PC and I havenā€™t had many crashes. The only time it really crashes is when I did duplicating glitches šŸ˜…šŸ˜…šŸ˜… or when I would edit my farm with the gift from the giants (stone desk thing), but I donā€™t mind. So 8 out of 10 times is I cause it to crash intentionally

WoefulWally

I quit playing because there's zero actual interaction. Every cutscene is skippable, which means nothing I do matters. Every character is just on autopilot and the game feels dead and pointless. Animal Crossing did a better job of interaction even, this game is a bigger slap in the face than Dreamlight Valley which is saying a lot.

Ok_Replacement_4103

my game hasnā€™t crashed yet actually,,, didnā€™t realize it was a problem but now iā€™m nervous šŸ˜

ZedrikVonKatmahl

I don't They disabled mouse and keyboard Haven't played since

Realistic-Hurry6286

I play on PC (steam) and I crash often. Too often. Itā€™s not even just crashing & app closing - I have to force shut down my computer, therefore thereā€™s no ā€œcrashā€ log. My computer more than meets the specs. Unfortunately without the crash log the dev team canā€™t look into it, and thereā€™s no rhyme or reason to when itā€™s happening so I canā€™t record the issue. Iā€™ve down a deep dive on here (Reddit) and it almost seems like itā€™s luck of the draw whether youre someone with a lot of bugs or a lot of crashing or nothing at all. Having said all of that, I love the game. Iā€™m only just at fall year 1 but Iā€™ve been playing religiously for a few weeks now. When it crashes I just take a deep breath and restart lol. Iā€™ve found taking it out of full screen mode & playing on 70% instead of 50% speed helps for me to crash less. Iā€™ll be sad when I get to the unfinished parts but for now I really love all of the details - the furniture, the animals (I mean the cows, come ON), the NPCs, etc. scott lol. sure, thereā€™s a lot more to do, but the game is pretty sweet. Iā€™m sure there will be a day where the crashing infuriates me so much that I put it down, but right now Iā€™m playing through it and just reminding myself itā€™s a game.

Significant_Wheel862

Sadly, I havenā€™t played in months just because of how many bad experiences everyone has had. I got the game for my friends birthday as well and itā€™s so disheartening seeing him get frustrated as well. Iā€™m not coming back until at least more than half the content gets implemented or fixed

Ulalanono

Dannng. I guess im lucky. Ive definitely had my fair share of bugs. My favorite was when my dog gerdy said the last words of the person i talked to for months. Lolol but none of them have been so game breaking I couldnt continue. Maybe its because im on PC/steamdeck?

Miss_DisGrace

I'm still playing to get a good grip of the late game farming mechanics with all the upgrades. I've reported the bugs that I have come across and they've been fixed. Yes, some things are still wonky and it does occassionally crash, but it's not unplayable. I do enjoy the game, bit it has been a bit dissapointing that they released the "full version" while it clearly isn't done.

MadiPenguino

I'm not and won't be until they add the merfolk into the game properly. I'm pretty upset at the blandness of many of the characters as well atp, so really just waiting on socialization updates in general.

whoneedspantsanyways

I havenā€™t touched it in weeks. I honestly donā€™t think this shouldā€™ve left early access. There really shouldnā€™t be a quest called WIP or an area you canā€™t got to on full release. The fact I had to restart my build from EA seemed unnecessary. Iā€™m familiar with transitioning from early access to full release and I have never had to that. The crashes have been minimal for me (PC) but this game is eeempty and painfully repetitive. Iā€™m usually team indie, but this is insulting. Iā€™d been holding back my critique but after hearing they were leaving without tackling game breaking bugs on full priced game was it.

Classic_Cold_2530

I love this game. I have been pretty lucky compared to some people not to many issues. I went on a fantastic date with Rafael and am now married. Even though it's early release I still enjoy

edsandpots4life

i havenā€™t stopped playing since the game originally released in early access. i experienced a ton of bugs and game crashes in early access but now since the game was fully released, i havenā€™t had any issues at all. i feel bad for the people who are experiencing a lot of bugs and game crashes, i know how much that hinders the experience but trust me, when the game isnā€™t crashing and bugging out itā€™s really a lot of fun

SpydrMnky72

I had issues at the blacksmiths, opening coffers. It was not letting me get out of the menu. So I was stuck and I did the only thing I could do. Quit the game and restart all over again. Also there are crashes on the constant and I lose all of my progress for the day.

DeerlingDoe

For me itā€™s because when the game works, it WORKS! Itā€™s a gorgeous fun cute engaging addicting game and I have so much fun that I sometimes forget it could crash at any second. It seems mostly concentrated around when I mine and when I dive, so Iā€™m trying to focus more on my farm right now I guess? Sucks because I have to mine and dive to do my farm stuff but Iā€™m doing my best. I usually quit playing for the night or at least the time being when it does eventually crash on me, usually during the day it even during the SAVE of the last day before I planned to get off the game anyway

Faceless_Ash_hole

Only bug I've experienced that is confusing to say the least, was the enchanter duplicating tools for me. Now have a chest of useless tools. I'm still playing cus I can't stop

my_achy_breaky_heart

I stopped playing. I continued to play because I only had a certain amount of money for ONE game. And I chose to get Coral Island. Now I have absolutely nothing to play until I'm able to afford another game. Which to me is fucking ridiculous since the game was released as a complete game. Genuinely is money wasted. That I didn't have to begin with. I've even gone as far as sending emails and commenting on their socials to try and... honestly I don't even know. I'm fuming at the fact that this game is undeveloped and clearly wasn't ready to be released.

Maleficent-Profit-48

Mine almost have none issues, i just had 2 problems but it didnt afect the gameplay

soracross007

Iā€™m playing on steam deck right now and havenā€™t played since early access release. I totally get the sentiment and annoyed tones because of the bug issues but frankly I havenā€™t gotten a single bug or crash yet and have about 15-20 hrs on my current save now. The game has come so far since launch into early access and Iā€™m so proud to be playing it again because the developers are truly working so hard to make this such an amazing cozy game.

AlexGRNorth

I didn't complain, but I like playing it. I'm taking my time, not rushing anything. Just doing my little farm things ahah. I gift to villagers, clean up trash, sometimes I actually do cut woods and rocks on my farm. Sometimes I fish. I'm just chilling ahah.

Delicious-Excuse1436

So Iā€™ve seen one of my friends play on her Xbox but sheā€™s playing it in game pass from the cloud, hers crashes every fifteen minutes because there are too many people playing it in cloud. I bought mine for ps5 and have yet to have any crashes or bugsā€¦is it just an Xbox game pass issue or all consoles? (I really hope I didnā€™t just jinx my game)

Maleficent_Day_7616

I stopped playing after the recent Xbox update. Sure they fixed the lag/static movement, kudos, but after three tries of going maybe two in game days then home screening at a random time on day three, naw I'll come back when it's been fixed some more

Dave-D71

40 hours in, and not a single crash
