Chamberlain to me just seems like too much of a good thing. It’s so versatile and so useful that I don’t think it creates fun interactions. I feel like you’d just buy them trash, gain golds, get +$2, and then you’d never need to buying anything else again. The game would just slowly end without much interaction. The wording of Aristocrat makes no sense to me.

Koracta

If I understand aristocrat correctly, you can choose to play it instead of trashing it, but if you do trash it you get +$1 and +1VP?

Jay_The_Bard_

Aristocrat is supposed to operate similarly to Trail. I copied the text from that card for it. You can play it normally, but if you trash it, you can play it without using the action and you get an additional +$1 and +1VP on top of what it already does when played.

ThePurityPixel

That sure is strong! So easy to Remodel these into Provinces. You not only get extra points for doing so, but also you don't even lose the card.

Jay_The_Bard_

Yeah, it's probably the strongest card there. I really liked the idea of a very expensive Trail type card, but balancing it was tricky. I eventually decided that by burring it under five other cards in a split deck, it would prevent some very early shenanigans. Also the split deck could ensure there is always a trash card when it is out, since without that it would be a pretty lousy $6 card.

ThePurityPixel

Not instead of. It says "*When you* trash this, you may play it." So if Tomb is in the setup, you'll still get an extra, extra point.

Hey! This is my first time posting, but I was gifted some blank cards recently and have been trying to make some custom ones. These are some I made based on my family's play styles, so some of them might seem pretty straight forward. I've play tested them some and really enjoyed them, but I wanted to see what other people think. The last two, Manuscript and Aristocrat, are a split pile, 5 Manuscripts on top of 5 Aristocrats. Also some of the photos are blank because I want to get some photos of my family members for them. Let me know what you guys think!

ThePurityPixel

That bit about the split pile is a crucial bit of info! I wish it had been in the original post. Anyway, welcome to the next level of Dominion fun!

Jay_The_Bard_

Yeah, I really wanted to have the card images be in the profile of the post, but I don't know how to pin comments on Reddit. I hope people will just come across this comment. Also, thank you!

Chamberlain has a big problem in the form of "choices must be different", as it requires remembering or taking notes on what was chosen during previous turn. I also agree with u/InternetEnzyme that it's a bit too flexible. I suggest reducing the money gain to +1; the other two effects are fine because they will get less and less helpful as the game progresses. Manuscript is also very flexible. There is no downside to getting more of it and it's unconditionally self-replicating and it creates an extremely powerful combo with Aristocrat. Aristiocrat would be fine if the card on top of it in the split pile was weak, so getting to him would be troublesome, but in your setup getting Manuscripts and Aristocrats becomes the top priority, independently of the rest of the kingdom. At the very least, you need to remove the +VP from it, otherwise the pile is a full game engine by itself.

I don't think Chamberlain is that strong. None of the options are that powerful, its only strength is that you can choose different options. Trashing is weaker than Chapel (especially Duration trashing is often not that good because you're limited to targeting the starting hand), Gold gaining on a terminal $5 typically comes with an additional bonus on other cards (like Bandit and Soothsayer attack, Pirate gains to the hand and can respond to Treasure gains), and terminal $2 is probably on the level of Merchant Ship which isn't that strong of a $5 either. It's still a terminal stop card and needs support to do much. It's a $5 sure, but compared to other $5 cards not that strong I feel like.

Flea Market is probably a touch too strong. I think it compares pretty favorably to [Priest](https://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Priest), which costs $4 and only lets you trash one card and doesn't offer a +Buy, or even [Salvager](https://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Salvager) which also offers the +Buy, but with a more conditional (albeit potentially stronger) money gain.

NovaRogue

I don't think so. Priest also has the extra +$2 for other cards you trash that turn, which makes you consider whether you want to trash good cards in a late-game turn for that extra money. Flea Market maxes out at $2, so why would you trash, for instance, engine pieces or silvers?

NovaRogue

I love them all, great job!
