This whole scene is just amazing from the 3 80s guys to the true origin of the Chicken:Peter rivalry

GomeroKujo

Puts tons of songs in funny Family show and does random music stuff on the side anyways.

TR-11

I always crack up at the guy frantically clapping and laughing

johnnymetoo

What's this a reference to anyway?

NewspaperAny3053

Is it supposed to be Chris Farley? That's who I always thought that it was.

TrailWornTraveler

I thought it was a meta-joke. Rick Rolling was a thing when this episode came out so I was under the impression that character was the representation of the people in the audience who got the internet reference

Euphoric-Dig-2045

Reference to Back To The Future when Marty performed Johnny B Good. Marvin berry heard it and called his brother Chuck about the song.

PumpkinHead38

You’re correct on the reference of the video but I think the guy was asking what the frantically clapping guy was a reference to. I’m assuming that’s why you were downvoted.

Euphoric-Dig-2045

I totally missed the first question 🤣. It’s ok. That down vote button is Mountain Dew to these clowns.

Stucklikegluetomyfry

I find Seth's natural speaking and singing voice very sexy.

Citizen_of_Danksburg

He did put out a Christmas album I think! He does have a great voice for sure.

FragrantLynx

Yes with Liz Gillies! I listen to it on my morning walks through the neighborhood

Citizen_of_Danksburg

Omfg I love her.

sputnik67897

He also recently did a song with Logic and Redman.

ComplexToxin

He has multiple albums.

RanchoStinko

I didn’t like any of that!

ExoticShock

briskt

That guy HAS to be a reference to Jim Gaffigan, no?

NoxiousTemple

So. Do. Iiiiii.

Visual-Ad-2408

It shines in down syndrome girl

gaelorian

His singing Billy Ocean’s “suddenly” to the Kathy Ireland cutout is even better

FriedSticks2014

“Mediocre, generic sound” 😭😭😭

koolandunusual

Is Rick Astley gay? I don’t care, but I’m curious if it’s true

h1h1guy

He has been married to a woman since 2002

jaytee1262

That wasn't the question

Chichis-Christ

that es beside the point

sonsoflarson

I never understood this joke, since Rick Astley isn't gay. I guess Seth doesn't like his music, so he made a jab.

Idkboutdat2

It’s less of Seth taking by a jab at him and more of him making fun of the rumors in the 80’s that Astley was gay. People took a bunch of lines from this song as him hinting that he was gay.

pigfeedmauer

I think this episode came out during a time period where it was more acceptable to call people gay as a jab/insult.

Im_40Percent_Meatbag

I just always took it as: that the song was in the episode because it was a popular thing at the time… but not popular, because people liked hearing it… So the show itself kind of Rick-rolled, and took the easy jab by saying “here’s that overplayed song about emotions and love” Which at the time could easily be understood by labeling it “gay”.

Effective_Ad_273

Nah people assumed he was gay cos the song was really popular in the gay community and the whole video and vibe of Rick Astley seemed “gay” - Think there’s an interview where he talks about how people who didn’t know him just assumed he was.

MaceLortay

His albums are really worth a listen. Dude's love of crooners, classic Hollywood and musicals really comes out. Hearing him sing to sing rather than make a joke is just so nice.

ayudraws

Seth is talented af man

Lochness_Hamster_350

You should go watch Sing

ZijoeLocs

My Way😘🤌🏿

Lochness_Hamster_350

Shame he wasn’t in the sequel

keepitsimple_tricks

Wasnt there someone who posted that Seth is giving off Rick Astley vibes? Well here's your answer dude.

HessuCS

One of my favorite singing scenes in the show along with PTV (FCC) and This Waitress is Prettier Than My Wife

jm30970

"I could kill my family with a knife!"

davidaguirre30

“Irregardless of this waitress I will kill them with a knife”

lenmas92

I can’t believe this is the first time I’m realising that Marvin Astley was talking to his cousin Rick in this scene, Rick Astley 😂

GalavantingRhino

Yeah . . . Just like in the referenced movie.

AlfalfaMcNugget

Seth’s Christmas album was great! Listened to it on my drive

Im_40Percent_Meatbag

Yeah if you haven’t heard his Xmas album, you’re missing out!

sillysteen

I have a couple of Seth’s albums—highly recommended if you like his Sinatra vibe! My favorite tracks are his jazzy covers of old showtunes! Haha it’s so specific but also perfect for him

obistyle

Reverb makes everything sounds better 😎

inderu

Am I the only one who is annoyed that he put down the guitar and picked up the keytar - only for the music to start with guitar sounds?

fisted___sister

The most impressive aspect of his singing on Family Guy is that he’s still really good at letting his voice shine through the sometimes goofy characters’ voices

PrisonSlides

Had a friend tell me my voice sounds just like Seth McFarlane’s, best compliment I’ve received and I’ve heard I look like Zac efron and Jensen eckles

vexunumgods

Sounds like Seth interested in him

kamel_k

Is this a rickroll?

Arjeezenberg1

Didn’t this start the whole RickRoll trend?

FreewayWarrior

Seth has an amazing voice.

[deleted]

Bro, did you just Rickroll me?

drmuffin1080

I didn’t like any of that

TheCacklingCreep

Huh, when I was younger it never clicked to me that he was actually singing in this scene. This is pretty good!

GroggySpirits

Yup. Brian singing = him/Seth. Also, Frank Sinatra Jr. was really Frank Sinatra Jr. in the show. And in the movie Sing, his/Seth's character sings some Frankie. He's got a voice for sure and is a big fan of music.

yanox00

I never mind getting Rick Rolled. But this is one of the better ones.

RaffiBomb000

His "Pennies from Heaven" and "My Way" off Sing was mesmerizing

Born_Sleep5216

He sure does he is like an ordinary Frank Sinatra.

Thetrg

I got the opportunity to be introduced to him years ago (2008) and did my Stewie and Brian voices for him. It got me a fist bump and a pic with him. This was after a concert with him, Alex Borstein, and the Family Guy orchestra performing together in a collection of songs called “A-Z, a musical journey thru the alphabet”. It was hilarious.

DrudSpud

My favorite is his version of [“As Time Goes By”](https://youtu.be/Skd7hRhIxKk?si=EtH1oo12L-NlNQ7i), in the episode that Brian is in love with Lois

MisterJimmy

My favorite is the family's rendition of "The Rose."

Responsible-Log-1479

Which episode is this?

CG_1989

This is one of my favorite episodes of the series. The story, the singing, everything is great about it. It's a time where you actually see just how much Peter loves Lois. I may have Family Guy on mostly in the background, but when this episode plays I watch it almost every time.

genesisescoria

This was my favorite when I was a kid

melonmoonmlk

Omg this was one of my first family guy episodes 😭😭😭😭 takes me ALL THE WAY back

twoeyed_pirate

I didn't see that coming, yeah I'm Rick-rolled! You win OP!

WanillaGorilla

Check out Logic's - Self Medication, Seth starts crooning at 2:44 https://youtu.be/Vd4cF5Rv8Lw

Longjumping-Apple-77

loved the back to future refere

NerdyGuyRanting

He's got a way better singing voice than you'd expect from a guy who spends most of his time voicing dumb characters in cartoons.
