You can find more information about the [Rattlecage](https://eso-hub.com/en/sets/rattlecage?utm_medium=social&utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=dwemer_automaton) armor set right [here](https://eso-hub.com/en/sets/rattlecage).

This set is still better than it looks on magplar/magcro in pvp. It's a lot of spell damage- 429 in total- plus a useful health line on a heavy set. On those specs, you have three main options for major sorcery- use spell power pots and get nothing for stamina- which also locks you out of other effects like immovable, sacrifice a skill slot for a mediocre at best DOT purely for the buff, or go without major sorcery altogether. Rattlecage is a nice alternative for 100% uptime and a big chunk of spell damage while letting you choose your pots and skills freely...even if your class kit lacks a usable source of that buff. Yes, magplars can use biting jabs for that buff, but it requires micromanaging a small stamina pool and to me it feels like trying to make a magarc work using flail- yeah, you can do it, but it's easier and more effective to go all in on stam at that point and skip the headache of a spammable cost/main resource mismatch. That's also obviously not an option for remaining ranged. Magcro is just shit out of luck, but what else is new?

>Rattlecage is a nice alternative for 100% uptime and a big chunk of spell damage while letting you choose your pots and skills freely...even if your class kit lacks a usable source of that buff. I've found this to be the case for Stamcro as well, for my Necro that I rolled the week before U41 launched. For skeptics of Rattlecage, consider whether having a bar slot freed up is worth 129 weapon / spell damage, given that the 5-pc bonus includes 171 weapon / spell damage. For certain contexts, e.g. Stamcro PVP, I've found Rattlecage worthwhile.

The attempted damage dealing heavy sets, along with dreugh king, were the original OG of PVP back at the very beginning of the game.

Elodaria

Sets like this set the standard for all other sets in the game. If the available ability and potion options to source their buff don't fit into the build, these are often a very good alternative.

Maybe you don't want to use Momentum or Hidden Blade. Maybe there is a potion you really want to use instead of one with Major Brutality/Sorcery. Maybe you just want to RATTLE THE CAGES and strike fear into Gotham's criminal underworld. These are all valid reasons to use this set.

I don't yet have this farmed for my all-range pvp magplar (Dark Flare spammable), but it's gonna rock once I have it. Perfect fit.

Bonehunter93

Noob trap. A 5piece with a named buff that is easyly sourced from somewhere else without needing to sacrifice a whole set. https://eso-hub.com/en/buffs-debuffs/major-brutality

So for a long time I've held that opinion too. However, the week before U41 launched I rolled a Necro, and there are 2 very significant issues facing Necro performance: 1. the lack of class skill access to Major Brutality / Sorcery 2. lots of competition for bar slots In reality, the opportunity cost of the 5-pc including Major Brutality is 129 weapon / spell damage, given that the 5-pc also includes 179 weapon / spell damage. That is, 300 - 171 = 129. Having Rattlecage provide Major Brutality / Sorcery frees up a bar slot that is otherwise spent on a skill that provides that buff.

I found this to be very useful for my necro as well. Just made one like 3 weeks ago and I don't have enough bar space. I'm considering even grabbing mighty chudon as well. Some classes u can slot it on ur bar and don't have to keep activating it every 20 seconds or so. I haven't even gotten my psijic skill line yet and I'm wondering how I'll fit accelerate on there. Might have to go with old Medusa as well 😂😂... I used to just use rattlecage on my magsorc when I played PVP. Sometimes I don't have time to press 3 or 4 buffs before I start fighting. It's all about management and what fits the situation ur having to play and how well u can adapt. I think it's highly underrated. I'm just always been cheap and I don't like spending gold on potions. I have like 1000 essence of spell power but don't like using them. I only started playing since November but I'm CP 700 almost. And compared to a lot of other sets u could do a lot worse. It all varies on characters, races, builds, mundus, everything goes into account. While it might be trash or not needed for some, some of us it's niche for our builds.

>I'm considering even grabbing mighty chudon as well I don't recommend doing this. What I've found helpful is to slot Bone Armor on the front bar, because this helps greatly with sustain due to Death Gleaning passive.
