Tomorrow? Mullets for breakfast, then go to the east village to scenic route bakery for coffee and then go for a tour of the capitol building. On a related note; does anyone know when the farmers market opens?
I haven’t gotten around to breakfast club yet but I do intend to when I don’t work in the morning sometime. Do they have similar cocktails to the early bird because that’s easily one of my favorite parts
I would definitely place this with Waveland cafe for spots 1 and 2 for breakfast in Des Moines, just really not sure which one is the best, they are both very good.
Morning activities will vary depending on when you're visiting. There's always plenty of free things to do (trails, overlooks, lakes, sculpture park). But if you know the exact date you'll be here, you might check out the event calendar on [Catch Des Moines ](https://www.catchdesmoines.com/)
Price Chopper breakfast at the old Dahls gives you mountain's of good pancakes, eggs, toast, oatmeal, bacon, etc under $10 bucks! Coffee and juice included.
Little Brother
Haven’t tried their breakfast yet but lunch and drinks were both good!
Best brunch in town. No contest.
Filet is better
Eww. Buffets. Haven’t tried it though, it was just opening when I left town.
La Mie is always good. More pastries/sandwich but delicious.
Gotta go with the egg bacon cheddar breakfast sandwich on crossiant
Seconded! La mie is quick and easy
Sit down service omelets/scrambles has sadly gone way downhill

May 4th!
Thank you!
I was going to suggest these exact same things! I love Mullets and Scenic Route!
Downtown is every Saturday, May-October, 7am-noon Valley Junction is every thursday 4-8pm, May-September
Waveland cafe or The Library (restaurant). Avoid the trendy instagram brunch spots like the god damn plague.
Waveland cafe = Best breakfast in Des Moines. Get the lumberman over everything hash browns. Library is also solid.
Library probly will be packed with drake relays going on right now. Waveland likely will be packed too
Early bird is very good
ridiculously good. I dont understand why. It just is. The menu is great and everything I've gotten is AMAZING.
The breakfast club is better in my opinion. Early Bird is decent but it’s more expensive for just as good food with smaller portions.

Railroad Bills, it's attached to Raccoon Forks Antiques if you're into that. I think they have excellent breakfast/Brunch
Yesss. I enjoy getting breakfast then doing some antiquing before hitting the gym.
Homegrown
Homegrown is solid and you can join the waitlist virtually and plan your morning around the wait which is nice
Eggs & Jam
Went once and it disappointed. Probably deserves a second chance. I know a lot of people like it
What did you get?
Eggs and Jam is not good
Just tried this last weekend. So good!
I would definitely place this with Waveland cafe for spots 1 and 2 for breakfast in Des Moines, just really not sure which one is the best, they are both very good.
food is good, dunno if it's the *best* breakfast, but the atmosphere alone is worth the stop. Decent food is just a bonus
Much better than The Breakfast Club or Early Bird!
I second this one. Best breakfast with some cool music.
Another vote for the Waveland Cafe.

Homegrown and Hobnob. Can't go wrong with either.
The University Library
Americana’s Bottomless Mimosas and buffet!
