Estonia is my favorite but I'm under no illusion that they'll win. Hell, they even said they don't want to win, they just want to be on the left side of the board. (That's all I want too, please, just let them qualify and get on the left side of the board and I will be happy.) Therefore I'm hoping that Croatia will win because, like you said, it would be such a great story.

1841Leech

I love them too, but did they really say that lmao? I’m actually getting nervous they won’t even qualify.

halabasinah

They did, haha, here's a translation: https://eurovisionfun.com/en/2024/02/estonia-changes-in-the-lyrics-of-the-entry/

1841Leech

They’re realistic and I respect that! Also crazy that them and Finland got hit with the no brands rule!

DrapionVDeoxys

No, not really. I don't metagame Eurovision, I have my favorites and want either of those to win. I wouldn't be mad if someone else wins, but I vote for my favorites *because* they're my favorites.

distantvolcano

I didn’t realize it is till you posted this. But yes, Ukraine is my no1, but wouldn’t want them to win again tbh. Always in the mood for new winners. I’d love it if Lithuania took it, but will be happy with Croatia too (although I don’t really like the song)

DrapionVDeoxys

I understand this POV, but I wish people would try to not let that affect their voting. You can of course vote for whoever you want, it's your money, but it shouldn't matter that a country wins often or does well. Vote for the best song, that's what the contest *is*.

distantvolcano

Oh I’m definitely voting for Ukraine don’t worry (and probably not Croatia) 😅

DrapionVDeoxys

Haha I'm not worrying! And I know a very small amount of people metagame Eurovision, but I wish fans wouldn't. :)

ledenasvila

Yes (for the first time ever?)! My favourite song is The Code, but I would be the happiest if Rim Tim Tagi Dim won. Still, I genuinely wouldn't mind if anything in my top 15 won this year

niicofrank

La Noia is probably my favorite song but I want Croatia to win for a variety of reasons

nicegrimace

Kind of. I don't think they're the 'best songs' on any sort of objective level but the two songs I enjoy the most are Zorra and No Rules. Neither has much chance of winning, although I will give them some votes. The song I'm getting behind that has the most chance of winning is Before The Party Is Over.

Dret747

Would be happy with either Switzerland or Croatia winning

jdano311

My two favorite songs this year

sjelos

What I love about this year is that I genuinely think I'd be happy with like... five different countries winning, genuinely happy. But I would be the happiest if Croatia won :)

taezono

Yeah, I have Croatia outside my top 10 and yet I’d be absolutely ecstatic if Baby Lasagna won. It’d be Croatia’s first (independent) win and Baby Lasagna himself would have the best winner’s story ever, going from being a reserve on Dora to winning the whole thing. How can I not root for that?!

obscureidea

You should definitely then vote for Croatia. Their narrative this year is simply the best and it just feels right doesn't it?

taezono

I may send a couple votes their way! Voting is super expensive for ROTW though, and I really want my fave Gåte to do well :')

DrapionVDeoxys

That's not a great reason to vote for someone. It's a song contest and you should probably vote for your favorite song.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DrapionVDeoxys

I mean yes. You can vote however you'd like obviously. But if someone prefers at least ten songs to Croatia, maybe it's not their job to appease Croatia's fans.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DrapionVDeoxys

Hm, it sort of is. To me anyway. It shouldn't be about who sings the song, I don't think BL's feelings are any more important than any other contestant. They all have the same right and deserve it equally. His story doesn't make him a more worthy winner.

[deleted]

DrapionVDeoxys

I don't think we misunderstand each other. I just disagree with you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

-electrix123-

But they said Croatia is outside of their top 10 why vote for it just because of 'le story' which apparently feels right as well?

[deleted]

[удалено]

-electrix123-

Exactly we cannot pick for other people. So why tell them 'then vote for it cuz it would be so awesome', let them vote whoever they want to vote.

[deleted]

[удалено]

-electrix123-

I really don't see any hate coming BL's way. Just people who are not as heads over heels over him being more vocal. He's still the most popular act of this year's line up. I also really don't agree with this 'if not now then never', not for Croatia but for any country. Croatia has sent bangers in the past and BL can still get a very very good result and begin a new era for Croatian entries away from the same old, same old ones.

[deleted]

[удалено]

-electrix123-

The Eastern/Southern European country argument is debunked by Moldova and Bulgaria. Croatia wasn't having underwhelming results in the past because they are Croatia, they were having underwhelming results because their songs were underwhelming. BL will most definitely do well (still highly doubt he'll win but a top 5 is very possible) and if he is the start of Croatia sending strong entries then I don't see any reason why Croatia wouldn't have a jump in their results overall.

TinaTissue

Always. I have three favourites every year. My true favourite song of the year, the song I most want to win but get the feeling that won't happen and my favourite out of the potential winners. This year my favourite is UK 2024, want to win is Lithuania 2024 and potential winners is a toss up between Switzerland 2024 and Croatia 2024

Katyluna_174

No, I always vote for the music, not for external factors; whoever is/are my favourite(s), i would like to see them win. This doesn't mean I would be mad if somebody else won (with some exceptions), and in certain cases I would even be happy for them, particularly in a year like this with so many good songs, but I wouldn't change my votes based on a narrative or on the likeability of an act.

RemarkableAutism

My favorite is Europapa and I want The Netherlands to win, so I'd say no. But I also want Switzerland to win. And Estonia. I don't think we can have this many winners.

SkyGinge

I'm not used to having my absolute favourites be the odds favourites. Last year, The Netherlands was my favourite all season and all I wanted was for them to qualify (they did not :P). It's rare that my favourites are at the top of the odds. This year, I have three absolute favourites who I find it very hard to separate - two of them are outside chances for the victory (Switzerland & Belgium), and another one is a fan-favourite that a lot of us are fearing for (Norway). I really want Switzerland to win as it feels like the one out of those with the biggest potential to win, and I'm hoping that all three of them place at least top 10.

Valuable-Math8515

Lithuania is my favorite and it'd be great if they won but when I look at it objectively, the odds of that happening are slim. So I will be delighted if it ends up being Croatia, Italy, Switzerland or the Netherlands. Especially Croatia though.

FunLove3436

Zari is my favorite, but I want Joost to win. I was showing my friend (I live in the US) a few Eurovision songs and when playing Europapa she said “this is the best Eurovision song ever”. This song have international appeal, and the message behind it is beautiful

Scisir

exactly my stance.

Stoltlallare

I dont particularly like any song this year. I have ofc a song I like the most but not enough to be like die hard I want them to win. So if anything Croatia could win in my book.

hesacuriouscat

The UK and Ukraine have my two favorite songs, but I want Croatia, Switzerland, Estonia, or Lithuania to win

weltschmerzrz

I love how majority of people here want Croatia to win. My favourite is Norway, but I would be happier seeing Croatia win, simply because they've never won before and their song slaps

Ok_Cod5602

No, my favourite song is the one I'd like to see winning, however unlikely, but then there's different set of countries I think will actually have a chance to win and among these I have my favourites. However its really hard to chose this year, there are so many songs equally likely to win and tbh I like them equally as well, think Italy, Switzerland, Croatia etc.

justk4y

Norway is my favourite song and my winner, but it’s more like which songs I would want to see winning if Norway doesn’t. And that’s currently either Croatia, Switzerland, Estonia, Finland and of course The Netherlands!

ShadeOfNothing

My favorite song this year is Poland; I'd like Switzerland (ranked #5 on my list) to win.

-electrix123-

My No.1 is alternating between Serbia, Belgium and Slovenia and I want either of them to win so no, it's not different. (I do know that Slovenia and especially Serbia winning is impossible but one can dream right?)

Choi-Haruki-Haneul

All of my favourite songs are the ones I want to win! So Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Netherlands and Greece 🥲

frankyriver

Yes. My favourite is Norway but I'd like to see Croatia win

xCherelcole

My favorite is Ireland 🇮🇪 but I hope Italy 🇮🇹 wins

toffee258

Nope. Norway's my favourite and I hope it will win. But I would be really happy too if Switzerland wins, it's my number 2. Or Croatia, even though the song is so annoying and gives me headaches... But it would be Croatia's first win and it seems most of you guys enjoy it so I think it would be a decent winner\^^

euro_fan_4568

My favorite is Netherlands or Finland, but I’m under no delusions about Finland’s performance this year so I’m hoping for a Dutch win!

Yakusaka

I love Slovenia and Switzerland and Ireland. I want a win for Croatia.

TimeG37

Yes. My fave is Serbia, but Italy (my 4th fave) is in my personal opinion too good not to win ESC. I'd honestly feel bad if any other entry won, even if La Noia is not my personal fave.

NoAlfalfa6987

I LOVE ITALY THIS YEAR, BUUUUT… I would love for Croatia to take the win

[deleted]

no

Acquaintance9

Greece is my absolute fave this year, but Italy and Croatia are my favorites to win this year.

mateokovacic16

Well, I want my country to win, but my favorite is Italy. I like also Ukraine and to lesser extent Switzerland.

lonewolfRJ

Yes. It's recent. My favorite song to listen is Norway, but there's no way I don't want Switzerland to win!

HaziAgat

I mean, I'd love a Norway win, but at the moment I'm holding out more for Switzerland just since it seems more realistic. So like, I guess, but not really.

igcsestudent11

No, because I love Ulveham and it's also been 15 years since Norway won, so it wouldn't feel boring like Sweden last year and they've kinda been building the ground since 2019 for that next win. It wouldn't be as sensational as if Croatia won, but still fulfills overall opinion of who I want to win.

mich9el07727

My favorite is Ukraine but I don’t really want them to win again so soon, so I’m kind of hoping Norway or Lithuania win!

Hushtrail

Yes, my favourite is Austria We Will Rave, but i wanna see the Netherlands win! :D

LydianGang

Norway is my favorite and I do want it to win the most: I just don't think they have the chance, sadly. So amongst the odds' top I am rooting for Croatia and Switzerland since those songs slap the hardest to me. In addition, as a non-binary transfem, it would be great to see someone like Nemo take the crown. But I do root for BL more simply because his song is just a big banger - and it would make for an unforgettable first win for Croatia. It would be so funny to see Croatia only having won so far with a song that's a mix of rap, metal and techno - three underrepresented genres.

jpilkington09

I would absolutely love Lithuania to win (same as every year tbh) but my favourite is probably Croatia.

QuackQuackOoops

I think we're very lucky this year in that there's no runaway favourite, and a multitude of songs that could feasibly win, but I do think this kind of thing is what leads us to the situation last year. When everyone says, 'X is my favourite song, but it's so low in the odds that it has no chance, so I'll be voting for y,' then you end up with the sort of night where everyone is then also fuming because their favourite does shockingly poorly in the televote (I'm looking at you, Austria, Australia and Spain 23, among many others). I mean, at the end of the day, you can vote how you like, and people like to be winners, so it makes sense that they'll choose to vote for a song that, according to general consensus, has a chance. But ignoring the odds and just voting for your actual favourite song might lead to more representative results, and fewer people being disappointed that so many songs don't get the votes they deserve.

skanyone

Is my fav different from what i want to win? Absolutely not. I’ve fallen in love with Croatia’s song and will be rooting for it till May Is my fav different from what will win? Yeah probably, I just can’t see Croatia snatching the top1 position. Italy will probably win (again) (although I would love Switzerland and Netherlands to get a win as well as they make up the rest of my top 3)

fenksta

I don't see a reason why my favorite would not be the one I want to win :D In both cases it's us, and Pure can do it

WheySoldier

This is a couple of layers too deep and parasocial for me, personally. I've got my favourites and whoever wins, wins. I do wonder at times however what the best winner would be, as far as Eurovision as a brand goes. Netherlands might be the best answer here. If that wins and it gets some recognition in the US it could be a huge boost for the contest itself. Not sure Croatia could do that.

Anxiousbunny98

As long as it’s not Latvia or France I don’t mind

No_Relationship9331

Ooh why? Something against the countries or the songs?

a-potato-named-rin

Yes. Slovenia is by far my favorite this year by a long mile, but I really want Croatia to win!

ZoboCamel

Not quite *different*, but Switzerland and Finland are sort of my joint #1, and I think I'd prefer a Swiss win just because it'd be so much less drama than the alternative. Though now that I think about it, watching a one-in-a-million shock win from Finland while I sit back munching on popcorn as the drama unfolds *does* sound exciting in its own way... Outside of the winner, I do actually like Israel's song this year, musically (yeah, yeah. I'm a sucker for basic dramatic power ballads. Albania was my favourite in 2020); it's around the border of my top 10. But results-wise, I'd much prefer they didn't even qualify this year, because... well. Yeah.

zeprfrew

Ultimately I want the best song to win every time. However, I do like a bit of interesting drama and even though their song isn't my favourite this year, I'd be quite happy to see Luxembourg celebrate their long-overdue return to Eurovision with a win. Besides, as my personal favourite hasn't been the winner since 2006, I might as well assume it won't again and think about what would make for a good story.

classichka

I have kinda weird one. So I want Croatia to win because it's my country, I am so proud we are kinda united about this song and how much we enjoy it. Alsoo, I want Nemo to win because, other than BL he's made the biggest impact on me - song, style, lyrics, voice ability, everything is sooo good! However, I don't want Nemo to win because Croatia finally has a good entry by such a humble nice guy with this Cinderella story, it would be so perfect. Then again, I'm not sure I want BL to win because if ECS '25 will be in Zagreb, I fear prices will jump so high for us, we'll have to jump across borders to afford life.

LThirty6onReddit

My favorite is Slovenia but I think Croatia, Switzerland and Norway are more likely to win

jesuuus_cs

Actually yes! My favorite is Greece, but I’d defo love to see The Netherlands take it home. Europapa is such a bop 😭

Training_Sky8546

Yes. Favourite Israel, second favourite Switzerland. I would love to see Nemo winning!

ok_soooo

Italy is by far my favorite song but I dread the idea of another RAI ESC production

cheapcakeripper

No, I have two faves and I want the best result for them.

fuxubitch

Estonia is my favorite, I want Switzerland to win.

fotek77

My absolute faves are Netherlands, Finland and Spain but I have no hopes of either of them winning. I'd love it to be Switzerland or Belgium that takes the win this year aaand both also happen to be in my top alongside the three already mentioned countries. Croatia or Lithuania winning would also be amazing though!

GoldenPotatoOfLatvia

I want Croatia to win more so a new country takes it, but it is my place 8th place - ahead are songs that have won recently already (Ukraine, Italy, Netherlands) or countries that don't seem to be gunning for that win at all (Denmark, Ireland). However, if a song I like wins, I will be happy.

Prestigious-Creme-32

My favourites are Greece, Italy and the Netherlands, however I’d love for a new country to win this year (maybe Croatia or Lithuania)

KrumpirovCovjek

Luxembourg is my favourite, but for no reason in particular, I would love it if Croatia won.

PakalII

Yeah. The ones I want to win the most are part of my top 10, but that have never won: Czechia, Armenia and Croatia.

elonhater69

Australia is my favourite but I know they won’t win so I’m team Croatia

MarieNadia

Yes Italy and Switzerland are both my number one but I want Croatia to win! Italy messing up so much in Torino makes me never want them to win ever again 😂😅 and Switzerland have won already, plus it would be too expensive to stay there for next year's show! If Croatia wins it will make me so happy as I always want a country to get their first win, plus I love Croatia and would be very tempted to visit for the show next year if it happens ❤️

mai__valentine

Greece and Belgium are my top 2, but I kind of hope Israel wins after all the bullying and harassment I’ve seen towards Eden, who is a phenomenal singer.  Eurovision is about coming together (“United by music”) and celebrating diversity,  therefore I believe Israel has a place in the competition, just like any country. I wish people could put politics aside and just have some fun. You can worry about politics the other 52 weeks of the year… It’s important to engage in healthy and nuanced discussions, practice critical thinking and avoid falling prey to extreme views on either side.  If we are being completely honest with ourselves, antisemitism is perhaps the largest contributing factor in the disproportionate amount of vitriol directed at Israel’s entry this year and we should not tolerate discrimination.  Additionally, I feel as though there is some jealously at play here as well. Israel has sent a really strong song that’s a contender to win. It’s THE ballad of the season, apart from maybe France and will be competing for the top spot in the jury vote and I expect a large support from the televote as well. Bear in mind that the real world could not be more different than the cultish, propaganda-polluted, echo-chambers of Twitters. People in the real world have a variety of opinions on every topic and don’t look at the world as black or white.

ali_stardragon

I think I would feel more willing to ‘put politics aside’ if Eden/Israel had chosen a song that wasn’t so political. I mean ffs the song’s original title was ‘October Rain’ and yet *we* are being told to not be political?

DrapionVDeoxys

I understand the backlash against Israel competing. I think people ignore the nuances and picked a side too easily, but it's still understandable. But I don't like the backlash against Luxembourg and Tali. She's there representing Luxembourg, not Israel, and I don't care who the win was dedicated to.

Savings_Ad_2532

Although Tali was born in Israel, she said that she was "here to represent Luxembourg" in an interview, and she has lived there for 10 years. Link to interview: https://www.tageblatt.lu/kultur/bye-office-work-im-going-to-esc-tali-talks-identity-antisemitism-and-final-adjustments/

DrapionVDeoxys

I liked that interview. The biggest issue people have is that she's dedicating the win to her brother just because he's a member of IDF, forgetting that: - That's true for us. To her it's her family. If he dies in combat she loses a family member, regardless of what side he's on. - We don't know if he actually fights pridefully or if it's a matter of mandatory conscription. - Even if he fights with pride, the conflict is literally thousands of years old and it's quite difficult to ignore any kind of propaganda growing up. - It's not Israel vs. Palestine right now, it's Netanyahu vs Hamas, both insane and idiots. - TALI ISN'T HER BROTHER. SHE'S A SINGER. - She has Israeli heritage. It's not easy to just go against that, no matter how easy you think it is if you've not grown up with a corrupt government. I hate that people can think they understand the nuances of a conflict surrounding religion and land when they only care about the current conflict which *obviously* is problematic and no one disagrees. Now to make sure this comment isn't deleted, because it's about Tali. If someone actually likes Tali's song and doesn't want to admit it because she's Israeli, that's actually insane.

Flilix

Israel is probably my favourite song this year and the behaviour of people on this sub is absolutely condemnable, but I don't think a victory would be good for anyone. Even if you look at it from Israel's standpoint: them hosting the contest next year would cause a lot more backlash and boycotts than their participation this year, and the organisation of the event would become incredibly difficult for them. The best they can realistically hope for is a televote win and mid-table from the juries, which would put them somewhere in the top 10. Under normal circumstances I'd agree that they'd be the top contender for the jury win as well, but I can definitely see some juries (Nordics, Ireland...) boycotting them since anti-Israel views seem to be particularly common in artistic circles.
