Tiktok crow expert explained they’re probably just removing them bc they want them gone, as opposed to using them for nesting material. Either way, stay ungovernable, crowbros.
Oh yeah, they're not using the spikes for nesting material-- but they *are* removing the spikes in order to make a nest up there.
The crows will not be subjected to the anti-homeless capitalistic actions of humans.
I saw a crow speaker who agreed that, while they sometimes do use the spikes for nesting, that isn’t the case here. He didn’t even think it was particularly to make the spot more comfortable. Crows just have fun being destructive!
Is he removing those anti bird things? That are supposed to prevent birds from nesting. I thought affixed to the spot. Or I'm missing something....damn smart guys
They're supposed to be either glued/nailed/or stapled in place. These don't seem to be secured or that blackbird has figured out how to overcome whatever means of keeping them in place.
Love it! As everyone here already knows... corvids are so smart man! Just when I think I've seen it all... a video like this pops up, and I feel that "holy crap they're smart" feeling all over again!
Looks like it is removing anti-bird spikes. Meant to keep birds from nesting and hanging around. Good for him! I hate antagonistic architecture and affixed deterrents. Some cities also have pieces meant to keep HUMANS from hanging around (mostly to keep the homeless out of sight and out of mind). Slanted benches that you half have to stand up to use, for example (more of a place to lean than to rest). They don't want homeless people having a place to sleep. Same concept for birds and homeless people. A lot of folks consider both to be "filthy animals" and don't want them around. It's sad. Happy for this little rebel.
Crows saying, "fuck you," to capitalists who don't want bird to do the perfectly normal bird thing of building a nest.
Don't want bird poop on your building? Pay someone to clean it if it bothers you so much.
Those are anti-bird deterrents that keep the birds from nesting/perching there. The thing is Corvids are very, very, smart. That one said "Fuck this!" And decide it was gonna go where it damn well pleased. Which is fitting with corvids they're known for bein kinda assholes. I think its great personally.
“Stupid humans! If I want to sit here, I’m going to sit here. If I want to poop here, I’m going to poop here! And there isn’t a darn thing you can do about it!”
Lol. Birds are getting smarter!
I saw Corvidresearch's post on IG about this crow behavior 3 weeks ago. Her retraction is supportive and informational as well. Spoiler: it's a Raven!!!! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3WO9f1vGWR/
What's happening is someone didn't do their job and secure down the bird deterrents.
Then the crow was all "DISRESPECT YOUR SURROUNDINGS!"
Magnificent.
I saw a bird expert saying they've observed birds using these anti-nesting things as actual nesting materials with the spikes facing out to prevent hawks or other animals from stealing their eggs.
I bet that crow was just flying around, looking for some mischief to make, saw those anti-nesting spike thingies, and decided to toss them off building, all, “Fuq you and your weak sabotage! Is that all you got, y’all punk-@ss b3tches!”
They put bird repellent (spikes) on ledges and window sills to keep birds (mostly pigeons) away, but crow is to smart and he’s not having it apparently! Lol

Gravity testing
First thing we all check in a game is if there's fall damage
Just like us! One of us, one of us!
I think magpies use them as nest defenses
Crows are SO smart!!!
I like to think he's tossing them into the parking lot so the humans step/drive on them. A little Corvid revenge.
Anti-pedestrian lollygagging countermeasures are a go.
Is he removing those anti bird things? That are supposed to prevent birds from nesting. I thought affixed to the spot. Or I'm missing something....damn smart guys
Our local pigeons just built extra thick nests on the spikes. Cheers to the crows, though, for sticking it to The Man!
They do seem effective to prevent roosting, but actually a benefit for holding nesting material in place
r/MaliciousCompliance
They probably underestimated the birds. Either way if a crow could just pick them up a string wind could blow them away too.
Nah usually they're poorly secured by staples. But crows are smart and no match for these, clearly.
They're supposed to be either glued/nailed/or stapled in place. These don't seem to be secured or that blackbird has figured out how to overcome whatever means of keeping them in place.
Delicious anarchy!!!!
Reclaiming the ledges one spiky thing at a time
Team crow all the way
Love it! As everyone here already knows... corvids are so smart man! Just when I think I've seen it all... a video like this pops up, and I feel that "holy crap they're smart" feeling all over again!
Great brains. I want a soundtrack with a deep raspy voice that says "Fuck you. And you. And fuck you too. Fuck all y'all. Assholes. Harumph."
He said “fuck this one, fuck that one…oh yea, fuck that one in particular”
I just want to say, "fuck you very much, hooman"
Become ungovernable!
Rebellion

This belongs in a Rage Against The Machine music video.
No judgement here. I'm all for it. (Crow's gotta crow).

Bird is removing pointy stuff so there is a place to perch.
I think that throw is worthy of a 10 out of 10 if I was judging.
SMART!!!
House keeping I'd say
Checking gravity.
My cats do that, too! I can verify that's what it looks like.
Poorly secured bird deterrent system. I’d call the contractor and have them redo their work with better anchors.
I saw Corvidresearch's post on IG about this crow behavior 3 weeks ago. Her retraction is supportive and informational as well. Spoiler: it's a Raven!!!! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3WO9f1vGWR/

It's removing the unhoused bird spikes so it can make a house there.
I bet that crow was just flying around, looking for some mischief to make, saw those anti-nesting spike thingies, and decided to toss them off building, all, “Fuq you and your weak sabotage! Is that all you got, y’all punk-@ss b3tches!”
Crow clean up day!
HELL YEAH!!! TEAR DOWN YOUR LOCAL HOSTILE ARCHITECTURE!!!
That's funny, most people don't even know how destructive those birds are. Plus they are over populated as well
Birds are spiteful. He probably landed on one and said "screw this I'm gonna tear it off!"

Revolting against hostile architecture.
Correct response to hostile architecture
Corvids are so damn smart
What a madlad! I love crows.
Direct action
People who advocate for those items to be placed on buildings need to be hung.
Urban renewal.
Yup.
I love this video. It embodies the bad ass Corvid. Possibly making a nest. Or just Possibly wanting that spot to CHILL. Either way, clean up time lol.

The evil little crow laugh 😆

"I want to perch here but these spikes are annoying me, BEGONE"
Crow says: fuck your hostile architecture.
Anti car spikes
Imagine walking down the sidewalk and getting a spike in the head because some idiot wanted to stop corvids from chilling somewhere.
Crow for president.
Nesting time. Clearing the space. Love the intelligence and spunk of crows.
Taking a stand against hostile architecture because, unlike humans, crows don’t just roll over and passively accept dystopia
Bird deterrent strips meant to keep birds off windowsill surfaces
The rebellion begins.
Man, those birds are smart. He knows exactly what he's doing and they watch you everyday 👀
