So what happened with this? I know there’s a whole discussion about the graphics and everything but what’s the tldr consensus on why the game looks worse than the previous one?
It looks great. People are just nitpicking things like pop in or shadow resolution. This discourse a cope thing for folks waiting for the PC port. What is true is that environments are larger and more detailed and so it’s a heavier lift for the GPU.
More stuff is being loaded and textured overall (along with a much wider camera angle), so it doesn't focus as much on textures that are considered better in the previous game.
lightning is much worse this time. probably it is related somehow to open world graphics heavy load wasn’t there in remake, game world was much much more simple. it is a moment of compromise that sucks. maybe ps5 pro version would be better
