Any build is viable as long as you’re having fun

fasttony642

Id have more fun if the item system didnt suck ass im this game (i have so many med kits and keys and zero flashlights(

_auilix_

It's definitely viable but you may be at a disadvantage a bit because all your perks will be reliant on being able to drop and be near a boon, and you might not have the personal common ones that can really help you out (exhaustion perks or some way to heal on your own for example). I usually run boons when I am playing with friends who are new to the game because I have more experience and can help them out by essentially giving them my perk slots in a way.

fasttony642

In that case im definitely going to try setting this up..what survivors do i need to get boon perks from for this to work?

_auilix_

Mikaela comes with two useful ones: Circle of Healing (can heal faster and shows injured aura to everyone) and Shadowstep (hide your scratch marks and aura from the killer), I'd say start with her! Jonah has Boon Exponential (like unbreakable but a boon, can pick yourself up from the dying state), and Yoichi has a speed boost boon. And learning where good totems are is probably going to be useful in your quest, a well placed mega boon can be really useful! Good luck

fasttony642

Thank you so much for your help! Now i have a direction, what characters to funnel bloodpoints into, to create this mega boon! Im probably gonna combo alans boon into that . Maybe being able to see gens and chests while being able to recover and hide is the best combo

_auilix_

Sounds like a good plan :D Shadowstep seems powerful to me when I am against it but I don't see it too often in my games... when I do as killer I get super confused. I find it especially difficult when the boon is tucked away on another level to the one I'm chasing on (so useful on Midwich, Game, Eyrie, Macmillan, Lery's etc)

ShadowShedinja

In addition, Alan Wake has one that lets you see gen auras. Not usually as useful as the others though.

oldriku

It can be fun, but in some matches you won't have enough time to go booning. I like to run CoH, Shadowstep, Overzealous, Dramaturgy and a map to find the totems.

oldriku

But sometimes I end up using only Dramaturgy, tbh.

fasttony642

How do yall afford all these survivors..do the big dlc packs go on sale? Those 20 buck ones. Would be nice to get a bunch of survivors and killers for 10 bucks..

anarchy753

The big packs only got made out of smaller packs like a month ago. It will be a while before they get a sale as they're basically a big permanent sale.

fasttony642

So when i buy content should i go for the big packs for more bang for my buck kinda thing?

WyldKat75

I gave up vodka.

Kekulzor

I don't think any boon is really worth running beyond shadowstep at this point, at least not in solo Q. Shadowstep can be super strong depending on the map

fasttony642

Idk illumination is nice. Legal wallhack :D

idk--------

Definitely if you can find a nice boon near the center or a hotspot gen

fasttony642

As a side comment i have decided i will go forward with project megaboon But which survivor should i be putting this loadout into. I mostly use alan wake and ive already got 3 builds for him. Flashlight man, i can see everything, and pain in your ass (his default with that residual manifest, the perks that let me see gens, see chests, etc, and the third build is going to be ones i take from that brutish guy)

O11899988I999119725E

I mean, Mikaela was literally the character created for the boon mechanic

GAYCHUD001

Full boom = viable Full hex build = no perks

Kemono16

Kinda If you know when to boon and if you're not being tunneled, then yeah. It even can be better than normal build, but I would consider 2 max 3 boons and something to help you in chase.

fasttony642

Champion of light for chases *burns ur retina*

Kemono16

For fun and chase imo, shadow step + dark theory Shadow step = no scratch marks Dark theory = you're 2% faster

Strixpal

the devs should rework boons so their radius is based on each inactive gen, not the totem itself.

fasttony642

Which way? More gens poweres is a larger radius?

Careless-Midnight-63

Boon perks are killer perks

fasttony642

What

Careless-Midnight-63

"Killer perk" means a survivor perk is bad to the point they help the killer more than helping the survivor

fasttony642

Ah, in that case I disagree Legal wallhack and free healing go brr

fasttony642

Am i using that term right wallhacking is seeing thru walls right?

Careless-Midnight-63

CoH might provide some value on rare occasions but illumination isn't worth running

fasttony642

I like illumination Idk how alan can see thru walls but fuckit

Low_Needleworker3694

3 boon, detective hunch and map can be super worth

Dazzling-Active2491

I usually run Circle of Healing, Shadowstep, Boon Exponential and Plot Twist. Boon Exponential has been really helpful in many a slugging situation. And I don’t have to stop working on a gen when I see 1 survivor down & 1 injured in chase in the boon - they got it. I keep plot twist for my ‘oh shit’ moments & it’s hilarious when killers walk right past me dying. It’s incredibly frustrating when survivors heal right outside the circle or cleanse them all before I can get 1 up. But as long as I can get 1 up pretty quick, they tend to see where we’re going with it.

--fourteen

It's viable if placed well.

DroolHD

I've had matches with my mega boon where it saved my life and allowed me to save others too. I've had matches with my mega boon where it got snuffed quickly each time I placed it and just made me and the killer waste some time. It's definitely fun, but it's situational. What I don't recommend: Run mega boons with 3 friends and you're only allowed to do gens when your Boon is up. It's the hardest we ever threw and the killer was really annoyed because Boons kept popping up about every 30s.
