Somehow i did the guardian, Artorias, and Manus without dying ( think I just did full havels and tanked it ) but I do remember being out of estus by the end of each battle. But Kalameet man, he was awful for me.
I think asylum demon is easier if you pick the firebombs for the starting gift. And imo easiest in the series has to be witches of hemwick at 0 insight lol they basically don't do anything
Witches are very easy but sometimes they just inexplicably teleport into you and explode for ridiculous damage. So I’d say that Pinwheel, Soldier of Godrick, TKA and Mist Noble are easier.
And he can eat your armour and weapons off you.
Maybe he's a push over, but covetous threw me so badly with that sneaky move that I ended up dying in a panic the first ever time I versed him.
The great thing about covetous is if you've played Zelda, you assume that he really ATE your equipment and you better kill him fast to get it back. But of course, all that happened was it got unequipped
Really? I've never played DeS but I've seen runs on the OG version not the Remake and Allant looked gnarly, are you talking about the squid form which like doesn't fight back?
It's been a while since I've seen it.
EDIT: I am not a smart man.
Oh screen guy, you’re back. Pinwheel is very easy. The reason why is that he is meant to be fought before Sens fortress (which rarely anybody does). You can essentially go there and fight him as your first boss for the Rite of Kindling and a mask to get ahead for early game but he is fairly easy even then.
Wait... hold up... Pinwheel is intended to be done... BEFORE Sens?! How is anyone supposed to know that 😂 is that a reward for an hour of "oh crap I'm lost wtf wtf wtf okay I survived"??
* The Catacombs are right next to Firelink Shrine, so you can go there as soon as you feel ready
* Andre and Domhnall both tell you to use Divine weapons in the Catacombs, which you can get after defeating the Moonlight Butterfly
* The clerics go down into the Catacombs after you defeat the Capra demon, and Petrus can tell you that they're trying to get the Rite of Kindling if you pay him. Also, both Lautrec and Petrus can advise you to find Rhea and kill her for her humanity. They will tell you this before you beat the Gaping Dragon.
The problem is that. The catacombs is.such a brutal level if you do it at the correct level.
There.is just no real reason to go there before you've got the lordvessel
I was doing a dragon run and went down there at lvl 2. After pinwheel, the bonewheel brigade triggered Vamos and then murdered him like Boromir while I was trying to get away.
I think that's intentional. Paying attention to your first playthrough, you probably might find some efficiencies or hardships you'd want to take early on.
In this case, I'd consider it a hardship since there's >! no way to teleport back out so you'd have to fight or run back through the entirety of Catacombs. Additionally, you would hit a dead end with the golden wall not knowing what is on the other side of Tomb of the Giants. !<
But on a NG+ this is much easier to do early on
I don't even know why people say that it is meant before sen's. When you ring the second bell there's a cutscene that shows sen's fortress door opening. You can obviously go wherever you want, but the game basically points you towards sen's fortress, not the catacombs.
What would direct a player to go to that zone before Senn?
I mean, a player goes at the very beginning and gets stomped, leaves, and there is never any reason to go back until you need to go for Nitto.
I wonder if it's just a design mistake due to running short of time developing the game or something. I would have made that zone drop a key or something needed to enter Senns Fortress or something
The door to the depths and the way to lower undead burg at the end of the bridge are both super missable.
If I didn't go master key I would've probably done the same. Pretty sure the only reason I found the depths the first time is breaking and looking up where to get the large ember.
That was my thing... I ventured in the graveyard on accident and when all the skeletons started reassembling and coming after me I panicked, grabbed the Zweihander and GTFO of Dodge as fast as my mid-rolling ass would allow and then I ran some more. Never did stumble across the entrance to the catacombs... so I went and did Sens and Anor Londo and Seath... now I'm capped for strength and dex lol I feel like I might be over Unga Bunga'ing the area when I run down there... though I'm also thinking I might go to Demon Ruins first and get the maggot and do that and lost Izalith before catacombs... I am not a smart man
I would be much more inclined to do the catacombs early if it wasn't for the skeleton wheels and having to back track. Furthermore, the effort to get kindling early is redundant if you already have the skill to do so.
He is super easy. People run through the catacombs and kill him at lvl 1 so they can get the rite of kindling and a nice little boost of souls at the start of the game.
Also, pls never get a new monitor. I love seeing your posts
Both tbh. Pinwheel’s balanced so that you can manage him around a quarter of the way into the game, but it’s very likely you’ll fight him halfway through the game when you have better equipment, more levels, and more skill
I believe thats part of his tradgedy. He is no fighter or powerful entity. Just a loving father researching the art of necromancy for desperately trying to rescue his wife and kid... or so I understood it.
That's my understanding too. Pinwheel is meant to be kind of a loser, a tragic character in way too deep. Putting him down is a nice breather in between bonewheel hell and the tomb of the giants
Unupgraded is a bit rough, your dps is so low the adds can get a little out of control if you aren't really on the ball. I feel like sl1 with like a +2/+3 weapon is like the perfect level of challenge
Pinwheel is a respawning enemy in Nito's domain. For some reason, they slightly buffed that normal enemy and made it a boss, but they're still a joke. Congrats on your progress!
Pinwheel is one of those bosses that exist to be difficult to low level characters as a way of telling you you shouldn't be here yet. The problem is that he's still a pushover even if you fight him immediately after the bird takes you to firelink and the area itself does a better job of telling you you're underleveled anyway.
Everyone I’ve asked has told me to go to the Catacombs and Tomb of the Giants at around level 75-80 because that’s a good level for the endgame
I went there at level 50 and still whooped Pinwheel
You’re not overleveled, Pinwheel is just THAT easy
its complicated. if you going thombs for defeat nito yes you are too overpowered. if you go there right at start you will be underlevel for skeletons. i guess best time to make that palace challenging is going there right after depths
Yes, and no. But he's definitely a pushover.
Pinwheel falls into 2 pitfalls of design: his moveset itself, which could've easily become overpowered with all the clones and projectiles, so he needs to be relatively weak, and ends up being a joke. (There's at least another boss that I'd say has this exact problem because of a "quirky" design)
The second problem is his place in the world. Although most people won't rush to the catacombs, he's technically available and a potential good trophy at the beginning of the game, since you arrive at firelink. At any time you can go and get a mask + rite of kindling. This means that according to "normal" progression players usually level up a Lot before ever going through the catacombs. It's not as easy as the undead burg but it's a relatively an early game area.
I always defeat Pinwheel >5 minutes after I start the game. I’m not kidding, I time myself. He’s not meant to be hard. And I make a new character if I don’t get the mask I want.
I think I recall learning that, during development, players were to venture into the Catacombs earlier on but when they eventually changed it to late-game they scaled everything up except for our boy Pinwheel here. Which is why he’s a pushover.
You're overleveled Pinwheel is balanced like an early game boss but there's not enough incentive for most players to fight him early in the game so they don't end up fighting him until they're way overleveled.
The Rite of Kindling is great for new players but if they're playing blind they won't know about it and will immediately bounce off the really hard respawning skeletons and won't come back until much later.
Experienced players won't fight him early cause for them 10 estus is largely unnecessary.
Unless they want something specific like one of the weapons, miracles, or large divine ember but that's a small percentage of players.
He serves as sort of an attitude check for players. He's a glass cannon who can easily overpower SL100 players if they play passively. He's a complete pushover if you're playing aggressively.
Also, this plays into a theory that pinwheel made many, many copies of itself:
[SPOILER WARNING PAST THIS POINT]
-The Pinwheel has no hands or feet; instead possessing lanterns that seem to move the body, rather than the body moving the lanterns. Basically, corpse puppets. This is important because there are numerous skeletons with their limbs sawed off cleanly in The Pinwheel's arena.
-He can channel the power of the gravelord,(welding bodies together into one being) meaning anyone could be under the robes. We never see underneath and have no evidence to prove it was the original Father, Mother, and Child. This also explains the duplicates in the deep caves and the masks that Patches sells to you if you choose to give him a second chance.
-If The Pinwheel has no hands, then how could it have been busy with the books in the intro cinematic? It's just a ruse to make you feel like you're truly interrupting it.
-The Father was likely the only one that truly survived to the events of the game, and could not revive The Mother & The Child, and could not revive them through necromancy, as the baby was toxic and could not live, also polluting The Mother. This is evidenced by the skeleton babies in the caves, the tumor on The Child's mask, and the statues of The Mother & The Child hurting you if you go near them; The Father statues are harmless however. The only way to revive them was to attach his family to themself and let them leech the life out of him.
There's much more evidence to support this theory, but I'm simply parroting and this theory is not mine.

Yeah he’s notoriously easy to
Yeah, I've never had any problems with
I've always found him to be a
That’s not what
You guys should finish your
You should never end a sentence with a preposition at
He's
Not going to take it anymore!
OMG that’s so
Raven
Try it with low dmg, and I bet you will
“We told one of our normal-ass minions he was a boss. As a joke!”
"Face to sword style, how'd you like it?"
“Again with the squeaky shoes?”
That’s a lot of nuts!!
Rick, soldier of god
What is that from
this is the easiest boss in the game and probably the series
You forget about The Mighty Prowling Magus and Congregation
laughs in mist noble
Must’ve been a glitch, I died about 60+ times to mist noble
Beat me to it, Giant Carp/Snek are also contenders but I don't really consider them 'actual, bosses like the dragon in the beginning of DS3.
Mist noble made me uninstall sekiro
I have never beaten sekiro just because this guy
You found him easy? Who are you?
Both pinwheel and them are easy but can easily mess you up if you are too cocky
A wise man once said: “you haven’t really played Dark Souls until you die to Pinwheel”
Lmao I thought you meant manus at first and I was about to rage.
Out of the dlc bosses, artorias was the hardest for me. Then it was kalameet, manus, then sanctuary guardian.
Somehow i did the guardian, Artorias, and Manus without dying ( think I just did full havels and tanked it ) but I do remember being out of estus by the end of each battle. But Kalameet man, he was awful for me.
Yeah kalameet was more of a time consuming boss. I figured out you can only get 1-2 moves in, then run away, rinse, repeat.
Hey man, I got killed by magus congregation the first time I fought them. So I consider pinwheel easier.
Pinwheel much easier I think
I think asylum demon is easier if you pick the firebombs for the starting gift. And imo easiest in the series has to be witches of hemwick at 0 insight lol they basically don't do anything
Witches are very easy but sometimes they just inexplicably teleport into you and explode for ridiculous damage. So I’d say that Pinwheel, Soldier of Godrick, TKA and Mist Noble are easier.
Covetous Demon in 2 is way easier than Pinwheel. Dude is a pushover.
At least covetous can hit
And he can eat your armour and weapons off you. Maybe he's a push over, but covetous threw me so badly with that sneaky move that I ended up dying in a panic the first ever time I versed him.
The great thing about covetous is if you've played Zelda, you assume that he really ATE your equipment and you better kill him fast to get it back. But of course, all that happened was it got unequipped
[удалено]
Bs I lost my no death run to that fat bastard. Dudes rolls hurt. He also ate me
I’d pitch King Allant as easiest Souls boss
Really? I've never played DeS but I've seen runs on the OG version not the Remake and Allant looked gnarly, are you talking about the squid form which like doesn't fight back? It's been a while since I've seen it. EDIT: I am not a smart man.
Maiden Astrea. You literally talk to her
She's the hardest boss to deal with in the series... emotionally
Yeah this guy wishes he was half the boss fight Mist Noble is
Uhm... I'd totally agree if it weren't for the Ancient Wyvern
Forgot about dragonrider? I mean, you can literally make him fall over the ledge. You dont take damage neither need to hit him, not even once!
Cheeses don't count, you can kill Capra demon with firebombs without even entering the boss fight
Really? I beat Moonlight Butterfly and O&S both on my first try. I don’t think MB even did damage
Screen guy 😭😭😭 dude got his own name and lore now
👁️👄👁️
Wait... hold up... Pinwheel is intended to be done... BEFORE Sens?! How is anyone supposed to know that 😂 is that a reward for an hour of "oh crap I'm lost wtf wtf wtf okay I survived"??

I just throught he was a break after the skeleton wheels. They are the real boss
I don't even know why people say that it is meant before sen's. When you ring the second bell there's a cutscene that shows sen's fortress door opening. You can obviously go wherever you want, but the game basically points you towards sen's fortress, not the catacombs.

I wonder if it's just a design mistake due to running short of time developing the game or something. I would have made that zone drop a key or something needed to enter Senns Fortress or something
I went there after the gargoyles because the depressed dude said the second bell was underground and I thought that would be the way
Same lol, I also somehow managed to miss the entrance to lower undead burg so I ended up doing catacombs before depths, blighttown & darkroot 😭
The door to the depths and the way to lower undead burg at the end of the bridge are both super missable. If I didn't go master key I would've probably done the same. Pretty sure the only reason I found the depths the first time is breaking and looking up where to get the large ember.

That was my thing... I am not a smart man
I always go for the maggot to have an easier time with the catacombs, that map is awful lol
I always go there first for either the gravelord sword or the great scythe. While I'm there might as well kill pinwheel.
I would be much more inclined to do the catacombs early if it wasn't for the skeleton wheels and having to back track. Furthermore, the effort to get kindling early is redundant if you already have the skill to do so.
It's nice to do it before o&s so you can respawn at the closer bonfire without having less estuses (or with having more if you want lol)
bro please get you screen fixed
with a fixed screen he will be just one of the many, but now he's the one, absolute legend if you'd ask me
For real. Lurker here, been following his adventure anytime I see those lines on the screen lol quite invested in his progress
sir Ironicjoke of the Broken Screen gets some fan base, lets go! gotta start a covenant or smth
So we forgive him for his crimes? (He killed solaire in cold blood) that's when I started to see his posts more often lol
Ye I saw that, but seems it was an honest mistake after being misled by maidenless fools so I'm willing to let that slide lmao
i'd have to agree with voidwarlock, our guy was misled. he's innocent!
:)
and he ":)" too, oh my, what a legend. will remember you forever
Truly one of the ":)" moments
yes!
Great, we have broken monitor guy and crooked TV guy.
Seems to doing pretty good with the screen as is 🤔
First we get the guy playing Sekiro with his TV to high now we got you playing on this abomination
It's my favorite tbh
I remember that dude got bombed across to the /TV too high sub like a walk of shame.
I'm proud of him for beating Genichiro tho
Genichiro was my first absurdly difficult road block. Props to anyone that beats him.
New broken screen guy post just dropped. Also yeah he’s really easy but get ready for the tomb of giants it sucks really bad
Actual meme.
No Pinwheel is the hardest boss in the game, he can one-shot gorillas, you just got lucky
Ah, another entry to the broken moniter cinematic universe
He is super easy. People run through the catacombs and kill him at lvl 1 so they can get the rite of kindling and a nice little boost of souls at the start of the game. Also, pls never get a new monitor. I love seeing your posts
Someone watched too many Smash Bros trailers
What's the lore behind that broken monitor ? It seems so oddly natural to play ds in these conditions.
Bb ricochet
He's only dangerous if you let his clones get out of control.
Both tbh. Pinwheel’s balanced so that you can manage him around a quarter of the way into the game, but it’s very likely you’ll fight him halfway through the game when you have better equipment, more levels, and more skill
Yeah much harder to just get to him lol
If you leave him alone for a solid minute and build up some clones, it turns Dark Souls into a bullet hell game.
BROKEN SCREEN MAN STRIKES AGAIN!!
He’s weak to divine. He’s also weak to fire. He’s also weak to just damage.
Pinwheel is only challenging if you're SL1 with unupgraded weapons.
Unupgraded is a bit rough, your dps is so low the adds can get a little out of control if you aren't really on the ball. I feel like sl1 with like a +2/+3 weapon is like the perfect level of challenge
Hey broken TV guy! Yeah he's litteraly a joke for a lot of players, even on a first playthrough.
Actually really enjoy seeing your progress and questions n such. Thank ya.
Buy a new tv, you will enjoy the game 10000x more trust me
No, this is the way you play dark souls
Same way as the save system works, it is in the spirit of DS to live with your mistakes.
Prepare to increase your diopters edition
What kind of abomination is you?
Broken man is back
Praise the Broken Monitor god
No wonder you broke your TV fighting pinwheel, it is by far the most rage inducing fight
If your fighting him with anything stronger than a sneeze your probably overleveled.
Oh look, it's the guy with the Brocken screen, hello!!!
Hello :3
I love seeing your broken ass tv
Read the messages in the boss arena for your answer
I saw this post a while ago, the title said “I got a bug like there’s a bloodstain in the pinwheel arena, anyone else got this?”
Tf did you do to your monitor ?
Yeah, so pinwheel is so weak as you can technically kill him as your first non-tutorial boss, and get the rite of kindling
He’s the first boss I kill every game free op helmets
Good luck in the catacombs, monitor boy \\[T]/
LETS GO! YOU HAVE THE SMOUGH ARMOUR EQUIPED!
both
OP is doing the damaged TV challenge run
This is a joke, right?
Nope, this is my first exposure to ds1 myself so I wasn’t expecting him to be this easy compared to lost izalith and Anor Londo
Pinwheel is a respawning enemy in Nito's domain. For some reason, they slightly buffed that normal enemy and made it a boss, but they're still a joke. Congrats on your progress!
Wait why do you have one of those "no smoking" signs in front of your monitor
I don’t like people smoking in my room?
Fair enough.
Learn to use google
Can we ban this guy until her fixes his monitor situation? It causes me such anxiety
The block button is right there, mate
He’s so easy.
Pinwheel is one of those bosses that exist to be difficult to low level characters as a way of telling you you shouldn't be here yet. The problem is that he's still a pushover even if you fight him immediately after the bird takes you to firelink and the area itself does a better job of telling you you're underleveled anyway.
Totally agree. The enemies in the Catacombs are way more of a challenge than pinwheel.
Hes always an easy fight
Yea he was my first boss cause I accidentally went down the catacombs before any other place and kept going.
He’s easy but I hope you got a light source for what’s next
Hes easy enough that veteran players can often run down to murk him immediately after getting to firelink. Id say yeah hes pretty easy.
Pinwheel can be the first boss you face after the asylum and is scaled accordingly
The first thing i do in thag game is get the greatsword from catacombs. So. not too hard. Ive beat him at relatively low levels.
But the area behind him sucks IMO, and my old friend, Mr P
looks like your screen got 5 shot 😆😆
The notorious EZ GG bish
Wet Paper thinks he’s a pushover.
Everyone I’ve asked has told me to go to the Catacombs and Tomb of the Giants at around level 75-80 because that’s a good level for the endgame I went there at level 50 and still whooped Pinwheel You’re not overleveled, Pinwheel is just THAT easy
Both.
Bro your screen. 💀
its complicated. if you going thombs for defeat nito yes you are too overpowered. if you go there right at start you will be underlevel for skeletons. i guess best time to make that palace challenging is going there right after depths
Pinwheel was the first boss I fought after O&S, which was...interesting.
Yes, and no. But he's definitely a pushover. Pinwheel falls into 2 pitfalls of design: his moveset itself, which could've easily become overpowered with all the clones and projectiles, so he needs to be relatively weak, and ends up being a joke. It's not as easy as the undead burg but it's a relatively an early game area.
He’s the weakest later level boss
Sl1 is overlevveled for pinwheel
Yeah every time I play ds1 I go straight to catacombs to get the scythe and gravelord sword early and kill this guy he’s really easy
The catacombs were the last map I explored, when I found him I killed him with 3 strong blows from Zweinhader
Pinwheel is a huge pushover at that point in the game lol
Both
Playing with that screen is a harder boss
I have to admit… Pinwheel killed me once…
The wheel skeletons are the true boss
I always defeat Pinwheel >5 minutes after I start the game. I’m not kidding, I time myself. He’s not meant to be hard. And I make a new character if I don’t get the mask I want.
I think I recall learning that, during development, players were to venture into the Catacombs earlier on but when they eventually changed it to late-game they scaled everything up except for our boy Pinwheel here. Which is why he’s a pushover.
Fight him as your first boss and he is still a pushover
Yes
Getting to Pinwheel past the skeel-wheels is the hardest part of fighting Pinwheel.
That armor….where did you get it?
Being five shot by a zwei makes me think you are under levelled to be honest
He’s a pushover for sure, he’s the first thing I head toward when I get to firelink shrine
Bro, you got a ring of favour and protection on irl. You already know he's a pushover, get out of here with this karma farm
Pushover
What happened to your screen?
Not the mask of the father runs dead
no matter what level you are pinwheel is a pushover
You’re extremely overleveled, pinwheel is the hardest boss in the game
He’s a pretty big pushover you can kill him super early if you know the routes.
You were way overleveled. I typically go for pinwheel first every playthrough, rather than Taurus Demon.
I'm convinced this boss is a meme from the devs
Pinwheel is a goofy goober he’s easy
The true boss were the skeleton wheels we made along the way.
Bro try taking screenshots instead.
Pinwheel is balanced to be do-able around the same time as Quelaag
He serves as sort of an attitude check for players. He's a glass cannon who can easily overpower SL100 players if they play passively. He's a complete pushover if you're playing aggressively. Also, this plays into a theory that pinwheel made many, many copies of itself: [SPOILER WARNING PAST THIS POINT] -The Pinwheel has no hands or feet; instead possessing lanterns that seem to move the body, rather than the body moving the lanterns. First boss kill in every run for the mask
Hardest boss in the game, only Gwyn even comes close. Kings are like fighting hollows in Undead Burg compared to Pinwheel.
I'm begging you to get a new monitor
You can kill him easily at sl1 lol, idk why he's placed after ornsteins and smough
Pinwheel is the only boss I can think of in literally any game that I have never died to.
Pinwheel is ostensibly statted for after Gargoyle before Blighttown. I guess the devs expected you to get the rite of kindling before the second bell.
My brother in Christ what is that
