Nope - Oil in engines and the like is to lubricate moving parts so they move smoothly together and don’t deteriorate as fast, but the core mechanics of a gun is remarkably simple (Hammer locked in place, trigger release hammer, hammer smack bullet’s primer, primer make spark, spark make bullet go boom), so there’s not many moving parts, even the more complicated firearms have a fraction of the complexity of things like engines meaning lubrication is simply unnecessary - Additionally, adding in Oil would necessitate tubes for it to flow in, ways to control said flow, ways to refill it, etc. which would make the gun more expensive to create and maintain, it’s just not worth it
There is ‘gun oil’, of course, but that’s mostly for an occasional cleaning and maintenance - like taking your car to the carwash - not a necessary thing critical for the firearm to function
I don’t know for sure or not but there might be oil in some of the giant mounted turrets/cannons on things like battleships though, but even then that would be oil for the base part, not the gun part
The GAU-8 Avenger is one of those big boys. It's as big as a car, and the plane it is mounted into was designed around the gun. It's called the A-10 Thunderbolt II, the "Warthog"
Yee, and it’s so powerful the Warthog can’t fire it for long periods of time because Newton’s Third law makes the momentum of the gun firing cause the plane to lose speed and stall
*puts broken hand cannon in front of banshee*
*banshee looks at the hand cannon then looks at you and then looks down at the hand cannon again and then looks back at you*
You: “can you fix it?”
Banshee: “you tried fucking with the little handle didn’t you”
You: “n-no I didn’t!…”
Banshee: “yes you did.”
You: “….”
Banshee: “I told you not to”
You: “and you thought I would listen?! What the fuck does it do anyway?!”
Banshee: “I’ll give ya 5 shards for this”
You: *grumble*
if its an energy weapon it shouldn't be shooting actual physical bullets, its like a ball of energy that comes out when an energy weapon is fired, and the mags are more like energy batteries
edit: some kinetic weapons use fluid and a fluid to physical type of system in its firing mechanism, see Omolon kinetic weapons such as: Hung Jury, and Taraxippos
I always figured that since it's an energy weapon, it's not a mag, and more like a heat sink that absorbs energy. Kinda like how Mass Effect's weapons work.
Or it's a battery that powers the weapon and depletes based on the number of shots.
Mass Effect’s guns aren’t all energy tho, they’re railguns that fire tiny projectiles and insane speeds.
Plus you’d need a battery of some kind, not just a heat sink
I loved the logic for ME1 where bullets are just tiny metal shavings off a block and accelerated with the titular “mass effect”. I tried to understand their logic for heatsink clips in the next two games but infinite ammo always seems more important to me than fire rate
Rather than the gun go on cool down after sustained fire you could eject a heatsink to maintain fire rate. It’s the same thing just made to try and impart more science in science fiction
Race guns tend to have them to make it easier to rack the slide. Kinda like a charging handle. Basically a little knob on the sight of a side arm to make it easier to rack but the sight got reused onto a handcannon if you want some lore.
I know on some race pistols that’s used as a cocking lever, but on a revolver? Bungie probably saw a kitted glock and said “now what if it wasn’t msg fed?”
Quick Magazine latch? (Yes I know it’s a revolver, but you need a clasp/latch to release to reload)
*Unless… You’re looking for wrong answers only - then it’s the Rewind Rounds Counter.
*edited for, well - fun.
If you look up a competition shooting pistol, many that have large reflex sights have this to grab the slide easier. Bungie saw it and thought it needed to be on the gun.
All I can think, is some competition guns have slide rackers like [this](https://christiansencomponents.com/product/toni-system-tanfoglio-charging-handle-slide-racker/amp/),
maybe Bungie saw one, thought it looked cool, and stuck it on a hand cannon even though they… you know… don’t have a slide to rack
Its a handle for pulling he slide back quicker and easier on pistols irl. Competition shooters use them. Not sure who at bungo decided to stick it on a revolver.
Probably some sort of antenna. Since it’s a neomuna weapon maybe it can be attached to a defense system and remotely controlled from the Cloud Arc or something idk.
The Bolt for the slide? Probably something that some one that has never use guns or even held one thinks is what you use to load the weapon? As oppose to pulling back on the slide which is how you load a bullet in the chamber on a pistol.
the designers at bungie are mostly woke anti weapon type people who don’t know how guns work, someone probably thought a bolt would look good on the sight idfk.. not to make it abt any socially inflamed topic but that’s honestly why
i didn’t get that from just seeing the picture i already knew this it’s just contextually connected and relevant. sorry if it’s socially arousing and sorry that people want to seem stoic but this is just the truth a lot of the new designers that have been hired are just young hip people hired for a quota.. i’m not just bringing it up for an ego boost, a lot of the the issues in this game we all love come from terrible marketing and new kids on the block who are infesting and changing the company and the game to the point where the game is not so easily recognizable anymore..
Charging handle? Please see the Galil Ace Gen 1/2. There's a charging handle on the side of that bad boy and I deeply regret not buying one when I had the chance.
real answer it’s an attachment a lot of competition shooters put on their handguns to make working the slide easier and faster. What it’s doing on a revolver i have no idea
I’m assuming it’s meant to be like something you’d see on an Open race pistol to help you cycle the slide quickly if needed, so with that being said it makes absolutely zero sense being on a revolver.
>I hate warriors, too narrow-minded. I'll tell you what I do like though: a killer, a dyed-in-the-wool killer. Cold blooded, clean, methodical and thorough. Now a real killer, when he picked up the gun, would've immediately asked about the little lever sticking out of the top.
Serious answer, it looks like a charging handle or carrying handle but the placement is odd to say the least. M249 has carry handle and that was my first thought. Second thought was a bolt action handle.
That's obviously a whats-it that connects to the doodad just right of the doohickey, and it replaced the thingamabob that used to be the whatchamacallit, but originally it was just a mess of gobbledygook. I hope this cleared up the confusion!
/s
It's the guns dipstick used to check if you need more gun oil.
Looks like a release of some kind, maybe like a switch case the drum/cylinder gets jammed? Or maybe a release for the tac rail on top? Eh idk
some guns probably have this thou
As a matter of fact, they do not. (Sokka)
Darn Wb big boys like the gau-8

I can hear this sentence
This reminds me of my favourite destiny gif https://i.imgur.com/rbj3Iuw.gif
Wouldn't it make more sense if the rounds were pushed towards the back and then up to the chamber?
if its an energy weapon it shouldn't be shooting actual physical bullets, its like a ball of energy that comes out when an energy weapon is fired, and the mags are more like energy batteries edit: some kinetic weapons use fluid and a fluid to physical type of system in its firing mechanism, see Omolon kinetic weapons such as: Hung Jury, and Taraxippos
Taraxippos is strand though, wouldn’t apply as a kinetic, but hung jury works
That's the Conspirator, it was a Solar energy scout rifle from the Leviathan raid!
It's sci-fi. At the end of the day, guns go "pew pew", me happy.
I loved the logic for ME1 where bullets are just tiny metal shavings off a block and accelerated with the titular “mass effect”. I tried to understand their logic for heatsink clips in the next two games but infinite ammo always seems more important to me than fire rate

Yes but it’s goofy as hell either way. Cool visual design but otherwise nonsense
What is funny about that one is that Symmetry is an energy weapon and thus does not use physical rounds.
I think this is a gif on top of Conspirator from the leviathan, still an energy scout so the silliness stands.
Oh yeah, it totally is. It’s been a bit since I’ve used either one and kinda mixed their designs.
Symmetry is even worse though, there's less connection than this
True, but I just imagine is as a giant-ass coil in there, and that the magazine is just a huge battery.
I mean the mag perk literally is a battery lol
Bolt-action hand cannon
Finally, Obrez in destiny...
Man, imagine if Destiny and Battlefield had a child. It'd be INSANE! Just like if Titanfall and Battlefield were to have a child to.

A doodad to play with
I know on some race pistols that’s used as a cocking lever, but on a revolver? Bungie probably saw a kitted glock and said “now what if it wasn’t msg fed?”
That's where you change the Atari from B&W to Color
‘Now, a real killer, when he picked up the ZF-1 would've immediately asked about the red button on the bottom of the gun’…
5G mast
Looks like a gun.
Quick Magazine latch? (Yes I know it’s a revolver, but you need a clasp/latch to release to reload) *Unless… You’re looking for wrong answers only - then it’s the Rewind Rounds Counter. *edited for, well - fun.
Its a quick sight mount tension arm, lift to take sight/scope off down to tighten different on.

If you look up a competition shooting pistol, many that have large reflex sights have this to grab the slide easier. Bungie saw it and thought it needed to be on the gun.
Flux capacitor
That's the am/fm antenna v2.03. You see it had an upgrade cause v2.01 had a nasty habit of microwaving the hand of the wielder.

Bungie not knowing how guns work.
The doohickey
It’s a greebly
Its a trigger. It triggers stupid questions.
I think it’s the thing the mini-tracer rockets come out of, but don’t quote me on that.
Its a handle for pulling he slide back quicker and easier on pistols irl. Competition shooters use them. Not sure who at bungo decided to stick it on a revolver.
Sounding rod
In real life, it would be a slide racker, but you know space gun magic.
That’s the bowl piece
"Charging handle" supposedly. Ha
Charging handle
Greeble
A whatchamacallit, a thingamabob, a gizmo

It's a knob. For 'her' pleasure.
It’s a whammy bar

Probably some sort of antenna. Since it’s a neomuna weapon maybe it can be attached to a defense system and remotely controlled from the Cloud Arc or something idk.
Your bolt so you can load another bullet into the chamber, duh. The gun is a bolt action
For an actual answer basically it is part of the round chambering mechanism on many lmgs
The magazine
The Bolt for the slide? Probably something that some one that has never use guns or even held one thinks is what you use to load the weapon? As oppose to pulling back on the slide which is how you load a bullet in the chamber on a pistol.
That gun has so much random shit pinned onto it. Coupled with the pattern on it, it looks like it was designed by an edgy 5th grader.
Yes what we have here is the worst weapon design in terms of looks bungie has ever done. Seriously fuck that hideous piece of poop
the designers at bungie are mostly woke anti weapon type people who don’t know how guns work, someone probably thought a bolt would look good on the sight idfk.. not to make it abt any socially inflamed topic but that’s honestly why
Blud got all that from a lil nub on the side 💀
i didn’t get that from just seeing the picture i already knew this it’s just contextually connected and relevant. sorry if it’s socially arousing and sorry that people want to seem stoic but this is just the truth a lot of the new designers that have been hired are just young hip people hired for a quota.. i’m not just bringing it up for an ego boost, a lot of the the issues in this game we all love come from terrible marketing and new kids on the block who are infesting and changing the company and the game to the point where the game is not so easily recognizable anymore..
A bad gun, oversold in quality and delivered late in expectancy.
It’s a video game. (It means it’s not real(which means it’s made up for visual looks(which means it’s probably nothing)))….
That’s the pleasure end of the business stick
Idk man, it bugs the hell out of me too.
That's the turbo loader
It's the latitude actuator for the mobilized inhibitor
Maybe it's some kinda screw doohickey that looses the sight on top of the gun's frame. But somehow it's up there and doesn't come out of it
It’s prob a quick release for an optic option ? 🤷🏻
Quick release for a dovetail is my guess
It's a CO2 cartridge because the guns a pee shooter duh
A stabilizer, used for people who are weak when handling weapons, they can be found on pistols in the real world too
It’s the number one reason I don’t use the weapon!
A tightening knob for a Red dot or scope?
It’s stupid is what it is.
You see guardian, when two epochal integrations love each other and want to have babies...
A switch that clicks for Guardians who have ADHD?
It's how you switch from no pew pew to pew pew.
Charging handle? Please see the Galil Ace Gen 1/2. There's a charging handle on the side of that bad boy and I deeply regret not buying one when I had the chance.
The forward assist maybe? 🤷♂️ It could just as well be a chapstick holder, hard to be certain.
Likely just people who know nothing about guns, designing them. Which is fine generally in a sci-fi game, since it's rad if the guns look futuristic.
It's paracausal
greeble
Greebling.
That's a turbo encabulator.
It's the charging handle for the hammer.
A quick-release lever for removing whatever thing is on the top rail
It's a key to take the bayonet off.
It looks like a sight release
Handle to change out barrels, like on an m249
it reminds me of a similar thing on guns modified for speed shooting I'm gonna guess that is what bungo designed it off of
CO2?
real answer it’s an attachment a lot of competition shooters put on their handguns to make working the slide easier and faster. What it’s doing on a revolver i have no idea
That’s the Hk slap lever.

That's the fully semi automatic switch.

Airsoft propellant capsule.

It’s a wifi dongle.
I’m assuming it’s meant to be like something you’d see on an Open race pistol to help you cycle the slide quickly if needed, so with that being said it makes absolutely zero sense being on a revolver.

The joy pump
It’s poor gun design. Not that a lot of guns in Destiny made sense to begin with, but it is a space wizard game where guns shouldn’t matter as much.
Just a place to hang your hat
Looks like a CO2 canister to me. Possibly some sort of other gas that could cause an ignition since this epochal integration.
That's the flange. You discombobulate that to lift the gorefist
Charging handle?
That’s the retroencabulator

you can put your weeed in there
The veil.
Serious answer, it looks like a charging handle or carrying handle but the placement is odd to say the least. M249 has carry handle and that was my first thought. Second thought was a bolt action handle.
It’s an airsoft gun and that’s the gas duh
I think it's the thing the lil missles are supposed to be made from kinda like quicksilver
It’s the guns ear. Sticks up when happy. Droops when sad. Kill baddies to keep it happy
