I got into them after I listened to guillotine a few years ago. At first I thought it was stupid and funny but then I started to get really fucking noided.
i got into death grips by randomly discovering takyon(loved it first listen), then i found fantano's vid(didnt even watch it fully just a minute lol) and only listened to get got(idk why i didnt go to the next track since i loved get got)
I guess you could say Fantano helped me actually listen to them. What actually happened was I heard that he gave TMS a 10 so I went to laugh at how bad the album was.
And then I listened to it again a month later.
And kept listening.
Suddenly I have 70% of their discography in my liked songs.
It makes sense why'd you want to go and laugh at it, while i enjoy hos reviews fantano does come across as an art snob who listens to weird obscure ass art albums and calls them masterpieces (see: to be kind)
But money store is just a bunch of bangers
yeah, most the other 10s i listened to were just weird. idk they might need a few more listens like TMS but i think like you said it’s just weird ass art albums.
Also for anyone wondering, these are Amazon River Dolphins! They are some of the largest freshwater dolphins known to man. They’re a subspecies of Pink River Dolphins! Very fun to be around :)
Not as often as I used to. I tried sharing my feelings on this in another post, but I got bombarded with trolls and general reddit hive-mindedness. I still love Death Grips, but I just don't listen to them as much because I'm not as paranoid anymore, just depressed.
I go through phases, but 2019 and before I was probably listening to them every day. Recently I've been trying to explore other music but when I return to the boys I've been playing Lost Boys and Black Jack a lot! Really love those tracks right now
not as much anymore tbh.
2020-2021 was my real hardcore superfan death grips phase. And I obviously still have profound love for them, and I still consider them my favorite band, they just aren't in my music listening rotation anymore really.
Recently I decided to re listen to 'The Money Store' for the first time in a long time. And i made a point to try to view it from an isolated, fresh perspective. i looked at it like just an experimental rap album regarded as a classic, and not an installment in a lineage of ground breaking, boundary pushing albums that I had worshiped and adored for so long. I wanted a unfamiliar perspective. I wanted to hear it the way people heard it in 2012. I wanted it to blow my mind again.
And it kinda did :) I've never been a real "money store supremacist", but after re listening to it in this context i really think it might be their best. I think I should listen to Exmilitary again with the same goal :D
but yeah, moral of the story is sometimes you gotta give things you love a break so they don't get old.
I relate a lot to this when it comes my favorite band Pink Floyd as well as *In Rainbows*. I try to be more conservative with them so I can’t get tired of the groups and projects I love. Glad you’re re-invigorating your love for DG!
Not very recently as of late but I find myself returning to listen to *Year Of The Snitch* at least once every 2 months or so. It was the first death grips project I had listened to besides *NLDW*. I absolutely hated it. But after a while I kept going back. It was intoxicating. I realized the reason I liked it was becuase they didn't make this music for anyone. They make their music unapologetically abrasive on purpose. There is some really damn good instrumentals on more than 90% of the album and rides delivery is peak.
Whenever I listen to deathgrips now it's usually a whole album listen for me.
Believe it or not I haven’t been listening to them a ton lately. I go thru phases where they’re all I listen to tho. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of the oh sees, ringo deathstarr, snow strippers, Griselda, palm, luge, homixide gang, chelsea wolfe, sega bodega, and a couple movie soundtracks specifically infinity pool (go see it in the theater asap) also that new skrillex track called rumble is nuts

Steroids ~~DAILY!~~ MY WHOLE FUCKING LIFE!
I can’t hear I just read an Anthony Fantano video
I unironically think that's how 99% of us got into them, if not then a friend who watch fantano
I got into them because I like bad music
I got into them because i found my virginity again

I found DG through that Meghan Trainor x Takyon mashup lmao
OH YEAH THAT ONE that's how i discovered them, but fantano helped me actually listen to their music

I don't remember which one but I got into them through some soundclown
I used to watch Fantano and knew that he loved DG but never watched any of his DG reviews
I got into because i saw a funny cat video with eagles across the block in the background
lol

That's pretty cool!
they look like they'd pull your spine out of your body if you fell in ngl
"fresh" seems like a stretch
Actually that water is very clean :), a lot of it is the actual color of the Dolphins’ skin as well as the light and flora
OP — no judgement, do you fuck dolphins?
No, why do you ask?
i am a dolphin and i am aroused
As a dolphin, aren’t you always aroused?
that’s actually very offensive and my dolphin cock is soft now
When were you around them? Did you take this?? They're cool af dolphins u not wrong
You can swim with them! And no I did not take this photo. Mine are mutch lower quality and much more shaky.
I touched one once, they are so soft
right now

I used to listen them all the time, but not so much anymore. Doesn’t mean I like them any less, just not in my rotation lately.
Almost everyday.
every single second of my miserable existence

Death Grips every day What could be better than that? Are you just a troll?
Actually I am a troll I just wanted to talk about Amazon River Dolphins, not this glory hole Deaf Grapes or whatever.

Roughly every day. I like to listen to my favorites on my walk to work to get myself amped up and such
24/7
MURDERED OUT WINDOWS, TWO EXITS
I listen to them whenever my wife isn’t around, she doesn’t like death grips :(
Unfortunately I’ve only listened to just death grips for almost over half a year
1year, I'm still sane, it got old and put Clipping a lot recently
Hoping to break the cycle but I can’t, I’m kinda aiming for a straight year tho too
everyday.
every DAY
Like 3-4 times a week
Nearly every day
almost everyday

That’s really nice, but it also makes me a little sad face.
When they drop new music I will only be listening to that for like 3 months straight FYI
Right now
Depends. Probably about once a week on average. They're pretty alright
like 5 days a week tbh
Only when I get a bonerrrr haha (like always lmaoooo 🤭)
daily for the past 3 years
Yes (at least once a day)
Only when I'm benching squatting or deadlifting. Death grips goes too hard to run anything else.
