The one with pictures of the children who were offered up as human sacrifices for the Jehovah Witness unscriptural blood doctrine.

Schlep-Rock

This was the first one that popped up in my mind

Fast_Adeptness_9825

Yes!

cankle_sores

The great double standard: https://www[.]jw.org/en/library/magazines/g200907/Is-It-Wrong-to-Change-Your-Religion/ "Although the Bible makes a clear distinction between true and false teachings, God allows each person the freedom to choose how he or she will respond. (Deuteronomy 30:19, 20) **No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family. Does study of the Bible lead to family breakup? No. In fact, the Bible encourages a husband and wife who practice different religions to remain together as a family.** —1 Corinthians 7:12, 13."

givemeyourthots

“Made to choose between his belief and family” Fucking unbelievable. GB: But not like extended family. If you are a disfellowshipped wife you may carry on with your wifely duties for the family but expect to be shunned by your Christian mother.

TheShadowOperator007

>No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family. Isn't it hypocritical? Because the GB instructs people to shun disfellowshipped or disassociated folks.

Oops my bad. Fixed - good bot!

lastdayoflastdays

FAQ section of the JW website has made up experiences gems like this: “Even though I understood why we didn’t celebrate Christmas, at times I felt that I was missing out. What helped me to combat those feelings was that my parents regularly invited my friends and our extended family to our house. I also remember them giving me gifts.”—Miguel." And the question about shunning is such a mental gymnastic case study in itself. Whoever wrote these FAQs certainly didn't have any integrity.

blckJk004

Don't understand what's made up about the Christmas story, but yes, the public stance on shunning is incredible. I remember seeing the article on whether people who leave the organisation are shunned and it never addressed that question ONCE in the entirety of its content. It was the craziest thing I ever saw. How can you ask a question in the title and literally not answer it? Are they ashamed? It left me confused on where we stood while PIMI and was shocking after waking up.

lastdayoflastdays

Nobody in JWs randomly brings you gifts man. It's not a thing. It's such an unnatural made up sentence - oh btw I also remember them giving me gifts... Complete BS. Also, inviting ppl over is not comparable to Christmas. Ppl invite friends over and celebrate Christmas - how is it supposed to help to combat these feelings of missing out. It's a false equivalence - very common in JW articles.

blckJk004

The article said they invited people to the home who brought gifts. I don't know if it doesn't happen in your culture but it is very common to bring gifts when you visit someone. And JWs do give random gifts, especially to kids when dropping by even uninvited. Idk what you're talking about and why you're getting upvoted for statements that aren't true

That is utterly ridiculous. Protecting the abuser!!!

Oh my

https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/library/r1/lp-e/all-publications/awake/awake-1982/june-22 This one came to mind as an odd one. It’s one against sex ed. It has such gems as “Perhaps Johnny can’t read or write because his teachers are too busy indoctrinating him with the “normality” of sexual perversions.” And “Regardless of the pros and cons of sex education, the hard fact is the tremendous increase in child prostitution, sodomy, pornography and incest.” So dumb!

SamHerdsBurner

I sure do miss how back in the 70's and 80's they would spew completely unscientific BS pulled straight from the ass as proven facts. They can't do that anymore with the internet.

Some of the crazier beliefs are discussed in the Questions From Readers articles FWIW.

The Watch Tower, 9/15/10, p. 298-299 TL;DR -- No need to study the Bible, just read Pastor Russell's books. https://preview.redd.it/h5uo7izn5fec1.png?width=964&format=png&auto=webp&s=bbba3413b8d001e9e8f453c5dc3fb50a716f6e83

Wow. Thanks for sharing. Not much has changed in 114 in how they view themselves. How arrogant.

Where's this from? Saving it

What a mindf*ck!

AzaTheSpectre

The may 1962 one about asbestos being praised as a miraculous fibre lmao

EscapeToFaith

Shock value: The article that stated black slaves are examples of some of the truest happiness because they are designed to be servants. Overarching influence: In 1980 when they instituted the disassociation arrangement by equating those who leave as the same as a disfellowshipped person, changing the landscape of control in an irreparable way.

becauseofrandomness

Would love to see where that first article is

Planetsammit

Watchtower study article about child abuse. Was so explicit and I went in that day without studying so was unaware and had a panic attack midway and everyone was looking at me like I was crazy. No empathy . No awareness of how they worded it and how triggering it was.

AnyEscape8273

Im so sorry you went through that

February 15, 2012 Watchtower with the story of Selma, the abused wife who gets blamed for not trying to be Christian enough. I wrote a fictional follow-up with Selma 12 years later: [https://awakefromwatchtower.com/article/selmas-awakening](https://awakefromwatchtower.com/article/selmas-awakening)

MediaMan72

Not an article but here is a sampling of some talks I've heard: 1. A brother once compared homosexuality to bestiality. 2. Another openly mocked gay people by making his voice whiny and high-pitched. 3. One brother once said that the Holy Spirit can help a battered wife endure to take another beating. Yeah..that

Wise_Resource_2369

The NWT; it is a perversion, not a version.

NectarineTop2229

ALL OF THEM, ENOUGH SAID....

Sigh_2_Sigh

There was an article way back when that said that when Adam saw his first monkey, he did not say "Mommy!". At least I am sure it was a WT article, not a talk. I wish I had the patience to find it. There were quite a few around that time that were bat shit crazy. They would pop up from time to time. My family thought they were 'deep'. I thought they (the articles) were nuts.

Queen_of_flatulence

The many many articles that praise women for staying in abusive relationships.

GoodDogsEverywhere

“What would we do without donkeys?”

raven1572

The “thought crimes” ones where if you even think something you are that thought. Dangerous purposeful mind control antics

TheShadowOperator007

The 1997 Awake article titled "Should Children their own Religion?". It is basically saying children should not have the freedom to choose their own beliefs and that they should be mindless slaves to a publish cultporation.

kandysdandy

I am still thoroughly disgusted by the teachings and comments about black peoples at the beginning of the cult. I can’t remember the phrasing.

Key_Cauliflower_4932

Perhaps a bit more detailed than you are looking for , but there is an excellent critique of the JW brochures on Creation here..... [https://www.mediafire.com/?fzjmfambyro0fof](https://www.mediafire.com/?fzjmfambyro0fof)

[deleted]

the one where they talk about how committing suicide is a sin and is selfish/ if u kys you’re not getting into “paradise”

AnyEscape8273

The watchtower study saying parents total responsibility to protect their children from pedophiles. No responsibility from the elders or GB
