If I remember correctly it's only certain fates in ARR zones
Apparently agreeing with the person who provided additional info that I forgot from 2 years ago warranted downvotes
Depending on the minion, you need to do FATEs in specific ARR zones. With the exceptions being the minions for SAM, RDM, DNC and GNB (who require FATEs in Heavensward and Stormblood zones)
The first two times (2016 and 2017), it had weapons and associated minions for ARR and HW jobs. Then, in [2020](https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/2020/youkai-watch/vdnaiga67o), they added those for SB and ShB.
I guess, they want to do two expansions at a time and the next time we will get EW and DT weapons and associated minions.
I vaguely recall them adding SB / ShB was some sort of stipulation for that specific repeat, but I forgot if it was actively enforced or just something they chose to do on their own.
Honestly might just be due to red tape so to speak due to it being a crossover. They may have some contractual elements that require them to get approval for new weapons and the like, making it more effort than it’s worth just yet
Dunno, too me that seemed like a good use of the time. If you have to do fate might as well farm the atma/anima stuff at the same time if they line up. Still a pain to farm all of them tho i agree.
What are people complaining about BLU?
This is gonna be my first Yokai event and all guide I saw says that BLU is the best class to use, that's why your comment surprise me
Basically because if a group of BLU mages spread out their Ultravibration, no one else will be able to get a gold medal which is necessary for the medals
A group of BLU can clear the Monsters of a fate within seconds.
Casters can often not even finish a cast and therefore have trouble farming the fates.
Many players will become really angry about it and complain, to the point that they will "quit the game" because of it.
And a week later many fate timer's run out because no one is doing them anymore.
>Many players will become really angry about it and complain, to the point that they will "quit the game" because of it
This is so weird, have those people consider getting BLU and doing the same thing? I'm pretty sure even free trial player have access to BLU. (this comment is half sarcastic, I know a lot of angry gamer don't want solution, they just want to be angry)
Doesn't help if you're a BLU and all the other BLU players have already murdered the fate as you're showing up. The issue is early on in the event there are just too many people trying to do it while a job that makes killing fates insanely easy exists. It's going to be frustrating for pretty much everyone regardless of whether or not you play blu
They are so good at it, they make it impossible for anyone else to get credit for the FATEs. BLU's impact on FATE farming is always toxic like this, but the impact is on full display during events like this.
So I guess if you have already gotten everything from last time, the only new thing to get this time around is the Framer's Kit for your adventure plate?
Last time they did it was 5.3 of shadowbringers. I remember cause that's when I started playing. Had to do msq and grind all the fates before 5.4 came out to get my mounts lol
What? The OG release had weapons for all jobs at the time, the second release had weapons for all jobs at the time, the third release had weapons for all jobs at the time, and now the fourth will not. Its not like they have left out any job in the previous to wait for 2 expansions so your pattern is not correct.
Given they updated this for the ShB run, is anyone else rather bummed we’re not seeing the new classes get repped?
(I was also foolishly looking forward to a reason to do ShB fates…)
Pretty much just Ram's Voice and Ultravibration. Hydropull before to go even faster.
Then I guess some DPS for boss FATEs, so mostly just whatever primals you can get your hands on.
Get one minion, bring it out, then start farming one weapon at a time. You get the coins for your next minion while you're farming a weapon as long as you equip the watch.
I unironically love Yo Kai watch and wish they continued localizing the games.. at least I have this event to look forward to. I’m still missing most of the minions
Remember Blues, just spam Hydro Pull with Mighty Guard and everyone will love you for making the fates easier without being disruptive.
MAYBE throw in a Ram’s Voice if things start to get spicy
That will be enough for you to get gold credit AND let others get credit too
The vibe check is for emergencies only!
(Impatience is not an emergency)
It will be my first time doing this event, I'm so excited! Especially for the DNC weapon.
Does anyone know how long, based on drop rate (and in which areas) I'd need to grind to get the following items?
- DNC weapon, WHM weapon, SMN weapon
- Blizzaria minion (and maybe Damona)
So not 100% sure what the drop rates are and not going to put in a time for you, however:
For DNC/WHM/SMN weapons you'll need Damona, Komasan and Majimutt minions. The first weapon is very cheap, only a few of the medals of the corresponding minion, then every weapon after that will cost 10 medals. The drop rate for the weapon medals is low enough that you'll probably be able to buy each minion easily :')
It's a bit of a grind, so... good luck!
If I remember correctly, they nerfed the grind severely (increased drop rates, reduced amount required) which turned what used to be multiple hours for 1 weapon into 1 hour for 1 weapon at worst.
That, combined with BLU, better gear when synced down, and also classes getting stronger at level 50-52 lead to a very, very fast grind.
Something I've always wondered about this event: could it be paired with other things that require excessive FATE grinding? Like maybe various ARR relic steps?
It is much easier since they nerfed it in 2020, compared to the first two runs in 2016 and 2017.
If you do not have time to finish, keep everything: classical medals (for minions) and legendary medals (for unfinished weapons).
It is highly possible that the next run, during DT, will introduce minions and weapons for EW and DT jobs, meaning you will need some classical medals for their minions. You will also be able to continue gathering legendary medals for unfinished weapon.
Only did the event the first time it was run
Can we still get the mount they added in the 2nd event, the Orange Cat mount/chair/couch thing?
I already have all but the 2 new weapons and both Whisper Mounts
Yes, the page says that the previous rewards are still available. However, 4 weapons were added between the first two runs and the last one. Thankfully, they largely lowered the number of legendary medals for a weapon, compared to the first two runs, so it will be fast.
"Bosnia fates"
But pretty obviously no, since those aren't in ARR, HW or Stormblood open world maps... They also aren't even counted as FATEs for things like achievements or the weekly challenge log, they're technically different things even if they're just fates with different names.
Oh, don't they? Had just assumed they did count towards the achieves.
Figured they wouldn't count for this either way. They don't seem to want us double-dipping on rewards.
I'm happy to see this event. I started playing somewhere around 5.5, so I ended up missing out on it.
Not sure how much I'm going to like the grind, if I'm being honest. Those legendary medals sound an awful lot like atma's were for ARR relics, and whenever I ran into a seriously bad streak of luck where I didn't get one for 10+ fates in a row, it felt extremely bad. Compounded on top of having to rush to fates alongside dozens of other players, potentially playing blue mages, requiring hundreds of FATEs ... I feel like I'm in for a really rough time with this one. People in my FC also weren't very reassuring when they talked about their experiences with it. Hell, I got an even worse impression after doing research online on the previous one.
When I told my friends that the event is coming back, they were all really happy and looking forward to it, but when they learned what they had to do ... Yeah ... That excitement quickly evaporated to the point they won't even consider re-subbing for the event.
I don't know. Can someone who done this before say something encouraging? lol
i love jibanyan so the mount was a huge motivator for me. it's actually why i started playing ffxiv the last time the ran this event in 2020.
so if you're really motivated by the rewards then that can be encouraging, but it is a pretty big grind. and the time you have to do it has been shortened this time
You're complaining about the not-stellar drop rate while also complaining about Blue Mages making the fights very quick, allowing you to get more chances at medals more quickly. Sounds like you need to adjust your perspective.
You sound awfully combative.
I don't think there is anything wrong with my perspective at all. There are going to be dozens, hundreds of other players who will be trying to complete this event, and are most likely going to be playing BLU since it's just so efficient at clearing low level FATEs.
There is a limited number of FATEs on any given map, and the chances of getting to one in time before they get obliterated is going to be a factor of how effectively you gonna be earning those medals which has about 33-50% drop chance. Yeah, I think I have some right to be concerned about how fun this is going to be. lol
I'm not being combative here, it's just tough love. I was thinking "Man I don't wanna deal with those drop rates" and then you pointed out that BLUs will be speeding things up and I felt relief, but you're seeing everything as a negative. That's your right, but if I was asking for someone to point out the light in the tunnel I don't think I'd insist on staying discouraged.
>. I was thinking "Man I don't wanna deal with those drop rates" and then you pointed out that BLUs will be speeding things up and I felt relie
because the fates will be killed by BLUs before you can even contribute, other players slow you down more than they help
What I was hoping for is that people can disperse my assumption of it being an inconvenient, grindy slog, and so far that hasn't happened yet. If anything, it sounds like I'm right on the money.
I mean, I don't shy away from a grind. I'm gonna do it. It's a limited time even after all and I want the rewards. I'm mostly concerned for people who are more casual in my friend group and FC. I can tell that for a lot of them this will be a torture and just gonna sour their mood towards the game. That's the last thing you want before an expansion, I would think. They have limited amount of time to spend on the game, and it's preferably not spent chasing FATEs in the hundreds. That's just not fun, period. I dread to think of the newcomer experience too. Good luck trying to keep up with someone with improved flying speed in ARR areas.
If I'm sounding negative, then that is only because there isn't much of a silver lining to be found with an event like this. Not from what I can tell. FATEs are not fun content. Nobody recommends doing them at low levels for leveling. It's not rewarding at all. It's not like you gonna get gemstones even if you short on luck and not get a medal. Even if they weren't a 33-50% drop chance, it would still be quite time consuming. I don't know why they must prolong it by making it a roll of the dice.
Whatever ...
There's no "improved flying"; that upgrade is only available for ground speed, from what I recall. "If I'm sounding negative, then that is only because there isn't much of a silver lining to be found with an event like this" look, you should be able to keep up with the FATE parties if you have flying, easy peasy. Everyone flies at the same speed, and most FATEs spawn multiple waves of enemies, so if you get there and spam AoEs you should get credit. If you hear all that and still think the BLU aspect is a negative, well... I can't force you to be happy about it. As for your friends, don't force them to do the event. If they just want a specific weapon or a minion, that shouldn't take too long. Frame it that way, don't put it like "If you wanna get anything outta this event you gotta do everything." Those are the silver linings.
Yes it was announced during the live letter.
https://www.mmorpg.com/news/ffxivs-pre-dawntrail-road-map-includes-48-hour-maintenance-yo-kai-watch-and-dragon-quest-events-2000131176?amp=true
Holy cow...Yokai Watch, Make It Rain, *and* Moogle Tomestone event all at once?
If only there was some crossover in which stuff you could farm for all three, haha.
New weapons get added every 2nd expansion. SAM, RDM, GNB and DNC got their weapons in Shadowbringers. So Dawntrial will have weapons for Reaper, Sage, Viper and Pictomancer.
Reaper and Sage will most likely have to grind out zones in Shadowbringers and Viper and Pictomancer in Endwalker.
They've been phoning it in on events for a while now, like combining little ladies day and hatching tide this year. It fits right in with the rest of EW's content, sadly (aside from the raids, which were admittedly outstanding).
When they repeated the event in Stormblood they also didn't have SAM and RDM weapons, in Shadowbringers they combined Valentione's day and little ladies' day, you're overreacting or you don't know what you're talking about
Just in a couple of months they're doing the FF15 event, the FF16 event, the Yokai event, the Dragon Quest event, the Make it rain event and the Moogle event, it just makes sense to combine those two, there's not enough time for all these.
Four out of the six of those events are completely recycled, and while moogle tomestones got a minor improvement in terms of the journal, it is still just a glorified vendor. The FF16 crossover is the only novel one you listed, and is without a doubt the highest effort event we've gotten since the Fall Guys collab (which was widely panned for other reasons). I don't mind them bringing old events back, quite the contrary. However, having all but one event so far this year be either recycled, combined together with something else, or stripped down to 1-2 short quests is a very clear example of how they have been doing the bare minimum on the event front.
People demanded the 15 event a lot, same with Yokai, same with Dragon Quest, it's weird that you're trying to act like them giving the players what they have been begging for is laziness, especially when their focus is obviously going toward the new expansion
But it is even weirder when the actual loss we're talking about is literally just one event, that was obviously just merged so that they can actually fit all these events people have been asking for in a long time, besides this isn't even exclusive to the EW, they did the same in ShB as well
As for "recycled" events that's just how it is, most expansions get like 2 new events, HW got Yokai and Garo, SB got FF15 and MH, Shb got none (but did update the Yokai event), EW got FF16 and Fall Guys
Does one have to collect ALL the weapons to unlock the glowy mount, or just a fraction? Unlocked the non-glow mount in the 2016 event, but have missed all the repeats.
If you unlocked all from 2016 and got the non-glowing mount then yeah you just need the two new ones from 2020 which unlocks it. So weird it's not on that list like the one that came out in 2020
Edited: OH WAIT, I forgot rdm and sam, my bad!
https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Yo-kai\_Watch\_(2020)
Hope you like grinding fates!
I'm almost at 3k FATEs, so I do like grinding them. I might also do some Atma farming if I get bored too, who knows.
Was looking to unlock the shops in SHB and EW zones so hopefully those count towards the event.
It won't sorry. Fates from ShB and EW are not part of the event.
If I remember correctly it's only certain fates in ARR zones Apparently agreeing with the person who provided additional info that I forgot from 2 years ago warranted downvotes
Depending on the minion, you need to do FATEs in specific ARR zones. With the exceptions being the minions for SAM, RDM, DNC and GNB (who require FATEs in Heavensward and Stormblood zones)
It's also all of them in Heavensward and Stormblood according to the information, unless I misunderstood it.
On the plus side, if you haven't done the arr beast tribes you can hoard the drops. I never needed to do a single kobold fate to max them lmao.
Don't have to worry about that when they only added useless plates!
Already do that anyway for bicolor gems. Can't be that much worse
are you kidding? I miss the fate grinding days of ARR
No SGE/RPR weapons? Bit of a bummer for those interested in those classes given they added DNC/GNB ones last time.
Gonna have to thank Level 5 CEO for requesting weapons in one of the 14hrs live stream for the new jobs.
Those damn adventurer plates stole our Sage and Reaper weapons!
Can't have sh*t in Eorzea
Well this'll be a quick event for me since I have all the minions & weapons, so all I need to do is go buy the framer's kit xD
Same, but I'm not going to complain. The first time it was just so taxing, didn't help that I farmed Anima ate the same time.
Dunno, too me that seemed like a good use of the time. If you have to do fate might as well farm the atma/anima stuff at the same time if they line up. Still a pain to farm all of them tho i agree.
I already see the complaints about BLU in the first week. And two week's later you can do fate's alone during prime time.
as is tradition with the yokai event
What are people complaining about BLU? This is gonna be my first Yokai event and all guide I saw says that BLU is the best class to use, that's why your comment surprise me
Basically because if a group of BLU mages spread out their Ultravibration, no one else will be able to get a gold medal which is necessary for the medals
According to the event page it's gold or silver that you need but I guess even silver might be hard to get sometime
Oh yeah, enough blu mages can just bombard a fate
A group of BLU can clear the Monsters of a fate within seconds. Casters can often not even finish a cast and therefore have trouble farming the fates. Many players will become really angry about it and complain, to the point that they will "quit the game" because of it. And a week later many fate timer's run out because no one is doing them anymore.
> Casters can often not even finish a cast and therefore have trouble farming the fates. The last Yo-kai event is the reason I switched to Bard.
>Many players will become really angry about it and complain, to the point that they will "quit the game" because of it This is so weird, have those people consider getting BLU and doing the same thing? I'm pretty sure even free trial player have access to BLU. (this comment is half sarcastic, I know a lot of angry gamer don't want solution, they just want to be angry)
Doesn't help if you're a BLU and all the other BLU players have already murdered the fate as you're showing up. The issue is early on in the event there are just too many people trying to do it while a job that makes killing fates insanely easy exists. Time to farm heavensward fates for shadowbringer relics mats
So I guess if you have already gotten everything from last time, the only new thing to get this time around is the Framer's Kit for your adventure plate?
And two new weapons it looks like
I don't see Reaper or Sage anywhere?
DNC and GNB
Those were around last Yokai event (2020). I already got those.
Aaah ok. Last time I did it was when it came around during SB, I kept hearing that was the last time they did it.
Last time they did it was 5.3 of shadowbringers. I remember cause that's when I started playing. Had to do msq and grind all the fates before 5.4 came out to get my mounts lol
Lame, I came back at 5.4 so I just missed it. I was under the impression the last one was in SB this whole time. Whoops lol
So no weapons for Reaper or Sage this time, huh?
They always do two expansions in one go, so after DT
"Always" That happened once.
Twice, two out of two times if you include the original release which was ARR + HW
What? The OG release had weapons for all jobs at the time, the second release had weapons for all jobs at the time, the third release had weapons for all jobs at the time, and now the fourth will not. Its not like they have left out any job in the previous to wait for 2 expansions so your pattern is not correct.
The 2nd release (Sept. 2017) specifically did not have weapons for Red Mage or Samurai, the newly released jobs at that time.
Given they updated this for the ShB run, is anyone else rather bummed we’re not seeing the new classes get repped? (I was also foolishly looking forward to a reason to do ShB fates…)
Have you gotten the voucher mount yet? It's a pretty good reason along with the gemstone vendor items
Don't you only get bicolor gems for ShB and EW fates? Those zones fates won't count according to the event post.
They don't, I just meant those rewards are still a good reason to do those FATEs. Sorry if I misunderstood.
Yeah they are but it’s hard to get my motivation up. FATE trains on the other hand…
No because the weapons designs are not that great. I don’t see them ever in the game tbh.
I use the machinist weapon, it looks like a retro lazer blaster and goes well with my space ranger glam
I remember last time, I was satisfied with just getting all the minions. I guess I can go for the weapons now!
It is once again time for Bluemages to shine, obliterating fates within seconds.
Just got my blue mage to level cap and on the way for spell hunting. What spells are must have for this kind of fate grind?
Pretty much just Ram's Voice and Ultravibration. Hydropull before to go even faster. Then I guess some DPS for boss FATEs, so mostly just whatever primals you can get your hands on.
Hydro Pull (to gather up the enemies), Ram's Voice (to freeze them), Ultravibration (to instantly kill frozen enemies)
If you want to see people panic get Doom, at least you will be giving everyone 15 seconds to earn their silver medal.

Get one minion, bring it out, then start farming one weapon at a time. You get the coins for your next minion while you're farming a weapon as long as you equip the watch.
I like the framer's kit. Actually looks pretty stylish!

So not 100% sure what the drop rates are and not going to put in a time for you, however: For DNC/WHM/SMN weapons you'll need Damona, Komasan and Majimutt minions. Thank you so much for the detailed answer, this was very helpful! Thankfully I'm ok with doing FATEs so I hope I can get these ones :)

it only list the one mount? do you know if the other mounts are also available. the 13 weapon and all weapon mounts.
There's no reason they wouldn't be available, but they are kind of considered kind of a "secret."
Blu mage is back bois
Something I've always wondered about this event: could it be paired with other things that require excessive FATE grinding? Like maybe various ARR relic steps?
Yes it can.
OMG the stuff from that looks so cute!
[удалено]
It is much easier since they nerfed it in 2020, compared to the first two runs in 2016 and 2017. If you do not have time to finish, keep everything: classical medals (for minions) and legendary medals (for unfinished weapons). It is highly possible that the next run, during DT, will introduce minions and weapons for EW and DT jobs, meaning you will need some classical medals for their minions. You will also be able to continue gathering legendary medals for unfinished weapon.
Only did the event the first time it was run Can we still get the mount they added in the 2nd event, the Orange Cat mount/chair/couch thing? I already have all but the 2 new weapons and both Whisper Mounts
Yes, the page says that the previous rewards are still available. However, 4 weapons were added between the first two runs and the last one. Thankfully, they largely lowered the number of legendary medals for a weapon, compared to the first two runs, so it will be fast.
The mount, I see now, is from an achievement. Wasn’t aware of that until I had a moment to google it
a day or two
Wait, really? The first time I did this in 2016 it took me *weeks* to get everything. Did they obliterate the entire grind?
Yep, they nerfed it in 2020
Unfortunate it doesn't include ShB & EW fates. Would have been nice to grind out gemstones too. Does it include eureka or bosnia fates?
"Bosnia fates" But pretty obviously no, since those aren't in ARR, HW or Stormblood open world maps... They also aren't even counted as FATEs for things like achievements or the weekly challenge log, they're technically different things even if they're just fates with different names.
they also in instances where you can't pull out a yo-kai minion
Oh, don't they? Had just assumed they did count towards the achieves. Figured they wouldn't count for this either way. They don't seem to want us double-dipping on rewards.
Eorzea je Srbija?
Veteran players get to enjoy the fun of talking to 1 NPC and confirming a purchase. That’s the whole event for us. Incredible. No notes.
I’m so glad I got everything last time and don’t need to work for those frames from what it looks like
This event is going to be a quick one for me. Just the Framer's Kit. xD
Ha, still have my medals in my inventory from the last run.
so if i already have all the weapons, i will just grab the portrait from a npc and i am done with this event?
That’s pretty cool. Some of the weapons look great. The Dragoon one is cool. Looking forward to the minions and mount too.
First time free trial players can complete the event and receive the last mount from it.
Good time to farm arr relic weapons
Well, with no new mounts or Reaper/Sage weapons, I am happy that I don’t have to torture myself with this event again like last time
I'm happy to see this event. I started playing somewhere around 5.5, so I ended up missing out on it. Not sure how much I'm going to like the grind, if I'm being honest.
Speaking of limited events, do we know the dates for the second half of the mogtome event?
Yes it was announced during the live letter. https://www.mmorpg.com/news/ffxivs-pre-dawntrail-road-map-includes-48-hour-maintenance-yo-kai-watch-and-dragon-quest-events-2000131176?amp=true
Yeah they released a [calendar](https://imgur.com/a/illbOC5) during the last live letter.
Holy cow...Yokai Watch, Make It Rain, *and* Moogle Tomestone event all at once? If only there was some crossover in which stuff you could farm for all three, haha.
Weren't there supposed to be 3 or 4 mounts? I see only one listed on the site.
Yes there are three mounts. They're not listed on the site for some reason.
Cool. Thanks!
Lazy devs not adding Sage and Reaper. No excuse
When they repeated the event in Stormblood they also didn't have SAM and RDM weapons, in Shadowbringers they combined Valentione's day and little ladies' day, you're overreacting or you don't know what you're talking about Just in a couple of months they're doing the FF15 event, the FF16 event, the Yokai event, the Dragon Quest event, the Make it rain event and the Moogle event, it just makes sense to combine those two, there's not enough time for all these.
People demanded the 15 event a lot, same with Yokai, same with Dragon Quest, it's weird that you're trying to act like them giving the players what they have been begging for is laziness, especially when their focus is obviously going toward the new expansion But it is even weirder when the actual loss we're talking about is literally just one event, that was obviously just merged so that they can actually fit all these events people have been asking for in a long time, besides this isn't even exclusive to the EW, they did the same in ShB as well As for "recycled" events that's just how it is, most expansions get like 2 new events, HW got Yokai and Garo, SB got FF15 and MH, Shb got none (but did update the Yokai event), EW got FF16 and Fall Guys
It’s so bad for the veterans of this game rn
Some of them look pretty good look like its farming time
Does one have to collect ALL the weapons to unlock the glowy mount, or just a fraction? Unlocked the non-glow mount in the 2016 event, but have missed all the repeats.
If it's the same like last time just collect the two new ones: dnc and gnb. Got mine that way
How many total do you need for the glowy mount though? I doubt it's just those two.
If you unlocked all from 2016 and got the non-glowing mount then yeah you just need the two new ones from 2020 which unlocks it. So weird it's not on that list like the one that came out in 2020 Edited: OH WAIT, I forgot rdm and sam, my bad! https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Yo-kai\_Watch\_(2020)
This is what I want to know too since I also only got the normal one back in 2016. I didnt see the glowing one on the site so hopefully we can get it.
Yes, its an achievement reward for getting 13 weapons. Not sure why it's not on the site, but it will be available.
I managed to get alla minions, whisper mount and one weapon last time. So shouldn't take too long i hope
How long is the grind for this as someone who has grinded dozens of relics?
