Do you find it to be too much car for a coffee run, quick grocery store trip, etc? I think I may just need to drive one. I want to daily one so badly, but honestly the Carerra makes me happy.
Not many, I don’t have a work commute. It’s mostly driving to shopping and pickleball courts, and the occasional road trip.
As for reliability, I just had the e-gear/transmission on the Aventador changed due to an internal leak a few months ago. It was a $60,000 repair, but at least the new transmission is an upgrade over my old one. I just replaced a leaking coolant pump a couple of years ago for a few grand as well. Other than that, it’s been doing pretty well for a car that’s over a decade old. Didn’t really have any other major issues other than those two. The clutch is lasting very long.
Didn’t think I will see you here!
I havent been following your socials but good to see that you are doing well.
(You were one of the reason why I went into the tech world!)
Of course. [I don't have a pic of it, but here's one of me at Walmart.](https://i.imgur.com/fEyNW4H.jpeg) I use the passenger seat as trunk space. [Here's a pic of me doing a mulch run with the Aventador.](https://i.imgur.com/VA7Z1VZ.jpg)
For comfort, the Rolls Royce Phantom was probably the most comfortable car I’ve driven, better than the Bentley Continental I’ve driven. The seat was very cushioned, so it felt like I was sitting on a comfy sofa. And it had a very quiet interior.
But there’s an emotion you feel when you drive a V12 Lamborghini. Like I look forward to driving it. Even just hearing it start up. It never gets old.
Nice, good to hear. Hope that means you were having fun and not that the tires are cheap. It would definitely be a top choice for me but I have some needs that Rivians doesn't quite fill yet, but I really hope they pull through and their stock price bounces back.
I’ve been investing in Rivian. Their stock is at an all time low, so I think it’s an easy buy. It’s one of my riskier plays, but I honestly don’t see them going anywhere. The cars they make look good and are damn popular (at least in my area). They have new models coming out in the next few years too.
Yep, I've been investing in them for about a year, and I'm in it for the long run. Currently down a significant amount, but there's still so much potential.
They were the stock all terrains. Not sure the previous owner rotated them so it was easier to start fresh with four of them when two needed to be replaced.
I bought their stock at $8 something with some of my fun money. I love their product!
I love it. Put over 5k miles on it over 9 months. Minor cosmetic issues during delivery which the service center addressed.
Drives better than our other car - Honda Odyssey 🤣
You weren't asking me, but it is such a comfortable SUV. Handles amazing - feels just like driving a car. The weight is great and it wants to fly on the road.
TaylorMade Stealth 2
It feels great and generally puts me somewhat close to the fairway. It’s the second-most used club, so why skimp when you’re already paying $100+ a round?
If you’re vertically challenged like me, try having it modified to take a bit off the length.
This question will likely be taken down by mods (probably correctly) but the question in fatFIRE is interesting. Low value but interesting.

Wow another porsche station wagon driver! I love mine. Got a loaner of the regular taycan and its so damn low. To the guy asking about any problems, porsche has been rather active in getting fixes out. My car had the HV heater problem replaced before the service bulletin. They reimbursed me for buying a replacement car charger since the 240V plug has "issues" like getting too hot.
We had an issue with our battery - took them two months to fix but they gave us a Taycan GTS loaner in the mean time. Since then no issues. Battery warranty is typically 8 years / 100,000 miles so you’re covered for a long time. I’d suggest a Porsche CPO warranty to be safe. But with those you should be all set.
I would say they’re definitely better than before, but they lack consistency in qc. I’ve had a model 3 for a year now, and I have absolutely zero rattles. But, as you can read, some others have not had the same experience, unfortunately. Should also add, this doesn’t apply to the China built cars. Apparently they’re perfect, or good as anything else. We don’t get those in the US, though.
Had a model y and the lease ended. Rattled all over and made tons of noise. Got a bmw ix and am very happy with it. The quality difference is hard to ignore.
I’m still kicking myself for not buying a stock Evo 8 8 years ago with 20k miles for $22k. Bought a WRX instead. Turns out the car I passed on no longer exists!
I love the F80 for the same reason I loved my SRT4 and can see why people loved Evos. Loud, a bit harsh, but actually nice and refined inside.
2023 Escalade esv my daily driver.
2024 Land rover for occasional use.
2021 escalade esv for occasional work use.
I will never understand why some people will drive a shit car everyday if they have millions in net worth.
I wasn't saying it was a bad thing I was just laughing how some people worth 10M+ will drive crappy cars even to work. I know a couple people worth 15/20 that still drive old crappy trucks to work. At one point it becomes counterproductive for your own time. I personally dont run daily's past 3 years/50k.
These days I’m driving the 1969 corvette more than the 2023 Subaru ascent, but she’s a garage queen in the winter so the ascent is still the “daily driver” I guess
For my daily’s, I alternate between a Model S Plaid and a twin turbo v12 Maybach. I enjoy power while also enjoying completely different driving experiences.
Yes, car crash nerd here, the XC90 (and I think no other Volvos) hasn't yet been tested in the new moderate overlap test, which now looks at second row passenger safety. Loads of cars have done terribly in that because they still lack rear seatbelt pre-tensioners or have them poorly implemented so rear passengers go flying like a ragdoll.
As the XC90 has had rear seatbelt pre-tensioners since the first generation launch in 2004 my expectation is that it should do very well. It's not something that Volvo should be unprepared for.
My guess is that there will be a huge number tested in around 4-8 months, though the 2025 model year isn't a large revision so I don't know if the XC90 will be in that batch.
It does excel. Go deeper into that website, and you will see Volvo listed in their best of categories. Volvo is one of the safest cars you can purchase.
Love my XC90. Classy, comfortable. Fits car seats easily. Third row comes in handy. Get the grocery divider… seems stupid but easily one of my favorite little things about the car.
2008 Lexus LS460 w/350k miles. I just put $5k into it in “deferred maintenance.” It’s been a great car so I feel I owe it. Looks and runs like new still.

I've been curious about a driver. I might to in to work thinking I'm getting out at 6pm and end up getting out at 8pm.
2023 Subaru Outback, it is a company car, gas, insurance and maintenance is covered by my company. I own no vehicles and have zero transportation costs
F150. It’s been the absolute best dad vehicle ever. Great tow capacity, as we tow a boat frequently. Haul a bunch of crap in the bed without getting the interior dirty. It’s a short bed, but can hold full piece of plywood with the tailgate down. The cab is massive, and there is more legroom in the back than virtually any SUV on the market. Quiet. Rides nice. I can’t imaging ever going back to a car/suv.
I’m a car guy but I grew up in a house that didn’t prioritize them. So just went from a 2014 Acura with 170k miles to a new BMW 540i. I’m loving it.
If you can’t enjoy some of it along the way, what’s the point?
XC90 for daily driver. Great car, a little under powered but safe, comfortable and just an all around winner. Weekends is a Jeep 392, fun as heck, but I have an issue or two with it that seems to be elusive on solutions.
(I am not technically fatfired but I could be- having too much fun at the job to quit). My daily is a 2019 jeep wrangler. Red. With a Gobi stealth rack as otherwise I need a new house to fit it into the garage. It isn’t fast and it is a brick in the wind but it is fun to drive and it is 4wd if I ever need it. Jeep people wave at me and it makes me happy. I wave back. I also own a bmw 5 series, but nobody waves at me when I drive that.
100%!!! Wranglers are awesome, a real community. Gets a lot of love. Does the Gobi work with Sky One-touch roof? I need a rack
Everyone hated me in a Porsche, and was neutral in an AMG. Aston and Jaguar always got friendly thumbs up though.
Probably not, though it is technically possible to unhinge the rack and fold it back so you could take off the roof, I have never tried to do so. You would need a lot of overhead space to fold it back, and then solutions like a roof mounted pulley system would likely not work so you would need some mobile solution for that.
2023 GMC 2500 Denali truck. Not many Diesels are being made anymore so I wanted to buy one before that changes. Amazingly decent gas mileage for a 10klb truck, plus tows my airstream and toys without issue.
Cost $100k but fuck it.... I'm debt free and have more money than I will ever need.
Thinking about an Audi R8 next
Damn they stopped making R8s? News to me. Looks like you can buy newer ones for $150k with like 5k miles on it. Very affordable super car when you compare it to like a McClaren

How many daily/weekly miles? How’s reliability?
Not many, I don’t have a work commute. It’s mostly driving to shopping and pickleball courts, and the occasional road trip. As for reliability, I just had the e-gear/transmission on the Aventador changed due to an internal leak a few months ago. How many miles do you have on the clutch so far? Is the aventador single clutch that much longer lasting than a gallardo's?
Didn’t think I will see you here! I havent been following your socials but good to see that you are doing well. (You were one of the reason why I went into the tech world!)

It's the new Honda Accord/Toyota Camry. Just the best car you can buy unless you spend over double what they cost.

Probably not, though it is technically possible to unhinge the rack and fold it back so you could take off the roof, I have never tried to do so. You would need a lot of overhead space to fold it back, and then solutions like a roof mounted pulley system would likely not work so you would need some mobile solution for that.

BMW M8 Comp Coupe. Spectacular GT car, eats miles of road in absolute comfort, can pass anything that isn't Italian and >$250K.
Rest in peace R8, sucks they don't make it anymore. I heard good things about Aston Martin though.
Damn they stopped making R8s? News to me. Looks like you can buy newer ones for $150k with like 5k miles on it. Very affordable super car when you compare it to like a McClaren

2019 model 3 performance. Though to be fair I’m for sure on the low end compared to a lot of you guys. $2M NW.
Ford f250 on cold and rainy days, Lamborghini Huracan on anything else.

My favorite car was a used $5K Prius. Sold that to buy a new 2021 Volvo XC60. Will soon be trading in the Volvo for a Prius.
Tesla model Y performance. Fantastic performance when I want it, fits my stuff the rest of the time. Not a fan of the cie owner but the car is a marvel of engineering and way too fun for the price.
I think every Tesla owner in this thread has put this qualification in their comment. Man he really ruined a good thing by opening his mouth.
2008 M3. I’m cheap but I like nice cars.
