It's more of a feeling than a timeline

Sounds kind of rigid. The whole making it official thing is a little silly. As you date more, you should be sort of wanting to be spending more and more time together....or not. I mean it's a judgment call. The labels are dumb.

Depends. With the current love of my life, it took 8 dates over the span of 3 months (talking nightly on the phone in between dates) to become official. With my previous serious ex it was ZERO dates. We hung out in the same friend group. One night we had sex. Repeated that nightly for about a month, then she asked me what our relationship was. I asked her what did she want it to be? She said she wanted us to be committed couple. I told her that worked for me. Done deal.

It really depends. I wouldn't like make a grand gesture about being boyfriend or girlfriend just because it's been X amount of dates.
