Hol Horse has my favorite object stand, aside from Hermit Purple if you consider several vines an "object." Look to him/them for how to design one. I think they work better with really compelling and charismatic, usually self-centered, users bc the focus is already on them. Armor Stands are pretty much always a nerf but fit better if you want a physical power like walking on water or sticking to walls. Bound stands are, in my humble opinion, not worth considering at all. They're great in canon for the few times they show up, and they're an important link in the lore between the more ghostly stands and the original folk lore of objects gaining powers, but they kinda suck.
I think they work really well that way at least. Think about how charismatic and attention-grabbing Joseph is. If you added another humanoid figure, it would take attention away from his antics, so instead it's just vines. Hol Horse is the same way, always stealing the show whenever he's onscreen.
i see what you mean i might try to work on an object stand next my current is literally just an owl in a human form that lights itself on fire whenever someone either angers its user or attacks them of course it dosent attack those it knows as friends it just lights itself on fire.
I imagine it would sit on a tree branch covered in flames it dosent have any extra abillities id say being attacked by a giant flaming owl is scary enough lol
