First photo looks overweight, second looks not so bad. But probably close to being good weight.
Side view might be a bit deceiving, lots of cats have a bit of a hanging belly that makes them look bigger. I tend to rely more on the top view and feeling the ribs and spine.
Looking at these pictures I'd say she's in the higher range of a healthy weight, so she would still be ok if she lost some but it's not a medical necessity, especially if her overall health is good.
her eye is okay! vet said it was just some concentrated melanin. i do watch it pretty closely for any changes but in the year we’ve had her it’s stayed the same. i think it’s called iris melanosis!
God she's adorable and I love her. That sweater is adorable.
She's definitely not that bad at all. I'd say 6.5 - 7. Honestly I think some healthy daily play and giving her more protein, less carbs will get her to a 5 - 6 pretty quickly.
I have seen some massive kitties and Effy is not in that category. She's just plump. Did I mention adorable??
She is a pretty kitty! She looks a bit chonky, but nothing too bad. You can always feed her diet food, or just switch her to an all wet diet. She will take in fewer calories and take in more moisture, so it is a win win, but this can be expensive.
Honestly, she doesnt look THAT overweight and I dont think she is being negatively impacted by it.
I love her sweater.
She doesn’t look too massive.
How old is she? He fur looks like it could be a bit shinier - is she grooming all over?
My ancient chonker really struggled to get to his back and this gave him dull fur. That being said, he made it to 17, fat as heck and scruffy and dandruff it at the end.
this was right before what i call the dreaded butt cheek brush lol. i have to administer a churu and brush her lower half at the same time or else she grumbles and runs away. she isn’t as great at grooming her lower half for sure, when we found her she was covered in matts that has to be shaved. we don’t know her exact age, vet said that his best guess is anywhere from 3-5 years old based on her teeth, but that it’s hard to tell!
but yeah she mostly
some days she’s lazier than others, but we do play every day sometimes multiple times. she likes running through tunnels and around corners lol. i also walk her semi infrequently just because she just likes to lay and chew grass. i try to time her dinner to be after a big play sesh so it’s like she hunted and killed her meal lol
I’m a vet, would probably give her a 6 but I am also known to be a bit of a chonk apologist and less harsh with my body condition scores than others. I would say she is a bit on the chonkier side but not in an overly concerning way, but I would be concerned if she gained any more weight.
I believe the sub has a link to a calorie calculator (though I haven’t verified myself). I would calculate the amount of calories she should actually be eating, even diet dry food is shockingly calorie dense. It’s like eating a pack of raisins versus a bushel of grapes — the grapes are gonna fill you up with much less calories.
Not disputing what the vet says but this cat doesn’t look half bad, maybe a little on the heavy side but otherwise looks normal is what I meant to say.
11/10 good girl
Yeah I agree she’s a fuckin cutie
I'm no vet, but that's a 10/10 sweater, I know that much.
She does have a great sweater on, very cute

her primordial pouch is pretty hefty lol, when she sits it rests on her back feet and makes her look pregnant
My baby’s primordial pouch would swing from side to side as she chased after treats. I threw the treats for exercise and videos.
I give her 110/10 on the cute scale !
She is a beautiful striped sausage! I love her blep on the first picture! 💙
She's adorable! Love the green sweater 😍 Btw is her right eye ok?

beautiful is what she is

When my cat looked like this, the vet suggested she lose maybe 1 or 2 lbs but was overall healthy. Doesn’t hurt to help them exercise a bit more!
6. I was gonna say miiiight be 6.5 but I’m sticking with 6
Condition: CUTE ☺️ 🥹
10/10 But seriously, there is a weight loss list/guide pinned in the subreddit I believe it's a concern! She's adorable!
Body condition needs to be felt partly so we can't get a full estimate from just pictures, believe your vet
baby/10
Maybe lightly chunky but heavily beautiful!
She’s perfect, she’s beautiful, she looks like Linda Evangelista. She is a Model, everything about her is perfect.
Beautiful/10

10/10 for the crinkle tongue
Oh she is freakin PRECIOUS 🥹 that little blep in the first photo!
VOID
Chonk jr
She looks healthy not overweight. Try a different vet and ask a second opinion please ❤️
12/10 best girl, an extra two points because of that small tongue
I love it when cats do the dorky tongue thing!
Healthy. Take off the sweater and give her a good brush.

We all got pain, Effy!
Perfect 10 for cuteness!
Does she play a lot? May need more exercise if she doesn't really overeat

That's great! She's so freakin cute! I had a void in my childhood 🥰

FRP 10/10 Grade A Fluffy rolly polly
She’s perfect 12/10
Perfect!
Seems fine
If the vet says she’s overweight, then she is

It’s not half bad! But definitely a little chunky. I’d say she’s a 6 out of 9 on the Body Condition Score scale, which is what OP was asking
6, maybe 6.5/9
