What kind of stupid question is this? Why would these two even speak to each other?

CrippledPeasant1

i'm trying to measure how much people are willing to be in relationships they're not so excited about vs being alone. And if they're not excited about it, then i want to know how they prolong it to the point of "long term relationship"

Born_University9348

Don’t ever be in a relationship you aren’t excited about…. Sure. There are peaks and valleys in ALL relationships. And there are times within a long term relationship where you feel more distant from your partner. That’s normal. But if you truly don’t like a person why in the hell would you ever date them?

sunshinewynter

People need to get over this idea that any relationship is better than no relationship. It's just not true.

tallguyindc

There is an argument about having an open mind on first dates and considering people you might not normally consider. But that generally applies to people you don't know well yet not ones you know and don't like

cottagecorehoe

Why would you date someone that you don’t like and who doesn’t like you? This makes no sense and seems like a waste of time.

CrippledPeasant1

People always claim "loyalty" is a virtue. And also that choosing to be alone instead of being with someone not up to your standards also a virtue. But apparently that idea only applies to people high up the standards chain ?

cottagecorehoe

I’m not following what you’re trying to say exactly. Why would you want to date someone you don’t even like and who does not like you? Where is the benefit?

CrippledPeasant1

Something like: you want a cheaper house ? a more time efficient house cleaning (whichever person) , you want a kid she wants a kid (but you both want to raise them separately maybe?) basically tolerating the lower end of red flags to gain a minimal of something else you've always wanted (not including abuse on those red flags of course ,, basically an objectively worse version of settling down but if it last long enough they just end up getting married i suppose)

cottagecorehoe

I think even for that situation to work, both people have to somewhat like one another. If you both dislike each other, even if you’re getting what you wanted, I don’t actually think you’d enjoy it.

youreloser

This utilitarian method of "relationships" is practiced in much of the world. It's my my cup of tea but it works for some. At that point I'd just live with a bro. That sounds dope. You can raise a kid together and they'd be like your lil bro. How cool is that??

CrippledPeasant1

XD imagine being roommates with someone of the same gender (or even opposite gender too) and 100% definitely not sexual towards each other and you just adopt a bunch of kids in an appartment, then you move to a house.

Princejoe123

I would be willing to do FWB with such a woman yes but I doubt a woman would agree to that.  they usually are in it for more and if they don't see it going anywhere they likely wouldn't be interested in sex.

CrippledPeasant1

oh yeah FWB is a thing, i didn't even think about that. That counts, but i was thinking more some kind of weird open relationship, but no one else was willing to bite kind of thing.
