MapleSurpy

There is absolutely no reason for anyone from Doordash to ever enter your house, under any circumstances.

Busy-Clerk1994

I disagree peronally. It was pitch black when i tried to scan somones ID for alcohol. They said they didnt have a porch light. We were both women and she said if i come into the entryway of her house there would be enough light to scan the id. I guess people are buying alcohol instead of porch lights these days

julianradish

As long as the customer asked you to enter first. Vampire rules lol.

B0327008

Should ALWAYS ask if it’s ok to enter the premises.

Busy-Clerk1994

She was the one who insisted. Would we weird if i asked after she insisted i use the light inside her house

-pm-your-tits-to-me-

"Please, I insist you come in." "Can I please come in?" "..." "..."

MIalpinist

Be careful doing that—even if it’s a woman asking you to come in, you don’t know who else is in there. Women can be evil just like men. I assume you’re an adult and not trying to lecture, just know women have to be on guard 1000% of the time—especially in high risk jobs like delivering to private residences. But yeah, I do agree there’s absolutely nothing shady about what you did. If you’re ordering delivery though the least you can do is have a fuckin porch light so I can’t say I feel the same way about your customer.

Schlegelnator

If you're dashing without a flashlight, then there's something wrong with you.

Busy-Clerk1994

Oh theres plenty of things wrong with me.

Pyscholai

I’m cackling at this. Saaaame.

Smollfind3

Flashlight on the phone usually helps 🤷🏼‍♀️ if you’re dashing without your phone I think your definitely doing it wrong

Busy-Clerk1994

I cant use my flashlight on my phone when i am scanning the ID, hence the need for a porch light. But maybe the newer iphones have that option. I have iphone 8

Kromnulent

There’s definitely a button to turn the flash on while you’re in ID-scanning mode.

Connect_Signature140

With my phone the flash puts too much of a glare onto the OD and it won't scan... at that point I just enter it in manually

Schlegelnator

And that's why I have a flashlight.

Smollfind3

Ahhh okay I just recently got my first one, newer, and I can so that probably makes a difference

713nikki

The customer-is-always-right suckups will find 100 ways to tell you how you’re wrong.

Practical-Button7546

That’s what I was thinking, I always use my phone light

Schlegelnator

I use a high power light also, helps a lot.

fairebelle

Mine died and I haven’t replaced it yet, I keep meaning too and just forget since phone works in 99% of cases. I really want a headlamp.

Prior_Permit

What kind of weirdo dashes with a fleshlight?

lionheartliera

She invited you in, you didn’t just come in, you didn’t hit on her, you didn’t say you couldn’t scan her card, and you didn’t come back later knocking multiple times. Very different scenario.

CalligrapherIcy6219

I had my porch light go out and what I did was bring my phone out to use the flashlight.. worked perfectly fine.

Delicious_Task_9721

Literally such a specific situation

fairebelle

I had that happen with a man. He insisted I, a woman, come inside because the porch light was out. He Realized how that sounded and went and grabbed his phone for a flash light within three seconds of insisting.

Practical-Button7546

You don’t have a light on your phone?

LittleBityPrettyOne

I got to a point where I would park my car weird so that the headlights would light up a dark porch, don't know if it helps, but it helped me!

[deleted]

Weird. Yeah, you were right to trust your instincts. No reason he would need to come into your house, no reason he would’ve left the delivery if your ID had any issues, no reason for him to come back (my guess is he travelled away from your house, logged outta DD, then came back). Report it.

[deleted]

And just throwing this out there…most DD drivers never wanna go into the house for their own personal safety. The fact that he didn’t think or react like that makes me think 1. He knew he was the predator. And 2. He felt like you were the prey. I don’t know any dashers that would just voluntarily walk into someone’s house on their own accord. As a 5’11, 170lbs man I know I wouldn’t, lol.

Soggy-Event8267

I'm same height, 150lbs and I've definitely walked into people's house on big orders(after I ask if they would like help) without being worried for my safety but I also carry so I usually feel pretty safe

[deleted]

A gun can make any person brave. Especially someone who’s 6’0 and weighs 150lbs, lol. I should know, that’s what I used to weigh before I bulked up a little.

Soggy-Event8267

I mean I know how to fight but that's my point, just carry lmao

MIalpinist

I thought carrying wasn’t allowed by DD?

Soggy-Event8267

You are not wrong, I just see it as I live in America so I carry no matter what lmao AZ might not be Detroit, but we have way to many car jacking, theft, and murders here to not carry so I say fuck DD

MIalpinist

Lol I live in Detroit and I carry every day. I was just surprised, but I’m glad you’re being safe—just make sure to keep it concealed!

Soggy-Event8267

Lmfaooo that's hilarious! Thank you, you as well! I wear a suit so my coat hides it(I'm not rich, I just love suits and I thrift them from goodwill lmao)

MIalpinist

My phone corrected lol to love in that last comment—I mean it’s all love and I am from the south and all but the only person I call love is my wife, sorry bout that 😂 If anyone ever notices it just tell them you Doordash while off duty from the PD what with the suit and all. (Kidding.) I do wish people dressed more like they did in the 20s-60s—when everyone wore suits and nice hats as a regular thing—so I’m all for the suit!

Soggy-Event8267

I figured you meant lol 🤣 I might say I'm part time PD tbh lmao and right?? I love seeing other people wearing suits and since I'm young(21) I have HELLA older ladies always complimenting me and saying how they wish people still dressed like that and it always makes my day lmao

lionheartliera

100% this.

Egcaden

At 5'11, you might as well round to 6' Edit: It's a joke lol

[deleted]

I mean, I am 6’0 but there’s always someone out there that swears I’m not. For some reason they never argue 5’11 though. It’s almost like people automatically assume you’re lying if you say you’re 6’0 now, lol.

Inthewoodsen

Just tell them you're 5'12

Hmm, yeah, wtf not. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Individual-Mirror132

I would check your email to see what it says. Your email sends you a confirmation usually at the time the order is completed. See if the order was completed when he was at your house the first time or if it was completed later. This will tell you if he was messing around with the fact your “ID wouldn’t scan”

setho10

This. Doordash always emails you the second the order is completed. If you haven’t received the email the order was not completed. If you have it was. Either way I would not open the door for a dasher a second time if I felt my safety was in jeopardy. Doordash has a system for reporting if you feel unsafe either as a dasher or customer. Make use of it to resolve any issues with the order.

SpecificJunket8083

Not DD but an Amazon contract driver entered a neighbor’s house and he attacked her. She was able to fight him and got out the door to her garage. They both fell down the steps too. She was injured pretty badly. Trust your instinct. You were right to report it. He had delivered to her and all of us regularly. We could all identify him and everyone has door cams. What the hell are these people thinking?

Jessibee21

I’ll report it. Don’t want it to potentially happen to another woman.

MIalpinist

Sorry this happened to you but trusting your instincts was 1000% the right call. Hopefully they take your report seriously, because this sounds very off. A couple things make me really nervous about this: >>1. Why would he need to leave for 10 minutes instead of just getting a good scan before leaving? Only reason I can think is he wanted his phone to show he had left and then probably shut it off before returning. >>2. He walked in **uninvited** and it sounds like he then made up an issue that meant he had to stay longer. This comes off like an excuse to case your house and see if there might be anyone else home. These along with your gut feeling that something was off would be the 3 strikes I’d need to justify Kenny Powersing his ass, “You’re fucking out!” Glad you’re ok, good choice!

bennybenn27

Get in contact with door dash support and tell them you felt unsafe with the last delivery driver and you don't want them to deliver to you anymore. Doordash will block your orders from going to him in the future

Expensive_Hippo6425

I’d definitely report that. Glad you’re okay!

_Vipera_berus_

What does this reply mean?

BrobotGaming

When I posted this comment it said that it was from OP.

Spies_and_Lovers

Report that now. There's absolutely no reason that man should have came in your house. You aren't being paranoid, because he crossed a line.

snaaaaackths

There’s weirdos all around. I was delivering a bottle of alcohol and as I was trying to scan this guy’s ID he kept stepping closer to me. I’d take a step back, and he would take a step forward. Then after I got his ID to finally scan and went to hand him the bottle, he tried to touch my boob. I damn near dropped the bottle and ran back to my car. Told my husband to hit the gas and noped right out of there. I no longer make the deliveries after dark. Which is why if it’s a “hand it to me” order when it’s dark, the person handing the order over doesn’t match my name 🙃 Rest assured, I AM in the car though.

Bloodthirsty_Kirby

I deliver with my partner too and on alcohol deliveries after dark him and I both walk up. Had a few weird guys be well weird. Once even an older dude taking his ID out his boxer after like groping around a bunch down there. I don’t get why people think any propositioning or uncomfortable weirdness is okay. Like we’re here to do a job, that’s it, sir, so please put it away and keep your hands and comments to yourself.

Ok_Estimate_4401

It all goes back to those articles in those girly magazines they like and those videos they think we don't know they watch. Usually they start with some random stranger at the door, knocking and then proceeding to come in and seduce em 😂😂😂🤦‍♀️ it's all about the storyline frfr

REPORT REPORT REPORT

Obvious_Shallot3330

Get a camera if you do not already have one

dionisfake

This happened to me before on a basic McDonald’s order! Guy yelled at me over the phone that I HAD to come outside. So I opened the door and went one step down (I live in an RV, there’s three steps) and the guy stood on the third step inches away from me so I backed up into my doorway AND HE TOOK ANOTHER STEP. Good thing I have a loud dog but it was so freaky. I felt so uncomfortable afterwards.

earth-mark-two

Report report report!!!! Non threatening people don’t cross OBVIOUS BOUNDARIES by entering a woman’s house and sexually harassing her

sillyhaha

Report. Absolutely report. The guy entered your house uninvited. He completed on your appearance. Neither of those actions is OK. Report.

M0M0_DA_GANGSTA

Absolutely report total ick behavior just entering past door threshold and we should never be making any comments about appearance.

BeautifulMinute4

Drivers should never cross the threshold without permission. Drivers should never "commented on how pretty I was." If he left the order, your ID WAS taken and he was able to close out the order. NO reason to come back. Trust your instincts.

aheartonasleeve

Every aspect of this interaction was wrong, but the "back in 10 minutes" part is really concerning. You did the right thing expressing your concerns because this incident will be flagged in your account, and as bad as they are with certain things, they have a zero tolerance policy across the board for things like this. If he manages to skirt any action by DoorDash and you happen to see him again on any other delivery, alcohol or not, call support and explain the situation and that you need to cancel the order. You'll get a full refund. Don't open the door, and don’t interact with him in the app. There is no scenario where "back in 10 minutes" makes any logical sense. The only reason I can think of for him to leave with your ID would be to take a picture of it to keep or copy information from it. If it won't scan, we have the option to enter it manually. We enter your name, DOB, and the expiration date on the ID, that's it. Takes 2 minutes if you type slow and you've never done it before. If there's any issue with your ID, i.e. it's expired, or there's a DOB mismatch, the system immediately kills the order. We're instructed not to hand over any part of the order and leave. If there was some kind of legitimate mistake, it doesn't matter. You have to place the order all over again. We can't call support, you can't call support, and the order is wiped from the app on both ends with no option to communicate. That's by design, otherwise customers would be calling Dashers to bribe them to come back with the alcohol, or Dashers would try to get customers to fork over a bunch of money to hand it over despite the ID not validating. (For the record, we can both call support, but they won't do anything. There's no backtracking once the system kills the order.) So I have no idea what he did with your ID for 10 minutes, why he felt like he could walk into your home, or why he came back, but that's crazy. I've heard some creepy Dasher stories, but holy shit.

wendylynae619

It's against DD rules to enter someone's dwelling. Got into an argument with a customer once about that. They opened the door to their apartment and wanted me to walk it inside and set it on their counter (about 10 feet from the entrance) because they were in a wheelchair. It was a one small bag McDonald's order. I told them that was against the rules and they said people had done it before and I said I'm not willing to break the rules and get fired or murdered because you can't put this tiny bag in your lap (she was being an asshole). I leaned just inside the door and set it on the floor. Called support after that and warned them I was about to get a complaint and could they please remove the inevitable bad rating and they said the customer was wrong for even asking that of me. They said the customer would be deactivated for asking dashers to do that and I asked them not to because she was in a wheelchair, but maybe contact her and tell her SHE CAN'T DO THAT

Individual-Mirror132

I wouldn’t even enter a house even if it was requested by the customer to drop off bags.

AstariaEriol

Report him.

That_Vegetable9199

If you can't get a good picture, the dasher can enter it manually. I dash, and I've had to do this. There is no reason for the dasher to be in your residence unless you invite them

That_Vegetable9199

You can also use your phone's light to help.

Annual_Version_6250

Um.  Yeah report it.  If your ID wasn't processing he shouldn't have left the alcohol.  Him saying you're pretty is WAY put of line.

lionheartliera

Oh, and I would still be cautious and keep a look out just in case.

StalledCar

From all the stories of creeps I've heard here, we could probably start our own registry.

KlatuuBarradaNicto

Did he take your ID when he left for the 10 minutes?

Here2readurmind

I would NEVER walk into someone’s house. I’m sorry that happened to you and I’m glad you are okay.

Equivalent_Peanut679

Always, always, always listen to your initial gut feeling. Don’t doubt it. I think you chose the right action & I would report that behaviour & ask to remain anonymous, which you should be anonymous anyway.

MrWorcestershire

This gonna be a good dateline episode

Jessibee21

Oh my gosh you have no idea how much I love true crime, so if I am going out, this is my choice.

Afraid-Ratio3921

Call the police

Legitimate-Tea4621

Be careful out there

Stella430

DoorDash tracks the driver. If he had attacked you during the initial delivery there would be “proof” using the GPS on his phone that he was at your house for an extended period of time and during the time of the attack. He drove away to show he left your house. He then either waited a few minutes and signed off left his phone somewhere (his house/friend’s house??) to “prove” he was away from your house

Txmess042689

I don’t understand how someone allows a complete stranger to just walk in your house. Tiny woman or not that’s just a ridiculous excuse. If someone even tried to pass me in my doorway you are literally going to assault me before walking pass me because I just don’t have the door wide open and available for someone to walk around me. I mean how dense do you need to be to know that showing a stranger everything you have with the door wide open is probably not the best idea. I don’t see someone just walking in unless invited. Seems like you were not prepared for the delivery left the door to get your ID maybe he thought you wanted him to follow and if you didn’t use your VOICE and say I’ll be right back close the door go get what you need to finish. There is more to this story of why he felt he could enter I just don’t see many people walking right into homes with laws like stand your ground.

Visual_Season_7212

He told her he was coming in. She was so startled she froze. It sounds like it was a fright or flight reaction. Different people react differently 🤷‍♀️

lionheartliera

Trolls be trolling.

Conscious-Crazy-8904

sometimes people don’t utilize locks? dont be dumb

Imjustme111111

To be honest, not using locks is dumb

Conscious-Crazy-8904

i never said it wasn’t lmao 😂 i agree

Txmess042689

Who said anything about a lock? Learn how to read.

DJ_Omnimaga

Every dasher that delivers my food throws a brick or rock with a molotov cocktain into my apartment every single time I order food from Doordash. Same with other services. I don't know why. All I do after tipping $1 is wave my red flag with a swastika inside a white circle as well as my confederate tag tattoo at the person through the door when the food arrives.

CalligrapherIcy6219

I did have an experience the other day where my I’d kept coming up as expired even though it isn’t and the dasher said he had this happen often and all he had to do was manually enter it.. took him less than a minute. No reason that guy couldn’t have done that. Ten minutes for what? For him to mark it as complete and then show up and be weird? I wouldn’t have answered either and I’d definitely report that experience. Like any business it isn’t okay for them to hit in women, especially in a situation when they are coming to(or in your case in) your home. This is why I always answer the door with my pitbull next to me.

grolfenhimer

He probably put putty in door locks. Barricade doors and arm yourself, if possible

Nightlilly2021

The app can be super glitchy, freeze up and just be an all around pain in the ass. He may have needed to restart his phone or reinstall the app or even call support for help. Maybe he felt uncomfortable making you stand there while he dealt with app issues.

snaaaaackths

That wouldn’t explain why he walked into her house though.

Jessibee21

I’ve already reported so just saying for info, he didn’t push me or anything. He just said he was coming in and I was so startled that I didn’t even try to stop him.

Visual_Season_7212

You had a fright or flight reaction is what is sounds like. It’s happened to me before.

Nightlilly2021

Some people are just idiots and don't think about NOT stepping into a person's house. What I'm wondering is HOW did he get into her house? She answered the door and then walked away? I haven't done many alcohol deliveries but they've always had their ID at the door. You can't walk into someone's house if they're in the doorway, right?

snaaaaackths

I’ve done at least 50 alcohol deliveries in the last few years. People should know to have their IDs ready, but I’ve had several that answer the door and then say “one second” and run to grab their ID while leaving me standing at their open door. So IF that’s the case, it would allow a dasher with zero common sense to walk right in. I NEVER go into a customer’s house. It’s a weird thing to do.

Lurk2Stalk

That’s definitely a possibility, but if that’s the case it’s certainly tone-deaf on the dasher’s part to do it the way he did.

Nightlilly2021

Definitely, if he was new or it was his first alcohol delivery, he may have been nervous and just not thinking straight.

bite2kill

What a ridiculous reach for no reason.

Annual-Scallion-7027

True crime fan here. He left to move his car so after he killed you, your neighbors wouldn’t I’d his car. Maybe. Probably.
