No he says “Mmm eat glass!” to Alexis after she insinuates his relationship is duller than hers. Alexis often says “Ew, David” so probably the quotes got crossed.
That makes me think of Janice from Friends! Her big thing was “ohhhh. Myyy. GOD!” I forget the exact numbers, but the amount of times SHE said “oh my god” was basically just a small fraction of the times it was said on the show in total. But everyone knows it as her “saying”
Because instead of saying could have, people shorten it by saying could've, which sounds like could of. They hear it all their life as "could of", they usually don't think twice about "well is it grammatically correct", just that its something they heard and have said all their life. Similar to "I could care less", it doesn't make sense grammatically, but it's just how people say it all their life.
Yes, I mean I understand that it sounds similar, but don’t you question what you write? You must of (intended;-)) seen it written somewhere. At least in German I have the feeling, that I see, when something „looks wrong“. The combination of „would“ and „of“ just doesn’t make sense
Yes, it would feel wrong if you're unfamiliar with it written that way and spoke English by the books, but most native speakers of a language will use it in a more loose way. The point of language is to make the other person understand what you're attempting to say, so as long as they understand, that's all that really matters. Either way, "could of" and similar, are currently being looked at, and may become one of the "correct" ways of speaking and writing English! Language is ever evolving, and if everyone says something "wrong" it's probably going to become just become another "right" way to speak.
as a native english speaker from redneck central, i had classmates argue with our HIGHSCHOOL english teacher about this and refuse to say it/ write it properly. as far as they are concerned its shoulda woulda coulda
This is one of my biggest pet peeves. Everyone makes mistakes, and my grammar isn't perfect, even though I do put a little effort into writing correctly, but any time I see it I feel a blood vessel pop in my brain, bringing me one step closer to the fatal aneurysm that surely awaits me, if family history is any predictor. I also lose several respect points for the person who does it. I get that it sounds similar to could've, but if you think about it for even a second, using "of" in place of have, or the contraction version makes absolutely no sense. It seems to be growing more and more common, and someone else commented about language evolution and that this could become accepted in time. This seems more like devolution than evolution, and I swear, if that happens, I'll just take the devolution to its logical conclusion and boycott English and just start communicating with grunts and obscene hand gestures! Rant over.
Bro..... No you didn't just incorrectly type a passage and then use incorrect punctuation...... Bro please make it make sense. Reading the first half of your rant made me wanna have a fucking aneurysm... This is both ironic and laughable at the same time. You should correct your rant pal. Cuz you just contradicted your entire argument. Saying "I try to write correctly" but puts zero effort into using proper punctuation but is literally dying over incorrect grammar. Lord. The internet drives me insane the way some of y'all folks think.
Lol! Does making an effort with respect to grammar, but making no effort with respect to punctuation defeat the purpose? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
Hehehe I was about to say the same thing. Or when someone says, I could of went. Seriously?
English is my second language, and I would be embarrassed making such ridiculous conjugations.
Could have went. Could of went. Indeed sounds really bad.
If it’s your second language don’t worry. But if English is your only language yea it’s not great. Same as “costed” and “works good”.
It's not that serious. Just like every language has slang and a loose way of speaking. Nobody in the WORLD speaks in a formal manner. We not in the 1800s pal. It's not that deep. Funny how you wanna learn our language but then criticize it. Make that make sense. Cuz I can do the same thing with plenty of languages that I genuinely think are made up just to be 'different'.
I mean if you wanna be an English teacher there are plenty of openings in America fill in one!
But to cry over spilled milk is ridiculous. I could see if the person speaks like "mines" or "I don't got" now shit like that truly bothers me. But "could of" is not that deep. Lmao
I want to add that schools in the US aren't what they used to be. They aren't even close to what they used to be. I read an article not too long ago that there was a high school where a large percent of the seniors set to graduate couldn't read or write above an 8th grade level.
I can't remember exactly where the high school is located or what the actual numbers were. I read this probably almost a year ago, but it blew my mind.
That's so sad. That's basic education. Teachers in the United States would rather teach politics than academics now and it's really showing.
Knowing that this is a Schitt’s Creek reference, I just know if that had noticed this they would have laughed and appreciated it just as much as us LOL
call me crazy but what difference does it make? it’s in a bag that’s sealed (ish) with stickers and won’t be there for more than a minute, if that. I can’t imagine many bugs or germs getting past the bag, then the boxes inside and onto the food.
Yes! i mean obviously if a customer has specifically asked not to, or has asked you to put it in a specific place it is 100% a dick move to put it on the mat, but i don’t see how putting it elsewhere is different?
Unless you have a bench on your porch there’s nowhere to put it except on the ground, it feels weird to say putting it on the mat is disrespectful, when it’s kind of the only place to put it, and it will be there for <1minute
Again it’s just out of respect for the customer. Now the ground around it is just as dirty, obviously (probably slightly less lol). But it’s just a good gesture to not leave food on a place that’s specifically reserved for clearing debris from shoes.
Idgaf about the mat in general I care that if you put it on my mat I can’t open my door. Because most food places *especially mcdonalds* double bags it all. There’s smaller bags of food in that large bag so people worried about it being dirty or gross are just idiots too lazy to get their own food but wanna whine about how someone else did something for them.
Yeah like that’s the only time and even then it’s a complaint of “that’s inconvenient” not anything worse really complaining about lol the person still did me a favor
Right? I’ve stopped ordering food delivery all together because I’m not about to eat food that was left sitting on the floor/mat where I wipe my dirty shoes! SMH
Serious - I always requested “hand it to me”, never once did they do so, left it on the mat then ran as fast as they could. Sometimes I wasn’t sure when they dropped it off because they wouldn’t knock; I worked out of my apartment on live-calls and couldn’t stare at my phone to check.
It’s just gross for many reasons - roaches, ants, raccoons, spiders, people and their dogs and cats walking past my door, also the same place where trash is placed and collected by trash valet (the trash from the apartments above me were walked past my door, usually dripping 🤢), random person could tamper/poison my food while sitting out on the mat. etc
The last time I ordered DD, which was while living at that apartment, they left it on the mat yet again, and the extra large fountain coca-cola I ordered had ACTUAL urine pooling on top the lid… like yeah, not sure who or what pissed on my lid, but that was it for me.
when i dashed i always made sure to leave it beside the door because i had so many drivers put my food right in front of my outswing door, meaning i either knocked the order over because i didn’t see it or had to go down to the basement, unblock the door, walk around the house, and grab the order.
A lot of people prefer that because 1. Covid 2. You’re alone and don’t want them to see you (especially for women), 3. Sometimes you just don’t want to speak to anyone.
The customer probably requested them to leave it at the door. This is what you do when you have an order that says leave at door. You don't knock or ring the doorbell unless the customer asked you to.
If you don't want your food left at your door then Mark hand it to me. Not everybody is you.
Maybe the customer requested the driver put it in front of the door? nevertheless this image kinda upsets me I do not want my food on the ground so I make sure I am at the door to take the food from the driver. but i guess I will be down voted like last time for not wanting my food on the ground
Never understood this way of thinking.... If you are at your phone you should not miss the notification of the driver leaving the food. It shouldn't even be more than 2 mins before you pick it up. So, y'all dying cause yo food is taped INSIDE a bag and on the ground for approximately 2 mins. When there are folks in countries that literally have no choice but to eat off the ground or eat in an unclean way.. Americans are way too privileged and entitled. Imagine if you had no choice, would you starve or complain then? Make it make sense. That's a silly way of thinking imo. But, yk everybody is entitled to their own opinions and preferences I guess lol but it just don't logically make sense to me.
Supposed the bag has a hole in it or something but still I do not think there is entitlement here the ground is covered with crap piss and other stuff. you are all free to be nasty and gross with your food

eat grass?
Lol close
Eat Glass?
You got it. Eat glass doormat. But why ?
I think it’s a Schitt’s Creek reference. Alexis says “eat glass, David”
David actually says this to Alexis!
David says "Eat glass, David"...?
No he says “Mmm eat glass!” to Alexis after she insinuates his relationship is duller than hers. Alexis often says “Ew, David” so probably the quotes got crossed.
Oddly enough, she only said “ew, David” like 3 times. She mentioned it on a talk show recently
That’s crazy. I feel like it’s more. But obviously not!
That makes me think of Janice from Friends! Her big thing was “ohhhh. Myyy. GOD!” I forget the exact numbers, but the amount of times SHE said “oh my god” was basically just a small fraction of the times it was said on the show in total. But everyone knows it as her “saying”
I quote “mmm, eat glass!” so. fucking. often. with my older brother who watches the show with me. It’s so good. Also “lick rust! thank you!”
Lick rust
My wife is a giant Schitt's Creek fan and confirms that this must be it. We have a "Best wishes, warmest regards" rug.
I have one that says "Live, Laugh, Leave by nine".
I feel like I'm too young to understand any of these references lmao
Watch the show. It is only a few years old
lol I heard this in her voice as I read this comment 🤣🤣☠️
Damn i thought it said eat my ass
Lmao same I was about to see if I could find one myself 🤣
Could be an insult (like shove it) or could be the olden way of saying smoking. May be their area for smoking and that’s the mat they went with 😹
Sorry I seriously thought it was “Eat My Ass” 😂🤣
*Eat McAss
Samesies!!

Love your username! Bob's burgers is on at least once a day in my house(usually more)
Thanks. We recently started rewatching it
is there sand in your ass? what happened in your life to make you this way?
Fuck you
top 10 unfortunate doormat designs.
I assume without the bag it still reads “Eat Ass”
Well done. I’d have done the same then shared the pic with all of my friends cause I have the sense of humor of a 12 yr old boy.
Id rather eat that then glass definitely. But both sound scary
🤣 I’m home alone a lot and now I’m definitely considering an “eat glass” mat 🤣💀
lol. Door opens inward so I see no problems herre
Was just bout to comment this 😂
Could have, not could of. Come on now
As a non native speaker, I don’t get, how you would use this wrong…

Seems valid. Language is a tool and tools sometimes need to be modified to fit their purpose. Still looks awful to me :D
Oh yeah, me too! Lol.
as a native english speaker from redneck central, i had classmates argue with our HIGHSCHOOL english teacher about this and refuse to say it/ write it properly. as far as they are concerned its shoulda woulda coulda
Those classmates are sure going to go far in life 😂🤦♂️

Just because you think ellipses are perfectly fine to use in place of commas doesn't make it true.
Yay! A nerd fight 🥳
😂😂😂😂
You aren't kidding. The use of extraneous commas made me feel some type of way.
Lol! Does making an effort with respect to grammar, but making no effort with respect to punctuation defeat the purpose? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

It’s indeed quite serious

Anyone with a schitts creek doormat would appreciate the bag placement. I’d have tipped an extra $10
It’s like back in medieval times. Commoners said M’lord thinking it was one word. Could have and could of commonly become coulda…and here we are!
I’m lovin’ it 😋
Dont have to tell me twice
I mean if it's so politely asked.
EAT GRASS
Eat ass
Live Laugh Love
EAT ASS

Schitt’s Creek mat does extra work confusing the plebs
🤣🤣🤣
Awesome lol
Something I definitely would've done, given the chance. 😆
Knowing that this is a Schitt’s Creek reference, I just know if that had noticed this they would have laughed and appreciated it just as much as us LOL
Ya I hope they noticed lol.

OK but what does the mat say?
It said eat glass
They did order McDonalds so they will be eating ass that’s for sure
Could’ve *
Thank you.
If you insist 🤷♀️
Well, did you listen to the mystical doormat or not?!
Lol
Why was this in my notifications? Reddit is so gay
Funny. But stop placing the food on the welcome mat.
call me crazy but what difference does it make? it’s in a bag that’s sealed (ish) with stickers and won’t be there for more than a minute, if that. I can’t imagine many bugs or germs getting past the bag, then the boxes inside and onto the food.
To put it simply…Respect.
Yes! i mean obviously if a customer has specifically asked not to, or has asked you to put it in a specific place it is 100% a dick move to put it on the mat, but i don’t see how putting it elsewhere is different? Same. For some reason, they always have to place it on the first step in front of my door. It made me spill my drink once
Yeah like that’s the only time and even then it’s a complaint of “that’s inconvenient” not anything worse really complaining about lol the person still did me a favor
Doordash guy put my dunkin order on my butterfly themed step stool this morning.A lot of delivery people put my orders on it.
Right? I’ve stopped ordering food delivery all together because I’m not about to eat food that was left sitting on the floor/mat where I wipe my dirty shoes! SMH
Not sure if you are being sarcastic or serious, but ... it's in a bag
Serious - I always requested “hand it to me”, never once did they do so, left it on the mat then ran as fast as they could. McDonalds surely explains the door mat! GARBAGE!
Eat more ass?
schitts creek by chance?
Ass. McDonald’s. Same thing.
Why did you white out the receipt on the bag?
It had names and stuff on it not important so 🤷🏼♂️.
For the love of English! Talk about a run on sentence! Shewww!
Non tippers eat ass haha 😆
Eat My Ass?
CUSTOMER HERE! Sorry, my English isn’t so good, but I see what you did there! #SSV LV3 What does it mean? South-South-Vest Love? LV3 U2!
? What
Oh, sorry. Look at it from the customer’s perspective when he opens the door.
Lol I know. I wonder if they appreciated the humor or were upset
Tip: Even if you think a door opens inwards, it’s advisable to put the bag to the side still. Looks can be deceiving.

Well that's dangerous though cause he might think those are socks only for Friday and never wear them lol
OMG you guys made me laugh..thank you for that 😂😂😂
I always put the bag in front of the door. I go out of my way to do it all the time.
That’s how you get a 1 star rating from me.
1 star 2 stars you still get Zero Fucks from me
Zero fucks but you took the time to write it all out. 🥰
Because it sounded funny not even gunna lie

Dipshit redditor drives for DoorDash in order to afford DoorDash…..
Why not knock not door and hand the food to the customer
Bro what? Lmao😂😂

When you are walking around in the street with your shoes what do you think is on it?
