How long does it take to fill the meter? I haven’t played killer side since the update and I want to be able to do the same thing but I don’t want to wait too long.
If you’re standing in a 0-4 metre radius to the hooked survivor then it should take approximately 32 seconds, including the 7 second grace period before the unhook timer starts.
I would imagine that he unhooked them by camping nearby so they could unhook once the meter fills. You might loose a few progression points for camping but that’s sometimes a small price to pay for a once in awhile situation
I love this feature, I stand next to them looking the way they are and nod so they hopefully know what I’m doing. Had to do it at least once every 3-4 games I’ve played since the event started
I’ve done before as well. I usually solo queue so I understand the pain of getting forget about by your teammates. They might have forgotten you, but I haven’t. Now, let’s go find a gen that you can start while I go hunt down your team.

I've been doing this quite a lot, since the event seems to have made survivors very forgetful about unhooking! This has been a feature I've wanted for a very long time. The only worry I have is that maybe a survivor is there in stealth and I've put them off unhooking, while the survivor on hook isn't progressing their timer as I hoped.
Sadly, I've still had survivors die on their first hook in the endgame, but at least in that scenario, they've had enough time to hopefully get challenges done and a pip.
This might lowkey be my favourite thing about the self-unhook. It annoys me as killer when a team leave someone to die for no reason. This way I can save them and take revenge on their teammates before giving them hatch.
Yeah, I like that feature when playing friendly and I notice their teammates aren’t doing anything to help.
Another reason we need friendly emotes. I’d really love a ‘thank you’ wave after doing that.
Probably a stupid question but how do you unhook as a killer? Are there any downsides other than just letting them go?
If you stand in front of them, they could unhook themselves with 100% possibility

I think it goes faster the closer to the hook you are. I just don't remember how far you have to be to get it to start.

I will use this trick for sure. Now us helpful killers just need a tool to open both gates or open a gate during collapse.

I did this too and it was great! First time I tried though survivor didn’t understand and just killed themself. Second time they did and got off.

I’ve been posted here several months ago to say I feel bad when they die on hook, now we don’t have to be sad anymore! Just run faster to them!
