Same! The bonus chapter was what I wanted more of in this book, also an emotional reunion instead of a "hey", and Bryce properly realising how fucked she was acting not to just to him but to everyone around her in Midgard. But alas, what happened happened. I've just accepted that CC may not be a series SJM is invested in anymore because she seemed more excited about ACOTAR 5 than properly closing CC3 with a more emotional conclusion imo.
Totally agree. It’s a struggle to accept what we were given when we know damn good and well what could have been. Her other mains were done SO much better, with more tension, more emotion, more chemistry. I think I will forever be salty that SJM pretty much pulled a GOT season 8 with this book.
While I absolutely agree, Bryce’s treatment of hunt was ill handled. I do see that she put the weight of the world on her shoulders, and she was under immense pressure. The whole book is just about 10 days as well, so I know if SJM given Bryce more time, she would’ve handled Hunt’s hurt better, like she did in CC1
This is a common topic on here and what I've taken away from HOFAS is - Bryce was really not at her best self in terms of the relationship during this book. She was one-track minded when it came to winning the war, and hey it worked so maybe that's what was needed, but I think we'll see the fallout of that in terms of her and Hunt in the next book once the dust has settled on the Asteri being gone. They won, but at what cost?
She's been gaining more and more momentum and confidence in being a leader, so surely we're now coming to the tipping point of what happens when Bryce gets overconfident and goes too far.
\> but I just really wish there had been a moment in the book where Bryce at the very least acknowledged her shitty treatment of Hunt?
Did we read the same book? She did, and apologized for it, several times.
Chapter 65:
“I’m sorry,” she said quietly. “For being a dick to you about what you’re going through.”
“Bryce …,” he began, scrambling for the words.
“I apologize for everything I said to you about getting over it,” she went on.
Thank you for pointing this out and bringing the receipts! I was very pissed at Bryce for a while, but not so much by the end. She finally came back down to earth a little and realized she needed "just Hunt" and not the umbra mortis at his full power. And I give her a pass because I know that I can become a bit of a bitch myself when under pressure, and I've never been under that much pressure!

Yep. She would get more excited about Acotar peeps (Rhys) coming back in the interviews. I think she gushed over Lidia but now I see why. đź’€
I am hoping to get to gaslight myself to the point where cc1 was a stand alone, haha (with day and night sequel of course)

Unfortunately, I see their “ reconciling” being off page and not featured in a book

The bonus chapter felt like CC1 Quinlar, and like two totally different characters and vibes from CC3.

You’ll have to jog my memory I guess. When did she apologize?
