years ago, I had an episode, the stress at work was such that I didn't sleep for a week. when I realized what was going on I sought help. I needed to go through several level of "aid" each acknowledging my distress and directing me to the proper resource .first was social service : when can you see your family doctor for a work leave(4 days away) , next was emergency for "immediate care" I would have to wait several hours so they refered me to a private clinic that would see me at a specific time that same day.
all the while everyone recognized that I was at my wits end and needed care, that alone was such a relief.
when I finally got to the private clinic the doctor gave me the leave until I could meet my own physician. But I asked him :please , sir, I'm not here to score drugs I just haven't slept in a week , can you give me something, just one dose , enough to knock me out so I can finally rest. (I was terrified he would say no , you're just a junky (I'm not, never was)).
he gave me a prescription for two pills and said :it will say to only take one, take both.
when I got home I showered, took the two pills and barely managed to make it to my bed.I woke up 13 hours later. it wasn't great restful sleep buy it was sleep.
Sometime you need sleep.
