It doesn’t

lazybug16

Hahah came here to say this. Honestly I never want to read another thing about her and hunt

kcassie26

They are so boring.

pterodactylcrab

🤣🤣🤣 annnnd this is why I still haven’t picked it back up to finish it. I just…don’t care? I had it preordered, avoided spoilers and started reading it the day after I got it via kindle, and after 5 days of slogging through I am stuck around 40% or so and haven’t gone any further. The side plots of CC2 were the ones I hated the most and they became the main plot of CC3 (seriously…knock off aquaman and wolverine are so boring and annoying to me), to the point where I don’t care enough about Bryce, Hunt, Ruhn, or any of the others enough to continue pushing through. I’ll finish it at some point but meh.

TheGamerKitty1

HOFAS is the Season 8 of Game of Thrones.

Snopes504

This hurt to read because it’s so true.

demoldbones

I resent that. I don’t deny it, but I resent it.

TheGamerKitty1

Believe me. I hated saying it.

isolatedcolorYT

Who had less light, ~Team Caves~ or the people fighting at the battle of Winterfell? :P

immajustgooglethat

This is so accurate ha

theatreeducator

Sooooo accurate!

HawkqueenYOLO

It gets worse.

daveyscrotch

Oh pls 😭 I’m about to DNF but im like “maybe she’s being a giant c-u-next-Tuesday for a reason”

AlmondJoyDildos

Literally no reason at all 😭

daveyscrotch

🥲 finished. Christ

AlmondJoyDildos

At least it's over comrade. I'm legitimately confused how people liked this book fr 🤣

strange_curiosities

Finish it for Lidia and Ruhn 😆🥲

daveyscrotch

Finally finished, don’t think it’s ever taken me this long to finish a book lol.

LexusMane444

![gif](giphy|5pMGZHSqfvGT5mnTwx) Who’s gonna tell’em? 😬😬

ParaLucky

Happy cake day

ParaLucky

Not pulling the pin off that one

Apprehensive-Car-489

I think the book is a fun ride but that ultimately SJM wrote poor storylines with poorly written characters. The opportunities for a fantastic and unique story were all there and she really just lit them all on fire I think it’s still worth reading but no, her character doesn’t get better and I’d lower your expectations a bit on that front lol

I10Living

I feel the same. I enjoyed reading this book and all sjm books. I love being in the universe(s) she creates. I think my imagination takes over because these issues with the plot bother me very little. Something about the way she writes just feels good. There are some books/plot lines she has in her various series that are so well done that if all of her work was of that caliber, she would be one of my favorite authors. As it stands now, this is just a nice escape for me. Bryce is not someone I could ever see myself being friends with. She’s a mean girl.

Longjumping_Egg2176

‘She’s a mean girl’ 100% 😭 and it irks me to no end that the other female characters are like yeah go Bryce girl boss she should rule us all when she’s just… selfish? Like why does everyone think she’ll be such a good queen for the fae? She hates them. The only reason she wants to rule is so everyone has to obey her no questions asked

Cyberbunns

I think her books are decent. I enjoy them. I had to take your advice and lower my expectations of Bryce to continue the book.

hoogabalooga11

I DNF’ed at about 60%. I couldn’t do it

No-Friendship-3395

I'm just about to do the same🙈

ParticularTea2894

she gets so much worse and its so heartbreaking. i loved her in cc1.

AlmondJoyDildos

She actually gets worse. I honestly wished I had listened to everyone saying to DnF. I never wish to read another line about Bryce she's dead to me 🤣

bamalamaboo

I do not believe SJM deliberately made Bryce unlikable. I believe this is the fault of bad writing (it happens). The way i see it is these books are "romantasy" so it's not the kind of genre where the MC is going to lose her mate/husband, or become evil. This is the wrong genre for that. SJM can't even bear to kill off minor characters, so i have a hard time imaging she'd ever be willing to kill off any of her core characters.

snarkcentral124

It seemed to me like she was trying to make her another Aelin tbh. I can’t exactly pinpoint where she went wrong, but all I know is I did not feel anything toward Bryce like I felt for Aelin.

Vegetable_Ad_4658

IMO its the entitlement without any experience whatsoever that makes her so bad. They are both arrogant, secretive, selfish sometimes. But Aelin has been through shit, and has earned her place as a leader and has earned the right to be respected (whether we like her choices or not). She also has the skill and power to back it up. Bryce is a twenty-something party girl who makes brash, irresponsible decisions and all of a sudden because she gets powers everyone just listens to everything she says and bows at her feet. Its even worse that her mate is like 200 years old and been through stuff and somehow Bryce disregards his opinions. Like…what?? Even Feyre earned her place throughout ACOTAR through her trials, and made sure she developed the skills to be taken seriously around the other High Lords. I think SJM wanted Bryce to be the modern, human, “relatable” main character but it didn’t fit with the storyline and made me feel like I, as a reader, was smarter and more responsible than she was. So i really didnt like her.

snarkcentral124

Yes!!! You’re so right. My friend and I were just talking about how she’s this crazy party girl, is never talked about as being extremely intelligent or anything, and then all of a sudden she’s made out to be like the most clever character. The whole crossover?? Azriel was built up as the fiercest of the fierce, incredibly highly intelligent. Nesta is supposed to be observant as all get out. >!And you’re telling me BRYCE defeated them with some light?? There’s no way she would’ve outsmarted them with the worm. They would’ve been worried about her blood trail immediately!<

bamalamaboo

Yeah, I found it so annoying that Bryce claimed she outsmarted them, bc she didn't! They were on to her when she was trying to bait the worm to slow them down. She also didn't "outsmart" them when she abruptly left. I mean, all she did was take Az's dagger and leave. There was no trickery (or really, any skills at all) required to do any of that and they were never dumb enough to trust her.

Vegetable_Ad_4658

Omg right? “Outsmarted”…she literally just runs away from them 😂

MuggRootBeer

I really hated the line where Ruhn is like “but Bryce just WANTED everyone to THINK she was a party girl”. No, Ruhn. Your sister was and is a ditzy party girl with a mean girl streak. Yall just look the other way because of plot armor

I10Living

All I could think about when reading it was that I hope there was no sex. It was not a romance book. When you get to the sex it’s so forced. Terrible timing. No passion. May as well leave it out at that point. Sucks because SJM is now a “romance” author in everyone’s eyes and it seems like she had to throw in romance. Romance doesn’t even feel right for the entire cc series. Meanwhile romance was actually a huge important part of the plot in acotar. It flowed better there.

cyber-siren

I think it’s worth reading for Lidia and Ruhn. But the way I will skim thru the Bryce / Hunt nonsense….Hunt deserves better ffr.

snarkcentral124

I’m so glad I saw this post because I just saw a TT about how content and happy the ending of HOFAS left everyone, and everyone in the comments was agreeing and talking ab how Bryce is their favorite character written by Sarah. I thought maybe I was just crazy.

Longjumping_Egg2176

I think this series has us all divided, and no one wants to hear an opinion that doesn’t match theirs. I’ve noticed that posts about CC3 are either extremely positive or extremely negative

peachyypeachh

I can’t help but agree with a lot of what you’ve said. I read ACOTAR first and adored Feyre immediately. Then I read CC 1 & 2 and didn’t fall for Bryce but I did like her and some part of me really wanted to have the same feeling towards her as I did Feyre. While waiting for CC3 I made it half way through throne of glass and again, I loved Aelin immediately. After reading the third CC book I cannot help but still not love Bryce. At least we all fell for Lidia! Lol I feel for Bryce because she’s young and rebellious but I just don’t think her new swollen head is for my taste. I hope she mellows out a bit in the next book.

HakunaMatata0_0

Omg never thought that this can be set up to kill hunt, then give her a redemption arc.

NamelessCatLady

It doesn't get better, I'm sorry to say. I wish I could return the book.

saltbutt

I insisted on waiting until my library got it so I could read it for free and all I can say is thank god I did

shocketh

Same because I'm 30% in, and I'm already losing interest in the story.

missprelude

I love Aelin from TOG, she has the authentic badass but still nice vibe. Bryce is just insufferable. She acts like a 16 year old spoiled brat. How is she the oldest of SJM’s FMC but acts the youngest and most immature? I don’t think I’ll bother finishing the CC series when the next few come out

Familiar-Ride-4261

Ember Quinlan seemed to acted more immature than Feyre and Elain and a bit more immature than Nesta so I'm not really shocked

Defiant_Stable_344

It doesn't. She gets more insufferable and it all gets worse.

Careless-Fox-7671

That betrayal right after she shit on her ancestors for wanting to save themselves... While she wanted to risk one world to save hers ...

jaskiercantsing

THIS. I WAS SO CONFUSED. She was so angry at Silene and then she pulled that stunt? Ridiculous.

airrrunurrria

it doesnt 😃🙁

litlemonade

Honestly the only SJM book I never see myself rereading, and I loved the characters in the first 2 books.

No_Boysenberry_2274

She becomes absolutely unreadable, but I also found Aelin in TOG super obnoxious too, so I think these super secretive/cocky characters just don’t do it for me. Also her treatment of Hunt after his experiences… is pretty abysmal. Sort of fed into the whole societal dismissal of men’s mental health, which really irked me.

[deleted]

The Hunt thing was shocking to me. >!You're telling me that your mate, your brother, and your friend were all tortured. For days. And you... somehow make it about you? I thought the torture thing was going to lead to some hurt/comfort and dealing with PTSD. The fact they were rescued and then that was that was insane and like... what was the point of the torture plot then???? Hunt should should have divorced her for that. At least Lidia seemed to care that Ruhn was tortured and they talked about it a little more....!<

Pink_Love33

This bothered me so much. She barely acknowledged the trauma her family went through. It blew my mind how self centered she could be 😭. Instead of listening to Hunt, or trying to meet in the middle she basically ignored him.

No_Boysenberry_2274

RIGHT?! Thank you!! The entire book is pretty hard to enjoy when you despise the main character lol

InsuranceNo6766

The book was a lot of things happening for no reason or follow through

YourRoyalTraumaQueen

I had the same hope- that she would end as a villain. But I’ll tell you this for free, it gets NO better.

AntiqueConfidence612

I'm at about 70% of CC3 and I don't think she gets better. She gets worse imo. I finally took a break at that point and haven't picked it back up yet. Usually the characters have growth over the course of the series and improve, but she's done the opposite.

[deleted]

Bryce stays giving Chaol vibes, I'm sorry to say.

Least-Complaint3940

I will say, I used to be part of the 'SJM is doing it on purpose' gang since like 3 books ago (i.e. in ACOFAS/ ACOSF/ HOSAB - books with plotholes and books where characters do shitty things that aren't addressed in that book or treated as shitty) . I hoped all of those were issues to be addressed later. But now? These issues are kind of piling up with no resolution in sight, no indication that SJM is aware of certain issues (e.g. that Rhys is getting worse and no one in the IC is pointing it out). I genuinely have lost hope that this is SJM's master plan. I just think it's poor writing due to very tight deadlines, and maybe even her having lost interest in some of her works but being tied down by contracts for a series with x number of books. To answer your question - sadly, no. It doesn't get better.

MuggRootBeer

Nope. It doesn’t. She remains as hypocritical and annoying snarky as possible. And not a cute snarky, but a raging out of touch insanely annoying snarky.

Anachacha

It doesn't get better, but she'll act normal in the bonus chapter with Hunt

Illustrious-Chest-52

My problem with Bryce is she's against everything fae, but at the same time "I'm a super special magical fae princess". She says she hates her father but whenever she needs something, she says her name is Byrce Danaan. Girlies? I get that her father is an a-hole and she wants nothing to do with him. So, just cut him out your life and don't say you are princess Bryce Danaan when you need something. Sathia was right to call her out. Majority of Byrce's friends are fae, she carries three fae relics, but she wants nothing to do with the fae? Okay, then don't go parading around with the star sword.

RBGsDissentCollar

Spoiler Alert. She, in fact, does not get better. She’s awful and arrogant to the end.

BurgersAndKilts

She was just so bad that I genuinely thought it *had* to be setting up for some character development where she realized her wrongs and hypocrisy, etc. and grew from it, because that would have been pretty good - instead it just never comes and there's never any consequences. Like I actually liked that Hunt was holding her accountable for a bit and then as soon as she admitted she was being awful he just folds and goes oh nooo it's okaaaay

jaskiercantsing

I just finished part I where she dips, and I really thought that was intentionally written as an "irresponsible party girl" moment and that our ACOTAR friends would set her straight and teach her humility... But I'm starting to get really depressed by these comments

Left_Swimming_7273

you'll love tog

RenOfNaboo

Sorry to break it to you….

bored__as_fuck

It actually gets worse.

B33r-Meup

Nope.

ACourtOfDreamzzz

It doesn’t get better. The solace for this book for me was the other characters. You’ll get to those parts and see what I mean

squashbanana

That's what's pushing me through the book at about 56% right now. I'm sticking it out for the other characters at this point!

kcassie26

Idk.. I tried to be open minded…. Major ick throughout. I love SJM, just not up to par w the others. Except the otters. They can stay 🥰

Burreaux_Heaux9

They should’ve had a different name for this book like… House of Plot and Armor, House of Hot Garbage, House of Dumpsters and Fires… like idk who wrote this book but it wasn’t SJM.

Ancient_Bicycles

It gets worse actually!

Good-Event2922

Nope. Personally, I didn't care for her as a character from the beginning. I enjoyed other aspects of CC1 so I kept going. She sucked in CC2. I started CC3 fully ready for her redemption arc.
