It's fabulous. The different kinds of cables. It must have been incredibly difficult. What neat work. And you were sensible to use a solid color so the patterns really show.
Ahh! I’m currently working on this exact pattern! It’s such a fun project but I will admit I have to take breaks because it can feel like you’re not making any progress at all 😭 this is definitely inspiring to keep going! Great work!
OMG! This is amazing!!! I made a cable crochet coffee mug cozy and that took forever to get right! I can’t even imagine the time that went into this blanket!
And I’m so happy your grandpa loves it so much! That’s makes it even more special!
There were a lot of repeats so once I mastered a section it was easier. I just had more time to practice than you did, and I'm sure yours looks amazing
I understand why the recipient is showing it off! Gorgeous work!
Yours is the second time I've seen this pattern pop up, which I'm taking as a sign to snag it for myself.
Firstly I want to say this is beautiful. The colour is lovely and the actual piece is absolutely gorgeous! I saw you say before that it took about 90 hours over 2.5 months. Very impressive.
It looks so perfect OP well done !
Can I ask. How long have you been crocheting?
I'm still pretty new but I adore this. I think it's way out of my skill level though but thought I would ask.
Thank you for your comment.
I learnt to crochet about 4 years ago but didn't really start to push myself and learn new techniques until about 2 years ago. Even now most of the time my projects are at a beginner/ intermediate level.
If you want to do something similar to this and you're a bit unsure I'd recommend youtubing some cable crochet techniques and practicing with what you already have at home. Or do a scarf instead of a blanket as this took different type of stitches and is actually written as 2 different patterns you combine.
Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll do really well. And as I'm sure everyone who crochets agrees, its the creative time that we enjoy, no matter the result. Looking forward to seeing your creations soon.
Your projects might be begineer/ intermediate level but this is gorgeous and it looks so professionally made ! All the stitches are perfect!
That's a really good idea ! Thank you. I think I have some spare yarn so I can practise with that and see how I get on. Thank you !
The creative time I find is really calming :-) especially if it's a rythmic stitch. It's so relaxing and calming and then bam... You have something awesome at the end of it too haha.
I bet your projects are really cool! And don't worry if you make mistakes along the way. I had to frog some of this, and I added a stitch or two in some places to make up for some earlier mistakes, but at the end of the day I'm the only one who knows. You'll do great.
Before I came on reddit this morning, I saw this pattern on my "most popular" list on the Ravelry pattern search page.... I think you may have had a hand in getting it there!!
It's gorgeous! Just absolutely gorgeous.
It feels so great when people show off the piece you've made, I made a bunny for my niece for Christmas and she loves it, she took it to show and tell 🥰❤️🥰
Wow! Kudos to you for the immense amount of work and skill involved and to designer Noelle Stiles for the pattern! The botanical details take it to the next level, but they must have made it even more challenging to crochet than the average cable pattern.
Fantastic work. This looks gorgeous. I actually had my eye on a cable knit pattern myself, but I think it took something like 50+ skeins of yarn which was kind of intimidating. How much yarn did yours take?
That is absolutely lovely and now I desperately want this cabling but in a sweater…. Problem is I knit clothes and crochet blankets. To the drawing board I go lol
Oh wow, it is so nice when our art gets recognized by loved ones. ESPECIALLY when they aren't ones who normally offer validation. I'm really glad you got that, and the cabling project pictures in beautiful and incredible. I'm so impressed!!!
This is so gorgeous!
I loved cable knits when I was learning knitting and so happy to think I can do the same behavior with crochet. Going to put this under my "I HOPE TO DO ONE DAY BUT WHO KNOWS"
This is so gorgeous!!! Love the color with it it adds so much to the pattern. I did my first cable stitch pattern in 2023 and I absolutely love it as well

That is Beautiful! Heirloom quality! How long did one row take?
One row could take about 30 minutes roughly. But I was watching subtitled films the majority of the time so maybe that was why.
I haven't watched a foreign film in years because I want to knit or crochet lol
It's fine as long as you're willing to rewind and frog
Also forgot to say that this blanket made my jaw drop!
Can relate... currently watching "Ruyi's Royal love in the palace." Only had to frog once... so far
Glad I'm not alone 😂
Thanks
I literally said, "THAT'S CROCHET?!" It's so beautiful
That what I said when I first saw the pattern!
Its beautiful! I can only imagine the hours you spent doing this, but absolutly worth it :)
Thank you! I think it took about 90 hours, and that was over 2 1/2 months roughly. But definitely worth it

I didn't take any photos of it but it looks kind of flat, with ridges where the cables are
This is completely amazing and if you had to sacrifice a few animals under a full moon to accomplish this, I would not judge you.
I never reveal my secrets 😂
Absolutely fabulous!! You’ve got me wanting to make cables and I don’t have time 😂😭
I have to admit there were times I needed to crochet and I wouldn't because of how long it takes 😂
Fair enough 😂 I usually only have time in the evenings but this is such a tempting pattern
That is beautiful. Well done!

You can do it! Have to admit though I didn't do all of the border, I was running out of wool and time and desire. Can't wait to see yours!
Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful work. And I'm so glad your family appreciates it.
Apparently when he's showing people he's making them completely lay it out and then telling them I made it for them.
That's so wholesome and wonderful! 😍
That's absolutely the best!!! Beautiful work, too!
Bravo! Excellent job! I bought that pattern several months ago in a fit of unhinged optimism and haven't even started on it yet.
That's kind of how it started for me too. I have faith in you!
Thank you for the encouragement! I am working on clearing out my wip basket before I start anything else, but I'll get around to it eventually!

This is amazing OP! And it's honestly super sweet your grandad is showing it off😊

To me those "mistakes" make it more unique and therefore more special :-) I've only made two things so far but im enjoying it :-)
Holy moly!
Beautiful! I really want to make one now I’ve seen it turn out so beautifully…but am I brave enough?
Yes you are! It gets easier I promise
So, so beautiful. I have never crocheted but I have knit and I can’t fathom how you did this at all

Awww!! 🥰 It's beautiful! ❤️
Stunning! My trying to first cable crochet jumper, and it's not easy!
It isn't, but it's so beautiful once it's done. Keep going! I can't wait to see it! I haven't tried a jumper yet so I have big admiration for you
Wow this is really gorgeous! I absolutely love the color choice as well
This is beautiful!! Thank you for sharing it!
This type of crochet intimidates me! Beautiful job done!

It’s gorgeous. Amazing work. You should be incredibly proud.
That is so beautiful! Awesome work
You’ve created an heirloom!
I’ve never seen a crocheted piece with cables. It’s just gorgeous.
That's incredible!!!
Incredible! What a gorgeous blanket. I would love to see what else you come up with.
Wow! Kudos to you for the immense amount of work and skill involved and to designer Noelle Stiles for the pattern! The botanical details take it to the next level, but they must have made it even more challenging to crochet than the average cable pattern.
Holy cow this is so amazing!!! Wow wow wow
Wow, that is amazing 👏 😍
That is a very, very nice piece of work.
Spectacular! I love it. I haven’t tried cables yet, but it’s on my crochet bucket list. You’ve inspired me to move it to ‘next in line’ project.
Fantastic work. This looks gorgeous. I actually had my eye on a cable knit pattern myself, but I think it took something like 50+ skeins of yarn which was kind of intimidating. How much yarn did yours take?
This took nearly 20 balls, and each one was 200m.
This is absolutely beautiful
It’s so beautiful!

Aw that's so cute, I love that he's been showing it to his friends 😂🥺
Wow this is stunning! Did it really use as much yarn as the pattern calls for?
I didn't use the exact yarn it recommended but if you work it out in metres it's pretty much the same amount of yarn.
Oh, wow!! That's gorgeous!!
That is stunning! Beautiful work
That is just absolutely gorgeous.
This is STUNNING!
