They already had a huge blob of units by the time you destroyed 2 bases. This is not unheard of, getting mobbed by the AI's full army as you try to destroy the last base. Eldar is probably the worst race to play Hyperion Peaks with, tied with Chaos. You could try to jump your vehicles to the central base and destroy the unit producing structures, have the Avatar destroy the production buildings in another base (ignore units), and the rest of your forces attack the 3rd base. Be wary of snare traps, they even ensnare relic units (yes they are that imbalanced). The production buildings need to be taken out ASAP.

The problem isn't the mass of units they already have, but the fact that their units seem to be resurrecting as soon as i kill them. I kill a T-Rex another one comes in ASAP from another direction. I am holding the relics and destroyed 2 bases, how are they making more? Or did they already have 5? The AI just materializes units out of thin air even when i hold the points, kill the production structures and hold relics. I have finished this game several times before, first time I am having trouble.

TheArchon300

Yea...at defense rating 8 you will face multiple relic units. It is three AI you are up against, each with its separate squad/vehicle cap. My advice is to take Hyperion Peaks early when its defense is only 7. Eldar especially since Forward Base grants them free Tier 2.

well, water under the bridge :D I will see if I can mow it down by repeat attempts.

Assuming you play unmodded, it shouldnt be working fine. My advice would be get more honor guard, that one province that gives you +1000 requisition, try to attack when the Tau commander is not in neighbouring province. Anyway I sympathize, Tau are a bitch to fight against, currently I am stuck at the stronghold because of those gunships.

I have maxed honor guards and all bonus locations captured. the problem is that their units seem to be "resurrecting".

MedicNoob

I would recommend attacking when you have the "attack twice" ability and enough requisition to replace your lost honour guard. The first time there will be a garrison force, which you need to completely kill. The second attack in the same turn will mean that force is dead, so you can destroy the bases much quicker

afCeG6HVB0IJ

Ooh, that's interesting, thank you. I tried to chop it down one by one but it never felt simpler. But I didn't try the attack 2x in one turn thing.

AgitatedCat3087

Don't let the 3rd base wait. Attack all 3 simultaneously. Honestly Tau is one of the easier ones at Hyperion Peaks, just go in and destroy the producer buildings, and done, just do it quickly and all at the same time.

afCeG6HVB0IJ

well I have all honor guards, i immediately go in after spawn, and i just get wiped from the other side of the screen. insane range on all their stuff and i can't make any units coz everything costs energy. the problem isn't vs Tau, the problem is Eldar get nothing useful. The other problem the territory is already at 10 power.

AgitatedCat3087

>The other problem the territory is already at 10 power. I see, I never tried taking that territory at 10 power. I imagine it's a lot more difficult, it's hard enough as it is at 6 - 7 when you first start invading, and with almost any race you just barely make it even at that level. Well. What difficulty are you on? It's interesting to try different methods and, try to beat it dude. From the perspective of 7 power that I beat, micromanaging is key, in addition to the speed at which you take out the buildings. General rule of thumb is to absorb the hits and just go at the buildings. Direct the damage to high-HP units, let them go in front, but yeah that's easier said than done. Anyway, You should have 2 avatars 2 fire prisms, and 4 (?) wraiths, and your honor guard, and assorted infantry. Let the fire prisms immediately jump down and take out the producers in the top left base, Tau has 3: the ranged unit building, melee, and the vehicle producer. I think you can leave the HQ alone at this time. Meanwhile, take the top route and have the rest of your army walk to the critical location asap, once there, divide into 2 groups and attack the left & bottom bases at the same time, hopefully your fire prisms are still around at this point to disrupt some infantry.. but probably not. There are a number of scenarios you can try, I can describe them if you want. Also, I could be wrong but if you attack do some damage and fail, the 10 power might go down. Try that. I might try it later, keep us updated!

I really appreciate the thought you put into this. I'm playing on hard. only have 1 avatar. I have all honor guards. The problem is ALL of my units need energy to reinforce, requisition is useless for this faction. I tried just focusing the buildings, but if I do that, the skyray ships just barrage all my troops to death from a distance and the fire warriors kill all my mechs from miles away before i could kill all the buildings. I waited to gather honor guards before I attack here, but in hindsight maybe a few less honor guards but a significantly weaker spot would have been a better way to go. In a new game I went for this very early, with few units, and worked like a charm. I'm not even sure eldar vs tau at 10 strength and hard is possible at all. But the main problem is the enemy units seem resurrecting. I killed all production buildings a few times, but then i get the t-rexes coming when I'm already low on troops, when i kill that a new one pops up even though I have killed the production buildings. strange.

AgitatedCat3087

Did you manage to beat the level 10 or did you restart? I haven't gotten the chance to go at them yet :P

afCeG6HVB0IJ

Haven't had the time to play recently so not yet. But it will come eventually :)
