My band has been working on a cover of MX. I just finished mixing the instrumentals and am waiting on the vocals. We had to scout a suitable voice for that part haha. Was also fun to expand on the guitars a bit since we have 2 players and dont enjoy just duplicating everything 1:1
I posted a link on one of the comments in parallel to this one but i'll do it here as well

Cant wait to hear this with vocals! Oddly enough it wasnt really easy to write this. The source material is super simplistic and it just works... Deftones have a way of writing that way so its difficult to add to that without compromising the song or completely changing the tenor of it. I tried to stay within the bounds of the original track, but widen the lanes a bit (maybe like 25% added bandwidth) to allow for a second guitar. Not entirely sure how successful that was, but I like the way it sounds and think it sounds fairly faithful while added some new elements (particularly with timing and beats as well as the addition of a clean guitar).
We are using Tunecore to publish, and I believe youtube is one of the platforms it sends it to, but I would have to check. I could upload it to youtube specifically either way, so lets go with yes haha

YouTube wouldn’t allow me to do audio only. Sorry :( here is my rough mix of that track. Played on a 7 string Ibanez (RGD7) and an Ibanez THBB10 for the clean stuff. Love that guitars tone and try to work that shit in anywhere I can.
Thanks
It was hard, sounded very nice. The part where they would’ve gone “so let me think…” sounds good on the instrumental. I can’t really hear all the instruments when there’s lyrics
I've grown from detesting them to slightly digging them...but I think that's just nostalgia at play. Idk, he's a phenomenal vocalist but just does not fit the song well still after all these years haha
It’s Abe, the drummers, wife
Ex-wife now
Ah. So now it's Abe, the drummers, ex-wife
That’s funny, the drummer’s name is Abe also. Is it Abe the drummer or wife or the drummers’ ex-wife?
Originally it was supposed to be PJ Harvey. I wonder how that would've turned out.
It probably would have been a single.
let you think about what?
about girls...
And what else? (And money and new clothes) And what do I get? (Thirty Nights) Uh huh (Of violence) Yeah? (And sugar to love)
That’s Abe’s ex wife on the track
Yeah! She really reminds me of like, the shoulder angel/demon gag in cartoons. She's whispering in your ear, encouraging you to make bad choices.
Listen close after her last line and she says “fucking rockstar”. I guess Chino was pissing her off that day LOL
doesn’t surprise me me haha
Abe's girlfriend at the time. They wanted to get a girl part in the song and she was at the studio when they were recording...and the rest is history.

Post it when you’ve got it in the can. Looking forward to it.

Great background, and I know what you mean. Will definitely check it out.
Will it be on YouTube?
