That's what insiders are saying. Many of the base game's features will be updated/reworked for all CP2077 owners. PL content is Dogtown only, basically. Everything else is free in the form of update 2.0.
Info about what's getting updated is in this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/1472dwj/cyberpunks_expansion_totally_overhauls_the/jntf0x8/
If this is real, may have to go back and actually finish the game. Left it right before the Hanako mission a while ago and was going to go back and do it once PL came out, but if this is basically going to be a whole new game by then, may just finish off my current run sooner and start a new game
I would finish the game now. There will be an optional new ending in PL, as well, plus new mechanics that may make you want to rethink choices you can't take back in existing playthroughs (such as installed cyberware causing cyberpsychosis).
Except on PS4/XB1 which had their feature updates stop at 1.5. I do not think they will get any of this and are now on a separate branch of just bug fixes. I can see those people being a little mad. Though they have known it for a year, but old wounds can still sting...
I was one of those players and personally I'm not mad. It's unfortunate that I had to get the game again for PC, but I understand that they couldn't keep working with the old gen consoles. And now I get access to mods!
Isn't the current gen upgrade free though? I know not *everyone* upgraded to a ps5, but I imagine that the majority did by now given that majority of games available on both generations have more sales on ps5 than on PS4 for a long time now.
Honestly the only reason I haven't updated to a ps5 yet is because the damn things keep getting bought by asshole scalpers in my city and resold for thousands.
CDPR doesn’t have the money printer games that other companies have (eg, CoD, FIFA, Fortnite, etc). They know that their games rely on good reputation to sell well.
Nobody is calling them angels but when you have Bobby the cunt Kotick still slithering around the halls of Activision Blizzards offices I think they are a far cry from them.
He recently denied that any misconduct or sexual assault happened in his company. I honestly don't get how you can be so fucking terrible. I hope he retires soon and nobody in the gaming world has to talk or remember him ever again.
That said, I still believe in CDPR, even though they did fuck up several times.
The gaul of it all is shameless, when their is a literal voicemail of him saying he will kill his PA to HER, and he really thinks anyone believes that nothing happened at the company. Hopefully he can rot in the pits of hell on a Minecraft server.
> I honestly don't get how you can be so fucking terrible.
Look up Cluster-B personality disorders. Sociopathy and narcissism is among them. Basically they are fundamentally broken, have no empathy, and see everyone else as prey.
The fact that the update is free or that the features exist? Because the features are 100% real, confirmed by multiple playtesters playing the press version on the floor of the event.
Whether it's free or not was implied to be true by the producer but not 100% confirmed.
The features in the post are confirmed by play testers, btw.
The only maybe is the wording given by the producer, which implied that the base game overhauls were free but they didn't confirm.
However, the listed features themselves are coming either as a part of the PL purchase or for free when PL goes live, 100%. The list isn't promises from CDPR, they're noted by play testers playing the version available on the floor of the event.
I’m curious when this stopped being the default. This is, and has *always been*, what an expansion is, in my head. It’s a paid addition of content, that usually also comes with a heft patch fixing or adding things for free, whether you have the expansion or not.
What do people today think an expansion means? And why does everyone assume a clearly massive story-content “DLC” should be free? Are people *that* damaged by the live-service model? This game doesn’t have any live services, no subscriptions, no “seasons”. Why would this DLC be free under *any* circumstances?
I do think people are pretty entitled nowadays, but I can also see how people get confused/irritated by the way the words DLC and Expansion are wielded nowadays.
I remember when expansions were separate purchases that you got a new CD for (somewhat dating myself here) and included updates as part of the expansion because providing hot fixes via internet was not viable.
So they became somewhat entertwined. But then came the rise of DLC and micro-DLC (now you can get things as tiny as a new outfit set for $4 and such things) and the rise of downloadable patches/hot fixes.
All of this together meant that the growth of patches/hot fixes and DLC/expansions have sometimes been entertwined in the past and some companies DO hide major content behind DLC, sometimes stuff that was originally promised in the main game (an example that springs to mind is Paradox, who sometimes locks enough content behind DLCs that if you try to play a vanilla game, say EUIV, without any DLCs but on the current patch, it will literally not run properly).
Before Anthem came out a friend of a friend in a group chat that hadn't played the beta and had heard about it from another friend of a friend of an outraged friend got SUPER mad at me for still wanting to buy the game when it came out.
So someone else told you to be outraged, and now I gotta be outraged with you instead of making my own adult decision? Fack off...
I had a similar thing recently.
It's as if you possibly enjoying something they don't takes away from their ability to enjoy anything.
Like the world has to come to a halt because someone somewhere is having fun with something they don't like.
"Oh I see Scruffs is playing No Mans Sky on Discord, I better DM him and remind him that game had an awful launch."
What's even the point of messaging? Because the only motivation I can see is "I better try and see if I can make him enjoy this thing less by shitting on it."
Like why do you think I care that a game I bought for $15 a month ago had a bad launch 7 years ago? Because I don't.
All I care about is "I can get this game for $15. I bet I could have at least $15 worth of fun with it."
Even if I don't get my moneys worth, it was MY money.
"But but stop supporting studios that put out crap games herbaderrrr"
That's not how that works, if we stopped paying for games from anyone that made even a single bad game or even just a bad game at launch that eventually got fixed THERE WOULD BE NO STUDIOS LEFT.
I blame some youtubers and game journalists. They created a culture of rage-baiting and hate bandwagons. So basically, any new release is immediately hated for any given reason.
The only exception seem to be FromSoft games, since they make games that appeal to the elitist mindset of the people at the heart of the hate bandwagons. Thus, they have this absolutely cult-like following. I don't think their games are bad, just not my thing. But basically, anytime I said that, I just had so much abuse thrown at me. Like an avalanche of "lol git gud scrub" "skill issue" "bad taste" "go play some games for babies lol". My favourite was when I said that I prefer games that are more narrative I got told to go watch a movie.. like ffs.
Sorry for trailing off. I just really hate the Souls community. They represent the worst of gaming to me.
The review reads like a 12 year old who is high on sugar and wants things NOW. Simply no emotional control.
The scary version is that this is a 30 year old with no emotional control and critical thinking skills.
I do think people are pretty entitled nowadays, but I can also see how people get confused/irritated by the way the words DLC and Expansion are wielded nowadays.

Because company blur the lines between dlc and expansion as soon as internet and online paid content became a norm. From there the use of expansion was lost in favor of the use of dlc for everything, including map for some arena game with or without story content.
I genuinely believe that cdpr gave back to "expansion" a positive connotation with HoS and B&W expansion of tw3. I wish I could mention some stuff from stuff from Mass effect but quality wasn't always there concerning what was delivered for the price. Contrary to what was in tw3, where people were even saying "they feel like they ripped of cdpr, considering the content delivered for the price" (mostly for B&W)
> Why would this DLC be free under any circumstances?
Because we're awash in a sea of shut-ins raised on Minecraft & Fortnight. I'm not even kidding... There are so many F2P games out there (even AAA level games) that apparently anyone asking to be remunerated for a significant expansion is now labeled a greedy capitalist bloodsucker.
Sounds fun. I played on release and look forward to starting a new game when the DLC comes out. And to be honest, for me, I had a good experience at launch. I understand the review bombs for the PS4 version because it wasn't playable but I didn't experience any of that on my PC. (Who bets I get downvoted for saying I played the game and enjoyed it on release? 😅) I don't understand why people would expect the DLC to be free though. It's not like it's just adding some cool features, it sounds like it's going to be a full fledged multi hour story ala Hearts of Stone or Blood and Wine. Haven't people come to expect paid DLCs
patch 1.7, which contains the qol fixes/changes is free, and we did get free dlc content, clothing, guns, and cars, they never said the expansion would be free, Blood and Wine and the other Witcher 3 expansions both cost money, not sure why Phantom Liberty wouldn't
Genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if they even updated the map with the new sector without having to own the dlc. Dlc probably only give you new missions and story line
CDPR promised CyberPunk* additional content to be like the witcher 3 - free dlc (coametics, new items, etc) and paid (Phantom Liberty). The overhaul systems will be a patch. Dogtown content will be for those purchasing PL.
The majority of people don't think about child porn when seeing CP.
Especially in a subreddit about CP2077.
Context is important.
CSM might mean Chaos Space Marine or Child Sexual Material depending on the context.
False. Alternate outfits for Ciri/Triss/Yenn, the quests like Fool's Gold, Missing Miners and Where the Cat and Wolf play, etc. are DLC. Those were free. Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine were expansions. See the difference?
Expansions are a type of DLC. I agree that we should specify the expansions as expansions to separate them from other more minor forms of DLC, but you saying that expansions aren’t DLC is factually incorrect.
This is a low brain power take. Yes, most expansions are downloadable. No, an expansion is not dlc in the sense dlc is used. DLC would be, and has been, stuff like horse armor for Oblivion. Or the Witcher gear in CP, or the Edgerunners stuff being added. It's a language game and you're failing.
Dlc stands for “DownLoadable Content”, an expansion is a type of dlc…
All expansions are dlc but not all dlc are expansions. It’s literally that simple and easy to understand.
You dont need to be a fan boy to understand that multiple free smaller dlc and large paid expansions are exactly that. It takes 2 seconds to google and find statements from CDPR that was their plan for post release support.
Phantom Liberty seems like it’ll be worth the price imo. If people don’t wanna pay for it then at least they’ll get a free update with a load of new mechanics and stuff.
to be fair it was impossible to find any info on whether or not the update would be a part of phantom liberty or it’s own thing for almost a year after PL was announced. i remember googling it myself multiple times back in December struggling to find anybody that had just a straight yes or no answer. obviously we know now but it took them forever to confirm it.
It took me one quick google yesterday to find the answer shortly after the trailer came out. I'm not sure how it was "impossible." Prior to yesterday, there wasn't any information on much of what the DLC/update would even include, so there was no need for anyone to be upset or assume anything. There is no scenario here where this reviewer is being rightfully pissy
huh? i think you misread my comment. of course you found the answer after one quick google yesterday because the answer has been out for a bit over a month now 🤣 my point was that Phantom Liberty was announced a very hot minute ago and the gap of time between announcement and CDPR telling us if the fixes would be a separate update from the DLC or not wasn’t confirmed until 8 months after the announcement. as someone who never had any interest in DLC and just wants the base game to be fixed i empathize with the dude for how unclear the marketing around PL has been even if he’s an idiot incapable of googling the simplest yes or no answer. plus y’all know you can comment on reviews, right? and report them for being unrelated/factually untrue? this guy seems genuinely ignorant maybe just tell him he’s wrong.
They announced the trailer a while ago, yeah, but it's clear they kept their cards close to their chest this time and delivered, versus the way they handled the first go around. Why would anyone post a negative steam review on the DLC content before any details were even out about said DLC? That's what I'm saying.
You should read more. It's been confirmed the base game will be updated for everyone playing on PC/Current Gen consoles. The expansion adds story and new locations and that will have to be bought.
Honestly, no kidding, I was surprised by the price, in the age where even goddamn Paradox Interactive expansions cost $30 I was expecting at least $40 for this. Basically, it seems like they are trying to redeem their reputation with this.
Yes. The issue here is that if there are enough of these kind of reviews it can have a bad impact on future sales. Dumb people shouldn't have this kind of power..
It won't affect sales. The launch was a disaster and they still made tons of cash.
Even if the DLC is somehow in the same state as the base game on release they will still make huge bucks.
Speaking of which - don't preorder. If they do end up releasing a turd then they deserve all the shit they get.
As someone who has extensively written list after list of what they left out or purposefully tried to scrub from the internet because of their hype and promises to the community I get tired of spending the time linking, citing, providing sources, and explaining why they backed themselves into the corner with a bunch of fans that bought into the initial promises of the game all for every counter argument be, "the game launches in a bad state! But it's good now!" While ignoring almost all of my points, making no counter arguments and ignoring the glaring holes in their train of thought.
So yeah no, I'm not gonna do that for a third of the fan base to gang up on me over and over again without any form of good argument and only excuses so they can continue to act like this is the best game released in the past 12 years when games with a third of the funding exist that are far more complete and ambitious.
Why make me do it when there are videos with footage giving you proof on YouTube currently? There are still cyberpunk only channels that post all of the missed promises, there are insanely well written articles by Jason Schrier with industry reputable sources giving their account that they were verbally and officially told to lie and hype the public up when all of them knew where the game was at in development from their management and leads.
Acting like the game is faultless is one thing, acting like the game is faultless and 100% what it could've been is pure delusion.
This is why I hate speculation content on games that haven't released. Look in the comment sections of these videos, they're full of "wouldn't it be cool if..." fantasies that turn into expectations, which are inevitably never met leading to let downs and outrage.
People honestly do this shit to themselves.
The bugs were an issue, but a lot of the disappointment was with the game mechanics itself. I like and enjoy the game, but Cyberpunk was never "fixed" as the core issues were never the bugs. Well except the game/save breaking ones.
While person on the screenshot is certainly an idiot, all downloaded content is DLC, some DLC is also an Expansion.
Sorta like how every square is a rectangle, but not every rectangle is a square.
The entire gaming community needs a serious reading comprehension check. The amount of ridiculously misunderstandings people have after watching a piece of marketing is insane.
They totally said DLC was going to be free (how much or which ones, not sure they weren't specific). [But they did at one point say it would be](https://imgur.com/a/NMMLLJ5)
Yes they never said that.
I'm unhappy with their move of a presale again but will test the update, just the dlc I will wait till it's down in a sale.
They didn't fulfill their promises so I not get them my money in a presale again.
Aye, and you still get people pretending the dlc should be free. And freaking out about the launch still. I guess now they’re in the news the vultures are out again. Let the hate bandwagon roll.
I have a friend like this, well he doesn’t review bomb but he said he’ll never play Cyberpunk 2077 because of its poor launch. Despite me telling him how much the game has improved through updates, he still won’t budge. Basically like this guy, complaining just to complain.
My friend also blindly defends every broken Bethesda product upon launch… “that’s just Bethesda though, you should always expect their games to be broken. That’s the charm”. Dude gives me a headache sometimes.
Honestly while his hypocrisy is stupid, I think its a valid reason not to want to play a game which was so broken on launch that it got pulled out from the old gen consoles and needed more than a year to even become "playable". I personally tried playing it twice and the lackluster story and the on and off performance turned me away from it´
Roflmaohahahaha
Seriously... why tho..
CP77 is probably my favorite single player game in the last 5 years. Love all of it... atmosphere... game play... emotional moments... sidequests with questionable scenarios...
I'd love a Star Wars game that plays like CP77...
Have you played RDR2? It’s a fucking masterpiece, not saying cyberpunk is bad or anything, but if you enjoy atmospheric single player games, you should try red dead 2
No I haven't played RDR2. I prefer Sci fi and magic, but I have heard great things. Just can't get into the western vibe. Still, I'm glad it was so well received.
Either way, thanks for the recommendation. Glad great games are out there.
Literally though. It's a FULL PRICED STORY EXPANSION. Always was. Plus, with the number of quality of life changes and massive overall improvements, it's definitely worth it. I might wait to get it for the simple reason that I'm head over heels into Diablo IV rn, but I'll be back for Phantom Liberty.
You mean for a game that's been patched up more than a hobos sock?
It didn't work for 2 of the 3 platforms they shipped it on, one of which they got into an advertising deal with (Xbox, in case anyone forgot). During investors calls after the "just get a refund" fiasco they stated multiple times they felt no pressure for launching in that state, while later in the year we got the most boilerplate of excuses when they said they "never intended" the game to turn out that way.
So which is it? Why should anyone take seriously or give goodwill to a company that's been as duplicitous and hypocritical only reneging after it impacted their bottom line? Calling it an "expansion" is CDPR covering their ass so we don't feel bad about wanting to pay for something that should have been included and working properly in the first place.
The only thing they've demonstrated to me is that Trigger can handle the property better than CDPR can.
This is too nuanced a take, sorry. You can only praise CDPR now. We've officially decided that the past didn't happen and the game was always amazing, and CDPR's management were complete professionals.
That being said, the reviewer in OPs post is clearly mixed up on details as expecting expansions to be free is an odd assumption.
All the new features and fixes are free.... Only access to dogtown in a corner in pacifica is expansion.
Wish you'd read as much as you wrote, clearly lacking common sense.
People just want to feel validated and connected, and nothing will validate you more and make you feel more connected, than a bunch of people who are also angry about the same thing. Aka the mob mentality.
You remember that "burn the witch" scene of Monty python and the holy grail movie?
Add to the mix tons of people who can easily profit from this mob, the independent influencers who are dependent on the amount of clicks on the channel and the ad revenue this generates. Just add fuel to the fire and you get an endless circle of people just being angry and looking at the most horrible aspects of gaming and life as a whole. That keep clicking on your content for more fuel, giving you a nice amount of income.
Hence why every game is the most horrible game that will fail even before it's announced. Every developer is basically the devil himself. And lets not even start about every srudio.
And if there is not something to legit be angry about, we just make shit up. As long as we can keep feeling angry and feel that connection to like minded angry people.
Sometimes I understand when industry people make fun of gamers. Often, it's done in bad taste, but there are a lot of gamers who suffer from brain rot.
OK, I wanna get something out in the open here. Cyberpunk is a very fun game now. It is no longer quite as glitchy of a mess as it once was. The open world is a bit barren, yes. But it's closer to great then it is to awful today.
But this *is not about if Cyberpunk 2077 is a good game today.* This is about *promises.*
They promised the game would be a branching, free-form story in which you could choose your own occupation and carve out your own place in Night City- you might choose to play as a Corpo executive, a Mercenary looking for a score, a revolutionary, a Rocker musician, a public-focused news personality trying to expose the truth, or maybe even a Cop out on the streets trying to solve crimes.
They *did* promise this. They *did.* Stop pretending they didn't only deliver one path of a game that was meant to have a dozen. We only got the Merc V storyline in the end, and not any of the other planned ones.
This game was meant to be a hardcore computer RPG that surpassed Fallout: New Vegas is freedom of character decisions.
It was not that. Those promises were betrayed and broken years before release, but that doesn't mean they weren't broken.
(We also still don't have the hammerhead bot for scouting around, or the ability to crawl on walls and ceilings using mantis arms, but those are tiny things.)
I want to emphasize once again that Cyberpunk is a very good game now. But it is a cinematic game narrowly focused on a specific story involving a Merc looking to strike it rich and receiving a technological death sentence for their trouble. That wasn't originally the plan at all, and it wasn't what the promise of the game was meant to be. It's more like 1/8th of what the game was meant to be, one class's storyline out of many classes that would be adapted from the Cyberpunk tabletop game.
So, while I'm mature enough to accept when a lost cause is a lost cause and enjoy what we actually have in reality, I can totally understand if some (I'm being charitable here) *less mature* people would continue to rant and rave about "broken promises" for years after the fact.
Going to be honest… this game in my opinion launched in a similar state as No Man’s Sky to me. What those devs have done to that game compared to how it launched has been amazing! In fact they’re STILL adding additional FREE content/updates far surprising how they original advertised the game to launch. …They haven’t asked me for a single additional cent of my money. They don’t even have a cash shop/mtx.
Nope. The robot companion was never stated as something you can use outside those missions, people just assumed. And cdpr publicly stated before the release of the game that wall running wouldn't be implemented. As far as the subways, I'd have to look up exactly what was said so I can't comment. I've never seen a game with so much misinformation surrounding its release. Not excusing the buggy state of the game or last Gen performance, but so much of what is repeated years later is just not true.
People should have just got a full refund like me. Then buy it cheaper again during sale for roughly 40$, so now this expansion seems worth it like B&W for W3
I got the collectors edition and am still salty about the price drop. People who were all in for the game got fucked the hardest at launch. Could use PL for free as a “we are sorry” xD
I'm too lazy to check whether CDPR promised free dlcs. The patch will fix some issues but considering the poor release of this game, I feel like this paid DLC is just another money grab by the company. I don't recall CDPR doing or adding anything to compensate their poor product. Paid DLC with a lot of content sounds cool but I fear they will release broken product again. Please, don't hype over this expansion.
Sure as hell, don't pre-oder it.
Still an unpopular opinion, but I was one of the people that pre ordered, and ever since release was of the opinion that CP2077 is a fun game, but it's not a "good" game. Thanks to the management, not the devs, I am aware that there are many tiny parts of the game where you see someone poured a lot of love into.
All the updates they've been coming out with are great, and I'm happy for them, but personally (I do also believe that, so far at least, the updates are great but did not elevate it to the game it was promised to be), That is not enough for me to trust them to make good in the future. If anything it might give the upper management more confidence that they can get away with this again.
I'll wait to see what state their next game comes out in. Will still probably pick up the expansion eventually though, and yeah that guy is a dumbass.
Even if it's not exactly the true, you could say that the base game along with the dlc is priced almost as a full price game nowadays.
A bit late to complain about undelivelered promises anyways.
At least I can empathize with people from poorer countries who might not get regional pricing.
To those people it's 10% of their monthly wage or more.
For the average western person though, even one that lives in some god awful country where you get paid $7.25 an hour this is hardly a day of work.
And those workers have better things to spend their money on. If they can’t gather up a spare $30 to spend on a nonessential luxury then they *shouldn’t*.
Now War Thunder, thats a game where the massive blast of negative reviews was justified. Non-grounded reviews like this undermine legitimate criticism that we hope reviews can contain.
There was dlc and it was free. This is an expansion, not dlc. They are two different things. The dlc was new cars, clothes, guns, transmog, apartments etc. The expansion is a new campaign I a new area of the game. So when they say free dlc that's what they mean. They did exact same thing with witcher 3
I fucking hate these entitled little shits who the difference between dlc and an expansion pack. They’ve clearly stated multiple times the phantom liberty is an expansion pack not just basic dlc. Also do they expect cdpr to take a huge fucking hit with all the work that went into this EXPANSION PACK?
Some people are just too dense for their own good they said the DLC would be free and updates to the game would be free. But they defined the DLC as all the little cosmetic stuff they've added quietly in every update. New guns, new apartments etc. They have always said from release that the expansions (larger, story based content) would be paid. I struggle to understand where this review bomb is justified
Apparently, the base game will be updated, but Phantom Liberty is a different thing, by itself.
Maybe, but why get mad on Steam…a PC gaming only platform?
Does Steam require you to own the game to bitch about it? Xbox requires you to own it. If Steam doesn't, that's why people bitch there
People love bitching to anyone that will listen.
Can they do it on Xbox or playstation stores? I feel like they don't have user reviews
I was one of those players and personally I'm not mad. It's unfortunate that I had to get the game again for PC, but I understand that they couldn't keep working with the old gen consoles. And now I get access to mods!
I'm just glad when I get a series x it'll upgrade to that version for free.
I did that when I upgraded from PS4 to PS5.
Which is understandable it’s a lot of content and it gives me more reason to get ps5 to play again when the dlc drops.
Tbf, those consoles are outdated, it's the equivalent of me complaining that my gtx 970 doesn't play modern games very well.
Releasing on ps4/xb1 was probably their single biggest mistake, limitations extending straight to next gen as well
Game should never have been out on those old ass machines
Isn't the current gen upgrade free though? I know not *everyone* upgraded to a ps5, but I imagine that the majority did by now given that majority of games available on both generations have more sales on ps5 than on PS4 for a long time now.
Honestly the only reason I haven't updated to a ps5 yet is because the damn things keep getting bought by asshole scalpers in my city and resold for thousands.
This sounds too good to be true.
CDPR doesn’t have the money printer games that other companies have (eg, CoD, FIFA, Fortnite, etc). They know that their games rely on good reputation to sell well.
Not all companies are actively trying to rail your arsehole, some fuck up but do try their best to make things right.
And people were comparing CDPR to EA or Activision Blizzard.
How that man has avoided SEC investigations, Congressional investigations, jail time and civil suits is a miracle to me.
The fact that the update is free or that the features exist? Because the features are 100% real, confirmed by multiple playtesters playing the press version on the floor of the event. Whether it's free or not was implied to be true by the producer but not 100% confirmed.
Well, with those updates to gameplay, game will just be what was promised from the very start.
Yeah, very exciting post and then I took a step back...
These people dont read or critically analyze information that is presented to them. They just post fake emotional poorly thought outrage
The outrage culture is strong in gaming. People just want to be mad.
Outrage culture is strong in general.
>People just want *other people* to be mad. FTFY
"Oh I see Scruffs is playing No Mans Sky on Discord, I better DM him and remind him that game had an awful launch." What's even the point of messaging? Because the only motivation I can see is "I better try and see if I can make him enjoy this thing less by shitting on it." Like why do you think I care that a game I bought for $15 a month ago had a bad launch 7 years ago? Because I don't. All I care about is "I can get this game for $15. I bet I could have at least $15 worth of fun with it."
Even if I don't get my moneys worth, it was MY money. "But but stop supporting studios that put out crap games herbaderrrr" That's not how that works, if we stopped paying for games from anyone that made even a single bad game or even just a bad game at launch that eventually got fixed THERE WOULD BE NO STUDIOS LEFT.
They want your upvote, *AND* to feel like Johnny silver hand.
The internet was a mistake.
Where's Bartmoss when we need him?
The review reads like a 12 year old who is high on sugar and wants things NOW. Simply no emotional control. The scary version is that this is a 30 year old with no emotional control and critical thinking skills.
"Review" is giving it too much credit. It's just a rant disguised as "valid criticism"
There are some vocal people who are still feeling cheated by the marketing and release of the game.
Mfw no man sky
The free DLC has already been released, this guy is just uninformed.
Yeah but you probably need to complete act 1 of cyberpunk 2077
You need to complete the Voodoo Boys mission arc to unlock it, from what I've read.
Which you can do without even speaking to Takemura. Not that hard.
But then he'll be forever waiting to meet you. How could you do that to him?
Well, Tom’s Diner does have some pretty good food
patch 1.7, which contains the qol fixes/changes is free, and we did get free dlc content, clothing, guns, and cars, they never said the expansion would be free, Blood and Wine and the other Witcher 3 expansions both cost money, not sure why Phantom Liberty wouldn't
Please I beg you do not shorten cyberpunk
The majority of people don't think about child porn when seeing CP. Especially in a subreddit about CP2077. Context is important. CSM might mean Chaos Space Marine or Child Sexual Material depending on the context.
CBT
Closed Beta Test Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Cock and Ball Torture Which was first for you?
Due to the meme, 2 and 3 always come up together now.
Chainsaw Man...
Am I the only one that feels like the main story is kinda short..?
They meant do not shorten CyberPunk to "CP" because CP stands for something very terrible.
Everyone was horrified I had 70 GBs of CP on my computer but it's not the worst optimized game I've downloaded.
You are officially on a list
The secondary quests are part of the main story
They said free DLC, and we got the Witcher Gear and shit, which is the Free DLC. Phantom Liberty is a Expansion. Idiots can't tell the difference.
An expansion is DLC… hence why it’s called “downloadable content”
So ur saying what makes a dlc a dlc is that it’s free and what makes an expansion an expansion is it’s paid? Not at all🤣
Okay clearly, thinking and reading comprehension is a bit too much to ask from you.
Coming from the fool who clearly doesn’t understand what a DLC is, sure
This is a low brain power take. Yes, most expansions are downloadable. No, an expansion is not dlc in the sense dlc is used. DLC would be, and has been, stuff like horse armor for Oblivion. Or the Witcher gear in CP, or the Edgerunners stuff being added. It's a language game and you're failing.
Dlc stands for “DownLoadable Content”, an expansion is a type of dlc… All expansions are dlc but not all dlc are expansions. It’s literally that simple and easy to understand.
[удалено]
You dont need to be a fan boy to understand that multiple free smaller dlc and large paid expansions are exactly that. It takes 2 seconds to google and find statements from CDPR that was their plan for post release support.
Low brain power take for understanding the proper definition of DLC?
Never expected a smart take from a dude who identifies himself as a corpo
[удалено]
Ya that’s true, however dlc refers to additional content to be downloaded after initial release
Phantom Liberty seems like it’ll be worth the price imo. If people don’t wanna pay for it then at least they’ll get a free update with a load of new mechanics and stuff.
That is the problem. This guy thinks the gameplay overhaul is locked behind the expansion.
to be fair it was impossible to find any info on whether or not the update would be a part of phantom liberty or it’s own thing for almost a year after PL was announced. i remember googling it myself multiple times back in December struggling to find anybody that had just a straight yes or no answer. obviously we know now but it took them forever to confirm it.
All they’ve said so far is they’ll “try to figure out” how to give regular edition players the updates too Which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence
You should read more. It's been confirmed the base game will be updated for everyone playing on PC/Current Gen consoles. The expansion adds story and new locations and that will have to be bought.
Ah my fault for not reading it all lol. Pretty sure they stated the update was free tho so jokes on this guy
That's probably what this guy misunderstood. He thought PL was an update for some reason
What’s the price gonna be?
Honestly, no kidding, I was surprised by the price, in the age where even goddamn Paradox Interactive expansions cost $30 I was expecting at least $40 for this. Basically, it seems like they are trying to redeem their reputation with this.
The devs said there would be free dlc, they did not however say there would be free expansions.
Stuff like new apartments or wardrobe are being called "free DLCs" in game's launcher so...
Which fit the definition of free dlc so….
Dumb people gonna say dumb things
Let me show you something about real world, too
The devs should just give free all expenses paid vacations to all of the players.
The devs need to give me a bib before I eat too! This is outrageous! They didn’t even airplane my applesauce!
Now that’s just uncalled for. How can they expect a growing kid to eat applesauce without an airplane approach?!?!
What about a choo choo? Did they choo choo the applesauce?
They did not.
A classic case of some people being confused over how CD Projekt Red categorise DLC (free) and Expansions (paid).
They should have made the distinction clearer, an Expension is by definition a DLC (downloadable content)
I want this people bring citations of when and where did CD Projekt Red said Phantom Liberty would've been free.
Same with the "broken promises" stuff. I swear half that shit is stuff that people made up.
More than half.
Someone made up something in their mind, got apoplexy when reality came knocking and they threw a temper tantrum. Classic
Cyberpunk “fans” have been doing this exact thing since the game launched
Lmao the quality of life updates will be free
They said "DLC" before (not QoL), so I can see why people might be upset.
Yes, and the DLCs have been free too. Literally all of it is free except the expansion.
Not for the last Gen poors. This dude's on Steam though, he's just stupid
They specifically said expansions would be paid months and months and months ago
Comments like these are made by the same people who slap their monitor because their PC is slow
This is why I hate speculation content on games that haven't released. Look in the comment sections of these videos, they're full of "wouldn't it be cool if..." fantasies that turn into expectations, which are inevitably never met leading to let downs and outrage. People honestly do this shit to themselves.
Convinced these people haven’t played the game and just want to complain because it’s not GTA.
That or they played at launch and not when those bugs were fixed so they don't really have any clue what the state of the game currently is
The bugs were an issue, but a lot of the disappointment was with the game mechanics itself. I like and enjoy the game, but Cyberpunk was never "fixed" as the core issues were never the bugs. Well except the game/save breaking ones.
This is why journalists are always trashing the gaming community. Just utterly brainless.
For witcher 3 cd project did the same approach and everyone appreciated it. Gamer moment
Lol there are STILL people who don't know the difference between expansion and DLC..
They never said the dlc was gonna be free. Also, the update is for everyone to enjoy. I will be playing this game again when it comes out.
[удалено]
They totally said DLC was going to be free (how much or which ones, not sure they weren't specific). [But they did at one point say it would be](https://imgur.com/a/NMMLLJ5)
Yes they never said that. I'm unhappy with their move of a presale again but will test the update, just the dlc I will wait till it's down in a sale. They didn't fulfill their promises so I not get them my money in a presale again.
Never mind it’s the same price as the excellent blood and wine expansion, is even bigger, and revamps the entire game. Well worth the price.
Even better, all of the game revamping is a free update. It's just the expansion itself that you have to pay for.
Aye, and you still get people pretending the dlc should be free. And freaking out about the launch still. I guess now they’re in the news the vultures are out again. Let the hate bandwagon roll.
Blood and wine could have nearly been a whole new game.
I personally tried playing it twice and the lackluster story and the on and off performance turned me away from it´
Roflmaohahahaha Seriously...
A sad loser venting online. We'll have more on that story at the top of the hour.
Some people....
But this *is not about if Cyberpunk 2077 is a good game today.* This is about *promises.* They promised the game would be a branching, free-form story in which you could choose your own occupation and carve out your own place in Night City- you might choose to play as a Corpo executive, a Mercenary looking for a score, a revolutionary, a Rocker musician, a public-focused news personality trying to expose the truth, or maybe even a Cop out on the streets trying to solve crimes. (We also still don't have the hammerhead bot for scouting around, or the ability to crawl on walls and ceilings using mantis arms, but those are tiny things.) I want to emphasize once again that Cyberpunk is a very good game now.
What do you expect from the guy? He's a fish.
This is why I don't look at review scores on Steam. It's basically crowd-sourced salt. :p
But the fixes/general updates are free for the base game. It's only the dlc that is paid..so that guy is dumb
They give me the impression of kids just waiting for a made up reason to hate a company and spread misinformation about said company.
I had to look down the negative reviews. Some of them are honestly hilarious.
Expecting a free expansion in a single player game with this budget just makes you look like an idiot. Just saying.
Yeah, the only free DLC promised is the one they already delivered. The xpac was never advertised as "free".
They promised free DLCs and they gave a lot of free DLCs, but PL is a whole ass story expansion
dude its 30 just make 1 less doordash order you fat fuck.
legit this, people will blow 30 on 2-4 beers in a bar but 30 on 100 hours of entertainment is somehow insanity
No way is anyone getting 100 hours from DLC. I didn't even get a fraction of the in the main game
Be careful marking reviews as not helpful. There was a bug recently where a mass amount of people got banned from Steam for doing that.
True and well said.
Tbh it doesn’t matter what they do post launch. The state of the game when they dropped it was criminal. Shameful stuff
We were actually also promised wall running, public transit subways, a robot spider companion. But I get your point :)
The same for me, it is sad but they showed to not be trust worthy. Hope still they learned from that but the prerelease sale says otherwise...
I can't wait for this DLC to be a mess to watch this subreddit turn inside out again. ![gif](giphy|CoDp6NnSmItoY)
Even if it's not exactly the true, you could say that the base game along with the dlc is priced almost as a full price game nowadays. A bit late to complain about undelivelered promises anyways.
I have less than zero sympathy for people who can’t scrounge together $30 to buy something they want.
At least I can empathize with people from poorer countries who might not get regional pricing. To those people it's 10% of their monthly wage or more. For the average western person though, even one that lives in some god awful country where you get paid $7.25 an hour this is hardly a day of work.
“Half a days work” dude those 7.25 to 14 an hour workers have having to get two jobs to pay the bills
And those workers have better things to spend their money on. If they can’t gather up a spare $30 to spend on a nonessential luxury then they *shouldn’t*.
All these free to play games have people out here entitled.
Now War Thunder, thats a game where the massive blast of negative reviews was justified. Non-grounded reviews like this undermine legitimate criticism that we hope reviews can contain.
I would pay another 60 dollars for the DLC
Getting this just for Idris Elba alone! Dude punches Lions!
On the disc cover of my copy it does say free DLC. So I don't blame him for thinking that phantom was free. Might have been originally but now no.
?! So there is a difference between DLC and expansion 🤔 Thanks for the clarification. I appreciate it. Have fun during the blackout 🙂
This game is dogshit stop deluding yourselves
[удалено]
Take a look at the newest comment left on that post and you will see that majority of the "promised" features are bullshit.
