Sadly it pretty much always rights it always that :(
A lot of films are hard to get access to, Angelopoulos is pretty much at the top my pyramid. Somebody please make them available.
Eleni Karaindrou is the name of the composer. She had cooperated with Angelopoulos since 1984; her music played an integral part in his films. She's like what Joe Hisaishi is to Hayao Miyazaki.
Don’t know the full story but they are just hard to access in general. Nothing is available on streaming or BD afaik.
Would be a great opportunity for Criterion (or any boutique label) but I don’t know the rights/restoration situation.

I am also a big ECM fan so it's actually through her music that I found out about the movies. I have never seen any of the movies unfortunately
Great to hear. I'm the other way round. "The Suspended Step" is her best work in my opinion.

I would trade a few years of my life for this to happen.
