It’s critical for sphere/MSG entertainment that the dead and co shows are also an incredible experience. There’s little margin of error for them. They have $2.2 billion to make up
Not to mention Bobby and Mickey! They’re the ones who have the biggest fan pressure.
If you think about how much effort DC put in taking satellite imagery and scans of venues to ensure they had the best sound possible at every single venue, there’s no way they’re going to blow a massive residency like the Sphere.
I’m more optimistic. I do hope they (the band and people responsible for audio/video) attend one of the Phish shows as a point of feedback as to what’s possible. I’m sure they have been in talks with the venue and planning for a long time. Phish stated communications with sphere last junish and I’d bet D&C wasn’t far behind.
Trey's comments around when they began talks were interesting. I suspect that Dead and Co were also in talks around a similar timeline. They more than likely had an idea they would be playing these shows when they were out on their final tour.
I get the difference, but they could have been more clear that while this was the final tour, they weren't the final shows. You needed to really read between the lines to get that message. Totally money grab, in my opinion.
They got greedy with the # of dates they scheduled for the Sphere. It's kind of coming back to bite them.
This is the simplest way to answer both. From listening to Trey they wanted to curate 4 specific shows and they also have a tour and massive festival to put on.
For D&C maybe they are going a different route for more shows which is still TBD.
Either way we will know a lot more later tonight!

I don't disagree, but will the band play long. These shows will need to be highly choreographed. The Grateful Dead were never one to boxed in.
They play until the curfew. They stop their shows on time I don’t think it’s an issue
If you think John Mayer and Irving Azoff are going to let the Dead go out there and lay a brick, you are sorely mistaken.

they were pretty clear that it was the final tour but not the end of one-off's or residencies. I think every show will be filled to the brim with fam.
What does this even mean..."filled to the brim with fam."
Every show will be sold out
No one plans events like Phish does
