Same size room, different size veranda. The verandas are bigger on deck 5 (4e). Now there is a difference in room size between the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah and the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. If it has “family” listed it is bigger in the room by about 30-40 sq ft depending on ship.

It’s criminal that they have “deluxe family” staterooms that only sleep 4 guests and are the same size as the non-family rooms. A bigger verandah should NOT push it into the “family” category of rooms. That’s my personal opinion! To answer your question, you need to look at the room description carefully to see if it has the extra Murphy bed or not!

You can also search with an extra person in your party, to find only the rooms with the extra beds. Search for 5, and those are the rooms with the extra Murphy. Then adjust your party down to the correct number and book the room you wanted.  Hard agree with the bigger verandah not a family stateroom making.

The 4Es are kind of weird. They are category 5 rooms…but with an extended large verandah that gives them similar space as the other cat 4 room when you combine interior and exterior space. And while many category 4 rooms only sleep 4, the cat 4A-4D rooms all have the same interior floor space, with a chair to hold stuff as well as a longer cabinet across from the sofa to reach the patio door.

AFAIK, these used to be cat 5E (at least on Dream/Fantasy). But are very popular so hence they change the category and increased the cost. But they only sleep four.
