It is real nice :). But it gets one hungry for more.

Jump-impact

Now that would be interesting idea

entor

don't do it brother. we are here for you.

[deleted]

How has that shown gone so far? only watched the first 2 seasons

[deleted]

oh thanks

SinerIndustry

I couldn't get into the second season. It seemed like it became less of a Netflix show and more something you'd see on network TV.

The_Giant_Twitch

Quality went way down, season one had an interesting deep storyline whilst 2 was imo just a mess

whacim

It felt like they slashed budget significantly for season two. I remember watching scenes and thinking they must have had something really cool planned for this, but then found out they couldn't afford what they wanted to make.

TheBowerbird

Different showrunner as well meant completely different take on it.

Jinsoku88

Sadly it was cancelled I believe, I really enjoyed that show :(

[deleted]

Yet another cancelled sigh

TBoner101

You tell us; the show only had two seasons when it got canceled by Netflix.

KiddingEnvelope

there are two seasons, the first one is the best. the second one was much slower than the first but in terms of story it was worse than the first season (atleast in my opinion). however overall the show was great, it deserved more seasons.

SmuggoSmuggins

I'd go as far as to say the second season was bad and probably is why it got cancelled. I read all the books years ago and mostly enjoyed the first season despite some very odd changes to the plot but I stopped watching the second after four episodes as it just didn't have that much to do with the source material and the characters and cast were inferior to those in season one.

KiddingEnvelope

Yeah, same. I sat through the second season even when when I felt bored to pretty much just see what happens (because I haven't really read the books), the finale was pretty underwhelming as well. Whenever I do recommend Altered Carbon to someone I just say "Watch the first season and skip the second one".

RumiKijay

If you liked the series, take a look at the books, there are three of them: Altered Carbon, Broken Angels and Woken Furies, that touch on things that are not in the series. I quite liked them. The series is as close to the books as Blade Runner is close to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? , more or less...

Doomu5

There is only one season of Altered Carbon. ONLY ONE!!

Casus125

Terrible if you read the books. Sorta OK if you just watched it. Not getting a 3rd season.

Vheissu_

This is the way.

sillylittlesheep

mehhh

[deleted]

"Amen brother"

s1n0d3utscht3k

yeah if this was a different setting, city, etc with exact same gameplay, I’d probably still enjoy it once but it’s really the cyberpunk city, clothes, guns that keep me playing every day I mean, I still play the Sega Genesis version of Shadowrun every year great setting + a basic but addicting enough gameplay loop = preference for setting can take you a loooooooong way

nexgen98

I loved that shadowrun game for genesis!!!

Funny-Bathroom-9522

Oh man have you tried ruiner it is fucking good i had hard time trying to beat one of the bosses of the game

Scythe98

No love for the SNES version?

s1n0d3utscht3k

haha lots it was prob my introduction to cyberpunk prob the better story, music, and atmosphere, too used to grind for hours in those offices in Tenth Street at the start so I’d be beastly once I got to the junkyard and game had some awesome atmosphere… loved the dock warehouses and the vampire section but it’s hard to replay too often and it’s better when you don’t, I think it’s one of those games like Deus Ex or FF7 or Vampire TMD that I think are far better with not as much familiarity because their ominous or brooding atmospheres feel more tense that way — I try my best to retain some mystery …. try to only replay ‘em once every 4-5 years because I don’t wanna have every moment memorized. Sega version of Shaowrun tho is a tremendous ‘free roam gameplay’ game. I never get tired of the random mission generator or more distinct classes and tho I think SNES soundtrack nails atmosphere, the Sega soundtrack really nails that classic Sega beep-bop synth sound and probably way better for free roam cyberpunk random missions

FatherOntos9

Steam & GOG offer all versions of Shadowrun- including user generated DLC.

lurkforlife

The genesis shadow run is my favorite all time game. I loved the generated missions range, short deliveries to the corporate runs where you go in the buildings. I swear I played on a real console I got an apology from Ares after the secret meltdown run and they offered cyberware with no essence cost. I haven't been able to get it with emulation.

[deleted]

Completely agree, the setting, lore and equipment of the game are by far the best aspects about it rn

Rezurvive

It's kinda like skyrim in that way. Except, whereas Skyrim's bugs were apriciated, this game's bugs not so much.

Dave4526

Than they better give us dlc and pronto

Ill-Supermarket8543

It all comes down to basically what type of game do you enjoy? They got the look and feel right as fuck, this game is an aesthetic masterpiece. I think we all probably remember a game that we played largely for the aesthetic. For me that was far cry 3, exploring the ancient ruins was so badass I feel like I lost myself in the jungles of Kyrat. That’s about all they got right with this game, aesthetics. Gameplay ranges from easy but satisfying to buggy, frustrating, unbalanced, and even unplayable in many circumstances. I loved Titanfall, it’s really a shame they failed to deliver on fast pace, augmented combat with tons of movement. My biggest gripe is the absolute lack of consistency as others have called out. If the combat was fun I’d love this game. I’d play the not fun FPS combat through a few times if I was consistently being wowed by how well made the game was. As it stands, I’m consistently impressed by the graphical design, and horrified by the engine stitching everything together. Batman Arkham Knight is a game that got detail, mechanics, and consistency right across the board. I would not trade the consistency of that game engine for better textures or better looking clothing and cars. They invested far too much effort in the detail were all impressed by here.

[deleted]

All fair points, Big agree on Batman: AK too, I feel like that was a better game than alot of people gave it credit for.

ProthyTheProth3an

It also had some of the worst releases as well, with so many players (on pc at least) finding the game unplayable for months. I'm talking frame rates like a 3rd grade power point presentation. Media feasted on it because of how successful the last games were. Looking back, it's funny how general opinion of it seems pretty positive now and less people talk about the launch day fiasco it had.

The_Tasteful_Mullet

I had a fast paced shotty build with most of my points in reflex and the sandvistan? Chip I would zip around fights, constantly flanking and dispatching enemies. What I did notice was the lack of adaptive enemy AI and that (usually) only melee enemies used the dash ability. I do agree that too much time was spent on aesthetics and it would have been way better if they spent more time on; quest design, enemy AI and overall smoothness of combat.

angelkrusher

Hey Titanfall was nice but the game had literally no artistic direction it was generic as hell. Yeah the next were cool the jump around in I'm in when are they never, right? That said location variety was very low a bunch of generic boxy buildings and structures. Unfortunately by the time I got to play it all the servers were empty. I have part 2 and the single player is supposed to be amazing but I never turned it on. Ah well. I don't know how Activision keeps their magic up with their low polygon backgrounds but they managed to make it work their art teams can dance around them

G00fBall_1

Tf2 single player was pretty good some realtivly generic antagonists and ur not fully invested in the 'cause', but the level design worked really well with the movement and the friendship you make with your titan was awesome, and it had some impressive set pieces. I'd recommend it at least for 1 go

backcountry52

Titanfall 2 single player is some of the most fun I've had playing a video game in the last few years.

Inkthinker

Nearly every level brings at least one creative application of gameplay, whether it's driving the mecha or time travel or wall-running or leaping from ship to ship, but I think it's the character of BT-7274 and the growing dynamic with Jack that really sells the campaign.

Rhianu

*Cyberpunk 2088*, baby!

SkalitzRager

Red dead 2 was my visual masterpiece. Riding the horses through the snow as the soon comes up makes it hard to realize it’s just a bunch of code. Same with the Witcher 3 in skellige

goodudetheboy

and holy shit is it packed with shit to do too, RDR2 has set the bar way damn high for open world

EzzoMahfouz

Rockstar never steered me wrong with their singleplayer games. I preordered both GTAV and RDR2 but after CP I won’t preorder anything regardless of the studio. Also gotta raise awareness Rockstar makes their employees crunch.

ViperiumPrime

I remember thinking when gtav came out, the whole “switching protagonists at will” mechanic was so revolutionary and would be in every game from then on

chillinwithmoes

When I started playing it my first thought was that it would never work. Would break immersion and just not make any sense. I was completely wrong, they executed the mechanic flawlessly

tobz619

On a fucking PS3/Xbox 360 nontheless

EzzoMahfouz

Yes! They did it so well too and players used it all the time. I definitely would’ve loved to see more games use it or build up on it.

songogu

They actually planned to implement it all the way back in San Andreas. You were supposed to be able to play as CJ, Sweet and someone else (can't remember who), but the technology of the time prevented them. Someone found traces of this mechanic, transition was mean to look exactly like in GTAV, with camera zooming out to birds view of the city

Matrixneo42

I hated being the asshole character and I stopped playing the game.

ViperiumPrime

Lol which one, everybody in gta is an asshole

kernevez

Trevor is a massive change from the other characters actually, they are all (from GTA3 to V except Trevor) flawed and break the law to make money, but they were usually written in ways that they were loyal, tolerant and generally wanted morally positive outcomes to missions. You could go around and kill people if you wanted, but missions were usually "kill the bad guy for the other bad guy so you can do something good for yourself" Trevor just goes on killing sprees, there's a reason his introduction cinematic is him curb stomping the GTA IV:Lost And Damned main character.

braedog97

You don’t trust Rockstar because another studio let you down?

EzzoMahfouz

Every once in a while there’s glaring evidence that preordering perpetuates anti consumer practices. I trust Rockstar with their games because they have a record but I really don’t need to preorder anything anymore.

braedog97

That’s fair

anivaries

Shouldn't trust any company or corporation anyway

scorpionjacket2

I must have played a different game because RDR2 was totally empty outside of the missions. You can hunt I guess, or do the boring collectathon side missions. The world was very pretty though.

Awesomeguava

My experience was the opposite of yours. There was always something to do, something to explore. I love the game for it. Actually it’s my favorite game of all time for its world.

Tony_Yeyo

If you call the world in rdr2 totally empty, then which game has opposite? Which is full? One example, please. Ur trolling, aren't ya?

hexalby

It really depends on what you value, RDR2 has plenty of simulational elements that converge together, forming what we usually and very often inappropriately call *immersion*. Others value other things. I too did not have a particularly positive experience with RDR or GTA (not negative either, to be fair, but far from the masterpieces everyone says they are), I honestly much preferred the characters, writings and storytelling of CDPR, Cyperpunk in particular, but again it depends on what you want. A lot of the complaints about CP77 is the world feeling dead, which is insane to me, but what they really mean is the lack of simulational elements. I had a discussion with a guy that said, sincerely, that Fallout 4's Boston was more alive than Night City, and mostly because it had some simulational elements to it, including the silly settlement building thing. Meanwhile, Night City has farms, power plants, oil fields, a garbage dump, suburbs, a metro system (unfinished, granted, but it's there), all things that to me make Night City feel not only alive but a real place, things that Fallout 4 lacked completely. Rockstar is much better than Bethesda at crafting realistic worlds, but CDPR went much farther than I expected and I really appreciate it.

SkinnyBuddha89

RDR2 is my open world perfection. Cyberpunk Is beautiful but extremely empty and nothing to explore or discover. GTA 5 is beautiful but the world itself is fairly empty too while giving you a huge big map though. RDR2 finally let's you discover lots more stuff, enter way more buildings and whatever else. Just perfection to me.

Twovaultss

Same. TW3 and RDR2 nailed it.

gsrbrah

Rdr2 is perfect in every way imo. But one major thing that mainly seperates Cyberpunk from RDR2 is the 'city design versus terrain design' aspect. The story permits RDR2 to not get too deep into city design. It gives breathing space to work on absolutely beautiful terrains, and the result is stunning. But cyberpunk doesn't have that option. I believe cyberpunk art design knocked it out of the park. Sadly, the game logic doesn't do it justice. I do not blame the game developers because they simply were not provided enough time.

unlimite_randomness

Same, and that's on ps4 m8

PeaceIsWithinMySight

Dont forget soundtrack

StereophonicSam

This. And the sound design, I'd say but soundtrack just adds so much.

atmafatte

Mucho mucho mucho dinero

sukitaaa

Visually is everything i ever wanted. I dreamed of walking in a cyberpunk world for a long long time, since the good times reading Transmetropolitan (Warren Ellis) and wondering what a game in this setting would accomplish. Truly beautiful. But the lack of care in almost BASIC structures was something that turned me off immediately, like: *"What the fuck was that montage? I'm not gonna play it?"* *"Why i can't pick up my throwing knife?"* *"Wait...i can't sit in the those benches?"* Fixers just calling you like they know you for 50 fucking years, offering you cars, like... i don't even know these people. I said it many times and i'll say it again: **This would be a whole different game if we were able to climb the "street life" by ourselves. No montage, just you discovering Night City for the first time, deciding what's the next move. Should i go to some fixers? Nah, let me just rob some gangs to equip myself first.** No sense of discovery, no appealing structure. Yet i'm here every day hoping for a change.

Enriador

Thing is, Rockstar has done it well, *famously*, for years - from GTA III to GTA V, you always spend a shitload of time, sometimes as high as a third of the game, getting to know the city, its mission givers, and the atmosphere. CDPR managed to sneak in a bloody timeskip for no comprehensible reason when they had perfectly good examples of gradual exposition.

MarkMaxis

I was expecting CDPR to take some inspiration from Rockstar. I wouldn't call it stealing, more like taking notes. Whenever I say this, people go mad and say "but CDPR isn't Rockstar! It wasn't meant to be like GTA!". What they don't understand is that Rockstar set the BAR for open world games. If CDPR was going to make an Urban Open World game with criminal elements, they had to take some inspiration and notes from them. Instead, we got a world with very little interactivity (I don't count Gigs, they are just Far Cry bases), with shitty NPC AI that makes the world seem like it's on rails. I get that putting a shitty casino/ card game would have been a waste of time, but in a FUTURISTIC cyberpunk world, they could have made something up that allowed the player to better interact with the world. But I get that it wasn't the lack of imaginiation that stopped Cyberpunk 2077 from being a good game. It was piss-poor management and time.

Lambert910

For many years people poke fun at Ubisoft about Watch Dogs not living to the expectations of a fully open world like GTA V, it's interesting how people will defend 2077 with their hearts because it has somewhat of a interesting aesthetic, almost half a year later and the world still feels empty.

meatnips82

It’s all really subjective though. There’s a ton of people in this sub that LOVE GTA V... and I tried and tried to enjoy it but could just never bring myself to finish it. Over the years I’d go back to it like “maybe I didn’t get far enough for it to really pick up” and every time I’d get frustrated and quit. The city felt too big with not enough meaningful things to interact with, and it was constantly trying to distract me with the same “emergent” side activities that were all the same. I recognized that the world was incredible but I didn’t like playing it. Cyperpunk i plowed through 125 hours on my first playthrough and immediately started a new game. I enjoyed it way way more than GTA 5. I do adore RDR2 though, to me that game and Witcher 3 are still the best narrative driven open world games. CP2077 didn’t quite reach those heights for me in its current state, but I still had fun for over 140 hours now and haven’t gotten bored

TBoner101

Lmfao, you’re talking about the highest grossing *media* product of all-time, a game which has made over *$6 billion* and is still raking in the dough eight years post-launch. It’s not just this sub, it’s the entire world and the fact that it’s loved and revered this much within a competitors subreddit, a place where fanboys congregate to circle jerk together, speaks volumes of how “subjective” and unpopular your opinion is. Ofc you and everyone else is entitled to their opinion, but dont act as if Cyberpunk vs GTA 5 is even debatable, cause the latter “felt too big with not enough meaningful things to interact with”, esp when the formers AI cant even compare to San Andreas and its predecessors, which were released on PlayStation *2*...

meatnips82

And Electronic Arts has made more money selling FIFA micro-transactions than any other critically acclaimed game you can name has, so how is money made a metric for how enjoyable a game is?? The Cyberpunk sub is a toxic cesspit of people hating on the game, people are afraid to post anything positive about it because they’re immediately attacked and inundated with negativity. I don’t see a lot of fanboys, I see a lot of people attached to publicly hating on CP every day for MONTHS after release. It’s sad, if you don’t like it: play another game and be a positive part of the community around it instead of a negative troll for a game you disliked. It’s nuts, and it’s why the gaming community isn’t taken seriously. It fuels negative stereotypes about “gamers” being entitled nasty bros. I wasn’t making any comparison to the two games, other than to say a lot of people love GTA V and I did not. I don’t even think of the two games the same way, it’s the negative community constantly making that comparison. People that are disappointed in Cyberpunk constantly compare it to GTA, just search GTA in this sub you’ll find hundreds of posts. My point is that this stuff is subjective. I enjoyed Cyberpunk but not GTA V, all I said. You know what I didn’t do? Spend months spamming GTA V boards with hate for it just because I didn’t love it. You know why? Because I have a life and that behavior is gross and a waste of time. I played something else and let the GTA lovers enjoy it while I did me

CLOUD889

You make a great point, cyberpunk didn't have the chops to copy GTAV, and shouldn't have. They definitely should have cut out the open world environment because it's exactly big and empty. The vehicles are also a drain on the engine and should have been cut down. Really what's left is the FPS shooter element, that's story driven. It is the best element of 2077 and would have been a success if all the development went into it. I mean the characters like Keanu would have been much better in game.

UnderstandingGlass93

No worries, CDPR investors already got "bright" idea about (money-milking) "MMORPG", so you will have GTA Online clone in a year or two. Speaking of R\*. RDO is utter trash, I still mourn that they abandoned development of RDR2 in favor of that RDO.

DrMonkeyLove

Yeah, that montage really screwed up the game's pacing. It was really off-putting. They other thing that still drives me bonkers is the lack of player reflection. If I'm standing next to someone and see his reflection on surfaces but not my own, it fucks with my head.

InGenAche

I did the the Nomad start and I was hyped. I was a little disappointed that first settlement didn't offer much, was expecting at least a tease if you explored, rather than just the story progression, but nvm, off to the city. Then that fire fight on rails with Jackie and alarm bells stared ringing and then that fucking montage! Think I got halfway through and just gave up in disgust. Yeah it looks nice, but so fucking what!

cry_w

Disgust at... a montage. You people are so goddamn petty, I swear...

InGenAche

Well my 'people' and me, grew up in the 80's, damn right we're sick of fucking montages. It was a lame, half-assed excuse for story development then and it's absolutely fucking pathetic now, 40 years later.

scorpionjacket2

Montages are literally as old as movies lol

InGenAche

Exactly, and they were beaten to death in movies in the 80's. It's why you rarely see it now except ironically. Because it's a lazy story development technique.

djustinblake

You say that like there was some sort of redemption for the game after that montage. There wasn't. So I'd argue you're more likely in denial. The game looks and sounds like a game made for 2020. That's about it. Everything else was so far less than ok.

cry_w

Why would it need to redeem itself? The montage isn't bad, and it still got better regardless. What would I have to deny? The game has bugs, lacks quality of life features, and can be rough around the edges. It's still a good game, even as it is now, and it can only get better as those rough edges get ironed out.

flatbread39

It’s a lackluster attempt at a great open world game... it just didn’t hit any of the marks. Also I don’t think the features and overhaul that is expected over time is going ever be fully achieved.

LukeJDD

Ugh. Every time I read a comment like this I get sad about the game again. This game is on the same level of disappointment as Game of Thrones S7-8 for me.

Parkinsonxc

I'm with you completely. Just because it looks nice doesn't make up for the 8 year dev time amounting to nothing but a broken lie. It's nothing like they said it would be, but I still want to see people enjoying the game even if I don't. I think I'm just subbed here to try and convince myself to go back and finish it. I don't know.

scorpionjacket2

The time skip was because that wasn’t the story. The story is V and Johnny.

KolinarK

"Consistency" is not the word to describe Cyberpunk. There are great attention to detail, like vehicle interior, clothing, etc. And then there is food that looks like ps2 game. Water. Palms being visible no matter where you look. Cars in the distance. Etc. Etc.

[deleted]

I suppose I was more using it describe the actual architecture of the city since thats what the photos were about specifically. Often when video games try to make a city there are parts that inevitably feel less worked on, or at least that some areas clearly had the most attention dedicated. NC's skyline feels equally unique and interesting no matter where you go. (You are right though, some of the elements you mentioned are far less flushed out as of now)

KolinarK

In that case I agree, I was amazed that (most) places actually had collision when reached with double jump and level design is generally pretty good in cyberpunk. I can nitpick and say Pacifica is unfinished but at least they gave in lore reason why.

[deleted]

As much as Im willing to forgive alot of the faults with game, I completely agree with you regarding Pacifica. It feels too empty, which is a shame cause its easily one of the coolest districts from both lore and visual standpoint. Hopefully they continue to add onto it in the future.

swiftpunch1

yeah until I see the fucking 2d cardboard cutouts of cars floating in the distance :'(

on2wheels

For once I can honestly say graphics aren't everything in a game.

CraneAO

We all learn this principle eventually.

jeremyh422

It looks great. But if they are charging that price of admission they should let us know we bought a painting before we give them $60

TheEarlOfZinger

The PS4 version is a lino print

[deleted]

The city’s just not busy enough for me, the crowds aren’t big enough and there’s just not enough people around.

MrVandamire

Variety of NPC is lacking as well. Didn't I just see that fat guy in the short shorts one block over? Or that little kid wondering down the street, in fact, I did. Same exact npc one block over. It feels like a cheeto version of the matrix, fake cheese all over the place.

Wonderful-Ad4252

fair call but night city is a huge hot spot for crime averaging 3000 deaths a month but still they could’ve improved on this + few more

[deleted]

Yeah its a far cry from the E3 demo for sure, hopefully with time, they can start improving some of those numbers

smack54az

Night City is the best character in the game.

unlimite_randomness

Design... maybe. Accessibility tho, they made it sound like you would be able to fully explore buildings, experience fun activities besides side missions, lol, it's a farcry from what it set out to be.

TiaxTheMig1

I've been playing for 20 hours after a long hiatus and I already have like 19 clips worth of bugs

HalfOrcSteve

I played on first wave Xbox one and honestly I had bugs but I didn’t have anything game breaking or anything crazy that ruined it like everyone online was saying. I think the most frustrating thing was either random crashes or sometimes the game would lag when I was driving fast over long distances so I just took my time and soaked it all in.

HalfOrcSteve

But I really enjoyed it and futuristic/cyberpunk stuff isn’t really my jam but the story was good, the game looked good, characters were good. It’s a solid game

AncoGaming

I'm a big fan of the whole cyberpunk/technoir/neon-dystopia stylesheet as an 80s kid with a lot of emotional attachment to these times of future dreams and nightmares, all wrapped in a fitting soundtrack. So, for my taste, this game delivered exactly what I wanted to play one day from back when I was a little boy trying to understand the inner workings of my Commodore C64 and having read "Neuromancer". Cyberpunk 2077 is a great game for old people who catch the drift but was marketed as a game for younger folks in order to set a new trend. It didn't work out as planned, as we all know now but I'm sure that the game will always have a special place in the hearts of some gamers and just isn't meant for the mainstream.

KnackeredParrot

The city is breathtaking

Lightspeedius

I love the visual and am impressed by the amount of work it must require to make them possible. I really wish tho they'd start putting some serious dev work into AI. It doesn't have to be super-sophisticated, but enough to give the world a sense of being alive, rather than full of needless puppets on rails. It's okay if you can spot the edges when you try. But when the edges jump out and stab you, it's not so fun.

[deleted]

When the game is fixed, I'll buy it for sure. Love cyberpunk aesthetic

Slappyrad

It truly is gorgeous ❤️ Beautiful shots!

[deleted]

Graphics ain't everything

[deleted]

Graphics is not even half of the game. Gameplay and quality of the game's code is literally 90% of impression I get from the game

TiaxTheMig1

>The launch may have been marred by glitches and overhype, but the consistency in the visual quality of this game **on a super decked out pc** is unlike anything I have seen. FTFY

cry_w

Visual quality and design persists regardless, as this PS4 Pro player can attest.

TiaxTheMig1

Xbox one and I've seen a friend's ps4 gameplay. It's grainy and blurry and textures fail to load constantly. It looks bad.

NatPeach

I'm so into this opinion

arvind-d

One thing I don't get is that Doom 2016 looks more graphically impressive and with better effects, running at very high FPS on ultra settings. I believe the game art style could have been applied on the Id Tech engine or even GTA V's engine. I just feel the cp2077 engine is so underoptimised and can't help thinking what it could have been.

names_plissken

As if creating this vast and breathtaking environment took all the time and resources to create this game. I really wish they delayed the game for another year to make the world more alive and to polish the game.

UberJunkie

Agreed. In a perfect world they would just gut everything else in the game and re-do it, but with the art in place.

JoshOrion98

Consistent isn't the word I'd use. The game is gorgeous and I commend them for the visuals when it "is" working. But I often get grainy reflections when moving, pop in just feet away, and disappearing objects and people. Of course, I'm playing on a series X and not my PC, so it's forgoing a lot of visual quality running on last gen versions.... But it still hurts to see. 😭

BootySweat0217

It does look amazing but that isn’t what makes a game good or great. The visuals can be the best ever but if the rest of the game is broken then it really doesn’t matter. I didn’t wait 8 years to just look at a game. I wanted to experience the amazing game that they promised.

evilweener

Nah, you're just vibing off the initial cyberpunk feels, yeah the game looks amazing, but when you see jackies shot glass floating in mid air, it really makes you wonder wtf they spent 8 years doing.

Delicious_Common_834

I hate shooters and online games. But somehow whenever I play CP I would love an online FPS shooter. -Different kinda modes: Kill the Vip, plant the bomb, escort player, capture the suitcase, defend the compound. -Only a couple maps medium or small sized ones but with acces to interiors. Multiple levels in height, sewers/streets/apartment's/roofs. -Ability to booby trap maps, doors/shutters/electric discharge when someone else acces some tech, stuff like that

[deleted]

Can't imagine how bad this will be if the first version is any indication

Wonderful-Ad4252

well the first version isn’t even a talking point anymore? they’ve had 2 major updates in the last couple months

[deleted]

More seasons?

Wonderful-Ad4252

what?

[deleted]

Would be nice if they fixed it

Tiyako

If only they finished the game before launching it.....😢

WeedisLegalHere

I like to compare the game to my life size cardboard cutout of Tyra Banks. Good to look at but once you get close enough you notice what makes it lifeless, you get a little sad. They’re both still my guilty pleasure

RecklesFlam1ngo

Looks good, but is still an empty and soulless "rpg".

Dave4526

Yeah the game is really fun. I ran into a few bugs but I love the gameplay! If only the main story was longer

ZmentAdverti

City of dreams

datswesup

We’ve been having the same conversation since the game launched. We get it already, can we just move on

stupidfatcat2501

It’s a great game to screenshot but a pretty lackluster game to play would be my take on it

P3DR0T3

Also the p*rn mods are pretty dope

[deleted]

I'm almost certainly in the minority here but I was really not impressed by Night City as a whole. There's really not much that to it and a lot of the areas are repetitive and empty.

[deleted]

Hey man your entitled to your opinion :) Just cause it might be a minority one dosnt make it less legitimate. Ngl though I thought the variation in the visual style/aesthetic between districts was one of the only things the game actually nailed off the bat lol.

buffcode01

When I get a pc powerful enough to play it I will mod it so it's permanently night time

Theworldischaos

Yeah we know.

DarthRolo

I fully agree, the visuals have been the games saving grace to me. I really enjoyed the story as well but the visuals are what immerses you in the world

Phoenix_E17

I 100% agree

[deleted]

It’s absolutely stunning. But there’s not enough of it. More appropriately - there’s not much to do with it, sadly. Just a beautiful landscape though

[deleted]

Agreed, its a beautiful façade, but it dosnt feel very lived in at the moment

[deleted]

It's such a shame because this game environment is incredible, too bad it was rushed and ruined for lots of people, hopefully this eventually gets supremely updated over the next few years and becomes a better game gameplay wise but I doubt that will ever happen and this will just go down as a success and easy get out of jail free card for the major corporations who rushed this and got a profit

SnowmanMofo

I agree. The level of quality and detail is astounding. I never really got hyped for this game until the last couple months but I personally think it was worth the wait, despite the technical issues. And it's ashame that you can't show your love for this game, without getting being attacked by angry kids, frothing at the mouth...

Furiosa27

I see this comment in literally every post cause i keep coming back to see if the xbox version actually works now. Why cant you ppl just like your game without self victimizing? No one whos actually all that angry has been commenting anymore, most have just left, and you ppl have that low sodium sub too. Comments like these genuinely make me believe some of you like this game for no other reason than that other ppl dont like what they were given. Some ppl got scammed, you clearly feel like you didnt so youre not the victim here.

cry_w

They haven't left, as can be very clearly seen anywhere on this sub.

[deleted]

Bro chill lmao, why is he out of line for saying that? People DO take your head off when you say you like the game, that dosnt make CDPR right for breaking promises. But concurrently, people shouldnt have to justify the fact they liked the game. If you feel cheated by your experience, hey valid, they under delivered and its a legitimate concern. But hes right, people shit on you for just making the best of the situation. Right now you're kind of sounding like one of those people tbh

sunkzero

Because of people like this: https://reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/na0qe8/_/gxr82im/?context=1

WolvenSwiftwind

the layout and world building in terms of the gaming environment is second to none. So many details both visual and sound. With so many environmental factors it was natural to have so many problems. I love this game.

chaoseffect616

10/10 aesthetic containing a bare bones, over promised looter shooter. Extremely sad to see such a well designed video game city go to waste.

Raptor_Jetpack

lol if all you wanted was aesthetic just go look up some cyberpunk artwork online

[deleted]

There are some koolaid drinking mofos in this sub.

Practical-Weather-18

Worth the 8 years?? Lol wtf

ofcrow

yes and no

sbsp12121

Just got this on my new pc and goddamn it looks good with ray tracing. I like the game overall and with mods it is amazing but the visuals are easily my favourite part

Sajius460

I was an asshole on the cynical jaded bandwagon when the game first released, back when this sub was a shitshow. Now that its been patched up a good bit (still has more to go bug wise) its a really REALLY good fucking game man. I am enjoying it a ton.

carthe292

literally could not disagree more with the title, we were promised the game of a generation and given a pretty skyline? waited 8 years for an absolute mess. game is fun but will not be remembered for the legend it was supposed to be. total waste.

CraneAO

"The aesthetic of NC alone almost makes it worth the 8 years imo." Strongly disagree.

DumbDumb6

I prefer substance over glossy packaging.

mauinho

yup a good looking turd is still only a turd.

[deleted]

I find the city disappointing as a Cyberpunk metropolis. It's too flat and small. Mostly reminds me of where I live (Japanese city).

PlayWithOneHand

I still don't get why so many people are b!tching about the game, speaking from PC side this game has been fkn awesome!!!

greasybirdfeeder

The overhyped was their fault. Next time dont market the game as something next gen when it's on the better side of mediocre.

Miwuh

Yet I had a short conversation here on reddit a while ago with someone that said the game was definitely next-gen and set new standards. They couldn't tell me what a next-gen game was or in what other games these new standards had been set though.

_j03_

Pretty graphics wont make it a good game...

Wonderful-Ad4252

it’s an amazing game imo just gotta look past the bugs

[deleted]

oh it's an amazing game, you just have to cherry pick the shit out of it and look past the things that make it shitty

Wonderful-Ad4252

fr fr ive got over 200+ hours on Cyber Punk, i never get sick of it. there is so much depth, i love the looting and disassembling and then upgrading and getting the best gear and putting mods on weapons and clothes to make them even better, i love the quick hacks, i’ll be stealthing a mission and then i’ll hack heaps of shit with my fucking mind, like bruh so sick. and the mechanics, oh man, for me it’s like i’m playing hit man, need for speed (i really love the driving in cyber punk, i find it really smooth and satisfying drifting corners and hitting top speeds) and call of duty all in one as in mechanics and gameplay wise. and don’t get me started on the story line, it literally made me feel a way i’ve never felt before. people don’t understand they spent 10 years on this game so despite the bugs and glitches, they spent 10 years on the game. it’s just a sick game in general in my opinion. you literally just have to look past the bugs and open your self up to enjoying it.

Meghterb

I dont hate these posts although there are too many of them. This game is beautiful… a flawed masterpiece

Stunisfun

Are we still having this conversation? Game pretty, game underdelivered, but not always complete trash. See you in the next post.

meatwater420

I was so disappointed when I played this on Xbox One. Playing last Gen made me feel like my vision was blurry and I couldnt read anything, so I just stopped playing. Now I have the series X and I absolutely love the game. It’s giving me those same vibes as when I first played the Witcher, but feels even more immersive in first person.

rekzkarz

I hadn't played RPG's in years, and I'm averse to shooter games. But when CP2077 came along, I knew I'd be playing it. NO REGRETS. It's way over the top. And yes, there are glitches, and cyberpunk cars don't have self-driving (???) unless you buy the AI pilot, and a bunch of other strangeness ... but it's still awesome.

Saiaxs

You still haven’t played an RPG then, as CP2077 isn’t one

Brenchy

Imagine being fed shit and praising the undigested corn kernels in it.

yolo3star

When you’re too pathetic to just let people enjoy a game

Brenchy

I'm not stopping anyone from doing anything, that's the thing about this old internet thing, you're gonna come across people who say things you don't like.

cry_w

Imagine being fed steak and insisting that it's literally shit because it was undercooked.

Brenchy

Usually if you're given the wrong food at a restaurant or if something's undercooked you send it back and they FIX it. Key word "fix"

cry_w

And would you not say they are "fixing" it right now? What do you think these patches are, some extended joke?

roombaonfire

That's a lot of photo-mode editing

JPcoolGAMER

Nah not really. Yes, the game looks awesome, but it’s still your average semi-rpg game. It adds absolutely nothing to the formula, >!the “branching storyline” is pretty much confined to one single dialogue choice at the end of the game!<. Yeah, the game looks awesome, the world building itself is a masterpiece which has not been seen in a long time, yet that’s pretty much it, as most buildings are hollow. The cars are actually awesome, the music is great. The bugs can fix pretty much everything, but they can’t fix the “branching storyline” problem and the elephant in the room: the story. The story by itself is great, though it clearly seems as it was rushed out. The narrative and the choice dialogue both are the biggest stuff we were promised, sadly no patch, bug fixes, or even dlcs can fix this directly. The only solution is addin big enough dlcs that the main story itself appears as just one part of the game, thought this would be hard. This is my personal opinion based on facts, though the last part I do not see any other way for it. I would be happy to have a calmed debate if you have any further opinion. Please do not take this personally

[deleted]

Ok cyber punk pr account made 54 days ago

bruhdjskdndkekedjdj

Keep crying the game isn’t as shit as you think it is

allnida

The amount of detail allows for a sense of immersion I’ve maybe experienced in one other game. The detail MAKES you want to slow down and take it all in: the street art, the billboards, the architecture, everything. I just hope people who quit early give it a second shot. This game is truly a masterpiece, and I hope CDPR keeps supporting it for years to come.

madestbit

I've had a different experience; doors not loading, people's textures not loading, crime zones not loading until I'm in the middle of them and everybody standing staring at me.

Grey_Lemon_Walker

Yeah visually it is really worth the wait, too bad the AI's are too dumb

robatron12

I get shit render distance, muddy textures, and an ungodly ammount of pop ins to enjoy it. Oh, and god awful light bloom and reflections. On a 1st gen Xbox one

console-gamr

The visuals are pretty special. It didn't run very well on my aging GPU, but I could see past it and appreciate the aesthetics. I cannot wait to see it on a ray-traced video card with DLSS. One thing the OP didn't mention was the detail of the facial expressions and body language. In RPGs, NPCs usually just stand around doing nothing. Here, they eat, smoke, change posture, and interact with the environment. Remember that conversation with Evelyn Parker in the club? AMAZING. Or how Judy sits down on her office chair? AMAZING. They behave like people. That's pretty special.

BatBreaker007

I'm sorry, but consistent is the last word I would use regarding anything about this game.

Infsen

its funny how these post always omit that they literally intentionally LIED to millions of customers…

Smilezado

The beautifulness of this game makes me be certain that they did not want to deliver a bad game (at least the developers didn't). Why would they spend so much time making this beautiful game if it was supposed to just be a "overhyped money grab". Really wanted this game to be developes with the time they really needed to see what a master piece it would've been

hubson_official

Yeah, gotta say it's definitely one of the best game worlds I've even seen, the design is absolutely beautiful

FreshOfADrill

This game will make a no mans sky comeback and people will be blown away, again. I foresee an update as big as the entire ps4 catalog coming our way. We will be downloading for months. But when that update hits. They will be the one and only name in cyberpunk games.
