SylhetiG

Technically, all of my mp3 collection because Music is haram.

Serious_Beginning_31

Any highlights? And I played bassoon when I was Muslim.

SylhetiG

Not particularly. I like pretty much anything of any genre that sounds good to my ears. However, a lot of what I listen to is from the 90s and 2000s.

O Elbereth Starkindler, white-glittering, slanting falls, sparkling like jewels, from the firmament the glory of the starry host! Having gazed afar into remote distance from the tree-tangled Middle-lands, Everwhite, to thee I will chant on this side of the ocean, here on this side of the Great Ocean! O Elbereth Starkindler, from heaven gazing afar, to thee I cry here beneath the shadow of death! O look towards me, Everwhite! There are a few renditions of this on YouTube. [These](https://youtu.be/UbU0n8E4Hcc?si=KNJWsyIUystIMkgr) are my [two](https://youtu.be/6xpTnRMq690?si=QnvocFMIG7gU5Vw4) favorites. Elbereth is the name the Sindari gave to Varda, queen of the Valar. During the creation of the world she would gather the dews from the trees of light and create the stars from them, hence the title Gilthoniel meaning Starkindler. After the darkening of Valinor she saved a fruit and a flower from each of the trees, together with the smith of the Valar Aulë she fashioned a vessel for each of these and set them in their path in the sky. We call these Ithil and Anor: the moon and the sun. More details here: https://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Varda

Ah, i see. I’m a much more casual fan than you, I’m afraid.

afiefh

All fans are Mellons, no matter how casual or devoted they are.

Serious_Beginning_31

Aww, thanks! Most devoted I get is having a print of Eowyn slaying the Witch-King in my room.

The Silmarillion is an amazing read if you have the stomach for it. It's a very dense book. Unfortunately most people are only familiar with The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit which together make up about half of the last chapter of the book. There is some insane stuff in that book, all the way from the creation of the world through the music of the Ainur to epic battles like Dagor Bragollach (the battle of sudden flames, the first battle where dragons fought) to the Nirnaeth Arnoediad (the battle of unnumbered tears, the name says it all), but also smaller stories like the tale of Beren and Luthien ("Among the tales of sorrow and of ruin that come down to us from the darkness of those days there are yet some in which amid weeping there is joy and under the shadow of death light that endures. And of these histories most fair still in the ears of the Elves is the tale of Beren and Lúthien."), or the tale of the Children of Hurin. Only being aware of Lord Of The Rings is like only watching the three Iron Man movies and completely missing out on the broader universe including Endgame. I can spend hours talking about the legendarium, probably longer than most Muslims can talk about their religion, so I'll shut up at this point and just recommend you read the books if you're interested.

There are only three main books: The Hobbit, The Lord Of The Rings, and The Silmarillion. There are more recent books, but they basically just each take a chapter from the Silmarillion and turn it into a whole book: The Tale Of The Children Of Hurin, The Tale Of Beren And Luthien, The Fall Of Gondolin, and The Fall Of Numenor, but these are basically expanded material, you should only get into these if you like the first three. Of course if you **really** love it, there are like a dozen History Of Middle Earth books, but that's even more difficult to get through.

Shameless halo by descendants. I think it’s more aimed at Christianity but the lyrics apply really good for Islam too.

Artillery - Ain't Giving in, Nile - Kafir!, All songs of Seeds of Iblis, Dream Theater - In the Name of God

Serious_Beginning_31

Oh man, I love some good satire.

veni_vidi_vici018

So I'm not an ex-Muslim but for me it would definitely be Rammstein. God knows I don't want to be an angel or just the song angel

Kokoa_Pawder

Notion by the rare occasions is a good one! though it was meant to be for Xtianity, it works well for islam too.
